Mina: Such a great experience. The meal was amazing, the staff were so friendly, and the flavours were top notch.
Veronnica
Veronnica: Absolutely amazing food. They were also very good with my food allergies. Not only was I accommodated I had flavorful and amazing food. Went for brunch, which is hard to get my egg, dairy, and gluten allergy accommodated but it was amazing. They have an amazing gluten free bread, without egg and dairy.Their bacon and apple side was the most incredible bacon I’ve had in forever. Must get.Was told their dinner menu is extremely gluten free, dairy free, and egg free friendly.
Brenda W
Brenda W: Service was very good. However the mussels were so-so. Some mussels were overcooked, some smelled fishy (not fresh), some stringy and some fresh. Not sure what happened.
Sandeep Dhaliwal
Sandeep Dhaliwal: Good food.
Kate Blackwood
Kate Blackwood: perfect perfect perfect, what could be improved? absolutely nothing. their waffles? show stopping, met with great service and a cute area. Doesn’t seem too busy either, but it’s always nice to make a reso just incase

Jo B: The moule frites is my favourite dish of all time! A must get. The sour dough is also tasty. I love that they have mocktail options. The vibes inside are fine dining with none of the expectations of that. It’s a really great place to stop for dinner.

Claire Blair
Claire Blair: Dinner here was great, as always. Amazing food, service and ambience. Was expecting to have steak frites but when that wasn’t on the menu we ordered the bison carpaccio and it was sooo good. The Congolese mussels and broth are so delicious and I’m always surprised how many are in there! Very filling. They have such a great liquor menu too, including hard-to-find Belgian Trappist beers, and Fortaleza tequila. Fun to sit at the bar and converse with the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Mark
Mark: Moules Frites - Congolaise - Probably the best/freshest/largest mussels I have ever had. Fries were kind of an afterthought and nothing special but would recommend getting a side of sourdough bread so you don't waste all the sauce.
Hyunju Jo
Hyunju Jo: Foooooods are great!!! Wanna visit every quarterly. Because they change the menu quarterly(or seasons?)
Tony Durke
Tony Durke: Went to an organized event there on Friday and the service and food and drinks were impeccable. We have been going to Chambar for years and it has never once slipped in its excellence.Everything about the place is gold. I always recommend it to anyone coming in from out of town.

Aimee & Jenna Hobbs: We were in Vancouver this past weekend and went to Chambar Saturday evening for dinner. Our server Dylan was just lovely. She was knowledgeable about the menu and able to help our thirteen year old who is celiac navigate each of the dishes that could be made gluten free. Several people at our table had mussels conglaise and really enjoyed them. My niece and I had the lamb which was delicious and my son had the steak and ate every single bite. We will definitely be going again! Thank you Dylan!
SN
SN: The service here is excellent and food and drinks are really great. Big fan of the shakshuka and waffles with salted caramel.
Leigh McBain
Leigh McBain: Enjoyed the evening a great deal. It was our first time, had never actually heard of it before. Service was excellent, the food the same and a great vibe. From a price perspective it sits middle of the road - easy to spend more, easy to spend less, but the value proposition was there. We will definitely be going back.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Thon Grille, Carpaccio De Boeuf …More

Lily Na: Come for brunch today! Food and service were great!
Joanna R
Joanna R: I had an excellent, hearty breakfast here, as I would not get lunch due to travelling at lunchtime.I had the bison hash with sauerkraut, kale, eggs and toast, it was delicious. I felt it was let down by Forage not having freshly ground pepper; the only pepper option was ground in a little shaker; this is a curious decision given the attention to curing meats in-house, and making fresh sourdough etc.If you are in Vancouver and want a hearty, well-prepared breakfast Forage is worth a visit. When I am next in Vancouver I will quite likely eat breakfast here again.

I was very shocked she didn’t help to clean it, they did not compensate me at all, or do anything to make up for the mishap. We were also constantly waiting on things even though they were fairly slow at the time we were there.

R. Schubert
R. Schubert: Start to finish, front to back, great experience on every level and vegetarian friendly! If you are like me, farm-to-table is your go-to criteria for eating in a region you have not been to. For this reason, I picked out Forage for a family dinner during my first visit to Vancouver. Everything we had was just varying degrees of amazing. We started with the Cast Iron Pan Bread which is served in the cast iron. It is warm, sweet and savory, made with local cheddar and spicy honey. It is somewhere in between a mini Detroit style pizza and a sweet fried bread like an apple fritter. From the starters, I assume you should try everything, but do not miss the cast iron bread.Next up we ordered a trio of mains: Mushroom Steak, Pork Crépinette (our one meat dish), and the gnocchi. All three may be the best version of each that I have eaten. The mushroom steak was perfectly tender. Lion’s mane over a celeriac puree with mushroom jus. Topped with crispy onion rings for some crunch. I have a love-hate relationship with mushrooms and this dish is way over on the love side. Two out of my top three all time meat-eating experiences have involved a farm-to-table pork sausage, and Forage’s Crépinette is one of them. The pork crépinette is divine. The loin part is tender and juicy, and the ground sausage is on another level all together. It was topped with an excellent peppercorn sauce as well as a parsley coulis and an apple purée. Three sauces is bold, especially when sausage brings so much flavor to the table but this whole dish was perfectly balanced. Everyone who tried it was blown away.Lastly we had the gnocchi. They were pillowy and soft, topped with brown butter crumb for some crunch and tossed in a delicious nettle cream. The Alpindon cheese also brought some nutty flavor to the dish.To round it all out we had the whiskey spiked vegetables as a side. This was a fine plate of roasted carrots and parsnips. Not that we needed more food, but they rounded out the meal. Finally, against some protest from very full and content diners, I ordered the spice cake to share for the table. This was possibly one of the best desserts I have ever had. The cake was perfectly moist, topped with pickled apples, buttermilk gel, candied orange zest (which blew all of our minds), and a pecan crumble for crunch. Surrounding the cake was an orange custard that we almost came to blows over. I cannot sing this dessert’s praises enough. Our service was fantastic. We were here on a Saturday night and never once felt like we were rushed or off pace with the meal. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful and really made the whole experience great for each of us.Eat at Forage. I know I will return when I am back in Vancouver.Vegetarian options: There are lots of delicious vegetarian options on this menu. We had a great meal and ordered just one dish with meat for the table (out of six).

Romain Pire: It was very good !!
Haritos Kavallos
Haritos Kavallos: Spent a few days at the Listel Hotel and Forage was recommended to me by several folks. The restaurant has a nice modern feel, the staff were welcoming and helpful in their recommendations. If you are into locally sourced and sustainable foods, Forage might be up your alley! I should also mention…. Their sourdough pan bread is an absolute treat and definitely a must if you visit (it’s great as an appetizer or dessert!).
Helen Gaughran
Helen Gaughran: Amazing food and ambiance and our brilliant server Hershey gave us fantastic recommendations on what to do in Whistler!

Linda Lloyd: Amazing! Wonderful food; excellent service from the server, bar service and the general manager. Probably the best meal I’ve ever had from New York to Sydney. Excellent. Not even words can describe. So glad friend’s recommended!

Jeffrey Robinson
Jeffrey Robinson: We used to come for celebratory dinners pre-pandemic, and came back for one more tonight and left after appetizers, and hungry. The food didn’t disappoint, except the gluten free option for the carpaccio. Freezer burnt udis bread, even rice crackers from no-frills would have been a better option, but honestly at your price point we expect better. My partner decided to endure tomorrow’s pain of gluten in the really tasty sourdough crisps, instead of tonight’s pain of eating the horrible toast. We decided to sit at the bar, because we appreciated the product knowledge and friendly service Forage bartenders have provided us in previous visits. Tonight was a bust - the bartender was abrasive with us, we felt as though we were putting him out by sitting there. We’ve never had a bartender need to warm up to us, this was a first. He did have a great product knowledge and was cheerful, but he saved that for his co-workers. To top things off, he put his hands down his pants at least 20 times to adjust his shirt - is that even food safe?We had a couple of drinks each and three small plates for $150. Honestly, had the service been better our bill would likely have been more than double and his tip significantly larger. Forage and the bartender lost out tonight.Peter the general manager came over to introduce himself early in the (almost) dinner. It was a nice touch, had his standard of service been matched by staff, the night might not have ended up in a stop at McDonalds on our walk home. FYI, the service at McDonalds was much more friendly.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free substitutes were not up to the same standard as the rest of the food.
Stephen Yeung
Stephen Yeung: Update: Peter and his team did a great job reaching out and making sure our second visit was high quality. The food and service was much better and more prompt this time. I'll be back again.Had higher hopes for Forage. 30 mins after we ordered the server told us there was a "glitch" and the order didn't get submitted. We waited a long time for food and they didn't comp anything for the long wait. Food was decent for the price, but not great.
Alois Callemyn
Alois Callemyn: I hate giving a bad review, but this restaurant is the worst place I’ve been to for breakfast. The service is very bad. Our waitress didn’t come very quickly and then couldn’t speak English. She then took forever to bring us coffee. Most restaurants I’ve been to for breakfast greet you with coffee. We then had to flag down someone to ask for a coffee refill. Food came out after a short wait, but no salt and pepper offered. The staff seemed overwhelmed and the tables were way to close, the loud conversation from the couple sitting less than 2’ away was very disturbing.Again, I hate giving a bad review (98% of my reviews are 4+) but feel that future visitors need to be warned.

Chris McCloud
Chris McCloud: Seasonal local menu. Food was lovely and service was great. Friendly atmosphere. If you want to try something different try the bison board. The marrow was probably the best I have ever had. Vegetables were well cooked but still crisp and the bison cheek and steak as tender as could be. Pork was delicious. Will definitely return again Thank you.
Nick Villanti
Nick Villanti: Had a great Easter brunch with the family. Was able to get a reservation for 6 without issue (we did book a week in advance). Due to the holiday they did request we be done in 75 minutes for the next party.Great drinks and food. I had the whiskey latte and the pork belly Benedict. Highly recommend. Family also had the pancakes, which they loved as well.

The service was very good; the restaurant worked around our dietary restrictions (we have many). Everything was nicely plated. Ingredients were great; it was clear. However, none of the dishes blew our minds. I think this is the main issue with Pidgin. Overall, tasted blandly. For example, halibut was fresh and nicely cooked, but missing some citrusy flavor.Quantity-wise, I think our server explained well at the beginning - “won’t feel hungry or full”. However, my personal expectation is that when I get a tasting menu, I should not think whether I should eat more afterwards. Adjusting the quantity of the last course before the desert can fix this easily.
Argi Ahmadi
Argi Ahmadi: Great food, lovely atmosphere, outstanding service. The only reason why I didn’t give them five stars is because the portion of their tasting menu is very small. Botanist: what do users think?
Nicholas Quintillan
Nicholas Quintillan: Certainly a terrific experience. I’ve known the lead bartender my whole life. He recently won some well-deserved accolades and he truly is the best bartender in Canada and even perhaps the world. A strong statement for sure, however, his cocktails are creative, unique, balanced, and ridiculously flavourful. The service was outstanding and the food was unbelievably great. If you want an “out-of-this-world” experience, come have some drinks and food at Botanist. Highly, highly recommended! It was the best Burrata and Duck I’ve ever had.

It took 5 phone calls to finally get the refund. I never actually spoke to anyone from the restaurant, only the hotel. Never received a note or apology for the inconvenience, the charge was just quietly refunded to my card and I noticed on my statement.
Joel Chan
Joel Chan: We got the three-course brunch and it was delicious. I ordered the charcuterie plate as my appetizer followed by a croque madame and the strawberry coconut panna cotta for dessert. The food was fantastic and I don't know which dish I liked more because it was honestly all good. My wife ordered the hand-cut beef tartare, butter poached lobster benedict, and the milk chocolate coffee mousse. We also got the antioxidant juice, orange juice, and blue moon non-alcoholic cocktail which paired very nicely with our food. Overall great experience with a very friendly, courteous, and professional staff. Even the washrooms were gorgeous.

The food and service are excellent. I ordered the vegetarian dish for my main course and was quite disappointed with the portion size - it was laughably small, fewer than 10 small bites. Fair price for the flavour and serving size. The beef tartare was really memorable. Lamb belly poutine was a great mixture of custom French fries with a nice balance of cheese. Eggs Benedict had the right amount of hollandaise and the lobster bumped it to that next level. Dessert met our expectations and were balanced without being too overwhelmingly sweet. Kimberly Stephenson: A week after dining here, I'm still trying to wrap my head around how amazing this place was! The drinks, food, atmosphere-- EVERYTHING exceeded expectations. Even the journey to the bathroom was pleasantly surprising; I found myself lingering at the hallway photography exhibits, and feasting my eyes on the bustling lounge below. There was also a live pianist, whose effervescent fingers doled out jazzy covers to pop songs like something out of a 40's noir film. The lighting was perfect (not too bright, not too dim). It's impossible to say the service was inattentive-- they anticipated every refill, every wanton desire for more oatmeal sourdough bread (which was scrumptious). The other culinary standouts were the lamb shanks/belly (which now rivals bacon for me, lol!) and the sour-cream ice cream for dessert. Be prepared to crave another visit! 😝

Connie Ono: If this is your first time visiting Vancouver, Miku would be my top recommendations on your itinerary list for places to eat. Now, this isn't your typical sushi restaurant, in fact, I would consider this to be fine dining and here's why. When it comes to Japanese food, presentation is the most important next to customer service level, and they are bang on. I absolutely love how intricate their sushi layered to simplicity on a plate. Reminds me of a zen garden. The waiters/ waitress' are knowledgeable of their dishes being served and super friendly! Dishes are, at minimum $20, but the portions are decently sized. (Anything with Wagyu will always be expensive). They do offer gluten -free and vegetarian dishes and non alcoholic drinks.(I had their Shiso Nojito and it was the most refreshing non-alcoholic I've ever had. Not too sweet either).Overall, I would highly recommend it for first time travellers to Vancouver. It's absolutely a beautiful place to dine in!Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free available

Keith C: We had the 7 course Kaiseki dinner and were very impressed by the taste of most of the dishes. Also, the portion is very large and we found it quite heavy.Favourites are the insanely tender fillet, the Hokkaido scallop, oyster, and fresh sashimi.Few of the menu items were a miss, such as the Uni (Sea urchin) which we found not fresh at all. And sake pairing was late for one of the courses.Overall, this was a delicious meal and definitely recommended. We would have liked some lighter dishes that were not fatty-protein-focused, or slightly less portion for lower price (like the omakase platter at the end). Junky Mailhai: For the price, I thought that it’s an okay place. The food is fresh and the service is good. I didn’t love the sushi. It was good but not amazing. Pourhouse Restaurant: what do users think?
Julie Clement
Julie Clement: As a person with celiac disease finding safe places to eat is key. This restaurant had very knowledgeable staff, dedicated fryer and did not charge extra for a gluten free bun. Huge menu of cocktails and other drinks, lunch/dinner menu could get pricey as sides priced extra, but brunch worked out pretty reasonable and with great sized portionsDietary restrictions: Celiac General Manager means this is taken seriously

Monir Moussa: Amazing atmosphere and we had one of the best servers. He knew what drinks to suggest and everyone at the table was very happy with the service. Where it fell short was the food. It was pretty basic in regards to the burger options I felt like I got better value at bin 4 and also the food wasn't as tasty as bin 4. One of my friends compared their burger to Wendys. Sides were extra 10 dollars for onion rings. We didn't really try anything else on the menu but for me and another person after tip it was 150 for burgers and 3 drinks. Sadly I won't return as I wasn't impressed by that food and I feel you should be impressed with the food at that price aka close to 40 dollars a person just for burgers and sides.

Heather Chatterton: We are definitely not alone or CRAZY in our perceptions of this Gastown restaurant! I AM really sorry for this review, but the tastes are there with us- we will NEVER go back or recommend it. Our daughter ordered drinks, and items from the menu-some happy hour prices, and regular, to try. We left feeling VERY sorry she had paid SO much for so little- and awful!Results- 3 menu-stated, "known for their Caesar salads-" less than one cup of romaine, a few croutons, and grated cheese-NONE with "creamy anchovy dressing!" HOW could that be missed?? Ok, onward. In rereading to see what WAS "missing-" the dressing! She ordered 2 steaks-1 rib steak $58, 1 sirloin, a little cheaper-ALL that came on those 2 plates at that price-no sides-2 tiny slices of fried onion on each plate? My husband had a few pieces he couldn't even chew! 3 Scotch eggs to taste-NOT bad- CRAZY price of about $7.00 ea. happy hour price! 3 balls of sausage/ one egg in each! The fried chips came- 1/4 C of mayo/sour cream-SMALL bowl! When the waitress came to take the dishes away, THEN, she told us we could have had a REFILL! Fried chicken to share- SMALL bowl 5 tiny pieces- 3 pickle slices, 3 wisps of marinated cabbage-mustard was the dip😝!!? Smash Burger- Happy hour price about $7-MAYBE 3 inches around, SO DRY-even with cheese, thinner than a junior McD burger! 2 regular Caesar drinks came-full of ice with 1 olive. I joked to the waiter about the other not having any. He brought me 3 olives-first before he handed that to me-he asked if I "was allergic to nuts!?" Seriously🙄! Jokingly back I replied -"not unless they are walking around-" but HE WAS serious! Service was VERY slow- NOT even busy at 5:00PM. The waiters/ waitresses were pleasant-but that IS their job and-they were tipped well! ALL the food had come to our table- we just wanted to get out-it was AWFUL! Sad! It IS in a neat, popular, touristy part of town- but when you enter ANY restaurant-HOPE IS that the food IS good, as patrons ARE innocently there for the tastes and experiences! This was quite costly and a wasted $400plus!

Lavanya Ashok: My favourite restaurant and pub in Vancouver. The food and drinks are amazing. The staff is phenomenal! My friend was visiting over the weekend, and she tends to get seizures when exposed to bright light. The staff were so accomodating and lovely. When a mini episode did take place, they took control swiftly, and made sure my friend felt safe and comfortable. You guys were just amazing and I'm going to sing your praises to everyone! Thank you!
Zach Scragg
Zach Scragg: Ordered the Pourhouse burger, fries, and a scotch egg for takeout. Opted for this place because it seemed a cut above pub burgers and I was looking for something special. Staff were super friendly and attentive when I picked it up, the scotch egg was pretty good and so were the fries. Unfortunately, the burger tasted like it hadn't been spiced, so the beef had that meat locker flavour. I had a few bites but couldn't finish it. It also had one of those McDonald's style buns that smooshes down into nothing when you pick it up. I know the bun was intentional and that they're popular right now, but not sure I can say the same about the beef. Will probably try it again sometime though, maybe the burger thing was a fluke 🤷‍♂️
Ashutosh Anil
Ashutosh Anil: Good ambience and service - food leaves something to be desired. Maybe it was just me - but didn't love the fish and chips I had. I know the appies are great.Wish there were vegetarian options in the cooked food section of the menu. Will try again n the future and hoping my experience will be better.

rebecca donnell: This was a hard review to give.Went on a Thursday night knowing there was a live band. Band with cello was great and suited the cool decor and vibe.Rotating popcorn was caramel that night which consisted of a warm caramel drizzle on top that I could’ve eaten bowls and bowls of.The food outside of that was pretty bad. Pre-made frozen onion rings that the chef then salted to death. Burger with a bun that seemed like something a couple days old from the grocery store and a slice of American cheese. Fine if you’re dining at a road side stand but we definitely expected something better from a Main Street in Gastown.Three stars given (generous) because the server was suuuper nice and without barely a word said called the manager who was also did everything she could to make things right.

Bond Armstrong
Bond Armstrong: Food was decent, but pretty pricey. The beef tartare was decent but small portion (came with 3 half slices of sourdough). The macaroni was creamy. The spicy chicken sandwich was okay but the proportions of chicken to the rest of the sandwich was off; there was way too much chicken (silly thing to complain about). It wasn’t very spicy which was nice for my taste, but others might want it spicier. Cocktails were very pricy which turned me off from ordering one. Menu is quite small and the burgers do not come with a side; a side of fries was $6 extra.
Emily Decker
Emily Decker: Food was exceptional! Great ambience, service, and drinks, but the standout star was definitely the beef! At our table we had a steak, a burger, and the tartare, so no matter which way you enjoy it, the beef is delicious!Recommended dishes Scotch Egg …More

Caleb Loewen: We had such a lovely time here! So many options if you are celiac or have a gluten free diet! Food and drink were both incredible. Our server, Kess, was very knowledgeable and gave us excellent recommendations for drinks. The live music really added to the experience. We will definitely return!Parking: Parkade right beside the restaurant was convenient but expensive.Dietary restrictions: So many gluten free options! They have a separate gf fryer and grill!

Yogi
Yogi: I was looking forward to dining at The Acorn after hearing all the hype. We stopped by on a weeknight. There were empty tables but was greeted by a young man that gave us attitude that we had no reservation. The restaurant is dark and cramped, and definitely not wheelchair accessible and I didn't appreciate having the back of my chair bumped every time staff went by. I wasn't expecting a sharing menu and my friend and I had the task of deciding which items to share, while having different tastes. The food was very good, but I felt uncomfortable the entire time I was in the small restaurant. The restaurant is expensive, and the service doesn't warrant the price. I satisfied my curiosity, but I will not be returning. Michelin star restaurants are not always pretentious. My friend's restaurant is very inviting. I don't go to places where I don't feel welcome. Very underwhelming.
Ivy Choy
Ivy Choy: We’ve booked a table of 7adults and a two year old, and found out that they have no High chairs or boosters at all, not family friendly! But the worst was, all 8 of us had to squeeze in a 5-ppl-table, and we had a vacant table next to us the whole period of time! It was too crowded !We booked for the vegan tasting menu, there were 1-2 dishes that was nice , but the flavours between dishes were a bit similar, so it was a pain to finish dish by dish. The overall dishes was not too bad, but given that I’ve paid for that much and how much hype this restaurant is having, I expected more! ( or maybe it’s only the vegan tasting menu that’s not worth it!?)Definitely not coming back again !
Alfred Tsang
Alfred Tsang: I don't know why ppl recommend this restaurant, we tried the tasting menu, 7ppls stuck on a 5 ppls table, very uncomfortable while there is another vacant table next to us, I believe they are anti-chinese or racism....ok back to the foods , there is a lot of dishes but almost with same taste and extremely salty, price is unreasonable basedon wt I ate

Just love the special fork they have to aid diners with the assorted oysters, mussels, clams, and other tasty treats. The halibut was firm and juicy, and although the steak was medium rather than the medium-rare we requested, it was still juicy and very tasty. We didn’t leave much room for desert, so settled for tasty strawberry & raspberry lemon tarts. Highly recommended for a memorable night out.

Thankfully we have 'Hale Pele', one of the top 3 rated tiki bars in the world about an hour drive from our house.Every time we travel we seek out local tiki bars, and we're usually unimpressed. This was our first visit to Vancouver, BC. M L'Esperance
M L'Esperance: We are lucky to have a top notch Tiki bar here in Vancouver. Technically it's a restaurant and the food is quite decent, and not overpriced, but the reason to come here is for the absolutely authentic and delicious cocktails made with precision and panache.Rivalling the experience one gets at famous Tiki locations like Hale Pele in Portland and Smugglers Cove in San Fran, and Tiki-ti in LA, the drinks and ambiance are faultless. Some people come in not fully realizing what a fortunate town we are to have authentic Tiki drinks perfectly presented in such a finely crafted environment. This is not a place for real Polynesian cuisine or traditional Hawaiian food. It's about the beverages, like all great Tiki establishments past and present. The drinks are made with bespoke ingredients to exacting standards and with finely measured consistency. No sweet tutti-frutti sticky with grenadine drinks here.Demand for reservations is justifiably through the roof, so plan ahead.
