Visual College of Art and Design (VCAD) - Vancouver: what do users think?
Haili Maltais: The people that get ahold of you work for commission, are very pushy, and give you vague explanations on any questions you have. They couldn’t care less about your future. Do some research on this place and the people who run it. Save yourself.
Missile Kitten - Amanda Bayley (Missile Kitten): super excited to be enrolled in their Game Development program!
Ethan Cowper: Orientation was really informative and the hosts were very nice, so far the enrolment experience has been great and I can’t wait to start my studies!
Nathan Alfred: Awesome college!
Alissa Chan: It’s a wonderful experience to study at VCAD. Houman, the Admission Director whom interviewed me at the very beginning and always being very helpful in need! Trevor is the one who open the door of design for me, he is a very experienced and fantastic tutor in graphic design. Finally, Kirandeep was also very helpful and response quickly in helping me! Just want to say thank you to them!
Courtenay Baker: I didn’t even fill out an application & they spent over a week harassing me with phone calls & text messages to get me to join.
Joe Doe: They charge for classes that are 99% of the time public YouTube videos , they send underpowered gear , misled into a program I didn't really want , and they cost twice as much as the best school's of Canada. Their own employees don't even last a full term. And only 5 - 10 % of enrolled students end up graduating in 2 programs combined
jessica dosanjh: I would give this school 0 stars if possible when enrolling they make it seem as if they really care to attend the students needs but once you are enrolled that all goes out the window. I’ve had the worst experience here and regret every enrolling to begin with and students service coordinator Jessica has been nothing but a nightmare can never get a response back from employees or any help on their end. And as of the program coordinator heather comes off very rude when your addressing issues doesn’t really care what you’re saying rather then getting her point across. Instructors at this institution themselves say it’s not the best experience. DONTTT SIGN YOURSELF UP ! look for better options for schooling. As it will be a waste of time. I’m not the only individual that feels this way speaking to other students they have the same experience as well. School should be shut down in my opinion.
ExCAL1BUR: anyone who has had a bad experience or has gotten scammed like myself by this school, post a review with all the information on your experience, the plan is to take legal action against this institution and all info is evidence
Helbert Salcedo: They called me to clean some couches (Upholstery work)and I never get paid. I will never put one of my kids in this school.
Amy Van Veen: RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. This school is just a scam. They offer you laptops that don't arrive so you cannot do your work. Their systems are constantly down. They use aggressive commission based sales tactics to get anyone and everyone to enroll and take 30% of the entire program tuition if you want to withdraw. Teachers and staff don't respond to emails and the quality of teaching is mediocre. $43k to sit and watch youtube videos? This place should be shut down. Look at the glass door reviews from former employees saying they take advantage of vulnerable people and people with mental health issues. DO NOT GO HERE. Update: I filed a claim against these monsters with the private institutions branch of bc and won. They have been ordered to pay back the the $11,150 they stole from me. File your claim against them if you have been scammed too.
Devon Dutkiewicz: This was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made in my life. From the moment you talk to these people, they were incredibly pushy with their sales tactics style and lie about things to get you to sign up. I was told that I would recieve a laptop for class. The laptop didn't come for months after I had already started my course, which put me at a huge disadvantage and caused me to fall behind immediately. The software provided (through aws) was incredibly slow and buggy for everyone, and students were constantly having technical issues. The teachers themselves complained and apologized about the horrendous course curriculum that was embarrassingly put together. Half the time we watched videos pulled from YouTube... I was specifically told by a teacher that it was impossible to teach us what we needed to know in the timeframe given. That was just for Graphic Design....I then switched to 3D Animation, hoping it was just the graphic design course that was having issues. That was absolutely not the case...I never did recieve the laptop for my 3D Animation course, which again left me at a huge disadvantage because I was stuck using an inadequate computer for the class. This was never remedied, and I was only given excuse after excuse as to why I didn't get the laptop.I'm leaving a lot out, but these are just a few of the serious issues I had.Anyone even remotely thinking of attending this so called "school", please go anywhere else but here. I found out after I withdrew that the owner of this school as well as several others (including cdi) was charged with fraud in the US before moving to Canada to start more schools...And to top it all off, I can't even file my taxes for 2022 now because they aren't providing my T2202A tax form, which means I will potentially have to pay back my grant.... And I'm not the only one in this situation as I'm in contact with multiple former students. How this place is even still open is beyond me. Please DO NOT enroll.
S S: I would suggest looking at an art program from a public school. For the cost of vcads two year graphic design diploma, i could have paid for three of the four years of a BFA at Emily Carr.. think twice before enrolling in a For-profit school.
Galvin Extasty: Not a very good school/education system, went and did their online course for Graphic Design and it was a terrible experience, I do still thank them anyway for trying, though the tools they use aren't all up to code and administration isn't the easiest to deal with and get honest answers from. I got a busted Apple MacBook Air from them and had to get rid of it as it wasn't useable for my courses and programs for my classes there. Please be advised that these private institutions aren't all what they are cracked up to be.I even got discrimination used on me alongside lots of cyber bullying and the school here has yet to fully own up to everything and or take responsibility for their actions.I was told even by a friend of mine to not attend this place and I should have listened to them.Be safe and do take care and study before getting into any places like this because they won't tell you the whole story/truth anyway.I wouldn't recommend this school and it's programs to anybody really who's looking for greater education.
Sean MacGregor: Online/Distance/Asynchronous coursework should be reviewed by the educator(s) prior to being taught as some of it is out of date or not relevant. The instructors should be able to apply secondary perspective, opinion, description, and understanding to the classwork being taught and provided to the students. The loss of potential due to lack of courage or interest from some educators is quite unfortunate to experience, although...I must say this to any prospective student wondering if this is the college for them; Unless you are committed and able to devote majority of your time and complete mental energy into the program you are considering (online or otherwise) you will struggle. If you are just out of Highschool, there is a certain level of self-discipline one must maintain and ANY post-secondary institution will require focus and dedication to have success in the career/industry you desire to achieve employment in.The staff at VCAD is nothing short of one that you will consider family, friends and come to find tremendous amounts of support from. When you want to succeed, VCAD will provide you with everything needed to do just that. Also I must reiterate that only with hard work and passion in your course/major, inside and outside of class, only then will you find any post-secondary education worthwhile or useful.VCAD Staff take great pride in getting students of all backgrounds the same opportunities and will accommodate any unforeseen circumstances that one might experience while being a student. Personally, in comparison to other institutions that offer similar programs, without a doubt, VCAD takes the cake. You wont be disappointed or waste your time if you choose this college.Campus located~CALGARY~VANCOUVER~ONLINEInquire more if you think it sounds right for you!
Krys Pawluk (Krystina): Laptop is NOT free, it's part of your tuition and is basically useless once you're out of school. You have to use a school admin to sign into the laptop and when I called was told there was no way to change it.Costs the same as a 4 year degree in literally anything else ($40k+) but you're only in school 1.5 years. They don't give you the licensing for the programs you need for their classes, you sign in to an online portal called AWS, I assume to "save money" except it means you can't access your programs for your courses if you lose internet or if the internet is spotty/your area has outages at all. And that's IF you're lucky and CAN access it! It doesn't even work for a bunch of students in many of my classes. IT can't help you UNLESS it's about the AWS portal, so no actual help with the programs or licensing as I've come to learn. And student services just pawns you off on someone else as "they're trying to help students best they can" by not actually providing any help at all.I feel like I was swindled applying to this school, they definitely make it seem "too good to be true" because it is!VCAD is 1 of many similar "skills schools" across the country and this one school alone made over $96MIL in revenue in 2022!! But they can't afford program licensing for their students? Make it Make sense!Don't make the same mistakes many have made, avoid these schools and anything like them. CDI, OCAD, etc. They only want your enrollment for your money. They don't actually want you to succeed. They get their tuition either way...
Natasha Keewatin: Newly enrolled student.Almost done with my first week. Staff seem great. The prosses wasn't bad.
Jade Reid: Great College! Great customer service and counsling. Easy to understand.
Morgan Pasternak: Orientation was amazing, both Brittney and Hanan did amazing at making us feel comfortable and excited to start our new careers!
Rachel Urquhart: Student orientation was a blast. Brittney is super funny 😄 I really enjoyed it a lot!!!
UHAFN NU: After a few difficult hurdles, I found myself back on my feet and now I'm ready to be a better student. I could not have done this without support from staff. Thank you.

Emily Carr University of Art + Design: what do users think?
Pingguo Han: A university full of art
Peter Liu: 今天陪女儿来参加campus tour,感觉真是一个非常不错的学校。自由、开放、专业,是我对这个学校的感觉。女儿也很喜欢,但愿她有这个福气。
Jeff: Friendly environment for me as a current second year student. Many events with amazing people around the world, and we have multiple resources helping us make creative designs!
Tabatha Dee: As a professor teaching for the last 15+ years having visited many universities in my time, I have never been as inspired as I was visiting Emily Carr this week. Loved every corner and all the attention to detail. Well done ECU.
Dan Bilof: ~Now it was that I was going to apply,/attend Emily Carr; However it was so that I made several youtube playlists, in that plans stead: the youtube playlists will tell you everything Else you will Need to know; theyre all {Secretly in code}..." dsmfourtwenty " ; is the name of the youtube channel. ~Favourably Quool {☆}
Sergio Rioma: Very interesting university
BCCA Van: Emily Carr University 👍👍👍
Francesca Murray: The event was beautiful although a bit disorganized in relation to timing and communication. I enjoyed this event n looking forward to more.
Roni dude: Large balls located inside
Lacey Williams: I attended ECUAD for 1 year of graduate studies in 2015, while the new campus was undergoing construction and community 'consultation'. If nothing else, this 'university' needs to change its name. Emily Carr the artist would be rolling in her grave. This new campus is built on the former False Creek shoreline, where 59 pine trees (plus) were clearcut while the City was on its way to becoming the 'Greenest City by 2020'. Emily Carr was not for the destruction of trees and was about using her art to share the truth of the landscape and its inhabitants - not the erasure and development of them. We shared our concerns and ideas with not only instructors, but the developers and city planners at the time, and were only given lip service. What kind of forward-thinking art school doesn't prioritize environmental and social justice alongside the creative process? I ended up leaving because I didn't want my name associated with being a graduate of this school. (The only reason I gave it 2 stars and not 1 is because of some of the instructors and artists I met, who became my creative allies and friends).
Tario Sultan: Emily Carr is has so many advantages that you just can’t find in other schools. They have a career counselling service, career fairs, and an awesome co-op program. And the Canada 150 Scholarship is just the cherry on top. It’s definitely considered one of the great options out there for artistic and creative education.
yvette y tang: Library staffs r excellent. However not as open to public as before...
Silvia Martinez: Emily Carr is a great school, I’ve learnt a lot here. I don’t recommend this school for beginner artists. Develop a practice/specialty and you’ll be able to take a lot more from this school and it’s courses
Dennis Frost: Emily Carr have a nice bright and clean looking campus. Next time I am there I'll try to get a few nicer photos. I was just dropping my son off so can't speak to their level of education though I do work at a university myself in the Sciences and through my colleges I have generally heard good things about EC. We shall see.
Mr. Cole Gallant: Heard great things
Wendy Yu: 👩🏻‍🎓
El Pintor: Nice outside 👌
K.v H: complete waste of time studying here. go to career college or technical school instead!
Justin Somerville: Great exterior, skate friendly. Movie projected on an outdoor wall about the ocean.
Hannan Zhang: Even if you’re not an artistic person, you would still fall in love with the vibe.
LLAMA W: 🔥

LaSalle College Vancouver: what do users think?
Komalpreet Kaur: Really disappointing experience with this college. I’m trying to call them from last week neither they are answering my call properly ,nor they are replying to my any mail😵.
Eva Braam: Good food, and absolutely outstanding hosting 10/10
Sofia Prado: Really disappointing experience. They sell the idea of preparing students for outside opportunities and a chance to network with industry which was never true. 7 months prior to graduation, and many students (including myself) are unemployed. Unfair that they only care about the money. I never felt a supportive environment during my studies neither after graduation.
jagraj singh 0190: Its really awesome all the staff is very respectful and helps me in very polite way
Debs WC: Their agent on WhatsApp is very rude, I am only asking just to make sure that everything I need to know before applying is correct, but the person got annoyed by my questions. Very unprofessional. Take down your WhatsApp if you do not want questions and inquiries from future applicants.
Daljeet Singh: Scam college
nhạc sàn hay: Never recommend this school for fashion design studying. This school will put u in a passive position that u have to cope with quick and superficial lectures with unreasonable tuition fees.
Duaa Yamani: I am a fashion student and would like to mention about our best draping teacher(Julia) she is knowledgeable, professional and always trying to teach us different techniques and ways to do creative fashionThank you JuliaAlso would like to mention about the receptionist and person who works in the book store are super friendly and always available to helpThank you
Alex Alex: By far, the best media arts and design school!
Manjot kaur: Best College!
Jun Yu: One more look and it will explodeConfidence, get closer, get melted
Ben Wang: what is this?
曹震宇: I am yours, you are mine
Eddy Liu: what are you doing~
Huang Alex: Little Heizi is showing his chicken feet!
Tommy Wong: You walking towards me make me so ready to move
Wenhan Xiao: people who mess with names are wicked
JINFENG ZHANG: Can I see iKun here?
gustavo sdjgjsdfjd: It’s supposed to be open during sundays but they are very often opening late and not telling students, i just have sundays for working on most of my assignments and this does not help at all.
AJ Maybe: Great school! Teachers are friendly and open to help, and I find the environment quite welcoming.
madison jarvis: Great school if your looking for smaller class sizes and one-on-one learning experience.Starbucks is just across the street which is great when I need an energy-boost.I am half way through my Architecture and Interior Design Degree, and from my experience what I can say is you will get what you put into it.If you are a hard worker and you strive for success... that will be recognized amongst the instructors and they will do everything and anything to help.If you want to do the bare minimum and "get by" well then, sorry... this isn't the industry for you because its very competitive and requires hard work, haha.If you're the kind of person who has leadership qualities and would like to be involved in the student life on campus then I recommend that you join the Student Representative Committee. When I was reading through the previous comments from 2+ years ago (this was before my time), I can honestly say that from my experience I can't agree or relate to anything that those people were concerned about. The school switched ownership years ago and as a result many things have improved.

The Cut Fashion Design Academy: what do users think?
Nelson Dominguez: I am delighted to share my experience with The Cut Fashion Design Academy, which I have been attending as a mature student. I decided to switch careers, and this school has been an incredible support throughout my journey. The small group classes have been a game-changer for me. I have received individual attention and guidance from unique and talented teachers. The teachers have not only helped me develop my skills but have also been very supportive of my needs. The school has provided a conducive learning environment that has helped me grow and thrive. The curriculum has been well-structured, and I have learned so much from the program. The hands-on approach has allowed me to apply my knowledge and skills in actual practice, and I have already seen improvements in my understanding and reasoning to solve problems.I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to pursue a career in fashion. The staff and teachers are incredibly supportive, and the small group classes offer a unique learning experience that is hard to find elsewhere. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to continuing my journey with TFDA.
Star Quinn: Launch Your Line has been a great experience. I wasn't sure if I wanted to move forward with my brand but thank to Liza Deyrmenjian I am confident I will be successful.
Heather Ho: I'm taking the Fashion Design diploma course here. All the lessons are well-planned. The instructors are patient, knowledgeable and provide invaluable insider experience of the fashion industry. All the staff and students here are so kind and helpful. I would highly recommend The Cut to all those who are interested in fashion!
Julie and Andrew Crawley: This was the only school that had the 3D classes that I was looking for. Everyone from the administration, to the staff to the professors were so accommodating and knowledgeable. I always felt as though someone had my back. I am so glad I signed up as a student and am looking forward to taking more classes.
Kevin: I reached out to Liza to help me get my new golf shirt company off the ground. She has helped so much from the manufacturing off my product to new ideas and pointed me in the right direction so my company could stand a chance . She is amazing to deal with and has so much experience in her field. I am so grateful to have found her to show me the way.
Crystal B.: My teen daughter attended the week-long summer camp at The Cut & had the best experience. She learned so much in that short time, and left very inspired to continue on the creative path of fashion design. Highly recommend!
Maneh Madoyan: I took an online summer 2 week intensive and it was great! The instructor was very helpful and nice, as well as the work was not too hard or pressuring. Very informative class and highly recommend.
Ken Werner: A great, creatively inspiring school! I loved my classes here and look forward to taking more. Teachers were all very helpful and the location is perfect for my hectic schedule. Thanks again!
Roar 86: Is this good for international students who want to come on study visa ?
Sabina K: Liza has a tremendous wealth of industry knowledge and a gift for sharing her know-how in a clear, direct, and relatable way. The 6-week Launch Your Line course is the perfect launch-pad for anyone looking to start their fashion line. Liza covered all key aspects of the biz, shared industry tips, offered personalized feedback, and provided plenty of opportunities to ask questions. I thoroughly enjoyed, and greatly benefitted from taking the class!
Saito Daniel: Fantastic experience with lots of gain knowledge.I recommend it to everyone!Liza has plenty experience and provides useful tips.Fantástico, Muito conhecimento e muita atenção.Recomendo a todos.Liza tem uma vasta experiência e muitas dicas.
Randa Salloum: I learned many useful skills from the beginner's sewing class. I feel empowered to fix my own garments and look forward to taking their intermediate class.
Sergine Zougbédé: I love the Cut!I took the Pattern Making and Assembling Technique certificate and learned so much! Intensive but I found exactly what I was looking for : a short, high-quality training that would give me industry-level pattern making skills. I am so happy with what I have learned. The teachers Joana and Chay are absolutely amazing! A lot of experience, supportive, but also they push you to give the best of yourself. The small class size allowed to have an almost one-on-one training. The staff there is also super nice and great! Great memories and connection with my classmates. I loved coming to the school and meet my school family :))Liza, the owner and dean of the school, is wonderful! She brings you amazing job opportunities and connections. She is always looking to connect you with people in the industry. I am so grateful!
Prathibha Nair: I got an opportunity to take up 2 full time courses at The Cut. The 14 weeks courses are perfectly designed to get the candidates prepared for the industry. We had a small class size which meant personalised attention to each student. I was mentored by Liza, Jason and Joanna, who are some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry. We also got a chance to exhibit our capsule collection at the end of the course which gave the confidence to step into the Vancouver fashion scene. Liza, the Dean at The Cut also greatly helped in finding placements after completion of the course.I would strongly recommend The Cut to anyone who wants to learn from the best!
Layne Thullner: When I first applied to The Cut I had minimal drawing skills but a real passion for design. I took the fashion illustration course hoping to understand more about the design industry and learn useful illustration skills… turns out that’s exactly what I got out of the course and more. Both of my instructors (Jason & Kelsey) were very well experienced in design as well as being understanding and patient when teaching new students. The environment in person at The Cut is very friendly for both new and experienced students. The staff is very encouraging and nice, while remaining professional and driven to get the best out of you. I never thought I’d be able to draw like I can now after taking the fashion illustration course at the cut. I definitely recommend The Cut to anyone wanting to get a start in the design industry.Liza is also very helpful and kind with her advice from her experience in the industry.
Jennifer Thompson: Get specific knowledge without an entire degree. This is huge for self taught creatives. Took the 2 week pattern making intensive and loved it! Small intimate class size. Teacher was patient, easy going and relaxed. I already had taught myself basic pattern making but was still intimidated and found pattern making a chore. This class was exactly what I needed to fill out my knowledge gaps and get comfortable with pattern making. We completed so many drafts within the 2 weeks and now when I make patterns at home, I am confident and actually enjoy it. Travelled from Texas to take the class and had so much fun exploring Vancouver and Canada for the first time. Definitely would take another course in the future.
Clair McLaughlin: I have thoroughly enjoyed my courses at the Cut, so much so that I now have an amazing new career path!
Toza Weave: Wonderful school! I enjoyed every minute and learned so much as classes are small and it feels like private lessons..Teacher always had time to repeat and explain anything we need. it felt like a little family! Thank you everyone!❤️
Cara Sumpton: We love The Cut! My business Apparelmark has hired grads from Liza's programs and we couldn't be more happy with her recommendations for future talent! The school will give you a full picture of what it's like working in the industry, and not only that, she will help you with next steps after, from finding employment opportunities to starting your own label. It just might change your life! 🙌🙌🙌♥️♥️♥️
Cutting Room Patterns: I took the Technical Pattern Making and Gerber Accumark Certificate programs at The Cut and would suggest this school to anyone wishing to improve their skills in fashion design and development. The school offers a wide range of options from beginner courses to advanced courses. I was able to get a job at The Cutting Room as a pattern maker through the school and am now able to apply the skills I learned there. Would definitely recommend! Very professional and wonderful teachers and staff!
Tee Kay: Admissions staff helpful, kind and great communications. Looking forward to in studio classes in January 2022.

Vancouver Sewing Classes: what do users think?
Kyle Archibald: If you're looking to learn how to sew, not make a reversible bag, not sit in a class with 10 people waiting for your turn to ask a question. Vancouver Sewing Classes is A+1 on 1 clearly communicated instruction, all the skills to sew literally anything & you leave with some pieces that you never thought you'd be sewing right out of the gate.I can't wait to go back and learn more
MIKAELA CRISOLOGO: Class was insightful, knowledgeable and on point on learning objectives. Entire atmosphere was laid-back and friendly; Chris and Stanley are great instructors.
Emeraude Bonard: I received a fine education in the precise-detailing of couture, and I am satisfied with the results as a debutante.
Ariel Pineda: It was a pleasure to meet Chris and Stan I learned sewing skills and knowledge of tailoring techniques. I told Chris I have zero experience on sewing. They taught me how to use sewing equipment and the understanding of garment construction and pattern making skills. I learned more than the basic on sewing, they taught me the sewing foundations. Chris and Stan are both amazing they are more than 5 stars to me. Thank you Chris and Stan I had a great time learning sewing.
Tone Batt: Stanley and Chris at VSC:Impeccable Service.Outstanding delivery of content. One on one teachings with gentle supervision.Much value for money. For the Novice, it is positivley challenging...for the knower, I suspect....priceless :)What a ride; for my ego, my boundaries, but most of all: my wish to make and create 3Wow you guys, you Rock !!!Thank you _/|_Tone
TJ .A: Vancouver sewing classes is a school with great knowledge. I’ve learned all the industrial sewing techniques that is required for the fashion industry. Great instructors one on one time to has a vision all learning experience.. highly recommend to anyone wanting to be a fashion designer.
Fereshteh Shojaei: I just had my first session with Chris today; I’m very satisfied with the choice I made coming to this class, they teach you everything you need to know and no wasting time, if you are looking to learn , this is definitely the right place. In just one session I learned so much( and keep in mind I took one of the basic courses yet it is just very complete ) They teach you each and every technique. I’m looking forward to learn more.
clarissa ty: I took the beginner sewing class with Chris and Stanley they were amazing. The program is very hands on and you learn how to do stitches, hems, zipper, pockets and many more! Honestly, I cant thank them enough on the things that I learned and I enjoyed every single class I had with both of them. They are very passionate, knowledgeable, friendly, patient and one of a kind! So, if you are interested to learn how to sew. Take one of the programs they offer and you will be surprised on the amount of knowledge and confidence you will get after the program.
Fiona Wong: I completed the Sewing Techniques Short Program and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to sew either professionally or as a hobby! I started with no experience and was provided with everything I needed – from a sewing machine, to materials/tools, and the bestest instructors in Stenly and Chris – to successfully complete 4 practice and 2 final garments. Stenly was my primary instructor and he was patient, personable and encouraging throughout. The program was a great experience!
Bhakti Purandare: I am an IT professional having a keen interest in the fashion industry. But I always wondered where and how I would start from to understand the potentials of my interest. I started with the basic Sewing classes at VSC and it turned out to be a great entry point because in 6 classes I made 4 samples along with 1 skirt and 1 shirt for myself. I will recommend VSC for many reasons like you get one-on-one training, you make 6 garments in 6 classes, there is flexibility in time, and last but not least my instructors Stanely and Chris. They both are very humble and perfectionists, they teach you professional skills for sewing garments.
Linda Santoso: I had a wonderful first class experience with Stanley and Chris. The class is 1 on 1 , so you get all the attention you need to improve on your weaknesses. I had zero experience in sewing and now at least i know a little bit about it. You get one sewing machine to start with the class so that you could practice at home, and that was also a plus++. In addition, I was pretty slow but they made sure I could still get my project done by adding extra classes. I am definitely looking forward to take next classes with them, can't wait to meet wonderful people like them!
Dami H: I had inherited an old sewing machine and wanted to learn how to use it properly. I searched for various sewing classes and stumbled upon Vancouver Sewing Classes. I was a bit overwhelmed and excited with the various classes VSC had to offer that I didn't know where to begin. So I called and talked to Chris. I explained to him what I wanted to learn and he recommended I take the Professional Sewing Techniques Short Program. This program consists of six 3 hours classes that focus on the basic sewing techniques such as stitches & hems, seams, pockets & invisible zippers, sleeve plackets, cuffs and collars, waistbands, buttonholes, buttons, and closures. As a bonus for signing up for this program, I received a brand new sewing machine in the first class and Chris went over every single component of the machine and taught me how to use it and maintain it for the homework assignments. Yes, there will be homework after every class. Don't fret, they are fun homework. You'll receive extra fabric to practice the skills you learned during class, which inturn will help you on your garment-making project. I completed two garments by the end of the program that covered every sewing technique taught. The best thing about it is you'll get to wear the garments! I had an amazing experience learning from both Chris and Stenly. They are patient, knowledgeable, and a trove of industry wisdom. You can ask them anything about the fashion industry and they will have an answer for you. If you are searching for a sewing class, program or just want to learn how to sew, give VSC a call and talk to Chris, he will guide you to your sewing journey. Forget about the one day workshop or group classes, at VSC you'll get one-on-one lessons from either Chris or Stenly and you will have an unbelievable time! This program was exactly what I was looking for and more. Thank you Chris and Stenly and I look forward taking more classes with both of you.
Patricia V: I have been sewing for most of my life, but never learned how to professionally craft clothing. I had tried taking college sewing programs in the past, but was always confused and did not learn the basic principles that I needed to succeed.Chris and Stenly were enthusiastic and kind from the moment I walked into my first class. Not only did I learn basic sewing techniques, I was able to bring in items that I wanted to create, and learn how to master them properly.Chris and Stenly’s enthusiasm and encouragement gave me the confidence and knowledge that I needed. I particularly found the one on one instruction worked well for me.The Vancouver sewing school is a very special place, where you will learn and be encouraged to succeed.I am already planning on signing up for another course. This is my new happy place. My only regret is that I didn’t study with them sooner.
Daryl C. Hyun: I had been wanting to learn sewing for several ideas I accumulated over time. When I tried to learn from makerspaces, but it was super hassle to sign up for a membership, and availability of classes is not good. Vancouver sewing classes runs like a studio where a student gets a full access to all kinds of machines and learning experiences. Very hands-on experiential learning with homework as well. Chris and Stanley are very kind and eager to share their skills, tips and knowhows. Also, the facility is very nice that a student gets to learn how to use industry sewing machine & steam iron, home sewing machine, serger, large table, etc. and complimentary snacks and water. My etude is on insta @guineapigmall :) Highly recommend to those who wanna learn sewing and making garment!!
Sanoe Lubensky: When I came across Chris and his sewing programs, I was immediately willing to try because of all the positive reviews. I’m happy to say that the reviews are no joke. After signing up for the short program, I was taught by two of the best sewing instructors, Chris and Stenly :) I learned so much from the short program in such an incredibly fast time, and I got to take home a new sewing machine. After completing the short program, I signed up for the womenswear long program, and it’s been the best decision ever; it is crazy (in a good way) how much I’m learning in each class. Chris is the best teacher; he is teaching me to be so detailed and precise with my sewing. I have gone from 0 knowledge of sewing to a very proficient sewer within just a few months. I’m also even more pleased because with the long program, I got to take home a new industrial sewing machine, a new full body-form, a serger, a cover stitcher, a factory grade ironing board, and a factory grade steam iron. Take home and keep :) The program is so helpful, and both Chris and Stenly are truly dedicated to helping their students be the best! And they have become lifelong friends. I have so many binders full of samples, so many sewing tools, and so much knowledge about fashion design. The program is truly 5 stars and better than anything you’ll be able to find anywhere. Thank you Chris and Stenly for being the best! :) I will truly miss going to class when my program is over.
Z Ali: Just completely “wowed” by my experience at VSC and with Chris and Stenly! You guys are absolutely amazing. Your passion for the craft comes through in your lessons. I searched for months before I found your school and I am so happy I did! The way you design your lessons and your teaching skills surpassed all my expectations! Thank you! Looking forward to taking more classes over the coming year.
chan mavis lok yiu: Its a incredible experience. They are both good teachers which really teach you useful sewing skills. They provide different programs and help with your assignments.Very patient and friendly,Best place ever
Z T: What on earth would possess someone to pay $1k for a short sewing program and drive over 1000km round trip (5 hours each way), PER CLASS, to do it? Well, we did it. Because this is a unique program. Nothing remotely close to this exists in our own region. Because the instructors are excellent. Because my teen took their portfolio home to my mom, who has been sewing for years, and she gasped because the quality was better than anything my mom could do. Because this has been the only time I can remember where my teen will actually sit and do something for 3 hours at a time, not only without complaining, but walking away from each session encouraged and inspired. Even when mistakes were made and things had to be redone. If you break the cost down per hour, it’s similar to the cost of group horseback riding lessons in the lower mainland. Only this experience is 1:1, they send you home with a sewing machine and supplies worth hundreds of dollars, and you have a very useful lifelong skill set. Once you master the basics you can customize the classes to your specific interests, too. For us, that means corsetry is next.We are temporarily recuperating from the frequent long distance drives and look forward to continuing. Thank you guys for such an awesome (and useful) experience! 🙏
Addie Tinholt: I took the 6 session intro to sewing classes and loved it. Very in-depth, but also understandable and easy to grasp. Chris and Stenly are great instructors, not only thorough, but patient and inspiring. I can’t wait for my next course with them.
Dexter Chaisson: Learning with Chris and Stanley was a great experience. All the programs are very hands on and you get working on a project right away. They have great knowledge of the industry and the 1 on 1 aspect makes it easy to learn. Definitely check them out!
Karen Russell-Barley: I just completed the beginner short sewing program and my sewing skills have improved greatly. I'm kicking myself for not taking this class years ago. Although I have been able to sew clothes for myself I have spent years avoiding anything difficult. I now feel more confident knowing I can sew in a precise manner. Chris and Stanley were a pleasure to learn from. I liked that Chris has been in the industry for years and is a wealth of knowledge. The classes were very organised, structured and professional. There was flexibility in the day and time I could take my classes and that worked well with my schedule.

University Canada West: what do users think?
Thandiwe Zimba: I am greatful to have been accepted for MBA at UCW. I thank Larissa Nerves my student advisor who has been so helpful with my admission process. It is like having a sister helping you, quick response and explaining things in details. The Team you are the best. Thumbs up!
Raju Tamang: I still don't understand how come this university smaller than a town house is consider as university.
Kourosh ramezanian: Responding to emails is supper slow
Sushil Gaurav: It was great experience to share, specially Priyanka Vatti (one of the official from UCW) who helped me every time i needed and now i got my visa. I would like to thank her again when I'll meet her at campus.
Birdaman Singh: 👍
Sophia Sandel: The worst experience I have ever had in a University. Staff doesn’t care about students, and most of the time are in a bad mood. Most teachers only read PowerPoint slides, and academic advising staff always contradicts each other. If you are planning to come to Vancouver to study, please look for other University. I wish I have read real comments about here before paying my tuition.
Hervé WAGOUM: So beautiful place to be
Osemudiamen idemudia: The experience has been great. Friendly advisors, easy to contact also very helpfully and understanding.
Ahmad Majidi: It has been two months since I requested a meeting with the university officials due to a problem in the contract, but no one is answering me. I think this university has no leader. Unfortunately, only this university knows money and does not care about students. I have to file a complaint against this university. Choose a university that respects you.
Yashoda Rani: University is really good.
carol Sandhu: The Finance Department staff are very unknowledgeable and unhelpful.
Cecile Pauline Cruspero: As a student, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at university. The academic environment is stimulating and challenging, and the professors are knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects. The campus offers a range of resources and opportunities, from research facilities to student organizations, that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. Overall, my university experience has been rewarding and has prepared me well for the future.
Ishwar Singh: Fabulous
Diana Romero: As a student, I love UCW because it has allowed me to grow, meet people and, of course, learn everything about business administration with the MBA. I would like to run a company in the future, and I would like to apply all the knowledge that I have gotten from here to have a better income and quality of life.
Gihan Chathura: Good campus
Arvind Cv: I'm worried about the negetive reviews that the university demanding extra fees by few students and family members.Ucw team has been replying to all 5 star reviews that now looks self made.I'm sure that they wouldn't miss the negetive reviews that affects the enrollments. Request the UCW Management to respond to the negetive reviews as well in an elaborated manner to understand this issue from both the sides. Thanks.
Nasser: I really appreciate my experience at UCW, especially the fast and clear response to enquiries. I'm grateful to my student support advisor Swati Gandham, for her guidance, friendly attitude and for being so helpful with my concerns during the admission process.
Navindu Sri Deshan Subusinghe: Worst University ever don’t go there for any ProgrammeThey are only after Money They don’t care about our education only the MoneyWorst Place ever
Osarugue Usoh: Priyanka, You are a 5 star general in student affairs. My encounter with you during the admission process is quite phenomenon. quite relentless to seeing things work out. you are certainly the best.
Mbanefo Cosmas: I really had an amazing experience and great response from PRIYANKA VATTI she made everything go seamlessly
Augusto O.: Dear future international students considering the University Canada West (UCW),I recently completed the MBA course at UCW, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst learning experiences in my life. While the professors were extremely good, the management of the university was the worst service I have ever experienced, which is ironic considering it is a management school. One major issue I faced was that every term, classes would switch professors or even schedule after enrollment. The enrollment process was also quite shady, as some students were given priority registration without any disclosure of how they deserved it. It was especially frustrating to see students from some preferred nationalities always getting their way with their buddies working at enrollment, which made it difficult for students not from that specific group to enroll in their desired classes fairly.Another major issue was the university's tolerance for slackers. In group projects, it was not uncommon for one or two members to contribute significantly less than others, yet everyone received the same grade. The university also never graded anyone over 80%, which made it difficult to receive genuine feedback on really good work.Furthermore, once I graduated, I had to wait forever for the necessary documents. The university seemed to turn a blind eye to this issue, and I had to exchange emails with them for an extended period since there was no phone number to speak to a person.Lastly, the learning itself was very superficial. It seemed like the course was more like a bachelor's in administration. 60% of the course content was already covered in a few administration courses in my bachelor's, even though I am an Engineer. I also had to take the "pre-MBA," which cost an extra 20% of the course value, even though I noticed various BBA students had much worse knowledge of the basics but never had to take the "pre-MBA." Unfortunately, it felt like the university was creating rules and pushing students around.I know I am not the only one with these issues, and I fear that some day, some unlucky student will hurt themselves over all these problems that UCW just doesn't seem to care about. Therefore, if you are an international student considering coming to Canada, please do your research thoroughly. UCW may end up being a burden on your mental health, so I advise you to consider other options.I hope this review helps you make an informed decision.Editing to address the reply:Priority is given to certain students, the registering hours vary and no one knows based on what. It was based on merit (GPA) for a single term, but now there is a system and no one knows how it works, as they refuse to disclose it.Many students have achieved grades higher than 80% - many is a VERY broad term. I will leave you guys with this: I've had a professor tell me my project was the best in class, he only had one very small suggestion for the project. Then he showed me the grade, it was 76. And this is not a single case, this happened over and over, with different classes and professors. I still don't understand how a nearly perfect project deserves only 76, but then again, I've heard from professors that they cannot have the class average above a certain value, or they get into trouble with management. The "specific timeline" for diplomas is not respected. They will take weeks or months more and will refuse to provide a reasonable solution (or charge extra for documents you never received). The preparatory program will be mandatory for people with over 5 years experience in the market but who are engineers - It is a cash grab. I see no sensible explanation why I had to take the course and STILL help various colleagues fresh out of a BBA course (so they did not need the preparatory course) how to do accounting on Excel.Unfortunately, the values for them are so switched up, they cannot even understand what is wrong. They also do not even address half the issues I have mentioned. And their suggestions to discuss further is (surprise) an email, no phone number.

Langara College: what do users think?
A G: My partner attends school here. The curriculum is TOP tier, and the Proffessors are very approachable. She is stressed, only because the possibilities for our future are SO great. Her class is similar to the course at UBC. And THAT is amazing.
Kay Matthew: For all the money they make in International Student tuition they sure don't put that money back into their staffing. The administration staff are terrible and have zero customer service skills. I guess working with International students who don't understand rudeness has created this weird acceptance among the staff that they are superior to their students. This school needs a major overhaul to match the beautiful campus and potential they have. Get your education and get out. No one walks around the world proud to be a Langara alumni, and that's pretty sad.
Thomas Yemane: Great instructors for math, physics, chemistry, was a regular at the Tim Hortons, big fan of the gorgeous T building.
B A: Outstanding institute
Kenneth Lai: The staff is friendly and helpful.
Arshit Verma: Worst college. Worst decision to get in here. Teachers doesn’t know how to teach , they make the easy concept by teaching it in a boring way. Even they do partiality. Also the courses of your programme are never available so no fun of choosing your programme because you never get your course. This college is nothing else but just a source of extra stress in your life. Never chose this college especially if you’re an international students.
Derrick Man: There are amazing and some bad instructors (some just read word-by-word from lecture slides and fail to explain the concepts).Since September 2021, if you send an EMAIL to some departments (Business, Registration...), they will respond: “We are experiencing a high volume of emails” or “We are experiencing a heavier load of emails” and will respond to your email within 2-14 business days. The business department used to not accept in-person service and didn’t allow students to walk into their department. One time, I tried walking into the business department. I heard people (Langara employees) inside laughing, chilling, and talking around with other employees. When I walked in, they were completely silent (lol), and they kicked me out of their department. They told me to send them an email (bruh, I sent them emails, and they never responded)No FOOD Options. Langara only has Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Triple O, and Subway. Those are considered basic food options (what a college is supposed to have). How are you supposed to survive 2+ years with these food options? 😂😂 You have to take a bus to Fraser in order to get more food options.TEXTBOOKS: When you don’t want to buy textbooks, or you borrow a textbook from a friend, they still force you to buy a package (ex: Pearson MyLab) that comes/includes the textbook. You don’t have the option to get a package that doesn’t include a textbook. If you don’t buy that package, you can LOSE 5-100% of your FINAL Grade.⚠️⚠️⚠️ Be CAREFUL when you walk to/from school at NIGHT. It’s pretty dark, and there are no pedestrian lights. I almost TRIPPed a few times while walking there. I already reported to the school, and they haven’t taken action.B Building is like a prison. Need to improve the design of classrooms and the building.Course Selection: there are few elective courses (easy to ok difficulty level).
HappyGirl1989: Oh boy, where do I start and how I can explain this. I am current kinesiology student, I wanted to know if my creative writing classes count as a prerequisite for kin 1150. The Dean of the department told me that is not a prerequisite for English 1123. I contacted the English department Noel Currie who is the advising for English courses. I showed her my creative writing classes, she gave me an override and waived it for me. I try to register for kin 1150 no success. I contacted the same person who is part of the English advising department. She doesn't even know why it’s doing this to me, she told me to contact the registers office. I call the registers office they put me on hold for over 5 minutes. I hang up and call back, they looked at my profile and told me that a prerequisite override has nothing to do with meeting the prerequisites of English 1123. This is only for if you do not get into the classes for English 1123 or any other type of English class. I am not sure what words to explain on how angry and disgusted I am on behalf of this entire college. I hope everyone is reading this and do not come here, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. Don’t end up in the same boat like me, this is ridicule and unacceptable. Oh and to end my review, one kin prof called my message a spam. I think your whole college is a spam, take that Langara!
Paras Paras: They take 3 times more money from international students but no special efforts are made for new comers and they are expected to be at the level of domestic students who are used to the education system. Overall all of colleges and universities work together to loot international students which is how they've built the structures of their building.
David Balkanyi: Langara College is like Flair Airlines too bad for the few nice instructors
Sabrina Chang: Langara College owns a relatively small campus but still with beautiful architecture and views.
LV Long: They just want the $$$$
gurpartap singh: Very nice college
Jaskaran Jaskaran: Worst college.
giao alan: trash
Hòa Đoàn: When I had to study in an environment at Langara College, I felt very negative because of the way the teacher's teaching caused. Teachers are the first to be born, I feel very dissatisfied because of the teacher's actions. Of course, it was not only the teachers who spoke badly, but Langara University itself influenced me, the school took a lot of money from me and my friends. In my opinion you should not attend this school.
Abo Tufano: Langara has been freshly renewed so that now it can compete with other more famous public colleges of British Columbia.
Eren Yeager: Management is awful here at this school. Amazing teachers though.
Harpreet Singh: One of the worst ever college especially for international students because they just want your money. This college never respond to any application enquiry. They will tell you that general timeline is 4 to 6 weeks for application processing even after 12+ weeks no response from their side.
Tammy Young: Went to school here was a wonderful experience some of the best moments I have spent in my life was here. Some nostalgic moments never leave you I will always remember you my college!
Robin Brenner: Good College
