Fairmont Waterfront: what do users think?
Stefanie Wills
Stefanie Wills: The staff, location, and food is the reason why I’m giving this place two stars. However, the rooms are very outdated and rundown. I’ve literally stayed in better two star hotels. There were no outlets at all on one side of the bed. There was noise from both the hall and outside of my room from the ships. It was very difficult to get any quiet time. I asked for a room move but was told the only renovated rooms go up to a certain floor. The photos are very misleading. The view from my room was nice but had to pay for the upgrade. Also, no mini fridge, only those annoying fridges that if you move anything you get auto charged. So tacky. Also, the shower/bath combo is old and tiny.I checked out and went to the fairmont pacific rim down the street and so happy I did!

mhgodfrey06: We LOVE staying at the Rosellen. The rooms are spacious with full kitchen. It's an older building I believe it was converted from an Apartment. If you need 5 star boutique, this is not your place. However, if you want a very nice place where you have room to live and you value being able to prep your own meals.. This is your place... Oh and if you want to be able to access Stanley Park and the Seawall right out your front door, book the Rosellen. The staff are wonderful and there simply isn't a better location in the English Bay/Stanley Park area.Walkability: Stanley Park the Seawall are steps from the front doorNoteworthy details: The Rosellen is Pet Friendly

Sharon Meredith
Sharon Meredith: Make sure you read the information in the emails around checking in very carefully. There's a lot there and it isn't clear so it's easy to miss. It would have been helpful if the person who my husband spoke to when he called to ask some questions mentioned some of this.An important thing to note is that you are likely to have problems getting in at any time of day without the keyless access code so make sure you email to request it.The place itself is okay. But the oversize parking leaves your vehicle hanging into the street. It is getting run down but seems more or less clean. The location isn't great. It's not really easy walking distance to anywhere and the access by car is kind of convoluted.Bottom line--if you're looking for a less expensive place to stay near downtown Vancouver you could probably do a lot worse. Just be prepared to have a big hassle getting into the building and plan your day accordingly.
Andrea Alleyne
Andrea Alleyne: I don't even know where to start. The check in at this hotel is one of the most bizarre things I've ever experienced. Apparently nobody works here past 5pm, so I was on my own with a bunch of suitcases and locked out of the building. I buzzed in 5 times before it allowed me to gain entry (the connection was so poor the buzz in monitor kept disconnecting) which was beyond frustrating when all I hoped for was a luggage cart and service. Which I got neither. I quickly realized the hotel issued me 2 rooms when I only booked 1. I called who I thought was the manager who seemed very helpful on the phone and told me not to worry, just to go down to the front desk in the morning and they will help me... yeah right. The next morning I go down to the front and I was greeted by the "general manager" who loved to tell me repeatedly his title. I was absolutely disgusted with his hygiene, his breathe made my mother leave the room and I could barely stand talking to him because of the spit and smell coming out of his mouth. Of course there was no help from him, he just gave me lecture after lecture on how I booked 2 rooms... which I clearly did not when I received only 1 confirmation. In the end, I went through the 3rd party booking site which they were very kind and helpful and corrected the issue. The rooms were dated but very spacious, the 3rd floor hallway smelled of pee though.Never in my life have I received such poor customer service especially from a "general manager". I hope he finds himself a course on how to treat patrons properly and a toothbrush.

Susana Spandier
Susana Spandier: This is by far the absolute worst 'excuse' for a 'hotel' I have ever encountered. I spent over 45 minutes standing in the rain in a dimly lit entrance way trying to use the reportedly 'useful contactless' intercom service to get into the hotel. I spoke to 9 different people(clearly some hired phone service from another country) who were mindlessly reading through a script, who repeatedly dropped the call and who clearly had no idea about the location or system in this particular place. Luckily, another poor soul who was unfortunately staying at the 'hotel' came out and passed along another phone number. Once the local manager was finally alerted to the situation, he was condescending and rude. The room itself had a moldy, old smoke smell. Indeed, the furniture was reminiscent of 'Thrift quality pieces' which were heavily stained, and also had a very dingy aroma. I ended up putting the towels over anything I sat on. Finally, in a city where renting is incredibly expensive and elusive, it is odd that this building was clearly an apartment turned hotel. The owners are using this as a cash grab with minimal investment and a total lack of concern for anyone who gets duped into booking a room in this dump. Just don't do it. There are many better, inexpensive lovely places to stay.

PAZ Development
PAZ Development: You will like this place. My suite is a two bedroom. The decor is eclectic, cherry wood dining table with overhead chandelier. Corner china cabinet with crystal for drinks, floral tea set. Beds are comfortable one ensuite one full bath by 2nd bedroom. Fireplace with cherry tv cabinet beside, one cherry murphy bed with large cabinet storage, one pull out couch, comfy. Fully functional kitchen, large fridge. Hardwood floors throughout, except kitchen large terrazzo tiles. It is CLEAN. Only one small area carpet under a crate like storage box, that looks like it was used by someone immigrating in the 1920's. Maybe from a Red River Trail families china and antiques storage box. The apartment is clean and attractive, fresh paint. It is an apt building from the 1950's. The foyer was open bright clean with seasonal decor throughout. The garage is heated with recycling containers available. The location to English Bay, Stanley Oark, Denman, Roson, W Georgia Street, the Howard Hughes Weston Bayshore and marina, is excellent. You can easily walk to each location. It has a Katherine Hepburn penthouse suite where she could have had friends over like the Chief Justice and friends. I booked through TravelZoo and paid $149.00 a night. The apt is warm when needed and you control the heating and air conditioning. It is not wheelchair accessible though there is an elevator once inside. Maybe there is something.

Devon Hume
Devon Hume: I got a two bedroom suite for my mothers 70th birthday, I called again to upgrade the room and ensure we had the best time. I added a crb and high chair for my daughter and gave let them know we had two vehicles. So all in was about $900 for two nights. And the place was not only dated but downright dumpy. They knew I had a toddler coming and yet there was armed snap traps for their rodent problem. I wanted to know if this was just in case… it was absolutely not, they have rodent issues. I pulled the stove away from the wall and there was a mouses toilet back there. The pictures online are not a good depiction of the rooms. The cupboards are all but falling off. The room keys work once and then quit. I would pay more a go anywhere else.

Sharon Chatenay
Sharon Chatenay: If you bring your kids, a dog or both, this is the place to be!We came for business at the Vancouver General Hospital, only a 20 minute seaside walk away.I've stayed in downtown Vancouver many times with all the noise and bustle, and lack of greenspace. No such thing here. So convenient with Kitslano and its dog beach only 2 km away, walking oceanside to literally everywhere.Charleson Dog Park is also nearby with an Oceanview! Beautiful grassy areas with lit pathways right out the hotel doors , also a playground for the kids. The hotel staff and restaurant servers were attentive and very approachable. Rooms were well appointed, comfy beds and had a view of the ocean. There was a nice business center on our floor, also a bonus if you're working away from home.Parking was a breeze with surface self parking at 20 bucks a day. Access to the other side of Vancouver across the creek is easy with the shuttles and aquabuses everywhere. Want to paddleboard, kayak, sail, or rent a boat or go whale watching? It's all here. Bring your bike or use bikeshare to ride the amazing seawall that connects Kitsilano , Granville to Stanley Park and beyond. This is the only place we will stay at for future trips. What a gem!Rooms: Nice, clean and comfy. Not huge but adequate Some have small balconies . There's a hottub, ex room and sauna on the 3rd floorNearby activities: Everything!!!Safety: Accessibility may be a challenge for wheelchair users Check before you go . I saw people using walkers and such, but there is uneven surfaces throughout the area, old rail car tracksWalkability: Very walkableFood & drinks: Delicious food at Bridges Tap and Grill Seafood is the best here

M M
M M: I'm not sure how this classifies as a 4-star hotel. Lobby, service, restaurant and gym, sure -- 4-star worthy. But rooms? Dingy. Worn-down. Steel entry doors with reinforcement so you feel ever so safe. Sliding barn-style doors on closet and bathroom that don't slide easily at all. Carpets of questionable design, age and cleanliness. Shower fixtures loose and under-powered. Beds that creak and rattle just from getting in or out of them. Top it off with Wifi that's slow, at best... I could go on.Price-wise, you get what you pay, I guess. Parking is underground, and while it's not cheap (about $37 with taxes to self-park), it's not as bad as some neighbouring hotels. Just be warned that it's a 6' clearance -- so most SUVs won't slide in there.Positives? Staff and bell service were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was fine. The gym was handy, but not all equipment is working or in good repair -- and by the sounds of it, the hot tub is out of order more often than it's usable -- and it was out of order for my visit, too. The restaurant is pricy, but has nice views over the street/harbour.All in all, it feels like the Pinnacle has lost its shine. I'd choose one of the other nearby options before coming back here -- and there are a lot of other hotels in the area. Our room was a "harbour-view" that peeked out at Coal Harbour through an enclosed balcony.

Mitesh Vekaria: I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From its prime location to its top-notch facilities, this hotel truly exceeded my expectations in every way.First and foremost, the location of the Westin Bayshore Hotel is absolutely superb. Situated right on the picturesque waterfront, it offers breathtaking views of the harbor and Stanley Park. Being able to wake up to such a stunning vista every morning was truly invigorating. Moreover, the hotel's proximity to downtown Vancouver allowed for easy access to the city's vibrant attractions, restaurants, and shops. Whether I wanted to explore the bustling city or take a leisurely stroll along the seawall, everything was conveniently within reach. The facilities at the Westin Bayshore were nothing short of impressive. The rooms were spacious, elegantly furnished, and exceptionally clean. The plush beds were incredibly comfortable, providing a restful night's sleep. The hotel also boasts a wide range of amenities that cater to every guest's needs. The fitness center was well-equipped, allowing me to maintain my workout routine, and the spa provided a serene haven for relaxation. The outdoor pool, surrounded by lush greenery, was an absolute delight, offering a peaceful retreat with stunning views of the harbor. The hotel's attention to detail in maintaining their facilities was truly commendable. The staff at the Westin Bayshore Hotel were outstanding, delivering excellent service with genuine warmth and professionalism. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm smile and made to feel welcomed. The staff members were attentive, accommodating, and always went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was memorable. Their knowledge of the area was invaluable in helping me plan my daily activities, and their recommendations for local attractions and dining options were spot on.Additionally, the dining options at the hotel were exceptional. The restaurants offered a variety of culinary delights, and the quality of the food was outstanding. Although they could cater more for vegetarians.I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in Vancouver.
DEBBIE BRACEWELL
DEBBIE BRACEWELL: I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Margaret Au: We LOVE staying at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver. Not only does this waterfront hotel offer wonderful views of the harbour, the marina and the city, its location is within walking distance of Stanley Park if you like the outdoors, or Robson Street if you prefer to go shopping or cafe- or restaurant-hopping. Also, there are plenty of bicycle and scooter rental places nearby.Courteous and friendly crew members; rooms are bright and clean. Can use some upgrade to provide more charging ports for modern devices but still acceptable. Good upscale restaurants in the hotel and plenty in the vicinity offering a wide variety of cuisines to suit any budget. Room service was also good.If I must include a negative comment, it would have to be my shock of the century experience with room service! I had a late dinner one night due to work demands, and really needed coffee. When I ordered room service, I wanted to get a pot of coffee to help me through the night. When I was told there was no coffee available at that time, it was simply incomprehensible. Yes, a first world problem but I have never encountered that in all my hotel stays so I was seriously shocked and … “disappointed” was nowhere close to how I felt at the time. Other than that, everything was great!
Mer Kava
Mer Kava: Great location now ran by liars. I have been a guest since 2005 always in a Tower suite with Harbor View. Beautiful and convenient for a morning run in Sydney Park. I have also held three national corporate events (300+) over the years. Got in yesterday evening for a one nighter. Something looked off with the front desk staff, I asked confirmation that i was headed to a Tower room, she told me no, that was not the reservation but had the best room in the hotel. I confirmed it would have a Harbor view and a terrace. That was lies. My office i of course booked a Tower room, Room 904 is not the best in the hotel (that is a wood panel suites somewhere else I had a board meeting in years ago), no Harbor view and no terrace. I called the duty manager in the morning and was served another lie (reservation on Expedia, which my office never does). Not a word of apologies let alone a placating gesture, a very abnoxious attitude which is not what one would expect or need to get in the hospitality segment Westin operates in. Sad to strike the Westin Harbor off the list of accommodation our company uses but no guest need to be lied to.

Fairmont Hotel Vancouver: what do users think?
Sarah Greenwood
Sarah Greenwood: An exceptionally modern hotel, room, bar/restaurant - everything you would expect for a very healthy price! Or should I say, top dollar. Amazing experience form the minute we stepped foot on the driveway out front. Exceptionally nice staff, healthy food and delicious drinks. The hotel rooms are like luxury condos, however, the TV's could do with an upgrade.
Jay Joyce '74
Jay Joyce '74: Disappointing at best...My wife and I stayed as part of a Regent Cruise Lines off-ship Vancouver excursion. We have stayed at various Fairmont hotels in the past, and always had a great experience. Not this time. After the first evening, we went to breakfast with what we thought was plenty of time to spare. Upon arrival at the Notch8 maitre d's desk, we were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for the breakfast buffet - even though we could see numerous empty seats in the dining room. They explained they were short-staffed. I asked to see the hotel manager, and only the desk manager was present. I expressed my concern, and said that at a minimum, we should have been told when we checked into the hotel to expect delays in breakfast service (because we had a morning time commitment). He was not aware of the problem. When I said that I would like to speak with the General Manager about the problem, he indicated that the GM had not yet arrived, and he did not know when he would. However, he said that he would have the GM contact me. The GM never contacted me.The make-up mirror light in our room was not working upon arrival. The next morning (same day as the breakfast problem) I stopped by the Front Desk, and the receptionist logged in the problem and said they would have it fixed that day. When we arrived back in our room that evening, it still had not been fixed. I called and they said that someone would be up to fix it. An hour later no one had appeared, and I called again. Same response - they'd get someone up to fix it. An hour later, after no one appeared, I went to bed.Next Day - breakfast - no problem - they had opened more space, leading me to wonder why they could not have seated us at an empty seat the day before...?At 8:15 AM, asked to see the manager to discuss my concerns; same desk manager appeared and said that GM was not in yet. I told him about the lack of response regarding the maintenance problem, and that the GM had not contacted me the day before. Polite reaction, but no actionable response on his part. When we left the hotel at 8:30, the GM had still not arrived. We were told by one of the dining staff team that there have been recent cuts in hours. How can this be possible if you're already not providing the level of service that Fairmont guests have come to expect? After three visits to Vancouver over several years - all at Fairmont Hotels - we will NOT stay at this hotel again, and not recommend it to others.

Room service food was average, and our bathroom was a little small, but the staff was all 10/10 fantastic. We can't wait to stay here again, either as a romantic getaway or as a family-friendly option. Great location with city views. I can't compliment the staff or environment here enough!

Will Lin took exceptional care of us during check-in, and was readily available with any assistance that we required during our stay, including being most professional in always calling us by name. The bell and parking staff were also extremely polite and professional. A ten minute walk to the pier and convention center, this location is near anything that you would require including a massive amount of restaurants and bars. The room was fantastic, clean, and we were fortunate (thanks to Will Lin) to get a room with an awesome view of the port.
Matteo Bocci
Matteo Bocci: 4,5 stars. I spent five nights in this hotel for a business meeting. It is impressive how this huge hotel is run in a seemingly effortless fashion. Everything was really good. My room was spacious, clean, with an excellent view. The bed incredibly comfortable, and the service almost impeccable. The only minor point I believe can be improved is the coverage and speed of the Wi-Fi connection. Perfectly located, really convenient to walk pretty much anywhere in the city. Thank you for having me & looking forward to another stay!

The location is near to downtown, depanneur, etc. Only thing is is that Granville street does have a lot of homeless. they are not harmful or agressive, but it is deconcerting. After 11pm, you need to present ID card to get in. room facing the main street can be noisy so if you are a light sleeper, you can ask for a quieter room.

Room was very clean and housekeeping did a good job. Location is great, lots of shops and activities close by (Stanley Park, Waterfront Station and Seabus to North Vancouver, Robson and Davie street for shopping), although it can get quite rowdy in the evening. Can hear street outside but not too loud. Staff were excellent and accommodating, especially regarding luggage storage prior to check-in and after checkout.Slight downside is that it is close to the hospital so you can constantly hear ambulances (about 3 per night).Rooms: Clean rooms.Walkability: Close to downtown and lots of buses available. Anna Marie Witthohn: I was in love with this hotel !! It’s right next to the beach, it has some really fun interior design, and the service was above and beyond truly. They seriously had someone standing by the front door who opened the door for me every time I came out or in. Talk about being made to feel like a guest! The whole time they were just so accommodating and nice and helpful. They gym was small, but also, it’s a 3 minute walk from the beach so why wouldn’t you just go running there ?? That’s what I did. The sauna was incredible tho. I really loved it here 5 stars y’all rock !

Roger S: The pub food is absolutely disgusting - this used to be decent place, yet they've gone completely down hill. Had lunch today and our Asian waitress with limited English could only point at menu items, respond with 'ok' and smile. Our burgers where beyond gross....thick dry "beef" patty, wilted lettuce, old hard bacon served with large cut greasy fries. No effort, care or attention - perhaps the dishwasher made it due to being short staffed?? Upon entering the hotel lobby, we saw a male staff member with a grocery bag filled with provisions scurrying towards the kitchen - how tacky! I guess they expect their customers to be drunk in order to eat the garbage they shovel out??? Very, very disappointing as a Westend local of 30 years to experience the deteriation of what was once upon a time, a great place to eat when they actually took pride in their food quality. Will not return or recommend going forward.

Dan McCrossen: Perfect location, but this hotel needs some serious attention. The rooms are decent, but the exterior looks pretty run-, down. Stay was very nice, but I left my Firestick in the room (you can't connect it), then called to see if they found it and they said "no", meaning they DID find it and someone kept it. Not cool.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Edwina Caparelli
Edwina Caparelli: The only reason I didn't give the room a five stars was because we were over the bar, but we knew we were going to be. I'm a cleaner and I found the rooms to be very clean. I inspected it like I would inspect the cleaners at my job, they took the time to dust in places that normally you would not check. The hotel staff was super kind. There was a programming error with my card key but I think the onsite manager or maintenance person was super helpful. The bar downstairs was a gem--such good food. Waiter took our order without taking any notes and got it spot-on. The food was so good and the price even better. The location is perfect because it's right on English Bay; you have so so many options for food! The cactus club is across the street, you've got endless middle Eastern restaurants, your choice of Starbucks or Tims. Transit is right outside the hotel. I will be back next trip. Price was right too!

Fairmont Pacific Rim: what do users think?
Hossein s
Hossein s: We went to the Botanist with friends. The food was excellent. Especially the lamb was delicious and fresh.Obviously this place is fine dining with its special prices. The food quality was indeed at the level of its pricing. My only issue with the food is, and this very subjective, the presentation was over crowded.

Tim C.: A bit of a background, I have a very long history with Fairmont PacRim ever since I discovered it back in 2012. I have made many return visits several times a year and basically obtained Accor Diamond status just from Fairmont stays alone.A lot has happened since my last negative review of this place. It was in the transition to a new management team and new staff on the gold floor. I am happy to say that all of my issues with my previous bad experience have been rectified, and it is now once again among the finest properties I've had the opportunity to stay at. (Even compared with some of the most exclusive European boutiques!)Jasmine and her entire Fairmont Gold staff have everything dialed in. They remember our preferences, and try their best to make each of our visit special from extremely generous upgrades to little things like setting up desserts in our room. Although a lot of familiar faces have left to pursue new ventures, I am really liking Jasmine and her team. Her attention to every detail is what makes our visits so wonderful, and I am looking forward to enjoying many more stays at this world class property.

Vincent Silver: Above and beyond the usual strengths from the Fairmont brand (prime locations/ luxury amenities), this particular Fairmont delivers on an experience that is second to none. The service is tirelessly outstanding and consistent from the doormen, front desk, bellhop, dining, bike attendant, valet to the concierge. The foyer has a bustling vibe but it’s so well staffed. Dining is busy as well so I appreciated how eager staff are to accommodate. The established work culture at this location is so rare to witness these days (it’s why I’m writing this review). I booked with my Amex this time and received more perks than when I booked directly with Fairmont in the past. Regardless, with or without the perks, this hotel offers incredible value; Canadian hospitality at its finest.
Sam Wong
Sam Wong: Location is amazing. Room is not styling but very well settled in details. Room amenities are upscale. The harbor view is stunning. Food and service in the restaurant are fabulous and impeccable. However, the service from Front Office staff is not up to par which ruined the whole experience of our arrival AGAIN in two months. Last time we booked the partial harbor view room, but we got a room on the very lower floor with buildings and swimming pool view in March. Today we check in at 5pm, we were informed that the room is not ready. We booked through AMEX ( been called “the 3rd party” from Front Office) which is entitled noon check-in if available. But considering it is long weekend we chose to check-in late in order to get the room instantly while checking in. We were shocked while the FO staff informed us that the room was not ready at that moment. After a chat with the Front Office Manager, we immediately got a clean room which is exactly our room type. We were even more upset with the experience, so we were wondering why we could not get the room which is already been cleaned and ready to check-in. Instead, the Front Office wanted us to wait since room is available. We have stayed with Fairmont for years with Accor member. While we were trying to let the front office hook up our reservation to the guest profile, they told us they could not do it, and kept saying that as the system been changed, there’s no guest data been kept in their new system, except for Accor member. Front Office Manager was shocked when we let her know that we do have the membership.I am not sure what exactly the reason why they did not provide us the ready room while checking-in. I did not know the excuse that why they refuse to look for the guest profile.I just feel like we are not welcomed to stay at Pacific Rim.Maybe I should book through other channels instead of through “the 3rd party” like American Express.Sure thing is for our next staycation, we definitely won’t stay with Fairmont Pacific Rim

Nader El-Ramly: Stay at the Pan Pacific downtown due to some unexpected renovation nightmare. Turned it into a tourist in my own city vacation. Staff were amazing, great rooms and beautiful views! The location is perfect.Walkability: Great walkability. Close to lots of attractions downtown Vancouver within 15 to 20 minutes walk.

Stefanie Wills: I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff, food, location and value are all wonderful. My bed was so comfy. My room was on the 19 floor and I had a very small room but it amazing view of the harbor and mountains. My only gripe was that because of the automatic curtains they do not go long enough and the bright light woke me up every morning at 6 am and the seaplanes outside make a lot of noise. I hoped to have a soaking bath but the large bathroom and shower made up for sit. Other than that, it was perfect!

Shailesh Dalmia: Disgusting check in. Long queue. Each check in taking about 15 mins per guest! I mean wow! In todays age n time when it usually takes in about few mins. Were Centurion Card members and had put in an early request for check in at 12 noon but they allotted room only at 3.15. Waited for more than 3 hours. We kept on checking with the check in desk at regular intervals and they said that the room was being cleaned. This continued on for about 1.30 hours. We guessed that they had taken a “vow” not to allocate the room before 3.Anyways we waited. No choice. At 3pm, still room not alloted. Thats the time we decided to meet the Guest Relations manager. I just asked her that such a big hotel, couldnt they accomodate a single room early. The Guest relations manager replied with a curt no. I would have expected her to be a bit apologetic but her behaviour was rude. She said were just 15 mins late and looked as if its a big deal! Then she asks me what can she do? Im not the kind of client who looks for favours. Not me! Would have appreciated a simple sorry and a body language being sorry about it. But this was: WoW! She was not bothered. This is really sad. It seems just business for her.Ive stayed earlier at the hotel and would hold it as one of my most favourite stays.Really disgusting this time. Not staying next time for sure.
