Douglas Ryan: Don and Kyo are a team of talented, experienced professionals. They fulfilled our request to transform a drab, bare-bones condo into a lovely, bright functional home. When we first met with them, they listened to our goals and ideas. They did a detailed comprehensive assessment of the space complete with photos and measurements. We were impressed by the plan they presented, their knowledge of materials and trades and their suggestions to use our budget to the best advantage.The finished product was delivered on time and within budget despite the inconvenience of having to work around COVID-19 restrictions. David Fisher: If you are looking for a designer, we strongly and unreservedly suggest you talk to Zwada Design, Don and Kyo.On the spur of the moment, we sold a house we loved and downsized to a condo. We had made the house truly our own and were concerned whether we could create the same feeling in the new place. With Don and Kyo’s help, we now have a furnished condo that we love, so that we don’t miss the house at all.How did Don and Kyo do it? First of all, we agreed that for our purposes it would be a slow process. At the beginning, they spent a great deal of time ensuring that they understood our aesthetic values. They looked at photos of our old house, talked about what we wanted, and little by little developed plans. They talked to us about our art and art glass collection, what it meant to us, and how it might fit into the condo.The process was incremental and there was much back and forth, but the important part is that it all came together wonderfully.Once they had idea of what we wanted, Don and Kyo offered choices and suggestions. Some of these choices were different from what we might have thought of on our own, and yet, as soon as we saw photo or the plan, we realized that it fitted in with our vision. From furniture, to carpeting, paint schemes, wallpaper, art placement, and some minor structural additions, their suggestions were spot on. They also took us to suppliers that we would not have found or have been able to access on our own. In the end, we have a condo that reflects our style exactly, one we enjoy every day, and one which we couldn’t have realized without their help.They are great to work with, friendly, collaborative, and knowledgeable. They were quick to respond to any question or concern, and engaged trades people who were reliable and efficient. What they billed us was clearly explained and very reasonable.Finally, we are sure that we saved money by working with Don and Kyo. They were very respectful of our budget. They excelled at pointing out ways in which we could save money in some areas in order to allow us to spend the most money where it would have the greatest impact. When we look at the quality of what we have, we are surprised that the price we paid wasn’t much higher.

Esther Chan: We absolutely love Don and Kyo. We had just bought our first townhome and really wanted to make it look nice and comfortable but we had absolutely no idea where to start. Right off the bat, we found them to be confident in their skills, their passion in their work was very evident, accommodating and they were honest. I liked how they gave us their suggestions but would listen when we came up with some ideas as well. They were honest with us about what will work and what will not. As we have two little kids, they always kept that on their minds when looking for furniture pieces that would be kid-friendly but still also stylish. Sanja Kraljevic: I honestly can't say enough good things about Chrissy and her team. I bought my first home, purchased a few initial pieces and then hit a wall as to how to pull them together into something aesthetically cohesive. Chrissy took great care to distill and understand my stylistic preferences and adopt and build upon my vision. She honoured the pieces I had already brought in and incorporated them seamlessly into her design. Her choice of furnishings and decorative details were both opulent and somehow understated and entirely complementary to the existing pieces. It's not just her immense talent that impressed me, as I'm sure there are many competent designers in the field. Rather, it was was her warmth, care and attention to detail that were remarkable. I appreciated how transparent she was with costs and mindful of my budget. She presented multiple options with quotes and recommendations, which enabled me to understand the spend on the project along every step. What I initially envisioned as a daunting endeavour turned out to be very enjoyable, and it was because Chrissy facilitated a process where every decision was a fully informed one. Mine was definitely one of the smaller projects on her plate, but at every turn I felt like a priority. Dr. Sereena Uppal: I met Chrissy a few years ago and was in awe of her eye for beautiful things. It took me some time to get the courage to ask for her help in redesigning my condo. With her right hand associate Ryan, the two took my home from an uninspiring space to one of a sanctuary. I definitely have what some refer to as champagne taste haha (but don’t we all) and both Chrissy and Ryan were able to find me pieces that were stunning, timeless and within my budget. They always reminded me where I was within my budget and made suggestions as where the most value was in the pieces they recommended, and where to not invest my dollars into things that had no return in investment if I ever chose to sell. Tara Bosch: PLEASE! read before retaining or working with Chrissy!I recently purchased my first home and was extremely excited to turn it into my dream home. I began my search for an interior designer to make my dream come to life. I stumbled upon Chrissy's Instagram page and liked her style and portfolio, which led me to reach out to her. Initially I was so excited about working with Chrissy, I never imagined in a million years I would be leaving a review forewarning others from working with Chrissy and/or CHCC.I put my full faith, trust, and confidence in Chrissy and after over a year of working with her, I learned she took advantage of me in such an outrageous and unscrupulous manner that I couldn't initially wrap my mind around it. Turns out Chrissy charged me significant mark ups on actual cost of furniture and building materials. Our contract stated I was to receive her “designer discounts” and “VIP pricing”, which made abundant sense to me since I paid Chrissy a stipulated sum to compensate her for design services in addition to, what I was told would be, the supplier cost for all furniture and interior design materials, less discounts about which Chrissy was so proud to tell me. An example of this was marble slabs, which I learned came with an actual supplier cost of $2,000 per slab. Chrissy charged me around $12,000 per slab.When furniture and building materials were delivered to my home I hoped they would at least be of exceedingly high quality and fit for their intended purpose. Many items delivered to my home was of extremely poor quality, workmanship, and most items didn't fit in the spaces specified. One example being a bathroom vanity that wouldn't allow the door to close, another was a kitchen banquette that stuck out beyond one of the walls by more than 3 inches. In one example lucite handles were ordered that and massive mark-ups charged for that I came to find out were ordered from Etsy. The majority of the light fixtures specified for my home came from a company from which CHCC holds distribution rights. This resulted in Chrissy relying heavily on a single lighting supplier, resulting in further exorbitant markups. Never did I agree to pay Chrissy or CHCC markups for items they sourced on my behalf. Consistently throughout the project Chrissy confirmed for me that I was getting “great deals” and was given “all of her trade discounts''. This was far from the truth.Chrissy brands herself as an interior designer when my experiences exposed her as a decorator. I had to learn the difference between these designations the hard way. There was a significant amount of materials specified that in the end had to be removed because they failed to meet functional requirements, and in the worst cases, did not meet building code or applicable regulations.Walking through the house, it became clear Chrissy attempted to create isolated rooms to be photographed, not for my benefit but to bolster her portfolio. Chrissy would often tell me about how she thought the house would be featured in a design magazine and I quickly learned she seems to have designed the house for her own benefit, rather than my best interest and my design wishes.It has been a categorical disaster and heartbreaking journey, one I thought I would never experience and never wish for anyone else to experience..when you search for CHCC on the internet you will note 5-star reviews and a beautiful website, something my experience showed me is carefully orchestrated. If you read my review and are still considering working with Chrissy or CHCC, I urge you to do your due diligence and talk to others in the Vancouver interior design industry before taking the leap. Kellyanne Yep: I had a wonderfully positive experience with Chrissy & her team!Her work speaks for itself, but I know when I was considering various interior designers, I was looking for a team where I could have a collaborative dynamic; work within my (smaller) budget without surprises; and receive prompt communication.Chrissy, Ryan & Caroline delivered on all of the above and were consistently warm & lovely to work with. As someone with minimal knowledge of interiors, costs, etc., they were great with my questions & design revisions. Looking back at quotes received from other designers, they also provided the most realistic/honest feedback on my budget. The final result was extraordinarily “me” and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.

Inside is part shop and part studio, creating an inviting environment to shop in, but also, to absolutely fall in love with Chrissy's truly beautiful and elegant style. We bought an older house, built in 1929, that needed some updates and reconfigurations while keeping the charm of the older home. Negar nailed it! Our home now works for us (my partner and I and our teenage daughters). The have a selection of outstanding professionals with vast knowledge, experience, and attitude to help drastic changes within the proposed budget on our recent renovation. Kathryn S: Reading the other reviews, it is quite possible that Kamelia and her crew are good at staging. However, I attempted to use this business to spruce up my condominium in the midst of some renovations and I was extremely disappointed. Kamelia wanted $3000 up front. She indicated that the work would be done so quickly that me giving her part of this would be inconvenient.I thought her hourly rate was high but I did believe I would receive value at least initially, mostly on the basis of other reviews.My renovations were moving along but I had a hard time getting the design work done to keep the project going. What I eventually got was an assortment of suggestions. Though some were good, there was no overall plan or attention to how things would fit together in my condo. I needed direction but I ended up having to pick most everything myself. I did like one of the tile selections for my fireplace, but I have certainly not justified this expense on the basis of that alone.At the end, I told Kamelia that if she could just come up with a few things for wall decor that would help. Instead of agreeing to that she seemed to want to run up the design hours some more and I was doubtful that the additional expense would be productive considering the history of how things had gone.I have worked with three designers before and I can tell you that this recent experience was unique. Kaleim Nathani: Reached out to this firm via their website as I was looking for a designer who could help with our new office. AK a design was the first place to respond - I scheduled a phone meeting with Anneliese for the next day.The phone meeting went great, or so I thought at the time. I explained our needs and asked a bunch of questions. Several times I asked point blank: “Does your company handle this kind of thing?” For example, I explained that our office has a server room with specific electrical and wiring needs. Anneliese did a great job explaining her process and putting me at ease. I was repeatedly assured they could handle a 5,000SF office. After the call, they were my first choice of who to work with. The call lasted half an hour.Unfortunately I guess they were just leading me on, because after I sent them floor plans and all the other information they requested, I received a generic two sentence email from AK Design saying they are not a good fit for my needs and I should find someone else.I replied back and asked, since they don’t specialize in offices, if they could at least recommend another design firm to reach out to. I received no response. Thank goodness I’d already begun contacting other designers, because AK Design showed no respect for my time.
