thomas0209: Very good hostel on a central location. They have a nice bar, a big lounge next to the kitchen, plenty of showers with free shower gel and shampoo included, good wifi, organise trips etc. Only negative thing is that in this part of the street some hobos and junkies hang around at night, they were harmless but it gives the area at night a less warm welcome vibe compared to Cambie Gastown hostel. But this hostels offers the best facilities.

Romulo Lopez: Worst Hostel I've ever been they kicked me out with any reasonable reason at 7am, they didn't let me have my breakfast, which I had paid, they didn't give me the fear refund they had to give me, and when I mention to see the cameras to show they where wrong they refuse to do it. I don't recommend any one stay at this hostel, go to Cambie Hostel cheaper and better for sure :)
Vincent: Rude noisy staff. Disrespectful and dishonest individual who should not be working in the hospitality industry.Feel free to cover for your fellow staffers, lie to your boss, on-site security, yourselves or even the police but that's only one side of the story. I think it's important to get in touch with the management and set the facts straight. You have my contact info.
venkat kiran: For a hostel this was much better than expected, bit on the pricey side but I guess that’s what’s expected when the hostel is right in downtown Vancouver. The daily free tours are awesome and Donny who was our guide was great as well. Daily breakfast was fine and did the job nothing fancy, you do need to come in early though as it gets emptied pretty fast and the staff can be slow with refilling. The one complaint I have with the hostel is that the ventilation in the rooms is bad, the corridor and outside are cooler but I was cooking in my dorm.Bathrooms on every floor and there is a laundry room as well (although I never used the laundry room). There was one or 2 occasions where I could not access the bathrooms on my floor because they were all full ( But then again I have experienced this with most hostels )One thing to consider with regards to safety is the number of homeless around Granville street, I never faced any issues with them during my stay but it is something to consider. All in all I recommend it as it’s still a decent value for money especially since you are located in downtown Vancouver and that lets you see downtown Vancouver all that much easier.Walkability: Very close to the metro station that has a direct connection to the airport. Downtown Vancouver is generally very walkable.

siobhan: The free breakfast and tours make it a great place to stay. The bagels are lovely and fresh and beds are pretty comfy. It is loud but worth it for the inner city location. Carmen A: Great stay for the price! It’s located in a busy entertainment area, but not noticeable in the day. Feels safe at night with the amount of people and the hostel has a security guard. The private room with bathroom was clean and tidy with a nice concept. Perfect place to stay for a night, especially for a concert. Easy to walk places and shopping area close by. Transit bus also within walking distance and seven eleven on the corner.Place has a GREAT BREAKFAST.Staff are so friendly, helpful and polite. First time hostel stay was a great experience. The surrounding area is noisy because of the entertainment area at night but the hostel is not noisy. Just be aware that this is shared space so you’ll have some people showering at all hours. Bring ear plugs and you’ll be fine! 😂
Stephen H.: The Beaver is a great pub
Candy Barndon: Staying here for my near end of tour from Australia, was a little rocking at the start with organising the rooms and stuff but since then it's been smooth. The bever (pub down stairs) great fun and vibe, everyone is friendly and also the ability to go on free tours accessible from the lobby is just such a great vibe and idea the host of this Donny is incredible and very knowledgeable truly has made the day and the trip amazing and worthwhile. Thank you Donny 😊
Steven: The breakfast in the morning was great, there were fruits available! Room was clean when I checked in and provided towel service. Donny was an amazing tour guide for stanley park and I had a great time.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Neel Bhimani: After looking price, I cannot complain too much. People are good. Rooms are sometime not very clean. Good breakfast but I missed orange juice. My 1st cheak-in was smooth not though 2nd. So it depends on your luck. But if you're visiting a single person, it is not a bad choice. The best thing I liked was it's location. Even though during nights, it is not safe to go outside.
Sonja S.: Had a lovely stay! The staff and people all around were super friendly. The hostel overall has a nice vibe to it and offers tours for free, only transportation costs have to be paid (although a tip would be nice!). Our tour guide Donnie was doing his job expertly and aditionally to all the relevant information gave us loads of insider tips. Donnie's tours really brightened the experience for me and made me stay longer in Vancouver!

Jasper Johnson: This is definitely the best hostel I’ve stayed at. While the rooms are simple, they do the job and have plenty of plug sockets with a light and fan for each bed.Free breakfast is great, lots of bagels with coffee and plenty of other bits.Great communal room with large kitchen to relax in.Highly recommend going on a few of the tours. The tour guide Donny is great, taking you to all the best spots in Vancouver as well as some hidden gems.

Aryou Manousi: Do not go to this place if you want a good night sleep. I had to put my noise cancelling headphones on to be able to sleep. You have to pay extra for towels (it’s free every other hotel I’ve been to)
Caroline Crutchley: Friendly and great location. Bit on tatty side. Shower rooms have no dry area and too small . Great kitchen and social space but always too hot. No ventilation. The adjoining bar pumps out loud music until way past midnight. So don't expect a quiet night. Location is a winner if you need Canada Place tours or cruise terminal.
Natsuora: Didn’t sleep well last night due to a customer sneezing and release noise frequently. When I told front desk about the situation they immediately changed my room. Finally can have a good night here…Regarding this is the cheapest hostel I could find in Vancouver, and in such an amazing locations, I’m pretty satisfied. Though, there is a lot to improve! Looking forward for your change and next time I come to Vancouver, I’d still like to stay here for a few nights:)
Hsien Chih Shu: Let’s just say they have a tons of space for improvement like…a lot….Would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this place to any travelers who wish to have any sleep, particularly during the weekend because of the bar downstairs. The hostel has a cute cat though…👍
Guilherme Guedes: Very nice hostel. Great service, nice and clean facilities at a fair price. Couldn't try the bar because even though I was told by the staff it was going to be open, it was closed at 1h am.
Jose carlos Vazquez jimenez: Very nice hostel. Great service, nice and clean facilities at a fair price. Couldn't try the bar because even though I was told by the staff it was going to be open, it was closed at 1h am.
Henry David Martínez Pérez: Very nice hostel. Great service, nice and clean facilities at a fair price. Couldn't try the bar because even though I was told by the staff it was going to be open, it was closed at 1h am.
Matt Suddaby: The guy who works the midnight shift is less than useless. I had the displeasure of dealing with him twice, and both times were awful. Not only is he snarky and rude, but he provides false information and doesn't even bother to try and help you. On our first night, we asked him if it was possible to upgrade to one of the private rooms, as we had someone joining us the next day. He told us that there was availability and that he could do it, but we just needed to come back with the person. Fair enough. We returned the next morning, and the morning staff tell us that the information given to us the previous night was completely false. They were nice enough to refund us for the remaining nights, as we now had to find a different place to stay.Later that day, I realize I had forgotten a shirt at the Hostel. I return to retrieve it, but unfortunately, the useless guy was on shift. I asked him if he could go see if it was still there (even gave him the EXACT location of the shirt) and without a thought, he said no. I asked why, and he shouted "people are sleeping" over the blaring music coming from the bar which is DIRECTLY under the rooms. What a joke. After staying just one night let me tell you NO ONE was sleeping. He again displayed a very "get out of my sight, I have better things to do" attitude. So, I give up and try again the next day. Whoever was working the early night shift (~8pm) was FANTASTIC. Not only did he check the room to see if the shirt was there, he even checked the cleaner's rooms after learning from another guest that the cleaners had taken the shirt that day. If only I had dealt with him the night before. He went SO above and beyond to find my shirt. If you're reading this, THANK YOU.The shirt was never found, and I assume that the cleaners probably stole it. (It *was* a pretty awesome shirt). Overall a nightmare of an experience, but what can you expect from something this cheap?

maize thb: worst stay ever. The building is old, dark and dirty. Especially the toilet and shower room are hell. Making love started in the middle of the night in the shared room, and I couldn't sleep at all due to the worst noise. I asked for a room change the next day, but they didn't change it. I felt like I was in prison.

Laura Hay: I love hostels but despite some historic charm, this place is just an uncomfortable all around.Don't book here if you want to sleep, music from the bar below plays until 2AM and vibrates the beds on the second floor.Front lobby smells like pee.
Mountain boy Oakley: Too all you new comers too Canada, if you don't like the Cambie go home. I love the Cambie, and too the haters from India. The is what it is, there are other places far more expensive. Enjoy the day Haters

L B: Would it be too much to brew large batches of coffee for the morning crowd? HI Kelowna, SameSun, and many other hostels provide at least a free cup of coffee. There’s enough propane being burnt into the atmosphere from the 24 kitchen stoves that boiling 8 litres of water would be easy. The coffee at the late-opening DICED downstairs is recycled (tastes like syrup), and Breka is 2 km away. Not sure if the new Canadians working here are travellers themselves, but Canadians like a cup of Joe in the morning and people generally don’t travel with a Bodum, Kuerig or a Milita.

Akshaya Chandani: It’s one of the best places to stay in Vancouver. Very tidy and has all the facilities in the world you need. The location is amazing ;close to ubc ,the beach ,and downtown . Carson Schmidt: So close to being good!I’ve stayed at several HI locations throughout Canada and this was easily the most disappointing. The building needs an overhaul to keep up with other local hostels and rentals.POWER: This was the biggest issue by far. Charging devices was slow and difficult and my adapters constantly fell out of the power outlets in common rooms. The dorm bunks have no power at all which is super disappointing.CLEANLINESS: Even for Vancouver, there was an excess of decay, poorly ventilated bathrooms, and mouldy surfaces. Staff seem to do a decent job cleaning but the building itself isn’t built to deal with the humidity. The ceiling of the upstairs showers are coated in water droplets because the ventilation is so poor.PRICE: The price was quite cheap compared to other local hotels but very expensive compared to hostels elsewhere.MUST HAVES: Portable power bank, shower shoes, eye mask, ear plugs. As an HI member I’d love this location to meet the standards set by other HI Canada Hostels. It’s a shame that Samesun in downtown beats this location by nearly every metric at a similar price point. After a renovation I’d be happy to stay here again.
Maciej Franczuk: Interesting experience, definitely worth a try if you’re travelling. Place was really historic, wouldn’t say it was super clean. Good location, front desk staff were really friendly.

Dan King: Got a private room here for one night, went to a concert Downtown Van. Kind of out of the way, near UBC. This can be a plus or a minus, depending on your preferences. It was about a 15-20 dollar uber to downtown. The building itself is pretty cool. Really old, almost an asylum feeling to it hahaha. Probably haunted, I don't know. Staff there were friendly, facilities were more than adequate for my purposes. The room was nice enough, though the mattress was kind of thin. I don't know, that could just be me being picky. Good place. I'd probably stay here again, though there is a HI in downtown Van, it was under renovations when I stayed here.Walkability: Close enough to the bus stop for the bus that goes downtown, about 10 minutes, but I wouldn't expect to really be walking anywhere from here.

Zahra Taboun: This was a decent place. I stayed for about a week and I would stay again if I have to. My experience was shared by others that left reviews, but I will talk a bit about mine. This is a UBC residence that is run as a hostel over the summer. The rooms are hot and get stuffy super quickly. there are no screens on the windows so if you open it, there is a chance some bugs will fly in.The closest bus stop is a 10-15 minute walk from the hostel, so that may be something to consider. I didn't mind the exercise, but I understand people have different preferences. There are also no elevators, so make sure you request a room on the first floor if you need it.There is a lounge with a fridge and a microwave. No utensils or plates or bowls or anything like that. The washrooms are shared--there are about 4-5 shower stalls and 4-5 toilets per floor. Never had a problem waiting when I needed one.The mattress was absolutely awful. I could feel the springs in my back. The pillow I was given should hardly be considered a pillow. I ended up sleeping on top of my clothes to try and get a softer surface. I started to really feel this around day 5 of my stay, which appeared to be my limit. After that, I was in pain most of the day.Overall, my major complaint was that you could hear everything going on in the rooms next to you...I mean every tiny sound (like zippers being zipped), even with the windows shut. The person next to me kept blasting music at 3 am, which was absolutely awful. For the price, this is a great place to stay. Super cheap for Vancouver. It was nice to get a private room and I felt completely comfortable while there and leaving my stuff behind when I went out for the day. My recommendation would be not to stay here if you are relying on a good night's sleep.I would stay again for a short visit, but I don't think I would stay more than 5ish days.

jerome choy: Great place great staff
Brent Murdough: Great place great staff
Duyoo Gong: What a pricey option to stay. I'd rather go Kits or DT then.
Ellen Schoenmaker: The single private room was clean, with linens and towels provided, and otherwise a typical freshman dorm room. $2/day router rental to get WiFi in the room. Shared washroom, thin mattress, microwave and fridge in common room. Keycard access to the building (the rooms are outside the check-in building in various dorms), physical key access to the room. The trail and stairs to the beach were a 5 minute walk, anything downtown 45-60 minutes via bus with ~1km walk to the bus. It was exactly what I needed, in a peaceful location, and decent price for being in Vancouver.
RRM: This hostel is a dormitory during the school year so I think its important to remember that when setting your expectations. If your here traveling this hostel is far from the city centre so I wouldnt recommend it. If your looking to get away from the chaos of a regular hostel then this place is certainly much more relaxed with half older guests and half young. Its nice to get a private room at a decent rate. The grounds are really nice and food can be found near by. I rented a router for wifi for $2/day and it worked perfectly. Bathrooms and showers were just fine. Common area and kitchen were fine.Unfortunately everything I didn't like were kind of thr basic comforts. The beds are awful. They are rock hard , I like a firm bed but this is like prision style hard. Ive actually hurt my back being here. They dont have A/C so youll want to open windows but none of the windows have screens on them. Which is a big problem as this area has lots of mosquitoes, bees, flies, etc. So your kind of forced to live in a hot box or be sleeping with mosquitoes. Now the absolute worst part about this place are the doors. The walls seem to be solid. I can't hear sounds from other peoples rooms but its like the door is made of paper you can hear everything clearly going on in the hall but worse than that... These paper thin door are heavy as bricks ALL of them slam. Its CONSTANT. I feel so bad for the students who actually live here . I have no idea how they get any sleep or studying done. Its beyond loud and has made for countless sleepless nights. Its hard to find a hostel at this price in Vancouver thats not a dorm or in party district. So I would probably stay again if i had to but next time id bring a matress pad and earplugs.
leung benny (summer): This hostel is a dormitory during the school year so I think its important to remember that when setting your expectations. Vero Campos: Personal atento, lugar muy limpio, cama un poco incómoda y puerta que rechina. Fuera de eso está muy cerca de la parada de bus, tiendas y demás dentro del campus. Del centro está a unos 20 minutos tomando la línea 44
