Kensington Judo Club: what do users think?
Claudio Lira Meirelles
Claudio Lira Meirelles: Very friendly, my son love
mind kontrol
mind kontrol: This gym offers a fun and competitive atmosphere for practicing judo and Jiu-Jitsu. Whether you're a veteran of the sport or just starting your journey, Kensington has you covered! Highly recommended!
Sony Sahota
Sony Sahota: I’ve been training and volunteering at this dojo for 8 years. I can honestly say this is not just a judo club but a positive culture of community and support. Everyone is welcome: beginners and advanced.Kensington Judo is unique since it’s possibly the only dojo in the province to have classes virtually everyday both daytime and evening. With so many programs (kids, adults, competitors, groundwork, private lessons, women’s self defence) it’s easy to find what you are looking for.I’ve noticed the goals of the staff is not only to help newcomers on their judo journey, or advance competitive athletes, or produce excellent coaches; but to take the philosophy of judo off the mats and carry it with you in your daily life.Do yourself a favour and stop in for a chat.
Enrique M.
Enrique M.: My daughter really loves the FUNdamental class! The teacher is great with kids!
Sophie De Champlain
Sophie De Champlain: Very welcoming! Seems like a great place for all levels.
Sam Roberts
Sam Roberts: I used to practice Judo in my teens and 20s, and now my daughters are practicing here. They love it. The instructors are fun and encouraging, and have a good mix of technical instruction and Judo variations of popular games. I like that they are having fun, and learning how to roll, tumble, and wrestle around.
Petra F
Petra F: great place to train Judo, excellent instructors
Donal Finn
Donal Finn: Truly awesome in every way a Dojo can be....and I want it to stay that way, so if you're a tool, please go train elsewhere.
Ray Goerke
Ray Goerke: Very friendly, chill vibe with high quality training and instruction for adults.
Kern Chiu
Kern Chiu: My kids really enjoy this judo club. Smaller and intimate...more focussed training. Darcy, Andre and Dave are great instructors and make it fun that my kids look forward to judo night every week. My kids had done tae kwon do before but didn’t enjoy it with all the testing..so a friend told us to let them try judo as it teaches many life skills such as break falling, confidence and respect. Financially it’s also a very affordable activity for the kids.
Nicole Collard
Nicole Collard: Great coaches! They have an excellent coaching style and are great with the kids. My son has been attending the dojo since October 2018 and loves it! I’ve been impressed with the quality of instruction.
Diesel Diet
Diesel Diet: Awesome dojo!!! I had summer off last year and so I had the opportunity to train with these guys. Everyone is friendly and helpful but most importantly, their training style is safe, realistic and very technical.I only wish they had morning classes as well.
ali bordbar
ali bordbar: Amazing dojo to train at!

jak fil: After doing a fair amount of research and head-scratching, I chose Budo school as my introduction to jiu-jitsu and I definitely made the right choice. All of the instructors and members are top-notch and very personable guys and girls.I highly recommend Budo as a starting point for anyone considering embarking on the jiu-jitsu journey.Jake F

Tracy Spring
Tracy Spring: My son started here after a traumatic event and has gained confidence and skills in a short amount of time. Scott has been an amazing teacher and support and we are very grateful to him and the other staff.
Shion Gin
Shion Gin: A gem of a gym - amazing gym culture that fosters a friendly, and welcoming environment along with a great team of people. Scott Boudreau is a top class instructor who also actively competes internationally and have multiple golds under his belt. I especially enjoy his open-minded, creative and practical approach to teaching, as I find that quite uncommon in most bjj gyms. This is a great place to start your bjj journey, pick up where you left of, or if you want to compete at a higher level. Budo is a rare find for sure. Highly recommend!
Boris Kolev
Boris Kolev: I've started my BJJ journey at Budo nearly 2.5 years ago. The environment is extremely friendly and open. It's a great place for beginners as well as high level competitors. The main coach Scott is a world class competitor himself and continues to crush it year after year 💪. Highly recommend this place! OSS
Kyrylo “Kayden” Ukr

Emily Kaing
Emily Kaing: This place is fantastic! Head coach Scott and the team of instructors move at a pace that makes anyone, beginner or advanced, feel like they are learning something new. Thanks Budo! I'll be back!
Aaron Peat
Aaron Peat: I've been training at Budo for a few months now. Budo has given me an opportunity to explore martial arts in a fun environment. It has improved my physical fitness, and increased my confidence when dealing with difficult people on the street. The students and instructors are friendly, and make you feel included during training. You will be exposed to live rolling here, where you test your skills against others, but the atmosphere at the school makes it safe for less fit hobbyists and challenging for serious competitors.
O Ruppel
O Ruppel: After trying several other BJJ schools I am grateful to have found Budo. The instructors are excellent; they break complex moves down into manageable steps so us beginners can understand. They are also attentive, answering questions and watching us practice to ensure we are doing the techniques properly. On top of the excellent instructors, the whole Budo team is extremely welcoming. I feel lucky to have found a place where I am this excited to attend each class.
AJ B
AJ B: Real amazing place to learn jiu Jitsu in a safe environment. Good instructor(s) that take a pragmatic and methodical approach. Training partners that are all trying to improve, and help each other improve in a safe and controlled way.
mind kontrol
mind kontrol: Awesome team to train with here! Whether you're sharpening your skills or just beginning your journey into the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Budo offers a fun and competitive atmosphere to train in, and an individualized focus to help you find your game! The new location is great, if you haven't checked it out, you really should!
Sami Ghali
Sami Ghali: My 8 years old daughter has been training at Budo Jiu-Jitsu Team for over a year. Classes are given by the master itself Scott Boudreau and are very well thought and taught. L. is getting better, stronger, more technical every month. It is a great feeling to see these kids evolve together lead by such a great master.
Scott Donnelly
Scott Donnelly: Budo Jiujitsu Team offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Not only do you get world class champion level training, Scott the head coach also understands everyone’s journey is different and respects the process individuals wish to choose. I will always choose Budo when in Vancouver.
Coby Derban
Coby Derban: Great place, great coach, great vibe. Būdo is, somehow, easygoing enough to be enjoyable while intense enough to be meaningful. A solid gym and a stellar place to bring your BJJ questions. Highly recommended.
Manuela Vieira
Manuela Vieira: BUDō is a fresh and well-maintained space with clean, simple aesthetics where you can focus on training on the mats without visual clutter. It is a beautiful gym, but more importantly, it is a welcoming environment with friendly and encouraging students. The instructors are professional, respectful and supportive of your lifelong learning in the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. BUDō Jiu-Jitsu Team is definitely worth a visit! Once you try out a class, you will be hooked!
Sharen Leung
Sharen Leung: Epic first visit at Budo Vancouver! Awesome all-around! Very nice simple, zen-like decor, new mats, and best of all, nice, fun and welcoming juijitsu crew there. Thank you Budo Vancouver!!- Looking forward to coming back!!
SWOO 1987
SWOO 1987: This place is awesome! The instructors are very nice people too. This is the best place to learn martial arts and kungfu or karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jutsus.

Vancouver Martial Arts: what do users think?
Jess Bobby
Jess Bobby: Had to put in my info just to see the class schedule and since then, have been hit with a multipronged attack of text msgs, emails every 2 days, and phone calls. I was interested before, but not anymore...it feels too desperate. And yes, i know the text msgs and emails are automated...but it just creates more work for ppl to actively unsubscribe.
Anne CZ
Anne CZ: I only got as far as inquiring about this place so my review is solely based off this experience. I submitted a request through their website to get info about their programs. Shortly after submitting the inquiry request I received both an email and a text message from the instructor Alan. He was quite prompt with his responses and suggested that I drop by the facility to get a tour of the place and more information then. He was also accommodating as his suggested times didn't work for me and he was able to suggest alternate times that worked around my schedule. During this time of figuring out what times would work, I received another email from Vancouver Martial Arts in response to my inquiry. I was a little confused as to why I also received this email but I shrugged it off thinking that maybe it was an automated email that gets sent out to those who inquire from their website. Unfortunately, I ended up changing my mind as I had decided to go ahead with another facility (decided I wanted to do something other than Taekwondo) prior to the tour we scheduled. I gave Alan a heads up that I had changed my mind and he was appreciative of me letting him know. Probably a week after, I received a call from Vancouver Martial Arts asking if I had time to talk - I'm assuming about the programs they offer and I let them know I had went with another facility. I was a little confused as to why I received this call but I have a feeling that there is a lack in communication between the instructor and the people who manage inquiries from the website. I also think that it would be nice for the name of this place to include Taekwondo in it as I was under the assumption that this place offered a variety of martial arts.
Tania Perzoff
Tania Perzoff: My son enjoys his classes with Master Alan and the environment is supportive and inclusive. The bonus is the leadership training students receive in addition to physical fitness. Great, well-rounded approach to teaching Taekwondo.
ada
ada: Eh, not that good tbh. It's worse quality than tkd u could at a community centre.EDIT:If I was able, I would give this dojo 0 stars!Alan is unprofessional - he gives attitude (sighing after helping students that he dislikes) and uses the lower belts as instructors. What I mean by LOWER BELTS, he uses the second to third (so yellow belts to orange belts) least experienced belts. Also, he does not pay the instructors, which is completely unethical! In addition to what was mentioned above, he expects you to learn poomsaes/patterns, kicks, and weapons without teaching you. He gives off an "If you don't learn this, it's not my fault but yours" attitude. Like how dare that I don't know it!He gets mad at you for not coming to ONE teaching day and being late. He expects you to explain why you didn't come. He says he 'understands', but he doesn't.He is the worst instructor in the place. The higher belts (red-black to any of the black belts) are amazing as they can actually teach and their enthusiasm is evident. It completely frustrates me how I can't give 0/5 stars. Please, go to a different dojo.
Lynn Wee
Lynn Wee: The moment our daughter showed interest in Taekwondo, we looked online and found this place. We had an introduction meeting with Master Alan and he was detailed and experienced based on the number of awards he has received. It has been almost 3 months and my daughter has received her yellow belt and leadership badge. She has also become more focused and listens better. It has also built confidence in her.Master Alan takes note of his students improvements and where needs improving. He treats them as students, our future and not just clients. We as parents love everything about it and definitely would recommend Vancouver Martial Arts to anyone and everyone.
Rylie Chew
Rylie Chew: I have been going to Vancouver Martial Arts for about 9 years now. I can say that Vancouver Martial Arts teaches more than just punching and kicking. It teaches you leadership, respect, and gives you self confidence. Master Alan has a lot patience, especially when it comes to the younger students. I don’t think my life would be the same without Vancouver Martial Arts!
The a & b Sandhu
The a & b Sandhu: Both of my young sons (6 & 4) attend the youth classes here and I feel fortunate to have discovered such an incredible school close to home. Master Azizi is a remarkable teacher of Martial Arts, instilling life lessons of respect, dignity, discipline & perseverance through pearls of wisdom. His classes are highly organized and his level of firm patience with children offers a level of structure all youth require in order to prosper on their journey through life. It’s wonderful to witness my boys experiencing something transformational that I wish I had when I was their age. I highly recommend to all!
Rick Dhanda
Rick Dhanda: I have been attending VMA for the majority of my life now, since the day my mother drove me to the school and signed me up. Since then, I've grown a tremendous appreciation for the martial arts and the way VMA teaches and inspires students. I received my black belt 13 years ago and haven't even considered stopping since. Martial arts is a lifestyle as much as a sport and Dragon Temple is a 5 star school to empower students. VMA is one of the fixtures of my life and I can actually feel the difference from taking even a week's break. In my over 20 years of being a student, I have seen my fellow attendees get healthier, happier, and more equipped to deal with the rigours of adult life. I cannot recommend this school and practice enough.
Dominic Chiu
Dominic Chiu: Master Azizi has a tremendous talent for teaching and bringing out the best in his students. His professionalism and passion for martial arts is what inspires others. From him I have learned martial arts not only as a sport but also as a way of life. The potential he sees in his students is clear and he uses that vision to help them become leaders. He easily and accurately identifies what his students need to improve on and effectively communicates this to them to become better. His discipline and dedication to martial arts is what students can learn from him. Thank you for all that you do and for all that you have taught me.
Princes May Bartido
Princes May Bartido: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueBest place to bring your kids! Master Alan is very welcoming and so professional. Semiha Bahar
Semiha Bahar: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityVMA is a great place to discover the capability of your body.Master Alan provides a welcoming environment for everyone who is interested in martial arts. First time in my life, I am exercising regularly. Contrary to every other attempts to include physical activity, this time, it is not boring.
Shreya K
Shreya K: Vancouver Martial Arts is a place where leaders are born and it is exemplified in both words and action. Taekwondo is world consisting of so much more than just kicking and punching, and I was able to realize that at VMA. Some aspects such as self-respect, perseverance, and leadership qualities are equally valuable as the physical techniques you get to develop here. I would definitely recommend VMA to anyone looking to send their kids or learn taekwondo for themselves, as there is no age limit for partaking in this magnificent art of life.
CDN Mountain Rider
CDN Mountain Rider: Vancouver Martial Arts is a school that inspires you to become a master of you own body’s capability. Master Alan's teaching extends beyond just the class itself. His school and his focus on developing one’s self to the maximum of their potential quickly translates to all aspects of your life. I 100% recommend VMA to all who want to challenge their body’s ability, and personal capacity to grow into more than you are today. The Cook Family

D0D0BIRDIE XD
D0D0BIRDIE XD: I attended Vancouver Martial Arts from 2012 to late 2019, and after around seven years of consistent training and practice, I can say that my overall experience was an overwhelming positive one. The instructors are all very kind and cared deeply about my success the and advancement of my martial art abilities, whilst my fellow students became some of my closest friends. Vancouver Martial Arts not only kept me fit, but in the process, I also learned valuable life lessons and the importance of self discipline. Greatest Martial Arts studio ever!
Ritchie Le
Ritchie Le: 2 words to describe it? Second home. a place where I was able to relax and just practice the art of martial arts. A very comfortable environment and a great community to be surrounded by. Even after absence, they still care about you and are always welcome back. Not only did I learn Martial arts, I learnt how to better myself in life and others around me.

Daehan Choi: A clean dojo + Gracie University curriculum + certified instructors = NVBJJ. I visited many BJJ dojos before choosing NVBJJ. I love the focus on self-defence rather than sport. Also the well defined curriculum + online access to Gracie University makes the learning process much more manageable for beginners like me. Marc and Ray are not only great practitioners of the art but also especially gifted teachers (this applies to all instructors here but I mainly interact with the two due to my schedule). An optimal learning environment with lots of fun.

They are so nice, and when we practice together we help each other learn new things. I love the atmosphere. I also like the promotion system of Gracie Jiujitsu because I can see my progression with the card, and it motivates me a lot! Thanks to this place, I enjoy my life with full of happiness. Marcus Soares Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy: what do users think?
Peter Huddleston
Peter Huddleston: Dropped in here for work. Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place, got to roll with everyone is well which is important to me as a visitor. The details the instructor provided for myself personally were also great. My training partner during the technique section was also excellent. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Hiro Amano
Hiro Amano: While Marcus’s gym is the only BJJ gym that I have been part of, I know it is everything that I could want or need from a gym.Instruction from Marcus is concise, and his style is clear. He allows us to learn by doing, and comes to correct us as needed. He is always there to answer any questions too.Aside from learning proper techniques, the conditioning classes have kept me in great shape. The team is friendly & helpful regardless of what your intentions are. Some come to train to compete, and others for health & fitness. For many people it’s their home away from home.Children gravitate towards Marcus, he has a way with them, and it’s always amazing to see them train before the adults’ class.Aside from that, I believe it’s the cleanest gym that I’ve been part of!
Felix J. Cabanela
Felix J. Cabanela: Marcus and his team create an environment that makes you feel like family. The classes are challenging, but you always leave more alive and stronger than you were coming in. Thank you Marcus and team!
Herman V
Herman V: I joined a month ago, and they have exceeded my expectations. The instruction and people are top-notch, and I couldn't recommend them more. Marcus is also an amazing person.
Tom Amery
Tom Amery: I've really enjoyed the first few months at Marcus Soares Jiu Jitsu Academy. The quality of coaching is amazing, with well thought out classes. I had no prior experience of Jiu Jitsu and felt welcome right away.
Scott Rochon
Scott Rochon: This gym has exceeded my expectations. I've never trained at any other gyms, and that's something I should do to get another perspective, but Marcus Soares' Vancouver gym is great. Everyone I've met there, whether instructors or students, has been super welcoming and open to training with a newbie. That's been consistent in every class I've gone too. The gym is always pretty clean even when it is busy and there are multiple classes in a day. Marcus and Dana always do good to tidy up before the next class. I don't regret joining this gym. I gave it only 4 stars here because when I first joined a few months ago, they didn't seem to have any specific curriculum for new people who had never trained jiu-jitsu before. Everyone was learning the same techniques from Marcus. Fortunately, they're changing that now since they have started teaching the fundamental positions weekly, cycling through a new one each week. I'm happy they're adapting the programming to have something for all levels!
Peter
Peter: Been practicing since before the pandemic. The folks I train with as well as the instruction is top notch. Marcus is approachable and highly knowledgeable. His casual interactions belie the strict adherence to the spirit and fundamentals of his craft. He loves what he is doing, and it shows. The other senior belts are a chip off the block, ready to correct or help me improve with positive feedback. My main focus is to learn self defense in concert with improved physicality. I feel welcomed and am treated the same as more talented students.
Erik Killian MB
Erik Killian MB: I've been training at the Marcus Soares downtown location for a little under a year now, and it's made a huge difference in my life. I'm in better shape than I've ever been, and generally happier & less stressed in all areas of my life.Marcus & all of his coaches are extremely knowledgeable, and fantastic instructors. The environment is always friendly & I found it very welcoming from the first day I started training there. It's a wonderful place to train, and every time I leave I'm already looking forward to the next time I'll come back!
Martha Garcia
Martha Garcia: I'm very happy I joined Marcus' gym. Here I'm reaching my weight loss and fitness goals. I find the environment very friendly, and the gym well kept. BJJ is very fun and empowering, and I 100% recommend it to anyone curious!
andres delgado
andres delgado: BJJ gym with legendary Carlson Gracie lineage.GM Marcus Soares (only red belt in Canada) has created a friendly, inclusive, ego-less place to train legitimate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If you are interested in getting in shape, learning self-defense, making new friends or all of the above I strongly recommend you stop by for a trial. You will not regret it.
Daniel de la Riva
Daniel de la Riva: Amazing gym with an amazing master ( one of the first black belts of the legend Carlson Gracie with the pure jiu jitsu style )
Maxwell Lepa
Maxwell Lepa: I’m attended for about 6 classes before the pandemic lock down.Marcus is such a good guy.Very down to earth. Humble. Empathetic. I attended classesOn Thursday evenings, which Marcus did not teach. There was a brown belt who taught our classes. I didn’t feel he was suitable as a coach as his mentality was, in my opinion, counter productive in terms of elevating students and teaching them new skills. He did have some positive coaching abilities but not the most important tyoe.
Andrew Korvin
Andrew Korvin: Marcus is a great teacher, and has unmatched experience. Great environment to train and learn - Facility is great very supportive and friendly school, family atmosphere :)

Phil Kidd: Good bunch of people, very welcoming and laid back. Drop in fee is a bit steep considering there's no washrooms or showers.
Raman Vasilevich
Raman Vasilevich: Best BJJ school in Vancouver. For sure :)
Dustin Brett
Dustin Brett: I really enjoy the classes and the expertise that Marcus brings to things. It has taken me some time to get familiar with the structure of the different classes but everyone has been super nice and I have fun every class. Be prepared to get some bruises, it's all part of the fun. I am still very much learning but I have started going to classes regularly and I enjoy what it brings to my life. Thanks Marcus and team!
Aidan Tayler
Aidan Tayler: Fantastic teacher who provides clear and detailed instruction. The atmosphere is also very friendly.

Pacific Top Team Vancity: what do users think?
Laatya t
Laatya t: I trained here for 2 years when I first moved to Vancouver. They have excellent coaches from fundamental class to advance class in BJJ. Would definitely recommend this gym to a friend!
Michael H
Michael H: Friendly service.
Alejandro Dumas
Alejandro Dumas: Great place. Highly recommend.
Rob Kowalczyk
Rob Kowalczyk: Awesome training !!! I been training on and off for around 20 years now. As you can imagine during this time, I have been to many schools and academies. PTT Vancity is my favorite one, of them all. The facility is clean, and well located. Easily accessible by public transportation. The instructors are friendly, informative, and show enthusiasm to teach. The general atmosphere here is very relaxed and fun. The sizes of the classes in my personal opinion, are ideal. Enough people to have a variety of training partners, but not too big where the instructors do not check your technique into detail. Everyone here gets the same respect, and attention, professional, or beginner alike. I highly recommend.
Valerii Yakubovych
Valerii Yakubovych: Very friendly people. Everybody works carefully. Very good place for safe and productive training.
Mikayla Wong
Mikayla Wong: Had an amazing first BJJ class at PTT. As a total newbie to the sport, they made me feel very welcome. Gym is super clean and all the instructors and students were very kind in showing me the ropes. Gary even took extra time to show me more key fundamentals after class, which was unexpected and very much appreciated. Looking forward to coming here, and 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a chill, good vibes gym.
Tuyen Lieu
Tuyen Lieu: The Muay Thai classes are always great. Instructor is knowledgeable and cool. Friendly training partners and a good vibe to get some sweat. Recommended to anyone who is looking for a Muay Thai gym
Ali Hakam
Ali Hakam: Visited for an open mat. Very friendly community as well as awesome technical rolls!
Andrew Uyeno
Andrew Uyeno: A great and friendly place to train even for just a drop in session.
Hunter Dillon
Hunter Dillon: Been to a few jiu jitsu gyms, PTT was by far the best. Good training partners, constructive instructors and a wide variety of classes to choose from.
Jack Chi
Jack Chi: Dropped in here for open mat one day. Good vibes, good training partners that won’t beat up beginners for no reason.
Stefano Papa
Stefano Papa: I have trained at many of the local gyms in the North Burnaby area and PTT Vancity really stands out among them. The gym has a well equipped free weight area as well two private showers. It is very family oriented, with classes for children from ages 4 and up. There is a bleacher area for parents or spectators to observe classes and parents are welcome to use the weight area while their kid(s) train. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable in both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; whether you are looking to compete, get fit, or casually learn self defense, this gym can deliver. Above all, the gym has a vibe that radiates positivity and provides a feeling of community for its patrons. There is also a massage area and an RMT on site. Not sure what more you are looking for in a gym, but I would highly recommend this one.
Ariel Greenblat
Ariel Greenblat: This is the best place ever!
S Duncan
S Duncan: Amazing coaches and training partners. Was there five years then I moved. If you’re looking for quality coaching hit em up!

Eric M
Eric M: I've been training at this gym for about 5 years. The instructors are passionate and dedicated to the growth of their students. Whether it's learning a martial art or getting in shape, this is the place to go.
10ske
10ske: I was always looking for great place for my daughter to pick up where she left off from quitting Jiujitsu for Competitive Swimming. My friend told me about how great the PTT teachers/coaches are.. and I had her try out the free week. I was impressed by the facilities and my daughter learned a lot in just a few days. I signed her up and now she's learning Muay Thai and Jiujitsu.Best teacher/coaches/sensei's here, you can really see the amount of enthusiasm and skill they all have while teaching the kids and adults. No brainer go try it out!
Gerald S
Gerald S: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy kids attend the Muay Thai and JiuJitsu classes. The instructors are absolute professionals who care for the welfare and the development of the kids. Its been awesome watching my boys improve and gain confidence while having fun.
J V
J V: Terrific group of people. There's no one else I would rather pay to beat me up every week.Coaches are all knowledgeable, have a great sense of humor, are welcoming, and break things down in easy-to-understand steps. Team and training partners are friendly and always willing to help out. Also has a weights area so you can get jacked.
Miles Maclean
Miles Maclean: I've been very happy in my time at PTT VanCity. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience on the mats that can rival any school. The atmosphere that has been created is welcoming, fun and focused on helping everyone from beginner to advanced learn. There are a variety of class types and times as well as a workout area. If you're looking for a place to learn BJJ and/or Muay Thai you can't do much better that PTT VanCity.

Doc Sabre
Doc Sabre: Excellent group here and everyone can train at their own level! Combat effective techniques, and great instructors!
David L
David L: Before coming here, I’ve tried other styles and I like this system the best. Everything you learn here is self defence based. No forms or katas, just practical techniques you can apply effectively in everyday situations. Training and focus here is on application. If you like what you see in ufc or mma, you’ll like it here, except what you learn here is for street application! Great place to train and everyone here is friendly and helpful.
Deniz Bilgin
Deniz Bilgin: Women's Self Defense class (divided into 3 parts) is thought by Terry. He will teach you how to get out of arm grabs, chokes and hair pulls. You will learn about the weak spots of human anatomy along with basic attacks like punches, kicks, and how to break arms.I found a Groupon coupon, and paid $31 for the whole thing. Classes are on the first Saturday of the month, and they last two hours each. I took level 2 and 3 on the same day, but I recommend you spread it into three months as you need to let the information sink in. Terry will email you a document listing all the moves so you can practise them in between classes.
