Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts): what do users think?
Deepesh sachdev: Female Respresenatative of vanart india was mean, rude, disrecptful. No Apology came from van art. was also asked to take down my bad review about van art for being brutal honest over social media in threatful way.
Prachi Bapat: I recently completed my Web development and Interactive design program from VanArts. It was an intense program. The professors are really supportive and give you ample of time answering your questions. Classes are small. You get lots of professional advice in your one to one sessions. Its a very hands on, project-based program were you get to learn from your professors who are experts in this industry.I would totally recommend this program to anyone who want to pursue their career in Web development industry.
Lisa Millerd: I took the web development course in 2021-2022 and had an excellent experience. It's a very hands on, project-based program where you work closely with your instructors who are professionals in the industry. Classes are small and you get lots of one-on-one time with instructors when you want to work through a problem or ask for professional advice.
sachi goto: I completed the Web Development and Interactive Design program in August 2022. You will definitely benefit from this program if you can dedicate yourself for one year and put your best effort into all the projects. This program is intense so you can easily fall behind if you are not committed to this program but you will gain a comprehensive understanding of web development, from UX/UI to SEO to multiple different programming languages if you dedicate yourself to this program. The head of the department, John Manoar, is dedicated to teaching us and constantly reminds us to ask questions if we are unclear. He is very approachable. He is up-to-date about technology and you get to learn cutting-edge technology from him.The way John taught us programming was particularly impressive to me. He is very thorough and he is more than happy to repeat until we understand.Throughout the program, I was very grateful that he is the heard of the department.I recommend this program to anyone who is willing to dedicate a year to being a developer.
Yuka Yamamoto: I am a student of web development & interactive design at VanArts. There was a head teacher change from my class and there seems to be a big and good change in the program. The teachers are very supportive. They are always flexible and willing to take the students' opinions and try to make the class suitable for our situation. The classes are always step by step and if there is a lot that we don't understand, they give us time to work on it. Taking advantage of the small class size, if you ask for feedback or follow-up after class, they will give me time to talk one-on-one.All classes are project-based, giving me more hands-on skills. The course content tries to help me study the rapidly changing front-end trends.Since this is a one-year course, there are many hard parts of the course, but my teachers and classmates are always very supportive!
Techy Ted: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueSTAY AWAY... especially from the Web Development course. It is useless and the teachers don't care about you or your future! This college is mainly attended by rich kids looking for a student visa so they can stay in Vancouver. BCIT is around the corner go there and get your moneys worth!
Pigeon Man: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Valueif you aren't a social person, you won't do well here
Risako Futagawa: I am actually a full time student in Van Arts Web Development program. This is the most relevant information I can provide. About 3 weeks ago our department head suddenly left and we have not been able to get a proper education. We all pay the tuition and we should be able to get a high quality education. Since the instructor changed, one of the instructor for PHP and Javascript never came on time, he will not teach us enough. Also he will never give us break and continue the class past our lunch time. Because of his delay, we have not been taught enough in term2 so far. All the students are frustrated, worried and concerned about the situation. We have been sending emails to school but nothing has been better. Another instructor started teaching us PHP from this week but he seems like he does not know what we have learned so far... None of the communication has been done between instructors. We thought this new instructor will be better. But he does not answer questions from students and finish the class early. My classmates and I really want to change this whole situation because we take our education seriously. We emailed this new instructor to have a talk on Friday. He said he will make time but he did not show up.... I am very upset about how school is handling everything and no one cares about our education. My classmates and I are trying our best but nothing has been working well. I hate to write a poor review but this is the reality and I do not recommend anyone to go to this school. When you have problems, none of the instructors are there to understand or support you. I do not think it is worth to pay an expensive tuition and get nothing from it. I do not know about other programs but I do not recommend web development program. It is not a good school.
Dave S: Horrible experience in my opinion. Towards the end, the school became cheap and unprofessional. They even crack a joke at your expense when you leave. I have personally not recommended this school at all.
Jessica Everington: I did the Web Development & Interactive Design course 2019-2020. The teachers were really knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I felt comfortable raising any issues and the department head listened to any concerns we had. They really care about nuturing you, and were genuinely excited to watch us grow and develop our skills.I didn't have any issue with the facilities there. They are basic, but you're there to learn not chill out in the break room. I had access to all the software and programs required for the course without needing to buy anything except a $15 domain name where we uploaded our projects. The school itself is in a central location and easy to get to by bus or train.I'd recommend this course to anyone considering a career in web-something. I say "web-something" because it's a holistic course that goes beyond "just" web development. I shopped around a few different schools and ultimately chose this one due to the fact they also cover design, business, project management, and SEO. I'm so thankful I went here - I went in thinking I wanted to be a full-stack developer and fell in love with SEO instead. Now, I'm a digital marketer. I don't think I'd have had that opportunity at another school. If you are considering the webdev course, just know that you need to put the work in or you'll get nothing out of this course. The webdev course is REALLY hard and you can't coast along. It moves at a breakneck pace because there is just SO MUCH you need to learn in a year.Pro tip: always remember that every project you do will eventually go in your portfolio. At job interviews they will test your skills, so don't put anything on your portfolio that you can't code by yourself.
Maria Lavetkina: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME.I wish I invested my money in the stock market than wasted them on Web Development program.Instructors make you believe you can be a full stack developer but that's not true. That's not how the market works. Yes, the program covered a lot of courses, but nothing went in depth.A couple of instructors were professional and good, the rest of them weren't.One instructor took really long to check the homework or other projects. And when I say long, I mean 4 months, no joke. The same instructor kept talking about his dating life. So I learned a lot about it but not much about PHP and JavaScript.Instructors tell you to email them when you have questions, but they rarely reply. They are great example of who you should not be.One instructor said that VanArts is a business. Well, then I'm not satisfied with a quality of service VanArts provides. The only one good thing about my time in VanArts is the other students, some of them became my friends. Most of the students in my class also thought it was a waste of money.I DO NOT RECOMMEND web development program. There are better schools in Vancouver.
Jacob Green: Positive:Professionalism,ValueSpeaking on Photography: a school that is invested in an individual's success outside of grades on a sheet. Helps by creating a professional environment, they can help guide real-life opportunity, with real-life working professionals, and an admin team that listens to their students
Anirudh Garg: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Arthur “The Old Arthur” Marto: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityAwesome school and people!! I loved the Game Art and Design Program. I learned everything I needed to be in the industry. Thank you so much VANARTS! :)
Salman Ali: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueCame with mediocre skills..learned a lot in span of one year.
Ian Manuel Hernández: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityGreta! I completed the VFX program and learned A LOT, great for all levels of students.
Rohaan Allport: I'm a graduate from the Game Art & Design March 2019 batch. VanArts was in many ways what I expected, and in many ways not. I learnt a lot. Learnt industry standards, processes and became proficient in a lot of software. And I made many new friend with similar career interest. However after being guided and taught the basics, myself, friends and colleagues feel that program needs to be updated. Newer tools, and methods to accomplishing a task have since developed, An example would be making hair and adding hair dynamics.
Gabriel Antoniosi: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueLovely place. You will learn tons of stuffs in just one year program.
Mathews Gijo: If I had a time machine and were given the option of either travelling to one of the best moments of my life or back to that one year at Vanarts, I wouldn’t have to choose...they are both the same. This place is not just a school. It’s more. Vanarts is familia. The fast and furious kind. Besides all these, the staff is extremely helpful and kind. They are also a few of the best in their respective industry. The environment is very friendly and calming too. I for one have learnt a lot in one year that another student would take years to learn.I’d give the school more stars if Google gave me more stars XD

InFocus Film School - Vancouver, BC: what do users think?
Elena Rois: Hight quality teachers! Giving you tips and material from the real world as a graphic designer, you will work on projects where you will apply all the theory learned and you will see your evolution if you keep practicing and making an effort. The teachers are very attentive to any doubts you may have or if you have any problems during the course that need special attention. They also create a healthy work environment among classmates where you receive constructive feedback, where group work and learning other styles is encouraged. My experience in this school has been very good and I am grateful for everything I have learned to each of my teachers and classmates.
Alex Mcghie: With so many schools to choose from I'm extremely thankful I decided to attend InFocus. The staff at the school are incredibly kind and helpful making the process easy from start to finish. I was in the Graphic + Digital Design Program and the instructors were absolutely hands down the best you could ask for. They are available outside of class hours to help with any problems, and truly go above and beyond to help students succeed. There is extensive feedback for on going projects and hands on, in class work throughout the entire program that facilitated learning and continued improvement on skills and projects. Each project is unique and correlates to skills and knowledge required in the industry. I can honestly say this program rivals many degree and diploma programs as the amount of skill and the projects gained upon graduation is incredible. I have never felt so proud of the work I've done and have had so much fun doing it. I can't say enough good things about the school and I recommend InFocus Film School to anyone who is looking to learn and succeed with a career in graphic design.
Haley Vowels: I enrolled in the Digital + Graphic Design Program and graduated spring 2023. This program is an absolute gem. I was the youngest to ever take this course at only 18 and had no idea the career path I stumbled into. Words cannot describe the abundance of design knowledge I learned in only 6 months, it makes me feel like I've finished a 2 year college degree. This is big props to the incredible and carefully chosen instructors that are teaching from passion and sharing their design secrets from their own careers. You'll be pushed and challenged the entire way but it will all be worth it when you leave with a professional portfolio, resume, business card, website, and a graphic design family. This course sets you up to not only keep up with people that have gotten degrees and been in the working field for years but also excel. Thank you Leila my graphic design mother.
Ed Alexander: The 1 year crash course on film production was great - everything I needed to prepare me for a career in the film industry! InFocus has an excellent group of instructors and support staff who go the extra mile to support our learning.
Grace Wang: Had a very good experience in the Compositing for VFX program. The instructors and mentors are all very knowledgeable and supportive.
Aidan Tong: Very hands-on school with really solid instructors. Instructors that are accomplished and are still working in the industry. Great way to learn while doing.
Victor Lee: My friend made a deposit of $1300 and decided to not start his studies due to school policy and personal issues. He tried to get his deposit back, but the school told him that they wouldn't refund him anyway. This information is not in the contract, and is such a lack of respect with not just all the students in the school, but with the population struggling during the pandemic.
Jelica Rojas: This is an amazing school ! My experience here is extremely good. People are very nice and instructors are very helpful! Coming to this school is one of my best decision to pursue my career as a filmmaker ! I would definitely recommend Infocus Film school. 🤗
Nessie Blanes: Super friendly staff and such an amazing experience.Their Film Production Course is such an amazing experience. Definitely recommends this school over V*S.
Olga Grigoreva: I took their compositing program and it worked great for me. I came in with literally zero photo/video editing experience (not even Photoshop), and a month after graduation I got a job as a compositor in VFX studio here in Vancouver. The course was substantially cheaper than VFS/Lost Boys/Langara's VFX programs, fully online and short-term. I could still work part-time. The best thing about InFocus is that it's small and humble, so everyone up to the director of the school are very approachable and ready to help. They are really there to make sure you succeed, it's great. Also, I got plenty of industry connections and insights through mentors that teach evening classes. Overall, I'd highly recommend this course! And yes, the VFX industry is booming now, so it's a great time to get in.
Zedar Thom: My career started long ago on a communications path and was more of left-brain thinking but with the recent training at Infocus Film School Graphics & Digital Design, I finally had the opportunity to get my right brain cranking in design thinking. It's not all fanciful stuff. With designing, you learn all your life. I had professional instructors with real experiences, plus tons of hard work on my part to complete interesting projects. After graduation, if you are not from Vancouver, you are quite on your own as emails are often ignored. Infocus lacks in post-training strong alumni relationship, as this seems to be done selectively for PR.
Melissa Peterson: I completed the Writing for Film and Television Program at InFocus Film School a week ago and I'm excited to share that I feel fully prepared to find my way and work within the film business. All of the instructors are industry professionals with a deep commitment to story. I left the program with a much better understanding of structure than I went in with and a solid idea about which route will best serve the career I want to build.
Jesse Parker Hart: I had been wanting to go to InFocus Film School for years, and when I finally had my chance to go, it actually exceeded my expectations. Despite having to do the program during the pandemic and mostly over Zoom, the instructors and faculty made it so that we still had an amazing educational experience. I love that we got to dabble in all aspects of filmmaking, and really had the chance to try everything out, beyond just a superficial level. The instructors were all very experienced in the industry and had valuable insights to pass along. The program challenged me and pushed me out of my comfort zone but always within a healthy and reasonable limit. The program is set up so that it's really what you make of it: all the tools are at your disposal, you just have to put your mind and hands to the task, and learn how to work as a team. You are really given the opportunity and support to make award winning short films before you even graduate.
Terra T: Great faculty and nice staff, my learning experience was amazing!I took their 3D Animation and VFX program.I had no prior knowledge to 3D animation and vfx other than I was passionate about the cinematic world. Every mentor had great patience and was able to teach me from scratch. The teachers truly care about the success of their students. The staff continue to help even after my graduation which truly makes me feel like part of a family and community.InFocus gave me the tools and knowledge to pursue my passion!
Amanda Heredia: I have been to a few exciting events organized by this school, supporting their students and the community.
Vadim Venedyukhin: I had a wonderful time at InFocus. The small class size allows students to connect with each other and with instructors. The majority of the lessons involve hands on exercises with careful in-depth guidance from the teachers. There are many projects throughout the program that always include one-on-one meetings with instructors that give support and valuable professional feedback. Both international and domestic students of different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs are treated with equality and understanding. Some instructors also come from different parts of the globe such as Russia, Brazil, and Europe, so chances are you will be able to speak your native tongue with someone in the school. Located at the heart of Vancouver it's a great place to meet industry professionals and get inspired by the big budget movies being filmed on the streets nearby.
Jake De Pedro: Having no experience with 3D but always being something that caught my interest I decided to take the 3D animation program at Infocus Film School. I have learned so much, and was given the right advice for my portfolio- from industry professionals!Miguel is an amazing coordinator that ensured that we always were taken care of! My modelling mentor Arturo along with my animation instructor (Selman) and my Lighting instructors Kiruthiga also spent countless hours giving me constructive criticism and ensuring that the end product was worth showing.A few months after graduation and after applying I was offered a position at Mainframe Studios. I want to thank the entire staff at infocus for working their magic and rolling out their online program in record time!I am still to this day very thankful and highly recommend to work hard !
Adam Dien: I did the 3D animation & VFX program and had a phenomenal experience. The instructors are clearly not about it for a salary, they truly care about you and your success. To name name's the instructors I had at the time were Miguel Rodriguez Suarez, Arturo Baccio, Kiruthiga Mahalingam and Selman Kantarci. No matter who will be your instructors I am confident they will continue to hire and find kind and capable industry professionals. If you truly give this program your all for the year they will help you get you to your entry level dream job. I thought many times that I could teach myself since you do most of the hard work and self teaching, but having a mentor to guide you really makes the difference and found myself learning something I would never have thought to google or made a connection from my modelling class to be useful in animation that I wouldn't have necessarily got on my own. They teach you from the ground up and once you know the basics they give pretty much strictly feedback on what it is to look for. The way they do feedback is exactly how it is done when you get your first job, and I felt I was well prepared when I got my first animation job. I look back and think about how a year ago I was working part time at the grocery store and now I am a junior animator from my 1 year at Infocus.Give it your all, give that whole year, no distractions dedicated to the schooling as much as you can. Always want to keep learning and don't take the criticism to heart because they know what's expected to get a job and only want you to get better is my advice. I am very fortunate to have gone to this school.
Grecia Paez: I was in the Film Production Program. It's intense but very useful, as someone who didn't know anything, I learned a lot. The teachers are all very caring and ready to guide you in whatever you need. The school is small but has more than enough (equipment, etc) to offer its students through their program. All in all, a good investment for the start of your filmmaking career.

CG Masters School of 3D Animation & VFX: what do users think?
Erik Kaas: Our son recently finished the program. He very much enjoyed going into school every day. The founder (Nick and Vicky) are very involved with supporting each student. Our son has dyslexia, and they were flexible in making accommodations for him. Our son learned man skills and is now looking for a junior animator or compositing position by building out his portfolio and demo reel. He's able to continue to work at the school until he lands his first job, and Vicky is helping him with his job hunt.Anybody looking to learn 3D animation and VFX skills should consider CG Masters. Classes are small, the teachers are great and the students learn real-life production skills.
kevin lin: The full time program is quite intense. The school teaches you not just skill but professionalism.Unlike alot of schools where the classes are big and teachers don't care about students browsing internet, CG masters cares about your education and want you to succeed.Don't expect hand holding from this school, and be willing to endure stress and hardship. If you can follow the instructions and study hard, this school is worth it.
Luisa Rafidi: What sets CG Masters apart from any other school is that they teach you how to function in a studio environment. You learn about production pipeline and studio procedures, and that's invaluable training to have. On top of that, all the instructors are great, and you learn many things—photography, compositing, among others. The people in this school care about your success, and I'm happy that I chose them to teach me.
Hiram Araujo: You not only learn technical skills but how a production environment is. The instructors are top notch. Overall you will growth not only as an artist, but as a person too
Anthony Reynders: CG Masters is a great school, they teach the skills needed to do any aspect in a VFX pipeline and also the production side of the jobs, how to function in a studio environment which makes them unique as a school. All of this is taught to you by industry professionals with years and years of experience among them. The teaching method of valuing skills not grades is very much what I was looking for. I moved to Vancouver specially to attend the school and with the purpose to start a career in the VFX industry as a VFX compositor after graduating. Choosing to attend this school has been one of the best decisions of my life. I was able to reach my goals and I have been working in the industry for almost a year now. This thanks to the amazing team at CG Masters
Manny Wiebe: Amazing school that really cares about your learning and success. Teachers here are currently working in the industry and have alot of experience and insight that can help students who have no clue what they are getting into. Here you will learn how to become cost effective and work well in a team environment by being put into real production. As a result you will end up with professional quality demo reels which will increase your chances of being hired. All that is required on your part is that you put in genuine effort and give it your all. No one can make you do that, it comes from your drive, passion, and willingness to learn. I would recommend this school to anyone that is serious about getting into the 3D Animation & VFX industry. You'll be surprised how much you can learn from only one year of training here.
Saqib Ashraf: A very well equipped and experienced school that thrives in using cutting edge technologies to groom its students to understand and experience what it would be like to work in a VFX studio in a high end production environment. The strength of the school is in having industry artists and generalists come in to teach regularly, coupled with the fact that the school cares about the students before, during and after course completion. Highly recommended.
Rebecca Lin: I chose CG Masters after researching and visiting a variety schools. Nick was the only instructor who answered all my questions in a straightforward, clear and concise manner. No beating around the bush. No vague answers. I knew with confidence going in that the school would provide a worthwhile experience and allow me to develop a good foundation for the skills I want to build. What I didn't know (but thought I did) was the sheer volume of information that I would need to learn and absorb within a one year period and to realize there's still a lot more to learn after even that. This program is intense and not suitable for people who don't want to put in effort. You are expected to spend a minimum of 40 hrs per week at school. The program's goal is to allow graduates to hit the ground running on their first day at their first job. Working part time while taking this program is not recommended. This program simulates a team production environment and you will experience every aspect of the pipeline. Get to know your team and make sure to let Nick know if you have a specific area of interest as early as possible. For someone coming in with no understanding or experience of the field, the learning curve will feel pretty high but the foundation you get will be strong. For someone coming in with technical background or previous experience, it still won't be easy. Nick will make sure of that since you are paying to learn. Take the initiative to ask questions, you will get more out of the one on one time with your instructors. Effort and attitude goes a long way.All your instructors are current industry professionals so treat the program like a one year interview. What you learn is up to date.
Kim Maglalang: I came to CG Masters having no VFX experience and was extremely happy with how thorough they were teaching the process of filming production to the end result in compositing. The program definitely challenges people of all skill levels so everyone is always learning something new. In the last two terms we worked in a simulated production environment which I really enjoyed because we experience the same team mindset as we would in an actual production pipeline. There are always people readily available for you to get help from. In fact our instructors were currently working in the industry they taught so the curriculum was up-to-date as possible.
James Greenwood: As a student attending this school with no real vfx background or knowledge of any of the software used in this industry I took a leap of faith with these guys and it certainly was not misplaced! It challenged me to the max and I learnt heaps. Finishing school I had a solid understanding of how a vfx pipeline works and felt comfortable to go into the industry knowing I was in the best place I could be as a junior. As a post grad looking for work the school also didn't rest until I had a job! Now happily employed and loving my career change. Deffo check this place out!
Richard Laszcz: This school changed my life. I started here right after high school where I had failed multiple classes. After only a year attending cgm I have a job working on vfx for big Hollywood features, which i think is pretty rad. The staff of the school couldn't be more friendly. They will eagerly help you out with basically anything as well as put up with you when you decide to go back to visit as many of us grads do. Throughout your time here you will be working in a simulated production environment which prepares you very well for work in the "real world." my current job included a 3 month training portion to all of the new hires up to speed with how that studio functioned and this preparation felt like a breeze after the training I had received from cgm. It's true that the work you do at the school can be challenging at times, but all of it is accomplishable if you give it your all. This school really shows you the amazing things you can do when you put your mind to something and I wouldn't trade my time here for the world.
Vince Paul: What can I say about this school that hasn't already been said? This school helped me realize my dream of working in visual effects. My time at CG Masters was one of the most challenging and rewarding years of my life. The education I received here prepared me to for a career in the VFX industry, and it also gave me insights on how to approach and troubleshoot problems in a more efficient manner( something I can use in my everyday life as well).I would recommend this school to anyone wanting to get into visual effects/animation.
Ivan Begovic: CG Masters is an intense and engaging curriculum. It doesn't just teach students the skills and tools they need for their chosen career, it pushes them past their imagined limitations and shows them just what the industry will be like. There is no better place to learn how to be a VFX artist.
Anna Glushkova: CG Masters provides a very intense training but every minute I spent there, worth it.Small classes, knowledgeable insructors and unique program. You will graduate with skills only relevant and necessary to the industry.Best school in Vancouver(at least). Just came in, speak with Vickie and Nick and you will see why
Daniel Labossiere: Choosing a VFX school or program is a daunting task, with more choices today than ever before. I looked at schools and programs all over the world and through both my preemptive research and time as a student came to the conclusion that CG Masters offered the most comprehensive program with the most directly correlative skills training relevant to both the current and ever-changing state of the VFX job market. This was proven time and time again during my time at CG Masters, as instructors often and openly taught me the very same skills and techniques they had used at their studios that very day.Class sizes are kept deliberately small, the better to give each student more one-on-one time with instructors. The instructors readily made themselves available to help out after class hours, including both in-studio help and keeping in touch via email to help dissect particularly problematic VFX files, setups and approaches. This was an amazing personal touch uncommon in larger schools and programs.I found myself gainfully employed immediately after graduating from CG Masters, a testament to the success of the school's disciplined one-year intensive model, job-relevant skills and fierce dedication to teaching students how to function in a real studio, as a team.Absolutely world-class training recommended to anybody who is serious about becoming a VFX professional.
Alejandro Vargas: This school is definitelly for personal and professional growth, I came here after finishing my career in my country and I can definitely tell the difference between a college education or any other postgraduate out there. It's in a great location in the city of New westminster where i still live since i attended to the school, there's everything that you would need. My time at Cg masters was really good and prepared me exactly how i wanted when i had my first job right after finish it but most importantit´s that what i learned helped me to keep it until this day.Fair warning: This is a school where the commitment is key, if you put your mind and your time entirely to it you´ll definitely have success in anything that you want to do and you´ll end up with a lot more than a diploma for the wall. Guaranteed!!
Kiera Chycoski: So happy with my decision on going to CG Masters! There are so many things that set this school above the rest: every teacher is an industry professional who's CURRENTLY working, all of which who truly care about your success as a student and eventually as a professional. Smaller classes which guarantee plenty of one-on-one time with the teachers. An environment that simulates what its really like to work in a studio. In other schools you learn how to use the tools for the job, here you learn the tools, learn to work in a team, learn and use studio procedures in all aspects of the visual fx pipeline. This school is so welcoming to people from all around the world looking to get the best possible education and start to the vfx industry, and they truly deliver. By the end of the course you're not just classmates, you're a little family. Plus, tons of little bonuses: perfect location at the New West skytrain station, right next to Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Safeway, and tons of restaurants, and there's always Radar the black lab there for when you need a little comforting puppy break! To cut it short, I'm extremely impressed with CG Masters and will always recommend it to those looking to get into the vfx industry.
J. King: Attending CG Masters was literally a life-changing experience for me. It initially seemed crazy to change careers after turning 40, and attempt to break into the vfx industry, but looking where I'm at now compared to where I was just a few short years ago, it may be the smartest decision I've made in my life!CG Masters offers a fantastic one-year program, which not only teaches you the various aspects of visual effects, but also teaches you how to be an efficient member of a team, and more importantly, how to be a worker that studios will bend over backwards to keep under their employ. The school is owned and run by industry professionals, most of whom split their time between the school and actively working in the booming vfx industry here in Vancouver, so you know you're getting taught by highly experienced individuals. The program is very challenging, and you will be held to high expectations by the staff. But if you're a person who can focus and work hard, your determination will be rewarded in the end.So if you've ever thought working in TV and movies might be fun, or if you're interested in using technology to create anything your mind can conjure, this is the place for you. The sense of accomplishment you feel at the end is only matched by the elation you feel the first time you realize you're getting paid to do something really cool.
Joshua Behrens: I really loved this place. I don't think there is any where like it. I enjoyed the atmosphere here and quality of learning but mostly I enjoyed the way the staff interact with the students. They were very friendly and professional people that could look into a student and see just how to pull the best out of them. If you are ready to unleash your inner potential I think this is the place for you.
Brooke Sanders: CG Masters is the best place to start your career in VFX, with extremely knowledgeable instructors, the small class sizes and the real world work environment you graduate with all of the necessary skills to enter the work force.
Andrea: I'm a graduate from CG Masters and I find that the training that the school offers is in line with what the VFX industry currently really needs. There aren't only classes on CG and animation but also on Production. We learned how to deal with different departments in a simulated studio environment. Thanks to that, few days after finishing the school I could get a contract with a major VFX studio fitting with ease within their pipeline.

MakerLabs: what do users think?
Roman | Secret Wood: The instructor's enthusiasm and high energy kept the class lively, ensuring that we were never bored. Thank you!
Amy Walker: Thanks MakerLabs for the clear, quick and helpful communication - and a beautiful job. I'm very happy with the process and the finished laser cut plywood puzzles.
Sidney Tupper: I’m very pleased with the steel plate pieces that MakerLabs cut for me, exactly as specified, quickly and for a reasonable price. Next time I need something cut I’ll go back to them, for sure.
Kevin McAllister: Super responsive and friendly. A great experience with their laser cutting service!
Jack Sam: Did you know you can cut metal with lasers? ⚙️⚡️🔫I got that done at MakerLabs
Teang Berg: Response to Corinne:Upon my arrival at 6:09 pm, I observed that you immediately engaged in an argument with me, which further delayed the proceedings. I must express that your response during the entire experience, as well as your subsequent correspondence, has come across as arrogant and lacking in empathy. Your actions are not aligned with the principles of promoting equity and inclusion.-----I recently registered and prepaid for a class at Makerlabs, but my experience was extremely disappointing. Despite arriving only 10 minutes late, I was denied participation in the class because Makerlabs requires attendees to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time, a requirement that was not clearly communicated in their important details email or during the registration process. As a mother of 2 toddlers, I had to carefully plan and juggle my schedule to make it to the class, which was already challenging. However, Makerlabs' unexpected policy added unnecessary stress and inconvenience, and I was denied participation in the class that I had paid for. When I requested a refund, Makerlabs refused to do so, even though I was unable to attend the class due to their lack of transparency in their policies. Moreover, I found Makerlabs' policy to be exclusive, as it may not be feasible for all participants, particularly those with caregiving responsibilities, transportation constraints, or other commitments. This lack of inclusivity is disappointing and concerning.Furthermore, the process to access Makerlabs' policy was not clear, requiring navigating through multiple pages on their website. As a paying customer, I expect transparent and easily accessible information about their policies during the registration process.I urge Makerlabs to review and revise their policies to ensure inclusivity and fairness for all customers. As a result of my experience, I will be reporting this issue as "services not rendered" to my credit card company, and I will also be sharing my disappointment by posting this review on Google and other relevant platforms to inform others about my experience.I hope Makerlabs takes this feedback seriously and takes appropriate steps to rectify the situation. I am disappointed with the lack of customer service and transparency in their policies, and I do not recommend their classes based on my experience.
Greg Harms: Maker Labs has laser cut parts made of stainless steel, aluminum, and even thin plywood veneer, all exactly according to my ACAD files. They do great work and are reasonably priced.
Malcolm Moran: I recently had 6 Acrylic panels laser cut for a 3d printer enclosure I was building. The panels turned out perfectly--better than expected with prompt service. Derek was incredibly helpful, and even made an extra couple cuts for free when I realized I had left them out from my initial designs.Couldn't recommend them enough!
Catherine Greenwood: Phenomenal experience - I will absolutely be going back.
jeremiah shee: Amazing work, fantastic and helpful staff. Quick and very professional service.
D C: Derek and his team are awesome. I was looking to get something custom fabricated. I sent over a sample photo of what I was looking for along with my artwork. I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up my project today. They created exactly what I was looking for. The quality was also top notch. If you need laser engraving or something custom, definitely go with them.
John Martin Robson: Maker Labs is a fantastic place/space if you're look for a creative work environment, a place to learn, and/or support with your project! Thank you Derek and the people of Maker Labs!
Joanne Smith: I have used MakerLabs for a few lasercut projects now, in both wood and acrylic. Derek is quick to reply to emails, provides different material and price options, and my projects have been completed really quickly. I'm looking forward to doing a class there one day to learn some new skills!
Kimberly Cooke: Prompt service and beautiful results on my monogrammed cutting board!
Lucas Wallace: Great customer service, prices, and turn around time. Thanks guys!
Stevan Mikha: Great space - when pressed for a quick turn around item, they communicated quickly and helped us achieve our goals. Very reasonable rates and everyone we interacted with cared about the work they were putting out.
Salvage Vancouver: It’s always a pleasure working with Makerlabs. The staff are on the ball and always helpful. We have done many projects together and will continue to do many more.
George Luo: I had a wonderful experience overall with maker-labs. Their website is clear on what you need to do if you want a project made. I think it was less than 3 days between first contacting MakerLabs for my project before I was notified of its completion. The customer service was quick and friendly and the final products exceeded my expectations.
Julia McDougall: This place is amazing!! I needed some shirts printed super quickly and they did it the same day, I even needed to adjust the order and they accommodated me! I cannot say enough about how friendly the staff is and how great they did!Thank you MAKE!
Jay M: Great experience making multiple acrylic projects.
Michael Barker-Fyfe: I needed a name tag for a Hallowe’en outfit and they managed to turn it around in a few hours on a Saturday. It’s perfect. Thanks for the great work!

LaSalle College Vancouver: what do users think?
Komalpreet Kaur: Really disappointing experience with this college. I’m trying to call them from last week neither they are answering my call properly ,nor they are replying to my any mail😵.
Eva Braam: Good food, and absolutely outstanding hosting 10/10
Sofia Prado: Really disappointing experience. They sell the idea of preparing students for outside opportunities and a chance to network with industry which was never true. 7 months prior to graduation, and many students (including myself) are unemployed. Unfair that they only care about the money. I never felt a supportive environment during my studies neither after graduation.
jagraj singh 0190: Its really awesome all the staff is very respectful and helps me in very polite way
Debs WC: Their agent on WhatsApp is very rude, I am only asking just to make sure that everything I need to know before applying is correct, but the person got annoyed by my questions. Very unprofessional. Take down your WhatsApp if you do not want questions and inquiries from future applicants.
Daljeet Singh: Scam college
nhạc sàn hay: Never recommend this school for fashion design studying. This school will put u in a passive position that u have to cope with quick and superficial lectures with unreasonable tuition fees.
Duaa Yamani: I am a fashion student and would like to mention about our best draping teacher(Julia) she is knowledgeable, professional and always trying to teach us different techniques and ways to do creative fashionThank you JuliaAlso would like to mention about the receptionist and person who works in the book store are super friendly and always available to helpThank you
Alex Alex: By far, the best media arts and design school!
Manjot kaur: Best College!
Jun Yu: One more look and it will explodeConfidence, get closer, get melted
Ben Wang: what is this?
曹震宇: I am yours, you are mine
Eddy Liu: what are you doing~
Huang Alex: Little Heizi is showing his chicken feet!
Tommy Wong: You walking towards me make me so ready to move
Wenhan Xiao: people who mess with names are wicked
JINFENG ZHANG: Can I see iKun here?
gustavo sdjgjsdfjd: It’s supposed to be open during sundays but they are very often opening late and not telling students, i just have sundays for working on most of my assignments and this does not help at all.
AJ Maybe: Great school! Teachers are friendly and open to help, and I find the environment quite welcoming.
madison jarvis: Great school if your looking for smaller class sizes and one-on-one learning experience.Starbucks is just across the street which is great when I need an energy-boost.I am half way through my Architecture and Interior Design Degree, and from my experience what I can say is you will get what you put into it.If you are a hard worker and you strive for success... that will be recognized amongst the instructors and they will do everything and anything to help.If you want to do the bare minimum and "get by" well then, sorry... this isn't the industry for you because its very competitive and requires hard work, haha.If you're the kind of person who has leadership qualities and would like to be involved in the student life on campus then I recommend that you join the Student Representative Committee. When I was reading through the previous comments from 2+ years ago (this was before my time), I can honestly say that from my experience I can't agree or relate to anything that those people were concerned about. The school switched ownership years ago and as a result many things have improved.
