They even refilled my waterglass if I had to change one thing I would say maybe not deep fried potatoes for the hashbrowns but anyways, it was great.
Lissy Mitchell Salt: Emelle's did a wonderful job making our wedding cake, so much so there was actually none left after the wedding! Nicole was awesome during the tasting and put us at ease and even suggested things that we hadn't really thought of. The whole process was great and we went back multiple times as we weren't sure on flavors. We would have had them cater the whole wedding if the venue didn't already provide food. I would recommend them 100% for any event!

Marijana Busch [Pavlovic]: Emelles did an absolutely amazing job catering our September wedding. Nicole was great at working with us to create a menu that we were in love with. We ended up being offered two tastings just to ensure that all menu changes from the first were to our taste. On the day of, food was absolutely superb and our guests loved it as well. There were a lot of compliments, especially for the Mac and Cheese. The catering staff were also excellent, getting everything prepared, set up, served, and coordinated.

Mayana Ambers: $20 (with tax and tip) for a sandwich that was just ok with a TINY side of gross soup that was flavorless and had maybe 1 small sliver of turkey and almost no veg in the "turkey vegetables rice" soup... tbh Campbell's would be better. Not worth the money for what I got.. won't be back.

Caitlin Will: We used Emelle’s for a buffet style dinner for our backyard wedding (60 people) and had a great experience. The food was great, lots of options and we enjoyed the tasting experience and flexibility of the menu. They were also very flexible and worked with us to design the right package (we hired rentals from another company and also supplied our own alcohol and mixers). But the part we were most blown away from was the service staff. We had two servers, a supervisor, and a bartender and they were all amazing. The servers went above and beyond to clear plates and even helped us stack away tables and chairs which we had ordered through a separate rental company. We also had a guest leave an expensive pair of designer glasses on a table which were safely put aside by the servers when they cleared the tables, would have been a really easy thing to pocket so we appreciated the honesty. While I didn’t catch the name of the servers, the bartender (Shauna) was amazing. All of our guests so enjoyed her company and she was so professional and tolerant of all the affectionate and friendly guests who probably talked her ears off. Our guests all had nothing but positive things to say about her and her bar service. Would definitely use Emelle’s again for future events and recommend for a wedding like ours!

I'm not usually one that writes reviews like this, but I've never been so disappointed in service, let alone it was on my wedding day so here goes nothing to share my experience.My partner and I went with Emelle's for a buffet style reception and were excited after our tasting. On my wedding day, they delivered the wrong salad and main, after double checking it with the coordinator. I also had to nudge the service staff to help clear the table. There was such a lag that my mom actually started to clear away the plates..... When I went to ask for help, the 'service' staff were relaxing on the sofas inside.Other things of note- I asked that champagne and our pretzel apps would be offered to guests on arrival, both weren't done. So if you are looking for quality service and no hassle on your wedding day, I wouldn't recommend. Quite embarrassed to say the least for below the bar service.Oh to add to it, there was a measly discount provided for the mis-hap. No call from the manager and a delayed response.On a positive note- the guests thought the bartender was fun.

Nikki Stephenson: The other day I had ordered a sandwich for lunch with a side salad and there ended up being a hair in my sandwich (3 bites in). The situation was handled quite poorly. I brought it to the attention of the lady who brought out my lunch, and she apologized and said she would bring it to the kitchen to let them know, and that was the last of it. I had already paid for my lunch and I left a tip, when placing my order and only got to eat half of my sandwich and my salad. This is not my first time coming to have lunch here, but it is my first time experiencing this. Needless to say, I am disappointed :(.

Jared Cochlin: I approached Savoury City with less than 72hrs notice for a reception being hosted in our office. Monica (corp. Catering Coordinator) did not hesitate to step up and help out! Took a large amount of stress off my shoulders knowing we would be able to have some delicious canapes to serve (vs some store bought trays). They delivered on time, food was excellent (all were enjoyed!), and the customer service was top notch. Will definitely use again for any future function! Recommend!
Monica Loeppky: We had a series of four open houses for our staff at our new office location. We gave the team choices from the Boxed Lunches Menu, and it was a HUGE success! The food was delicious and the staff enjoyed the variety of options. Thank you, Savoury City!
Michael Fanning: When looking for a caterer for our Mom's Wake in Vancouver we came across Savoury City. You can read the reviews, but until you actually engage the people, and have the event all you have is hope. Well, to say we were impressed would be an understatement. While I found the price - for me - was a 'little' high, in the end I was happy to pay - Why? This company was excellent with the communication before the event, the estimate was straight forward and easy to understand (and there were absolutely no surprise along the way, none, not one). Then came the event. The staff were so professional, they were there but not there, they did their thing and we did ours. The FOOD was excellent - it was the equivalent of going to a good restaurant - I got lots of compliments from my family. My summary for them would be "Integrity, Good Communication, Definite Value, and Ohhh, Ohhh, the Food". They helped to make our Mom's Wake very special.
Lois Layne: Unfortunately this was a very toxic environment to work in. The staff were not paid overtime during countless events One staff member was told he could not go home for his lunch break. The turnaround for staff is remarkable and says a lot about how it has been managed. In the last decade, Donna has gone through at least 6 chefs and kitchen staff.
May Chow: Savoury City Catering was amazing from start to finish. We ordered a selection of sweets, finger sandwiches and a large cake for our party and everything was beautifully prepared and presented. The cake was exactly how I requested and the taste was incredible. The food came on time and fresh. We would not hesitate to hire them for future parties.

Irene Parrilla: Savoury City just nailed it! I needed to organize an event for 95 of our clients the past Friday, so I got in contact with them and Matias and Sarah helped me to make it happen! We ordered their "Afternoon Tea" menu + coffee and soft drinks. It was delivered perfectly on time, with trays, pates, cuttlery, thongs, cups etc. They help me to set it all up on the tables and left us with a couple of framed menus to put around. We received veggie plates, different types of sandwiches, fruit plates, and several more with desserts. All our guests were happy and satisfied with the food so I would definitely recommend them. S Tong: We hired Donna and her team at Savoury City for our wedding at the UBC Boathouse. Food was the most important part of our wedding and we are extremely happy that we went with Savoury City on this one!Donna was organized, professional and passionate with her work. She worked with us and our planner to develop a custom family-style menu that incorporated the specific elements from Chinese cuisines that we wanted, into dishes that are also welcomed by the western palates. During our menu tasting, my spouse and I were so impressed by all the dishes that we were convinced that they were made by someone who grew up in a Chinese household (and we did meet the head chef later who was of Chinese background). For one of the appetizers, the chef even re-created a dish from our favorite restaurant. Donna and her team were also open to all constructive feedback, even though there were few, and we felt very comfortable sharing our honest opinions on the tasting.Donna’s team took allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously. In addition to a few guests with relatively common allergens, we had a guest who had allergies to multiple common ingredients (e.g. gluten, garlic, onion, mushroom etc.) and Donna’s team was able to work around those and curate a special plate. Their thorough consideration covers not only what ends up on the plate, but also the marination process and what ingredients the sauces are made from.On our wedding day, Donna’s team brought our menu to life and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! One of the feedback we got from the guest was "when they brought out the braised short ribs in the end at first I thought it was chocolate cake and I was like ok that's an interesting follow up to the menu. And then when the wait staff set it down I realized it was a MOUNTAIN OF MEAT!" Needless to say, all the food was enjoyed, including the mountain of meat. While waiting near the kitchen entrance, we also enjoyed catching a glimpse of Donna running the pass checking on each dish before sending it off to “table 1” and “table 2”. It was so cool to see and we had no doubt that the guest experience would be everything we expected and more. Donna is a true professional through and through and it was such a pleasure to be working with her and the team.Thank you Donna for the amazing food, dedication and service level of your team at Savoury City!

Emilio D: We called last July, a year in advance of our wedding, they told us to call later on in the summer because they weren't taking bookings and emailed an info package. I called again when they said I should and they told me that they're putting people on a waitlist and we'd hear back in August and if we emailed we should be on it, but they couldn't find my name. I asked if they could check my fiance's name and they told me again we'd be on the waitlist if we had previously emailed.I felt they were a bit rude on the phone so we went with another company. It's now almost October and we still haven't heard back from them.

Deborah Vieyra: Getting Chef Lekker to cater our wedding was the perfect decision. He is an incredible chef, phenomenally easy to work with and brings with him an excellent team. I am South African and my new husband is Canadian. He tailor made a menu that reflected both countries, reflecting our union in the food we enjoyed. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is now our go-to person for any events we may need to cater in the future.
Brian MacLeod: Happy to recommend Chef Lekkar and his team. Wouter and Brae delivered a well-planned and well-received standup dinner service for nearly 30 in our small home. The price was competitive and Wouter offered plenty of flexibility with the menu ideas. He left our kitchen cleaner than he found it and everyone enjoyed the selections. Being a standup service, it was important that all the dishes were easily hand-held. Some were in takeout style noodle boxes, others in edible shells, all were easy to enjoy. Thank you.

Jason Doolan: *Twins 50th Birthday Backyard Party for 35*Chef Lekker did not disappoint! We found him online and were impressed with his favourable reviews. He was incredibly easy to work with: responsive, accommodating, friendly and calm as a cucumber! His attention to detail and extensive menu choices made him the perfect choice. The day of the event was well prepared for and executed flawlessly. He selected an excellent server for us, ‘Bry’ who was professional, personable, and a true ‘addition’ to the party. Guests loved his food, my personal favourite was the pork tenderloin bites with blue cheese and pear and the mini ‘rosti’ tops (shredded potato, Swiss, smoked salmon and sour cream). Every dish was presented with attention to detail. He estimated the perfect amount of food and even added a dish at the last minute to make sure he didn’t disappoint. We would certainly choose him again!

regor oz: Wouter, aka Chef Lekker, lived up to his pseudonym... the food was delicious !!! from an interesting appetizer, salmon wrapped zucchini rolls to a delicious balanced main course including stuffed chicken escalopes with a medley of vegetables and "aligot", a french/basque potato dish with garlic and cheese, and finishing off with one of the smoothest and well balanced crème brulée I have ever eaten - even better than the majority I have eaten in France.His service was impeccable and as a person he was amiable, and easy to work with throughout the entire experience from planning to production.I only have highest praise for the dinner he catered, and find that his quality/price to be equitable for the work he puts in and the product he presents, and encourage others to tempt themselves with this upcoming chef.
Kara Thomas: We had Chef Lekker over for our staff party, after hearing about his service from friends. The party was a great success and the food was exquisite. Besides cooking all the food, he also served it. My favourite was the tuna ceviche and mini beef wellington. He was a great asset to our party and will use him for future business events and parties.
Jaap Verbaas: We hosted a dinner party for 10 in our small appartment in Vancouver. Chef Lekker cooked up a true seafood storm, including lingcod ceviche, salmon tartar, home made breads, scallop gnocchi and balsamic marinated strawberries. All the seafood was fresh and local. He is very easy going and was able to make everything work with a combination of his own dishes and some of ours (we did not have nearly enough for hosting a dinner party for 10). He was able to converse fluently in Dutch, German and English with our guests. I highly recommend him.
Mark Gibbon: I've had the pleasure of eating Chef Lekker's food on a number of occasions and it is consistently delicious and fresh! To top it of Chef Lekker's service is fun and easygoing. Highly recommend.

Kara: Mark and his team did such an amazing job catering our wedding. Everything was professional and communication was excellent from the start. We were looking for a primarily gluten-free and vegan menu and they were one of the few caterers out there willing to work with us to make a custom menu (and for a fair price). The food was great and a lot of our guests were really excited for the vegan sausage.They did such a great job and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them!

Justin Mazey: We could not be happier with the food and experience we had with Catering Visions! Mark and Candice were very quick to respond to all our inquires. We modified the menu a few times before our wedding day and they were able to provide updated pricing each time and tell us whether or not they would be able to do certain foods. Our wedding had about 120 people and we are still receiving compliments about the food. Prime rib, chicken thighs, horseradish, seasonal salads, mashed potatoes and all the other food items were unreal! I think nearly everyone went back for seconds and thirds! Strongly recommend Catering Visions to anyone but be sure to book ahead as they get super busy during the summer!

It was so delicious and such a good value. They gave the wedding party such good service, making sure we each got our own plate of appies! They are really friendly and always answered our questions quickly leading up to the event. The tasting was delicious! And the food and service the day of the wedding was great. Sophie Bromley: We used Catering Visions for our wedding and they were outstanding!!! We had multiple guests come up to us during or let us know after the wedding that it was the best food they’d ever had at a wedding. Everything was absolutely delicious. Mark is incredibly sweet and personable and made sure every detail was how we wanted it. There were lots of selections in terms of packages and specific food choices so we were able to choose exactly what we wanted without settling for anything. The servers at the wedding day were wonderful and it could not have been a better experience. Plus, incredible value for the price especially compared to all the other options out there. Highly recommend!!
Michelle Grimkowski: Catering Visions catered my wedding this past weekend and was exceptional! The food was to die for (I even had a huge plate of seconds), and we have had many messages from our guests about the food. Mark and Candice made the planning process easy, with great communication, a free tasting and we're extremely flexible in menu changes to accommodate allergies. We were also hand delivered appies during our photos which I found to be over the top, unexpected service! Would highly recommend!

They catered our wedding last night (August 12th 2022) and we were blow away, almost everyone who attended either told us or the catering staff personally how incredible they were. Weather wasn't very helpful but we had a great time! Highly recommended they have flexible prices and lots of knowledge in food allergies.

Erica Sheehan: From the start of our correspondence with Just Right Catering, we knew that it was going to be a great fit. Communication was fast and friendly and prices were up front. We were given detailed lists of everything included in the price we were paying per person and it was easy to customize this to fit our specific needs. There was no hidden costs or extra charges. From the tasting to our actual wedding, the food was hands down delicious. It tasted so fresh with a perfect compliment of flavors. So many people asked us for our caterer’s name afterwards and people went up for seconds. Also as important as the food, the staff played an equally vital part. We found the staff very professional. They worked with our wedding coordinator so everything happened on time and we really appreciated all the friendly attitudes of the service staff including the bartender. Plates were cleared fast and efficiently and the staff was conscious of being quiet during speeches. The small details really make all the difference at a wedding and this catering company is defiantly aware of that. One of the best decisions we made for our big day!
Dan Yang: We had Just Right Catering cater our wedding reception, from the time we started with sending emails to inquire to the end was very very pleasant! Email response was very quick and to the point, everything was explained with great detail, also scheduled a menu tasting which was a very pleasant experience. The catering crew came in, food was fantastic, service was fantastic, my guests really enjoyed the food, I talked with Mark from Just Right and he was not just professional, he was very kind and really made this experience a pleasant one. Prices were great and they took good care of us. Really recommend this catering company to all! Thank you guys so much! :)

Also good value for money compared to the other so called gourmet caterers that provide child size portions of abstract art.There was one small miscommunication with the catering staff but hardly a sore point.Would recommend.

The details of the venue, menu & times changed constantly in your efforts to save more & more money & with hindsight I should have been aware that the plan was not going to work, had you have taken my advice and had a staff member on site to take care of the home made Canneloni I am sure things would have been different.As far as the cost I did offer you a considerable discount in the hope of trying to make things right, the cost was not just for the food, it included the large amount of rentals & equipment you also required.Once again I am truly sorry you feel this way :(
Beta Formal: Just Terrible food & service.Food was dropped off 2 hours early, so it was lukewarm and the cheese had hardened by the time it was eaten. This put a strain on our event as they came before we even had the room booked, despite the fact that I emailed them the correct drop off time prior to the event. The staff didn't know when they were supposed to pick up the food either. My guests all said it would have been better if we'd just done a potluck, that's how bad the food was. I called the Manager to try and get some sort of compensation for his company's mistakes, and instead of being understanding he absolutely berated me on the phone, eventually settling for $75 off the original price... I paid over $1000 for 3 pans of bad pasta & horrible service.Save your money, event, and dignity. Don't deal with this company.

I’m also doing this will all of my favourite places- PLEASE stop charging extra for gluten free bread. It’s so awful for us celiacs who did not chose this diet. We already sacrifice taste, quality and bread size. We will never eat a croissant again. Please don’t charge us.

Mohsen Khalkhali: This review relates to catering and not the cafes.Beware of misrepresentations by the team on the quality and amount of food. Make sure to check out exactly what they will deliver in-person before you agree to anything. The pictures on their website and explanations by their staff grossly overpromise what they deliver.We placed an order of "Serving cheese & fruit (v)" for 43 guests and "Serving house made tortilla chips" for 25 people. They told us that it included delivery and set up of the table. They did not set up the table for us. The "Serving cheese & fruit (v)" platter food was hardly for 10 people, even for bites and nibbles. We counted only 3 pieces of figs as "fresh fruit"! The picture below is the table we set up ourselves. The Serving cheese & fruit (v) at the centre is what they had said they'd deliver but we had to add 90% to it to become what you see in the picture.Finally, as this was a disappointing experience, we asked the owner for a discount to settle the bill and put this behind us. However, his lack of understanding shocked me even further when he came back saying "you will be hearing from my lawyer for collection".Unpleasant experience overall, stay away. There are plenty of other options in Vancouver that you can go to who respect you as a customer.
