Kingsley Bailey: The best we'll kept secret Jazz room in the lower mainland supporting well-known acts and also the local Jazz scene and all while offering great service and food choices
Thomas Coppi Cunha: Amazingly welcome atmosphere, the server Philip was also incredible with his services.
Progressive Cardiac Services: Good times!
Gregory Kehm: I'd say the best live jazz venue in Vancouver and with superb Italian food flavours. Reservations are a very good idea. A cover charge is added when there is live music.
the awakened wanderer: Attended with group of friends. Lovely place, amazing service, awesome vibes, great food and cherry on top, Live Jazz performance by amazing amazing artist. What more can you expect for a beautiful evening.
Jacquelyn Johnston: Tonight was my first time here, went with a group of friends to hear LJ Mountenay. The music, while not jazz, was exceptionally good blues. The place was packed. The ambience, overall service, drinks and food were really good.I rated it four stars because although our server was lovely, efficient and kept our water glasses (prepoured when we arrived) full, she didn't come back to check on how we were enjoying our meals so I couldn't tell her my delicious lasagna wasn't quite hot enough. Also, while not her fault, my food contained a few bits of gristle and something herbal (leaves and stem) I couldn't chew through. I discreetly spit them into my napkin and brought it home to take a pic, but I haven't had success adding photos to reviews before. I'll try it. Perhaps someone can identify what it was. Looks a bit like bay leaf to me but it's poisonous so ... I don't know, probably not unless I die in my sleep.Okay, never mind the photo. I'm old and tired and don't want to start downloading apps. Maybe I can edit this later. As I said, overall a pleasant evening out.One more tiny note. I didn't hear the server thank me for the tip, which to me is imperative. If you expect a tip, I expect appreciation for it. I go out a fair bit, always tip but don't always get thanked and whenever that happens it makes me wish I hadn't bothered. So I'm just putting it out there to servers everywhere.By the way, the origin of tips is that it was an acronym for To Insure Prompt Service, usually given to the maitre'd to encourage fast seating and good service. Now, it's an expectation like an extra tax added to the bill. In my opinion, saying thank you is just as important a part of a server's job as saying hello with a smile. But, as I said, I'm old.
Ken Krueger WhiteCatzs: Great value for your money and home to Vancouver’s best jazz musicians. There are late night shows as well - starting around 11:30pm ( Frankie’s After Dark) with more experimental jazz performances by young up and coming musicians
Peter Myers: Nice place, good food (Italian) great music the night we were there. Early start for the music 20:00, which suited us. Not far from Expo line.
Saddesh Gurikankar: I don’t usually partake in jazz music or smoke but the other night I had a few puffs and watched the D. Restivo Trio and all I can say is that my mind has been expanded. I’ll be back to this club.
Carlyle Wilde: What an amazing way to spend a rainy Vancouver Friday night. We went for the live jazz music and we're very impressed at this well thought out intimate environment. We sat at the bar and the bartender provided an extremely high level of service. We had the Shrimp Tagliatelle in Lobster cream sauce, Chicken Parmigiana, Mussels and the Frankie's Pizza. All the items we ordered were very flavorful and I am sure all the others dishes on their men are just as delectable from this talented kitchen.
Robert Franco: Had a great time at Frankie’s Jazz Club. Good food and wine, great jazz and service, intimate venue. Can’t wait to go back.
Ula Cogito: Not great at all. Avoid it.
Political Foolishness: So you vet musical talent based on what now? Can you publish the complete list of criteria? For any future talent you book, should we scrutinize their views or sense of humor prior to coming to listen to their music? BTW, if you decide to rebook John Stetch, don't charge him a cent and make your announcement on Rebel News. I can guarantee your place will be full and you will be glad to welcome him back and all will be forgotten about this unfortunate political entanglement you have made for yourselves.
David Kujawa: You start bending to the mob of cancel culture then your time will come to be cancelled. Such a shame you have no backbone.
julian ferrer: frankies
N Boyko: Disappointed to hear about your venue’s recent decision to cancel the John Stetch musical performances. He is clearly a brilliant pianist and has dabbled in comedic impressions of prominent politicians. There is nothing inappropriate about engaging in humour to affect change in the political arena or cultural landscape. This has been the great thing about living in Canada—lots of creative comedians over the years poking fun at some of the ridiculous and often hypocritical things politicians say. It seems we’ve lost the ability to see humour for what it is, just that: humour. A small group has conspired to “cancel” Mr. Stetch based on a complete lack of understanding and context of his political satire. Frankie’s Jazz Club, unfortunately, has chosen to cave to this group of intolerant and immature people, rather than encouraging Mr. Stetch’s creativity in both music and comedy.
Cindy Dai - Thiessen: A flagship venue for jazz music in Vancouver. Great for the attentive-listening crowd. One of the only places in the city that now has a late night series (starts at 11:15 pm) that showcases creative music that tethers from the jazz and improvised music tradition. Good cocktails!
Matt Franceschini: Incredible staff and wonderful music!
jeff anderson: Really disappointed that you discriminate against talented artists who may have their own personal beliefs and political views. John Stetch is an amazing pianist and a lovely person. We have loved and thoroughly enjoyed his performances in the past. We definitely won't be returning to your venue as long as you exclude musicians based on hear say.
michelle: This is a great place to see and hear great local and international musicians! Special shoutout to the staff for giving their time to accommodate the late night series; it couldn’t be done without them.
Ella King: I really enjoy music in general. I like to see all kinds of artists share their love of music and skill with people like me who were not given this talent.Musicians communicate through the stroke of a guitar string, a beat of a drum or through the combination of piano keys. It takes us from a place in the present world, which can be confusing and hard to understand, to a world where all there is, is the music. There are no politics, there are no arguments, there is no right or wrong, there is just the emotions brought forward by the notes being played. To have this establishment cancel an accomplished musician for his comedy spoofs based on real events, has me in disbelief. Do you know the beliefs of ALL of your performers - I highly doubt that. Gone are the days where we actually give people the benefit of the doubt.Frankie's needs to get back to being about the music.

Julie Clement: As a person with celiac disease finding safe places to eat is key. This restaurant had very knowledgeable staff, dedicated fryer and did not charge extra for a gluten free bun. Huge menu of cocktails and other drinks, lunch/dinner menu could get pricey as sides priced extra, but brunch worked out pretty reasonable and with great sized portionsDietary restrictions: Celiac General Manager means this is taken seriously

Luff Puff: crazy over priced!Lots of other places you can go to for happy hour. Also very cheap! won't turn on the air conditioning on a hot day. You're charging $20 cocktails! come on!
Brendan Boyle: Burnt fish n chips ruined it for us.... Otherwise, a nice spot with good atmosphere and service that is a little overpricedFood: 1/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Onion Rings …More
Monir Moussa: Amazing atmosphere and we had one of the best servers. He knew what drinks to suggest and everyone at the table was very happy with the service. Where it fell short was the food. It was pretty basic in regards to the burger options I felt like I got better value at bin 4 and also the food wasn't as tasty as bin 4. One of my friends compared their burger to Wendys. Sides were extra 10 dollars for onion rings. We didn't really try anything else on the menu but for me and another person after tip it was 150 for burgers and 3 drinks. Sadly I won't return as I wasn't impressed by that food and I feel you should be impressed with the food at that price aka close to 40 dollars a person just for burgers and sides.
Kari Chávez: Buenos tragos, buena música, excelente servicio
Caitlin Carter: Amazing and cozy vibe. Delicious food - we got the chicken sandwich and the pourhouse burger. Some of the best we’ve ever had. The service and location were also great.Recommended dishes Truffle Tots, Fried Chicken, The Pourhouse Burger …More
Heather Chatterton: We are definitely not alone or CRAZY in our perceptions of this Gastown restaurant! I AM really sorry for this review, but the tastes are there with us- we will NEVER go back or recommend it. Our daughter ordered drinks, and items from the menu-some happy hour prices, and regular, to try. We left feeling VERY sorry she had paid SO much for so little- and awful!Results- 3 menu-stated, "known for their Caesar salads-" less than one cup of romaine, a few croutons, and grated cheese-NONE with "creamy anchovy dressing!" HOW could that be missed?? Ok, onward. In rereading to see what WAS "missing-" the dressing! She ordered 2 steaks-1 rib steak $58, 1 sirloin, a little cheaper-ALL that came on those 2 plates at that price-no sides-2 tiny slices of fried onion on each plate? My husband had a few pieces he couldn't even chew! 3 Scotch eggs to taste-NOT bad- CRAZY price of about $7.00 ea. happy hour price! 3 balls of sausage/ one egg in each! The fried chips came- 1/4 C of mayo/sour cream-SMALL bowl! When the waitress came to take the dishes away, THEN, she told us we could have had a REFILL! Fried chicken to share- SMALL bowl 5 tiny pieces- 3 pickle slices, 3 wisps of marinated cabbage-mustard was the dip😝!!? Smash Burger- Happy hour price about $7-MAYBE 3 inches around, SO DRY-even with cheese, thinner than a junior McD burger! 2 regular Caesar drinks came-full of ice with 1 olive. I joked to the waiter about the other not having any. He brought me 3 olives-first before he handed that to me-he asked if I "was allergic to nuts!?" Seriously🙄! Jokingly back I replied -"not unless they are walking around-" but HE WAS serious! Service was VERY slow- NOT even busy at 5:00PM. The waiters/ waitresses were pleasant-but that IS their job and-they were tipped well! ALL the food had come to our table- we just wanted to get out-it was AWFUL! Sad! It IS in a neat, popular, touristy part of town- but when you enter ANY restaurant-HOPE IS that the food IS good, as patrons ARE innocently there for the tastes and experiences! This was quite costly and a wasted $400plus!
Navdeep Kohli: Ambience, food and top notch service from Micheal. Must say he is excellent at his work and makes the experience just perfectRecommended dishes Tater Tots, Scotch Egg …More
Lavanya Ashok: My favourite restaurant and pub in Vancouver. The food and drinks are amazing. The staff is phenomenal! My friend was visiting over the weekend, and she tends to get seizures when exposed to bright light. The staff were so accomodating and lovely. When a mini episode did take place, they took control swiftly, and made sure my friend felt safe and comfortable. You guys were just amazing and I'm going to sing your praises to everyone! Thank you!
Zach Scragg: Ordered the Pourhouse burger, fries, and a scotch egg for takeout. Opted for this place because it seemed a cut above pub burgers and I was looking for something special. Staff were super friendly and attentive when I picked it up, the scotch egg was pretty good and so were the fries. Unfortunately, the burger tasted like it hadn't been spiced, so the beef had that meat locker flavour. I had a few bites but couldn't finish it. It also had one of those McDonald's style buns that smooshes down into nothing when you pick it up. I know the bun was intentional and that they're popular right now, but not sure I can say the same about the beef. Will probably try it again sometime though, maybe the burger thing was a fluke 🤷♂️
Ashutosh Anil: Good ambience and service - food leaves something to be desired. Maybe it was just me - but didn't love the fish and chips I had. I know the appies are great.Wish there were vegetarian options in the cooked food section of the menu. Will try again n the future and hoping my experience will be better.

rebecca donnell: This was a hard review to give.Went on a Thursday night knowing there was a live band. Band with cello was great and suited the cool decor and vibe.Rotating popcorn was caramel that night which consisted of a warm caramel drizzle on top that I could’ve eaten bowls and bowls of.The food outside of that was pretty bad. Pre-made frozen onion rings that the chef then salted to death. Burger with a bun that seemed like something a couple days old from the grocery store and a slice of American cheese. Fine if you’re dining at a road side stand but we definitely expected something better from a Main Street in Gastown.Three stars given (generous) because the server was suuuper nice and without barely a word said called the manager who was also did everything she could to make things right.
Jane: Scotch egg was tasty. Atmosphere was great. Looking forward to returning for a full meal.
Brittany: First time back in 9 years. Exceptional experience and food (scotch egg 👌) - same as I remember.Very impressive that the standards are still consistent.
Jesse Houston: Recommended dishes Scotch Egg, Pourhouse BurgerMore
Bond Armstrong: Food was decent, but pretty pricey. The beef tartare was decent but small portion (came with 3 half slices of sourdough). The macaroni was creamy. The spicy chicken sandwich was okay but the proportions of chicken to the rest of the sandwich was off; there was way too much chicken (silly thing to complain about). It wasn’t very spicy which was nice for my taste, but others might want it spicier. Cocktails were very pricy which turned me off from ordering one. Menu is quite small and the burgers do not come with a side; a side of fries was $6 extra.
Emily Decker: Food was exceptional! Great ambience, service, and drinks, but the standout star was definitely the beef! At our table we had a steak, a burger, and the tartare, so no matter which way you enjoy it, the beef is delicious!Recommended dishes Scotch Egg …More
Caleb Loewen: We had such a lovely time here! So many options if you are celiac or have a gluten free diet! Food and drink were both incredible. Our server, Kess, was very knowledgeable and gave us excellent recommendations for drinks. The live music really added to the experience. We will definitely return!Parking: Parkade right beside the restaurant was convenient but expensive.Dietary restrictions: So many gluten free options! They have a separate gf fryer and grill!

Brandi Rodriguez: We had just arrived into town from taking the Amtrack from Seattle, we had to grab something at the local Costco and found this restaurant nearby. Overall the place is very nice. My party ate the veal and said it was very good, I ordered the shrimp tagliatelle and was not impressed with the sauce, luckily the shrimp was delicious to make up for the lack of sauce flavor.Side note, they do have a happy hour with a small selection of drinks and food selection.Kid-friendliness: Location had a kid menu for $11 including a beverage and ice cream.

Vaish Sivajothy: Quaint venue with a view of the steam clock and mountains based on your seating. Scrumptious food and incredible live music under the glow of twinkling lights. The performer of the night “Sean from the Yukon” was mesmerizing.
Diana Sonobe: It was my first time on the 2nd floor. Overall, I like this place. It´s cozy, intimist and the staff friendly, especially Marcela, who had excellent customer service. So, I´d like to share the pros and cons of 2nd Floor Gastown:Food: it´s ok for brunch. They have some good options. I wasn´t hungry, so I ordered a waffle that was a little oily but came with cream and maple syrup; those helped to taste better. Also, I ordered a mocha, which was DELICIOUS. My friend arrived later and ordered a soup that didn´t come with bread, so she ordered a side of toast foccacia. The size was fine, but unfortunately, it was a little burned, and she couldn´t eat. I had a toast before, and it was good; maybe they have to have more attention to ensure that all customers have the same.Customer service: When I arrived, the host immediately took me to the second floor. I didn´t know about the menu, but the waiter (Marcela) helped me choose my coffee (they don´t have a menu for coffee), and she was always attentive to me, other customers and the musicians. I´d say that this was the 5 stars service. My suggestion is that they should have a menu for coffee brunch. It will be helpful to customers to choose by themselves.Ambient: Overall was ok. The place was clean and organized and smelled good.Music: I went to enjoy my friends playing, and I think this is a good idea. Maybe the 2nd floor could do more marketing because I heard from some people that they didn´t know about the Brunch and Music. They host musicians who play several rhythms. Check them out on their website and enjoy them as much as I did. Back that day, we had a pleasure to enjoy our friends @sara_magal, @stevenjcharlesTips: I worked as a waiter before, and I know the tips help to complement the wage, but it will be nice to include the 15% option as well. Some customers want to tip, but sometimes they don´t have enough to tip 18, 20, or 30%.Parking: I highly recommend you don´t use your own car. It´s difficult to park around, and the price will be high if you get a spot. Try car share, public transportation or Cab/Uber.Thank you for reading it, and I hope it is helpful! Enjoy what makes you happy!
Mydhili Furtado: Really amazing service and food.
David Kowel: music was fine, food was awful. overcooked steak, unseasoned veg, childish plating. if you’re going to see a show here, eat somewhere else first.
Chloe Chan: shockingly underwhelmingno idea how is rated so high- maybe i wasn’t drunk enoughgenuinely thought i accidentally ordered off the kids menu, but then the bill came aroundthe most flavourable thing served to us was the sauce dish of three, fire-roasted tomatoes swimming in butternice music though and good server
Nathan D Silva: Went during the dine out dinner menu and everything except the tiramisu was mediocre (the tiramisu was one of my favorites). The starter soup was quite basic and the duck, although cooked to perfection, was underseasoned and didn't taste of much. For the price point, I was definitely expecting more.It also took a really really long time to get served meals and there was no bread or anything small to help during the wait.I may try this place when not during dine out as I think the crowd overwhelmed them and their food/service slacked.
かわしまさら: Went there for lunch Dineout. Poor service, our waiter looked like he didn't want to work there at all. Appies and dessert were decent and big portions. But main dish was disappointing, the duck was super bland. The live music was ok, I guess we didn't get very good musicians on that day. Overall definitely not worth the price point.
Dinorath P Casanova: The GM reached out and we had a good conversation about what had happened. I really appreciate her concerns and hopefully next time we visit will better.--Terrible experience today. Poor and very slow service. Waited over 10 min to be greeted by the server, waited 15min to get our drinks, another 40min to get our main dish which weren't 100% right as the eggs were all overcooked, and waites another 20min to get our dessert and when it was dropped it wasn't even what we had ordered. We only had a bottle of bubbles to share and weren't able to get more drinks as the server was nowhere to been seen. Tried to talk to a manager and didn't seem to care much.Overall it was a very bad experience.
Ken Tsang: Great vibe at this place above Water Street Cafe. The food isn't bad either. I believe they share the same menu, the only difference is the live music on the 2nd Floor
Holly Gibson: Really disappointing. Came for brunch and the mains (eggs and waffles) took over an hour. When they arrived the eggs were all overcooked. Service was very slow too. Additionally there was a live jazz band playing and the microphone was turned up so loud that it created a really unpleasant experience in such a small space. When telling management about the issues they were dismissive. Won’t be coming back.
jennifer salazar: Came here for Dine Out Vancouver and i would definitely recommend! The wait between each meal was pretty long because they were so busy but worth the wait! The waffles were thick and rich and the gnocchi was so flavorful and delicious. For dessert I’d recommend the sorbet over the tiramisu but that was tasty too! Great experience.
Vicki Van der Merwe: The well prepared dishes at 2nd room are completed with the live music from Wildwoodfire. Ingredible band. Loved their music.
Ankesh Dhingra: Terrible service, Mediocre Food. The only redeeming factor was the live music.
Jonathan Schulz: had a great night with Re-Vibe live and good food
Lorena Gonzalez: Nice music and good costumer service 👌 👍
Vanessa Davidson: We went to see Just Prince at the 2nd Floor of the Water St. Cafe. The venue had great acoustics and the food was outstanding! An enjoyable evening!
Laura Beaton: Always love the night entertainment here at 2nd floor water Street cafe. Service is efficient and nice and quick. Food is pricey but big portions so you feel satisfied.
Richard J. Sheehan: Great venue.. food.. staff..
J ason: Same as the water Street Cafe
daniel najera: Great atmosphere and incredible food! Had some good wine while enjoying delightful live music. The pasta is a must try!
Monica Mahser: We had dinner for a friends birthday tonight at the 2nd floor and it was amazing! Staff is super friendly, music was great and our gnocchis were astounding! Highly recommend if you want a beautiful night out in Gastown.
