Arthur Chan: I've done levels 1-3 with Sophie and she is an awesome instructor! She guides us through class like it were some mental yoga, so that we learn and advance a lot, even in spite of a long work day. As a native speaker, she effortlessly imparts knowledge about the subtle (and not-so-subtle) nuances of words and usages/conjugations. I'd been trying to learn German on my own for years, and already my French is stronger than my German! If you want to learn French for second-language fluency (e.g. for travel or for citizenship), you won't go wrong taking classes with Sophie, at Learn French In Vancouver. ~Merci beaucoup!~
Hannes Girgis: My wife and I were in Vancouver for one week and decided to spend some time taking conversational French lessons. Our instructor was Sophie. She was fantastic! We took advantage of the nice weather by not spending much time in the classroom and instead, explored the city. Sophie doubled as a French teacher and tour guide. We explored Stanley Park on bicycle, walked Kitsilano Beach and visited multiple French shops and cafés, ordering our lattés and croissants en français. It almost felt like a French immersion experience in Vancouver. Sophie is a delight to spend time with. She is patient, kind and very good at keeping the conversation going. Overall an excellent experience. Highly recommended.
Faisal Alsubaie: I am having a beginner class with Solene and she is very nice and she explains very good. She also provides materials that will really help you to success on learning French.
Anita Patel: Eloise is a great teacher who is easy going and is able to get the teaching material taught. The class size is small so there is personalized teaching. Furthermore, my french improved rapidly with with French 1-2 and 3.

(especially for beginners)I had just completed the Beginner 1+2 class and I would say, it was quite a joy to have both Anick and Lea teach us the basics and foundations of French! (They even included some vocab and differences between France and Quebec Français and I really appreciate that!They really try hard to make the learning environment comfortable and safe where mistakes are encouraged even, cause how will you learn if you didn't make mistakes?Merci beaucoup!~
Carolyn Neapole: I had a great experience taking private lessons through Learn French in Vancouver. My teacher was Anne, and she was welcoming, a clear communicator, and very willing to adjust the content of the lessons based on my particular learning needs and style. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone wanting to brush up their French language skills.
Galen Schram: I began lessons with the goal of eventually going to France with a working holiday visa. I took private lessons with Noëlie for one year, right up until my departure. To say it was a great experience would be an understatement. Before I started the course I was asked to specify what I wanted to achieve, which was to develop speaking skills/gain confidence with the language. I knew a very little bit of French already, but I was nowhere near the level I wanted to be. We began with core course material and as things proceeded it became more personally tailored; for example I would be asked to prepare a topic that I was interested in for discussion and then we would speak about it in the lesson, or we would work on vocabulary/grammar that was aligned with my needs. Towards the end we were spending significant portions of the lessons entirely in French. The prospect of learning a language was daunting for me at first (I have always struggled with nerves in general), but Noëlie was always patient and encouraging and I came out the course feeling empowered, like a door had been opened to a new world. As I write this I am seated at a table in Lyon, day 5 into my working holiday and the success of Noëlie's teaching is already clear. Can't recommend her enough. Thank you.

Challenging and fun without being stressful - Frédérique is creative, friendly, interesting, and really knows how to work in a flexible way at the student's individual level. Taurean Lord: Excellent classes run by a sincere group of teachers!!I lived in Quebec for some years but I could never speak French fluently. I always wanted to learn and master the language. That is when I heard about Learn French. I registered for their Level 1+2 classes and found them really helpful. Our teacher Ms.Jennifer always encouraged us to ask questions in the class and created a learning atmosphere for us, where we always stayed curious and challenged. I am now pursuing Level 3 of the course and can introduce myself and share my favorite recipe in French. All thanks to Ms.Jennifer and Learn French team :)

MJ Jenvey: Great place to learn French with online courses. In addition to courses there are lots of other events available to participate in to practice your French.
Ann Le: I signed up for a class at level A1.3 at L' Alliance Francaise after self-studying for a while. It was hard at first because I did not expect that the class would be 100% in French. I was almost about to give up after the first 2 classes but I'm glad I didn't. If you feel the same, please keep going because after the first 2 classes, your brain will pick up the language and get used to it. My teacher, Nathalie, is great. She makes learning fun and engaging which is difficult to do for an evening online course. I also find the structure of the textbook is great. The amount of grammar and vocabulary per lesson is reasonable.I would highly recommend L'Alliance Francais to everyone who wants to learn French either as a hobby or for a job.
Celeste Munger: This is an excellent French language school. They teach children and adults. My teenager is doing very well in his classes there. The office staff are really organized and communication is great.
Doe Jane: I came here when I was 15/16, and had a terrible experience. During the oral part of my B1 exam, the two examiners LAUGHED every time I answered something. Full on LAUGHED- didn't even try to hide it. I understand I might have misinterpreted the question, but that was rude, unprofessional, and completely uncalled for. I was young then and it really affected my confidence in my French. Shame on you.
parnian rezaei: Alliance Française is a great language institute for improving your French. I think the price is also so worth it. The people at Alliance Française are always nice and it's always a pleasure to talk to them and to learn from them. They also offer online lessons which work much better for me since my schedule is all over the place. Their in-person lessons are also just as good (I have tried both). I highly recommened Alliance Francaise.

Holly Horwood: I love the Alliance Francaise classes - they are structured, yet informal enough to feel very comfortable. The instructors are fabulous, and great attention is given to ensure you are enrolled in the correct level. In particular I love the workshops which are a great way to get a condensed version of a grammar point or subject in two, two-hour sessions. Money well spent.

Kathryn Dykstra: I started in-room classes with Alliance Français in Aix-en-Provence early in 2020, and upon returning home in early March continued with the on-line program offered by the Vancouver franchise. The transition was not easy at first, but I persevered, and enrolled in a second section with a different instructor, Yann Desbiolles. He is an excellent instructor who manages the large class in a way that is kind, encouraging, focused and fun. There are moments when you can even forget that you’re on Zoom.I hesitate to say more about Yann for fear that booking a private lesson with him will become even more difficult than it is now.

C R S: I really value the wonderful teachers and librarian they have here. I always look forward to speaking with the people I have met through the Alliance. It is so nice to be learning French in this way, through conversation with other francophiles. There are so many cultural events that I am interested in and it has enriched my life many times over. Although I had originally planned to be there in person, COVID has brought us all online and I have been very pleasantly surprised by how the cultural center has taken advantage of this situation to leverage international discussions and presentations and cultural opportunities, and even to bring us digital resources and art. I am happy that I have been able to participate online with such a vibrant cultural center. I highly recommend them!

Jesús Montero: I began my mandarin studies with Key Language from scratch over 18 months ago. It's been truly nice to build such a friendly learning community together with teachers and class mates. I find very positive that the teaching approach has evolved to best support each stage of the learning process, from pinyin to casual conversation and initiation to characters.I definitely recommend Key Language to those looking for some personalized mandarin training in a friendly environment.
Meggan Chung: I just finished Module 1 and really enjoyed it. KLT focuses on practical conversation language learning and Module 1 was a good foundation for this. Our instructor, Linda, is super knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and willing to tailor the content to the class' needs. The audio tracks for each chapter were helpful to become familiar with the sounds and pronunciation. I loved the class size (4 in our class) - perfect for language practice. I'm looking forward to continuing to Module 2 in the near future.
Neti Neti: Completed Level 1 Mandarin at KLT.Although I had signed up for Richmond location, there weren't enough sign ups. Suzanne and Ping suggested me to shift to Downtown or Burnaby location. I chose Burnaby.Teacher Sophie was very patient and I definitely recommend her. Mandarin was a challenge for me, but she helped me to overcome my obstacles and made the experience an enjoyable one with her stories and videos.Another good thing is if you miss a class at one location you can catch up at another location. Class size is limited to a max of 4 people and this is almost like getting private tutoring. Teacher Wendy at Downtown location is also excellent.I would definitely recommend KLT for anyone planning to learn Mandarin in Metro Vancouver!
Hilda L: Really appreciate the small class group learning environment, as it gives me and my fellow classmates plenty of opportunities to practise what we have learned in class. Most importantly, we are not just reading/learning the material from a book, additional information, e.g.sentence structure and Chinese culture, is clearly explained to enhance learning experience.
Nas Makkiya: One of the best experiences ever. I started taking classes at this awesome establishment in the summer, Mandarin being my fourth language to learn, I had some expectations, which they blew past. Classes are always designed small, which makes it possible for students to get more attention. Like many people, I came to Mandarin fully expecting it to be difficult, however, their style of teaching made me realize how easy it was. I just finished my second beginner module and couldn't be happier.
Bernard Portier: My private lessons were very successful. I feel that I made significant progress and I can now converse confidently with my limited Mandarin. Sophia is a great teacher. She corrected my prononciation, taught me words and phrases and was very attuned to my needs.

Classes are flexible and can be designed to what the student needs to develop in terms of their language skills, whether it be conversational or professional. My instructor Lucy is dedicated to her profession of helping others develop their language skills while always being extremely prepared, personable and caring. Suzanne maintains an informal, yet professional atmosphere with Key and its teachers which is very conducive to a very positive overall learning experience.

Carey Ditmars: This is the second course I have taken at Key Language Training. The positive attitude of the staff and students is encouraging. The classroom and seating is comfortable and conducive to conversation. We tell stories of our week to the class and do weekly written assignments which the teacher corrects. This gives us the opportunity to practice new words and so our vocabulary increases every week. The class size is small and there is time to stop and ask for help if we don't understand.

Staff and management were professional, knowledgeable and most importantly, caring.We also used key language training for translations and they had a fast turnaround and well executed interpretation.I would recommend this school. Gabriel Lee: I found that two months of class at Key Language Training (KLT) surpassed two years of attempting to learn the language independently through various softwares. The teachers here encourage participation from each student in an engaging environment, allowing me and my fellow students to get lots of repetition in both speaking and listening.Now, I feel much more confident in my abilities to interact with others in Mandarin after just one semester at KLT, and I look forward to developing my language skills with the centre in the future.

佐藤正: これはあくまで自分の経験談なので。改善されている事を願う。以前に通ったことがあるけど、自分にとっては全く良くなかった。失敗だった。午後の授業はフレンズ観るだけで終わりとか、午前の授業でもまともな先生もいたけど、下ネタばかりの先生がいたりとか。通っている生徒数も少なく、クラスメイトも日本人だらけで日本で英会話学校通ってるのと変わらない。日本人スタッフがいて、英語で話せと言われたから出来無いなりに英語で話したら（出来無くて勉強したいから通ってるのに）英語を話せないことを馬鹿にされた。授業料が他校よりも高くその中に全て含まれていると説明されたのに、レベルが上がる毎にテキストを買わなければならないと進級の時に言われた。日本人スタッフに聞いてないと言ったら、説明したと嘘つかれた…つまらなすぎて午後の授業だけでもキャンセルしたかったけど、返金してもらえないので渋々我慢して通っていたが、今考えるとお金は無駄になるけど午後の授業だけでも切り捨てれば良かった。本当お金と時間を返して欲しい。日本で一生懸命働いて貯めたお金なのに。別の学校も見学に行っていたのでそっちにしとけば良かったと本気で激しく後悔した。カナダでの最悪な思い出の一つ

morvarid amani: I took the online course for about 6 weeks. My teacher was amazing, and I loved my sessions with her, although I'm very upset with the person who was supposed to organize the classes. After asking her to send me my schedule few days in advanced, she was still always very late with the the timing of announcing my schedule. and she didn't even let me know that my package was finished. I had few more courses in that package and she didn't ask me if I would like to continue and save the package or not. Very very unsatisfied with her!

Petuu: I took private french lessons 2 times a week, for about a month. They were definitely what I expected. Lessons adapted to my needs, teachers were natives, I could choose a schedule that fitted my routine, and overall, the experience of studying at Berlitz was really good.
Nastassia Machaj: The teaching technique at Berlitz is truly the best way to challenge yourself to a new language and really forces you to focus and learn. Beyond that, every single staff member I have met at Berlitz has been incredibly kind, gracious, and welcoming. I couldn't be happier with my choice of choosing Berlitz.
Harman Singh: Great place for learning high class, top notch English - Especially in the context of writing skills. The instructor is just on point with making me understand what makes writing English great. Moreover, Task achievement, coherence and grammatical accuracy is what this institute is really master of and really understand in depth( not the same case for other English schools available in Vancouver ). I highly recommend them. I studied at their Vancouver location.

silveryfeather208: Good professional service. However, I feel the teaching pace is way to slow..I don't think it is worth it. If you are a slow learner maybe it's for you..But I feel you are better off taking it at a university if you can. Or even learn from youtube. I took a group lesson and I would also rather just pay more for a better lesson.

Giselle Heydari: 5 stars for the Mandarine class0 stars for the Farsi classI took mandarine lessons at this school and it was absolutely awesome. So when I married my husband who didn't speak my mother tongue, Farsi, and was very interested to learn the language, I recommended International house. Unfortunately the teacher he had was absolutely terrible, as in more than half the class quit half way through the session. The teacher was extremely strict and mean, as if he is training navy seals. He was teaching them sophisticated details that you are not supposed to learn until you have the basic things covered, which he did not. In general, my husband started the classes with so much enthusiasm and after 4 months, he was just done. Although my husband was extremely unlucky with his instructor, I hear there is another Farsi teacher there that is apparently amazing.

bryan williams: Wasting time and money for Canadians and permanent residents! TESL, CELTA and TESOL classes are awful with a variety of problems. Some instructors hide their illiteracy behind their snobbish, aggressive behavior. They offer their best services to international students. They merely work for money. They just care abut business more than anything else. Some staffs including administrative and teachers are so rude although you may find few of them cool.
A C: Took a korean class here and had the best learning experience ever! The instructor was very friendly and I was able to pick up the language in just a week. I was very surprised at myself.Highly recommended if you want to take up a new language. Definitely the best language school in vancouver!
Wonderful Ida: International House Vancouver is a great place for International Students to visit to study English, or Vancouver locals to learn a new language. The staff are friendly and informative, and the teachers making learning fun. I would highly recommend studying at IH!
