Bahram Barry Bakhtiar: I have been going to this place for a long time. Even well before Douglas took it over. Doug in a charming person to deal with and he certainly knows his cheese. Both the assortment and the prices are good and I have recommended them to a number of my friends, as I do here.
Mat Good: Been going here way before new ownership. Have supported this shop from day 1 . Told countless people to go there. All of this completely unappreciated by the owner who couldn’t see fit to accept one of his products was off tasting even though I had bought it numerous times . Will not be returning. Florian Escoffier: Cheese use to be good there, but twice in a raw I tried to buy some fourme d’Ambert, which is supposed to be a very sweet blue cheese, from France where I am from. The one that I bought there the last two times were extremely strong stronger than Roquefort stayed in your mouth for very long time… no doubt than the cheese is way past the due date (also not white anymore but kinda brown) I was even mor disappointed when I returned it and the guy said that the cheese is good it’s the way it’s supposed to be !!!!!!!! Yet factory sent it to him that way … obviously he don’t know this cheese ! It’s the one reason why it’s my favourite cheese for its sweetness !Not my fault customer if the cheese have stayed in duty for weeks or any other reason. It’s unfair to make the clients pay for that. I won’t come back anymore to this shop and go to ‘les amis du fromage’ even if I have to do few extra kilometres at least the quality is controlled there.

Frederick Gadd: Great cheese, and great advice about cheese, at a good price.This place has its downsides. Cash only, no phones allowed (and 4 signs saying so in a 10'x15' shop!), and I had to wait in line for half an hour despite only having 2 people ahead of me when I got in, while he casually chatted with the others.To a degree these "downsides" are also the flipside of the positives.. so I won't deduct any points for them, but it's hard to see what harm it would do to let people browse their phones while they wait in line for so long.

The aged Gouda was great, but my favourite was Le Pizy, anIf you need cheese in Vancouver, this is the place to go.If need be, I hear they can even make sure you have enough circles, triangles and rectangles of the cheeses you pick;)
Alasdare Fuller: We've been buying their cheese for years now even before when they were at Kerrisdale. They know their cheese and we love them. Be warned once you tasted real Benton brothers cheese your palate will never be the same.
Kang: First, I just want to stress out how much I love this store and their cheese. I always make it a point to come by here whenever I am over at Granville Market. I've never been disappointed as I am today when I opened my newly purchased cheese. Finding a curled up hair on top of it really made me lose my appetite. Will still go to this store next time since they have amazing selections and the attendants are usually nice. Hopefully, this kind of thing will not happen again.

But then the rest of the service! The staff member helping us made suggestions, asked questions and listened to our responses, and made recommendations based on our feedback. Holy cow, these cheeses are amazing! If you want top-notch cheeses from knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive staff you need go no further!

Alaleh Black: This cheese is the best vegan cheese I've ever had. Hands down. I have 4 types in my fridge at all times.
Laura Carolina: Good selection of vegan cheeses, made from cashews, coconut or almonds, and cultured, just like dairy cheese - “microbial fermentation and aging.” Imaginative recipes. They also sell a few other vegan food products here.

I've loved their collabs with Say Hello Sweets and Flourgirl.Blue Heron is a Vancouver gem that has helped me get through the pandemic by leveling up my meals at home!

Michelle: Worker wasn't communicative nor friendly I felt very awkward in such a small space because she wouldn't explain to me what anything is. I looked around, still wasn't much to look at I'm not familiar with any of their products. I was hoping she would explain more when I asked her some questions but instead her response was brief with a sarcastic tone and she continued to go back to ignoring me on her laptop. It was my first time there and I gave their big lemon meringue croissant a chance. Also as a dairy free place I made the assumption that this was also gluten free, they should make clear labels that list the ingredients to customers. I found out it wasn't but still wanted to try since I'm not celiac but dieting. The taste is fine, what you would expect from lemon meringue, but if you're looking for a quick snack to nom on as you're walking down the block do not spend $7 unless you want it to drip on your jacket, clothes and bag. She did warn me to "be careful" though I didn't know the amount of filling inside was so much.

Emily and Jack: I went to an event that Blue Heron catered. They were late setting up the platters and I was shocked to see them reprimand the guests when they went to eat the food in front of them saying they were not ready yet. I heard numerous guests be told off around the room for eating their food which I've never seen a caterer do in my life. Tables bursting with food, and hungry guests being told off for taking a cracker. So instead, all of the guests stood around the table and awkwardly waited for the staff to set up. The linens were wrinkly and the staff were unfriendly. I recommend buying Blue Heron's products, but I would stay clear of their catering.

Danny Y: Prepare to be overwhelmed. There is just a vast selection of cheese / fromage / käse / etc. here. The staff are very friendly and take the time to make suggestions and guide you.Understand that Canadian food laws limit the kinds of cheeses that are available compared to other countries. But regardless you can find pretty much anything to suite your palate.They also have a selection of meats, and there is a bakery two doors east which makes it very convenient.

I would highly recommend this shop, and this location as they are much better priced than many others (including their west Van location, it is worth the extra drive to get out to this one). Frances Atsuko Xu: Haven't been to Les Amis du Fromage in ages...this was my first visit since before Covid started. Some other reviews said that the prices of the cheeses were high, but you can order as little as a hundred grams of a cheese and taste-test it to see if you like it. I like that the signs on most cheeses describe their tastes and the clerk is very helpful, even to a newbie. You don't have to go broke to enjoy really good cheeses and meat. Bon appetit! Oh yes, another plus is that street parking is free for an hour and easy to find.

Disappointed that it didn't get there before Xmas or even new years, but appreciate them getting the replacement sorted.[Original] It is now 1 January and I’m still waiting on a delivery that was due 19 December. I cut them slack for the snow, but have had no response to my 2 emails asking where things are at. The expedited shipping I paid for still says it hasn’t progressed past generating a packing label so it looks like nothing has even been shipped. Starting to wonder if these guys are even legit or if they may be a scam… So much for a nice gift for my grandpa this year…

Alicia Nightingale: I was originally quite disappointed with my experience with Granville island delivery co, but after reaching out they made the appropriate corrective actions.I received a $35 gift card when GIDC was using their old business model of selecting individual items and I didn't get a chance to use the gift card before the current model of artisanal gift boxes. As a student trying to use this gift card I didn't feel that it made sense for me to get most of the really expensive boxes. After corresponding with the team at GIDC and waiting many months I finally settled on getting the Local Chocolate Lovers Box which was the cheapest available box. Once I was able to order the box, it was delivered on time.I was disappointed with the quality of some of the items in the box and did not feel I got the value for my money (Which with shipping to a nearby Vancouver address came out to be $85 for 2 chocolate bars, a tiny sample size bar a small bag of caramels and chocolate almonds!). Specifically I had issues with the Chocolatas packaging on both their products. They felt like something I would get at the drug store. Especially the candy cane bar which had cheap looking packaging, lazy use of candy canes, and a bit of plastic still on some of the candy canes! It was also a bit disheartening to open the massive (though beautiful) gift box the items came in since there are only a small handful of items in this box and their was 10-15x the extra space that was needed. They should have a smaller size for the smaller baskets.I expressed my various concerns with GIDC and they were able to send a make up treats box in order to show me that the products they endorse are of quality, are in fact made by local artisans (which didn't come through in my first box) and can meet the price points.

In search of closing gifts for my clients I was delighted to learn how the owner, Michelle, pivoted from Vancouver Foodie Tours to offering a meticulously curated selection of the finest goods Granville Island has to offer. It is one of my favorite places to visit in Vancouver, and they did an amazing job packaging all their tasty treats and home essentials according to my specific needs. I complemented the gift with a Japanese chef's knife from Knifewear, and it gave possession day the wow factor that feels like an extension of my brand. I highly encourage supporting local business through this phenomenal service.

marie baker: I ordered a hamper for my son to be delivered to Squamish on the 21st Dec (I placed the order on the 9th Dec) in order for him to open in on facetime to his grandad who is in the UK and who is end of life. It is now 30th Dec and still no hamper has arrived.I am completely appalled by the service, of lack of. All the customer service person could say is 'we use Canada post, its out of our hands, I hope you understand'. It is the company responsibility to use the appropriate courier service if they advertise that I can choose a delivery date. My Dad pinned a lot on that day, and he is very disappointed......hence this review "I also......hope you understand".Thankfully I also ordered from SaltSpringGoods who did manage to get the item to my son before Xmas Day.
