Nicholas Quintillan: Certainly a terrific experience. I’ve known the lead bartender my whole life. He recently won some well-deserved accolades and he truly is the best bartender in Canada and even perhaps the world. A strong statement for sure, however, his cocktails are creative, unique, balanced, and ridiculously flavourful. The service was outstanding and the food was unbelievably great. If you want an “out-of-this-world” experience, come have some drinks and food at Botanist. Highly, highly recommended! It was the best Burrata and Duck I’ve ever had.

Luckily, after a 10-minute wait, someone canceled.Service was brilliant, food and drinks tasted delicious, and the vegan dessert was amazing!The brunch was under $90 with tips included. Kianna Kho: Came here for dinner. Food, drinks, and service were good during the dinner, but I have to deduct stars because they charged my credit card twice for the $250 dinner. It took 5 phone calls to finally get the refund. I never actually spoke to anyone from the restaurant, only the hotel. Never received a note or apology for the inconvenience, the charge was just quietly refunded to my card and I noticed on my statement.
Joel Chan: We got the three-course brunch and it was delicious. I ordered the charcuterie plate as my appetizer followed by a croque madame and the strawberry coconut panna cotta for dessert. The food was fantastic and I don't know which dish I liked more because it was honestly all good. My wife ordered the hand-cut beef tartare, butter poached lobster benedict, and the milk chocolate coffee mousse. We also got the antioxidant juice, orange juice, and blue moon non-alcoholic cocktail which paired very nicely with our food. Overall great experience with a very friendly, courteous, and professional staff. Even the washrooms were gorgeous.

Dillon Sharan: The ambiance at the Botanist is unparalleled - it's one of the most beautiful restaurants in Vancouver and a great place to celebrate any special occasion. The food and service are excellent. I ordered the vegetarian dish for my main course and was quite disappointed with the portion size - it was laughably small, fewer than 10 small bites. It's a pricey restaurant and the quality is absolutely up to par but after spending $100 per person, guests should have enough food to be satisfied, not wanting more.

We’ve never encountered such amazing customer service. Very accommodating staff. Best mushroom toast we’ve ever had and the pistachio croissant left us speechless. Fair price for the flavour and serving size.The beef tartare was really memorable. Lamb belly poutine was a great mixture of custom French fries with a nice balance of cheese. Eggs Benedict had the right amount of hollandaise and the lobster bumped it to that next level. Dessert met our expectations and were balanced without being too overwhelmingly sweet. Great way to finish off our meal.$71 for the three course which me and my partner had. Was surprisingly filled by the end of it.
Kimberly Stephenson: A week after dining here, I'm still trying to wrap my head around how amazing this place was! The drinks, food, atmosphere-- EVERYTHING exceeded expectations. Even the journey to the bathroom was pleasantly surprising; I found myself lingering at the hallway photography exhibits, and feasting my eyes on the bustling lounge below. There was also a live pianist, whose effervescent fingers doled out jazzy covers to pop songs like something out of a 40's noir film. The lighting was perfect (not too bright, not too dim). It's impossible to say the service was inattentive-- they anticipated every refill, every wanton desire for more oatmeal sourdough bread (which was scrumptious). The other culinary standouts were the lamb shanks/belly (which now rivals bacon for me, lol!) and the sour-cream ice cream for dessert. Be prepared to crave another visit! 😝

Shawn Joseph: It's absolutely perfect for the time you don't mind splashing a bit extra $$$!The food was to die for. You have to get the burrata salad to start off with. The mains are up to you. However, for the dessert, I still dream about that vietnamese coffee creme brulee. It was the definition of heaven.Finally, the servers were awesome and fun to talk to. They treated you like they were your pals.
Jiajyun Wang: This restaurant is perfect for a romantic date. We were lucky to sit in the courtyard on the second floor, just like having a date in a beautiful garden. As for the food, we ordered shrimp and fried cauliflower salad for appetizers, and they were both stunning. The flavors were rich and delightful. We ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad, Burrata Di Puglia, Wild Sockeye Salmon, Lamb Neck, and Steak. The flavors were generally well-balanced, and the presentation was visually appealing. All the dishes were exceptional aside from the Steak, which was satisfactory, but not outstanding. The cocktails we ordered (Stregarita, Sakura Blossom, and Basil Exposition) were delicious as well.Overall, Brix and Mortar is a restaurant that offers a memorable dining experience with its refined ambiance, attentive service, and creative menu. Enno S: It has an incredible view over the city and it's quite fun to point out things you see/ places you've been while you rotate. You see waterplanes and helicopters landing and a bit of the harbour. The restaurant is pretty expensive, but if you go during happy hour and order a beer or two (CAD 8-9) you can stay for a while and make a full rotation (60min). The staff was very nice aswell.

Alois Callemyn: This is a must see when visiting Vancouver. There is a elevator that normally you have to pay to go up, but just tell them that you’re going to the restaurant and it’s free. We went at happy hour (3-4) and got a window side table. The view is unreal! We got cocktails (great) and apps (ok) and our bill was $68, plus tip.We enjoyed our drinks and got to see a complete revolution (1 hour), a 360° view of the Harbour and Downtown.I will go back as soon as possible. Oh, be sure to ask for Vicky, as she is a blast.

Sarah ingram-reid: Made a reservation over a month in advance for the patio, came to Vancouver from Vancouver island just to come to this restaurant. When I arrived they had told me that a large party has come in and the patio is no longer available. The front desk staff were extremely disrespectful and rude, and said it was my fault that I didn’t know the reservations were “first come first serve” Will never go to this place again.

Claire Blair: Dinner here was great, as always. Amazing food, service and ambience. Was expecting to have steak frites but when that wasn’t on the menu we ordered the bison carpaccio and it was sooo good. The Congolese mussels and broth are so delicious and I’m always surprised how many are in there! Very filling. They have such a great liquor menu too, including hard-to-find Belgian Trappist beers, and Fortaleza tequila. Fun to sit at the bar and converse with the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Mark: Moules Frites - Congolaise - Probably the best/freshest/largest mussels I have ever had. Fries were kind of an afterthought and nothing special but would recommend getting a side of sourdough bread so you don't waste all the sauce.

Aimee & Jenna Hobbs: We were in Vancouver this past weekend and went to Chambar Saturday evening for dinner. Our server Dylan was just lovely. She was knowledgeable about the menu and able to help our thirteen year old who is celiac navigate each of the dishes that could be made gluten free. Several people at our table had mussels conglaise and really enjoyed them. My niece and I had the lamb which was delicious and my son had the steak and ate every single bite. 尹涵: The service is very good and can give full marks. The environment is a bit crowded. There are three appetizers and two main dishes. The only thing that tastes delicious is the main course quail, which is full of flavor and seasoned properly. But it’s really not as hype as advertised in Xiaohongshu. The three types of bread before dinner are very ordinary, most of the dishes are salty, and the taste is very ordinary. After two people ordered 250 yuan, they didn’t feel full. The main menu items are too much Less, there is no room for choice if you want to eat more, it is a bit sad. The portion of the appetizer is super mini, and it is thoughtfully matched with a lot of bread for you to taste. The foie gras in the appetizer is really like the packaged foie gras in a French supermarket. It is not delicious and salty. It does not mean to discredit this store. In addition, the partners in the same business can not accept the half-cooked pork chops as the staple food. The meat is only appearance Layer cooked, there is not even a little fiber of cooked meat in it. Steak can be eaten medium-rare, but pork chops are really not daring. Do foreigners eat this way? Angela Jeffery: The chef menu was a wonderful taste adventure led by many guides. Each remove had its own person who explained the creations.The cocktails were a sensory experience themselves, but the wine pairings with dinner were worthwhile. I appreciated the primarily local ingredients and vineyards.The only thing that detracted from the experience was being out by the windows was a little cool for the dress I wore; a light shawl or long sleeves would have been ideal. The space with all the glass and courtyard was still enjoyable.
C Wong: Practically empty restaurant, claimed not to have space for me at the bar. This happened twice. I guess it doesn’t matter what you do for work and if you don’t dress fancy the hostess deems you not good enough to be there. Go to the Diamond instead. They are waaaaaaayyyyyy more friendly.
Anja Ivica: Went here for a friend's birthday last night - two of us explained to the server that we have dairy sensitivities and were explicitly told by the server that only 1 appetizer and 1 main were available for us to choose from. The server was extremely condescending and rude and said "This isn't really a place that does 'dairy-free'"I explained several times that we were okay with food cooked in butter, but could not eat large amounts of dairy or dishes that have lots of cheese, cream, etc. but she continued to basically berate me about how things are cooked at the restaurant - considering this is a "fine dining" establishment, I'm confused at how it's so difficult to swap out butter for oil or simply serve a dish without cheese. This wouldn't have even be an issue, if the server's attitude had been friendly. Instead, every time she came to our table, she made a point of saying there's basically nothing for me to eat here, and in such a judgmental tone that was dismissive and rude, implying that I shouldn't have even come to eat at the restaurant.For a bill that totaled over $90 per person, while the food was good, the service was atrocious, and I've never been made to feel more uncomfortable at a restaurant in my entire life.Dietary restrictions: Dairy sensitivity - do not accommodate at this establishment

Gregg Taylor: I attended a hosted lunch and learn event in a wonderful banquet room in a building down the alley and behind the main restaurant. The Food was amazing and the staff were great. I had a perfect cooked steak and a great tomato/basil soup starter. The dessert was amazing. I’ll definitely keep them in mind for hosting any party or group dinner.

Arash Salamati: To say going to this place was an experience is not doing it justice. Possibly some of the most incredible dishes that is put together like a painting. Elegant, delicious with great wine options. This is a place you go for a very special occasion. The octopus dish was probably the best octopus dish I've had ever. Also highly recommend the chef special absolutely great setting with 9 dishes to try. The staff are so kind and helpful. Nik Southwell: Again, another amazing experience. Worldly travelled and after consuming meats from all around the globe, I actually had one of the best steaks to date last night right here in Vancouver. Every bit of our night was perfect.

This is the most expensive steak on the menu around $36 per ounce and I got 10 ounces due to them not having the 6 ounce.When arrived to the table this was not cooked correctly and was rested for too long causing the steak to become cold and rigid in the flavour. I complained and they mentioned they can do another one however I said its okay as I expected better from the restaurant. Its a shame due to the reputation of this place however it goes to show quality is not always monitored. Especially when spending $760 for 2 steaks.As for the service the waiter was not aware how to leave the customers to eat. I realised he was trying to be nice however there was not social awareness on how to handle an audience. We would be in a middle of a conversation and 4x the server came over to tell us about something or how the steak will be cooked and why even though we did not care. A better approach would have been to ask if we would like to know and not force knowledge onto customers that don't really care or perhaps already have knowledge on steaks.The sides were nice however overpriced again.Average restaurant more expensive due to the area I believe and was disappointing altogether unfortunately.

Janell Natekar: Food: I had been bragging to my family and friends about Le Crocodile since the first time I went there, so it was a bit sad to see some of them disappointed by their meals. My partner wasn't impressed by the large piece of cauliflower in a literal pool of olive oil for his appetizer, or the spinach drenched in oil with his salmon, to the point he had difficulties with eating it. My mother ordered a ribeye medium rare, and it came mostly well done to nearly overcooked in sections. There were a few misses for sure with some of the meals. But the others were just as rich and excellent as I remembered, and their specials were not to be missed! Here was the best of what we had:Appetizers: They had a white asperagus that v had been imported with a little seafood topping and sauce; my mother complained that the portion was small for the price, but the flavours were out of this world and I hadn't experienced anything quite like this sweet and savoury dish. My escargots were delicious as usual, and this is one of my favourite places for them (though there was a general concensus that there can never be enough garlic). The frogslegs were so delicious with a little sauce that really made then. The deep fried lobster was delicious; I'd never have thought to do that with such a delicacy and it was very good! Some must tries, all of them!Main dishes: I highly recommend that you get their special on the venison of you're going there soon! The sauce was rich and the meat was so tender! The veal was also an excellent choice from their main menu and had a thick and creamy sauce as well. I personally enjoyed the lamb shank and the truffle gnoochi, a strong rich flavour and very filling.Dessert: they started us with a small pear palate cleanser that was so delicious! And then finished with a chocolate crocodile that was very professional. I also had the meringue souffle with creme anglais. It was so nice, fluffy, and comparatively light after a rich meal, I highly recommend it!White Wine: I generally love a very sweet and smooth white wine, and their gerwurtztraminer hit the spot! I'm picky and this was so delicious, several others at the table also picked it up.Overall, if I wanted to save up and plan a special event here again, I would! Really delicious, still one of my favourite places I've eaten! Be prepared for the price, but I nearly had to be rolled out of there by the end of the meal. Very satisfying.Service: We had a large group of people booked in advance, and the table was ready for us as soon as we walked up. Please note: the cost of the reservation funds will be returned directly to your credit card, not removed from the bill the table, so you can more easily book through one person and pay separately. They were excellent with their service, and meeting requests for a caraffe of water for the table and replacement small plates and removing an alcoholic dressing on one their pallette cleansers. One drink was missed later on in the night, but they were good to apologize and made sure not to include it on the bill. They managed odd pairs of people paying and a restaurant gift card without any issue. They did an excellent job overall, and were a real pleasure to deal with.Parking: we parked at the lot across the street under the Scotiabank theater, about $8 for the evening after 6pm. Good for a carpool and a full evening.

Sasha K: Le crocodile is a true 5 star fine dining experience; the table settings and greetings into the restaurant alone are always immaculate. From every detail of the service to food, dining here is always top tier. I truly appreciate the wine list and their sommeliers experience in serving and pairing the wines with dinner. The food is also always as exceptional as the service and atmosphere. The foie gras crème brûlée is a standout as well as the frogs legs, escargot, and wagyu steak. Though, all dishes are exceptional and make traditional French delicacies seem more approachable. My only critique from my most recent visit would be the accompanying toast to the steak tartare. The bread was very reminiscent of sliced white bread toast and was not the most enjoyable. A nice crostini or crouton would have been better in my opinion. All in all, le crocodile is a standout in Vancouver’s fine dining scene and a must try.

J Y: A very good meal where the flavours blend very well together. The tartare was excellent as was the onion tart and the classic tomato soup. Lamb shank was very good and scallops very fresh. My only displeasure was the souffle as it was not light and airy. It was very foamy and had strong egg taste unless to mixed it with the creme anglais. Service was impeccable. We very much enjoyed the dinner and will be returning in the future.

Fair enough, it is a hassle for the restaurant to deal with this. They plated the cake and used piping to decorate the plates with chocolate and caramel swirls. They also garnished the plate with mint and whipped cream! Wow! So impressed.The food of course was fantastic.

We also shared the deep fried oysters which were delicious.Our coffees were constantly refilled for us (thank you) and Anais brought us the tastiest dessert which happened to also be one of my faves...
