Vancouver Sewing Classes: what do users think?
Kyle Archibald: If you're looking to learn how to sew, not make a reversible bag, not sit in a class with 10 people waiting for your turn to ask a question. Vancouver Sewing Classes is A+1 on 1 clearly communicated instruction, all the skills to sew literally anything & you leave with some pieces that you never thought you'd be sewing right out of the gate.I can't wait to go back and learn more
MIKAELA CRISOLOGO: Class was insightful, knowledgeable and on point on learning objectives. Entire atmosphere was laid-back and friendly; Chris and Stanley are great instructors.
Emeraude Bonard: I received a fine education in the precise-detailing of couture, and I am satisfied with the results as a debutante.
Ariel Pineda: It was a pleasure to meet Chris and Stan I learned sewing skills and knowledge of tailoring techniques. I told Chris I have zero experience on sewing. They taught me how to use sewing equipment and the understanding of garment construction and pattern making skills. I learned more than the basic on sewing, they taught me the sewing foundations. Chris and Stan are both amazing they are more than 5 stars to me. Thank you Chris and Stan I had a great time learning sewing.
Tone Batt: Stanley and Chris at VSC:Impeccable Service.Outstanding delivery of content. One on one teachings with gentle supervision.Much value for money. For the Novice, it is positivley challenging...for the knower, I suspect....priceless :)What a ride; for my ego, my boundaries, but most of all: my wish to make and create 3Wow you guys, you Rock !!!Thank you _/|_Tone
TJ .A: Vancouver sewing classes is a school with great knowledge. I’ve learned all the industrial sewing techniques that is required for the fashion industry. Great instructors one on one time to has a vision all learning experience.. highly recommend to anyone wanting to be a fashion designer.
Fereshteh Shojaei: I just had my first session with Chris today; I’m very satisfied with the choice I made coming to this class, they teach you everything you need to know and no wasting time, if you are looking to learn , this is definitely the right place. In just one session I learned so much( and keep in mind I took one of the basic courses yet it is just very complete ) They teach you each and every technique. I’m looking forward to learn more.
clarissa ty: I took the beginner sewing class with Chris and Stanley they were amazing. The program is very hands on and you learn how to do stitches, hems, zipper, pockets and many more! Honestly, I cant thank them enough on the things that I learned and I enjoyed every single class I had with both of them. They are very passionate, knowledgeable, friendly, patient and one of a kind! So, if you are interested to learn how to sew. Take one of the programs they offer and you will be surprised on the amount of knowledge and confidence you will get after the program.
Fiona Wong: I completed the Sewing Techniques Short Program and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to sew either professionally or as a hobby! I started with no experience and was provided with everything I needed – from a sewing machine, to materials/tools, and the bestest instructors in Stenly and Chris – to successfully complete 4 practice and 2 final garments. Stenly was my primary instructor and he was patient, personable and encouraging throughout. The program was a great experience!
Bhakti Purandare: I am an IT professional having a keen interest in the fashion industry. But I always wondered where and how I would start from to understand the potentials of my interest. I started with the basic Sewing classes at VSC and it turned out to be a great entry point because in 6 classes I made 4 samples along with 1 skirt and 1 shirt for myself. I will recommend VSC for many reasons like you get one-on-one training, you make 6 garments in 6 classes, there is flexibility in time, and last but not least my instructors Stanely and Chris. They both are very humble and perfectionists, they teach you professional skills for sewing garments.
Linda Santoso: I had a wonderful first class experience with Stanley and Chris. The class is 1 on 1 , so you get all the attention you need to improve on your weaknesses. I had zero experience in sewing and now at least i know a little bit about it. You get one sewing machine to start with the class so that you could practice at home, and that was also a plus++. In addition, I was pretty slow but they made sure I could still get my project done by adding extra classes. I am definitely looking forward to take next classes with them, can't wait to meet wonderful people like them!
Dami H: I had inherited an old sewing machine and wanted to learn how to use it properly. I searched for various sewing classes and stumbled upon Vancouver Sewing Classes. I was a bit overwhelmed and excited with the various classes VSC had to offer that I didn't know where to begin. So I called and talked to Chris. I explained to him what I wanted to learn and he recommended I take the Professional Sewing Techniques Short Program. This program consists of six 3 hours classes that focus on the basic sewing techniques such as stitches & hems, seams, pockets & invisible zippers, sleeve plackets, cuffs and collars, waistbands, buttonholes, buttons, and closures. As a bonus for signing up for this program, I received a brand new sewing machine in the first class and Chris went over every single component of the machine and taught me how to use it and maintain it for the homework assignments. Yes, there will be homework after every class. Don't fret, they are fun homework. You'll receive extra fabric to practice the skills you learned during class, which inturn will help you on your garment-making project. I completed two garments by the end of the program that covered every sewing technique taught. The best thing about it is you'll get to wear the garments! I had an amazing experience learning from both Chris and Stenly. They are patient, knowledgeable, and a trove of industry wisdom. You can ask them anything about the fashion industry and they will have an answer for you. If you are searching for a sewing class, program or just want to learn how to sew, give VSC a call and talk to Chris, he will guide you to your sewing journey. Forget about the one day workshop or group classes, at VSC you'll get one-on-one lessons from either Chris or Stenly and you will have an unbelievable time! This program was exactly what I was looking for and more. Thank you Chris and Stenly and I look forward taking more classes with both of you.
Patricia V: I have been sewing for most of my life, but never learned how to professionally craft clothing. I had tried taking college sewing programs in the past, but was always confused and did not learn the basic principles that I needed to succeed.Chris and Stenly were enthusiastic and kind from the moment I walked into my first class. Not only did I learn basic sewing techniques, I was able to bring in items that I wanted to create, and learn how to master them properly.Chris and Stenly’s enthusiasm and encouragement gave me the confidence and knowledge that I needed. I particularly found the one on one instruction worked well for me.The Vancouver sewing school is a very special place, where you will learn and be encouraged to succeed.I am already planning on signing up for another course. This is my new happy place. My only regret is that I didn’t study with them sooner.
Daryl C. Hyun: I had been wanting to learn sewing for several ideas I accumulated over time. When I tried to learn from makerspaces, but it was super hassle to sign up for a membership, and availability of classes is not good. Vancouver sewing classes runs like a studio where a student gets a full access to all kinds of machines and learning experiences. Very hands-on experiential learning with homework as well. Chris and Stanley are very kind and eager to share their skills, tips and knowhows. Also, the facility is very nice that a student gets to learn how to use industry sewing machine & steam iron, home sewing machine, serger, large table, etc. and complimentary snacks and water. My etude is on insta @guineapigmall :) Highly recommend to those who wanna learn sewing and making garment!!
Sanoe Lubensky: When I came across Chris and his sewing programs, I was immediately willing to try because of all the positive reviews. I’m happy to say that the reviews are no joke. After signing up for the short program, I was taught by two of the best sewing instructors, Chris and Stenly :) I learned so much from the short program in such an incredibly fast time, and I got to take home a new sewing machine. After completing the short program, I signed up for the womenswear long program, and it’s been the best decision ever; it is crazy (in a good way) how much I’m learning in each class. Chris is the best teacher; he is teaching me to be so detailed and precise with my sewing. I have gone from 0 knowledge of sewing to a very proficient sewer within just a few months. I’m also even more pleased because with the long program, I got to take home a new industrial sewing machine, a new full body-form, a serger, a cover stitcher, a factory grade ironing board, and a factory grade steam iron. Take home and keep :) The program is so helpful, and both Chris and Stenly are truly dedicated to helping their students be the best! And they have become lifelong friends. I have so many binders full of samples, so many sewing tools, and so much knowledge about fashion design. The program is truly 5 stars and better than anything you’ll be able to find anywhere. Thank you Chris and Stenly for being the best! :) I will truly miss going to class when my program is over.
Z Ali: Just completely “wowed” by my experience at VSC and with Chris and Stenly! You guys are absolutely amazing. Your passion for the craft comes through in your lessons. I searched for months before I found your school and I am so happy I did! The way you design your lessons and your teaching skills surpassed all my expectations! Thank you! Looking forward to taking more classes over the coming year.
chan mavis lok yiu: Its a incredible experience. They are both good teachers which really teach you useful sewing skills. They provide different programs and help with your assignments.Very patient and friendly,Best place ever
Z T: What on earth would possess someone to pay $1k for a short sewing program and drive over 1000km round trip (5 hours each way), PER CLASS, to do it? Well, we did it. Because this is a unique program. Nothing remotely close to this exists in our own region. Because the instructors are excellent. Because my teen took their portfolio home to my mom, who has been sewing for years, and she gasped because the quality was better than anything my mom could do. Because this has been the only time I can remember where my teen will actually sit and do something for 3 hours at a time, not only without complaining, but walking away from each session encouraged and inspired. Even when mistakes were made and things had to be redone. If you break the cost down per hour, it’s similar to the cost of group horseback riding lessons in the lower mainland. Only this experience is 1:1, they send you home with a sewing machine and supplies worth hundreds of dollars, and you have a very useful lifelong skill set. Once you master the basics you can customize the classes to your specific interests, too. For us, that means corsetry is next.We are temporarily recuperating from the frequent long distance drives and look forward to continuing. Thank you guys for such an awesome (and useful) experience! 🙏
Addie Tinholt: I took the 6 session intro to sewing classes and loved it. Very in-depth, but also understandable and easy to grasp. Chris and Stenly are great instructors, not only thorough, but patient and inspiring. I can’t wait for my next course with them.
Dexter Chaisson: Learning with Chris and Stanley was a great experience. All the programs are very hands on and you get working on a project right away. They have great knowledge of the industry and the 1 on 1 aspect makes it easy to learn. Definitely check them out!
Karen Russell-Barley: I just completed the beginner short sewing program and my sewing skills have improved greatly. I'm kicking myself for not taking this class years ago. Although I have been able to sew clothes for myself I have spent years avoiding anything difficult. I now feel more confident knowing I can sew in a precise manner. Chris and Stanley were a pleasure to learn from. I liked that Chris has been in the industry for years and is a wealth of knowledge. The classes were very organised, structured and professional. There was flexibility in the day and time I could take my classes and that worked well with my schedule.

Oakridge Tailors: what do users think?
Angela P: All I can say is HOLY SMOKES the seamstress works magic!! I brought a lopsided and horribly made Indian bridal shirt that my in-laws bought for me. The seamstress completely transformed it into a luxurious top. Before, the shirt was lopsided in the front and the hem was completely uneven in the front and back. She had to remove the front panels, take in the sides and hem the bottom. I wish I took a before and after photo, because the transformation is amazing. The price she charged was totally fair and reasonable too. I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH HER WORK!! I CAN’T RECOMMEND THIS SEAMSTRESS ENOUGH!
Danielle Palmer: Amazing customer service and expert tailoring service. I bring them everything from shirts to pants to gowns and they’ve done an excellent job every time!
G: Best tailor I was able to find in Vancouver. Oakridge Tailors will always have my business. I've altered and repaired pants, altered coat sleeves with buttons, sport coats, etc. The attention to detail is on point and everything comes out above my expectations. It's a breath of fresh air to see your clothes really cared for.Services:Alterations,Men's clothing alterations,Cuffs alterations,Waist adjustments,Clothing repairs
Rita Museme: Personable and really sweet with a Doug a must for alterations.
Sandy (Sandshark): They have done it all. Have had entire suits reshaped and altered. Pants recut. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have used many tailors in the past. I won't go anywhere else now.Services:General repairs,Women's clothing alterations,Pants alterations,Waist adjustments
Curtis Wong: Brought a varsity jacket in that was a size too big I bought from Japan. The couple that runs the business took the time to listen to my request with the jacket and offered advice on the best outcome for the alterations. The jacket came out perfect. I really appreciate their professionalism, friendliness, and skill set. Would go to them for any future alterations for pricier items and will recommend them to friends.Services:Alterations,Men's clothing alterations,Coat jacket alterations
David Jardine: Amazing customer service. Friendly and does fantastic work. Taking all of my alterations here! Definitely recommend :)
Alexander Sutton: If you need a tailor, this is the best place. Been taking my stuff here for years.
Patricia: Been here a few times and am always happy with the consistent and honest service! They have hemmed three of my legging pants and also a quite expensive denim jacket (that I was afraid of having altered) that was too long for me. For my jacket, William also gave his honest opinions and suggestions as the jacket could have only been shortened to a certain point otherwise it would cut off my pockets at a weird place. Really appreciated the honesty and advice!Picking up my clothes are always on time and hassle free too. Thank you so much! I will keep coming back here for the amazing and wonderful service and work done every time!
Liam Ross: I'll first say that this was my first real visit to a tailor in my lifetime-- I came in with a suit, three shirts, and two pairs of pants which I needed altered for my line of work. When I first arrived, I immediately felt welcomed and helped when I entered the store. Throughout the fitting session, William and Joy were highly honest, telling me what were the unnecessary repairs based on my budget, and what the best alterations would be to make. Lastly, we scheduled a pickup day, which was on time with no stress. I will definitely be back in the future as this was a very positive experience for me! Would 10/10 recommend to a friend.Service:Alterations
Teresa Chiu: I appreciate the open and honest conversation I had with Will. I brought in a hoodie that I wanted cropped. He said it could be done, but because of the kangaroo pocket, it would look strange. Will also explained if the pocket was taken off, the double stitch on either side would leave unsightly holes. I'm not sure if another tailor would take the time to advise me on an alteration.Service:Alterations
Manon Lee: Excellent service. A wee bit expensive but lovely staff and quality work! Worth it for your lovely cloths.
Veronica Jones: Incredible service & alteration work. I've used Oakridge Tailors a few times now. They are very personable people who provide excellent and honest tailoring services. I would definitely recommend using Oakridge Tailors!Service:Alterations
S Nazerali: Not a good experience with my jeans. The hemming on the bottom of the legs is awful - who ever cut the jeans to hem them, made the leg bottoms look crooked and angled. I wouldn't even give it one star if I had the choiceService:Alterations
Rosemary F: Went to them in summer and got some dresses I bought fitted to me.yes a bite pricy however the quality and attention to detail is fantastic. They have pride and knowledge and are a great pair. Joy and I am allergic to dogs so the day I went back they made sure the dog not near me. |how thoughtful and considerate sorry for the delay thank youService:Alterations
송시연: Before you go: make sure you bring a debit card or cash. I went to get a pair of pants hemmed; it cost 25 dollars (a little pricier than I expected) but my pants turned out perfect. I had a specific pair of shoes in mind and brought them with me to try on; I described very generally what I wanted the end result to be, "slightly long but not dragging on the floor" and that's exactly what I got. Really friendly, Coconut (dog) is also very friendly! I plan to return with my other ill-fitting clothes. Thank you so much :)Service:Alterations
Mike Scott: Service:AlterationsPositive:Professionalism,Quality
Kaitlyn Hui: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueVery kind, non judgemental and an incredibly quick turn around. Might be a little pricy for students but it was worth it considering how great of a job they did!Service:Alterations
Deno Brown: Over priced, not worth it.
Lisa Haywood: They hemmed my dress for 50 dollars, cheaper than I had expected! Very clean place. Unfortunately they dont fix backpack tears.
Cathy. Tang: William is awesome, super personable and funny. He helped us expedite our garment and pants and did such an excellent job, perfect fit! He insists on personally tailor every customers’ clothing himself or with his wife. This keeps the quality consistent and guaranteed. Lovely people here, and very trust-worthy. If you’re looking for a tailor, don’t doubt it just come!

Kerrisdale Custom Tailors: what do users think?
El Bakro: What ever happened wrong with the store. The karma came back to the store when a car hit that store
Christine Lee Kim: I have been a patron of Kerrisdale Custom tailors for over 30 years. They have done amazing work from my school uniform, to grad dress to wedding dress and now my daughter’s uniform. 3 generations in my family bring their clothes to this establishment for alterations. Can’t say enough great things about Michael and Lynn. I have never been disappointed with their services. Highly recommend!
Dee: I've been a customer for years, for all my alterations. My wardrobe is mostly casual, but I have my jeans hemmed and waist taken in, and sleeve lengths on jackets and coats done on almost every purchase. Occasionally I have had arms and the body of a coat or jacket altered. Every time they have done a phenomenal job. Lyn has helped me with one or two creative projects. Only occasionally my items weren't ready or a minor error was made which Michael fixes without issue or drama. If you have an event, you need to tell them beforehand. There are many customers ahead of you and sometimes people come in with something deemed urgent, which they try to accommodate. As far as price goes, they are good, so they charge a bit more. For my type of clothing it's not so bad, but if you wear suits and special occasion dresses, yes you will need to pay more because those clothes require extra care, precision and skill, and often include more than one fitting.
Brett Sunku: I left a somewhat expensive suit here for invisible mending required to fill in some moth holes. Picked it up a few months later and the work they did was satisfactory (good not great) but the rest of the suit had new damage all over it in extremely visible areas that wasn't there beforedrop-off. They claim this doesn't happen to other garmets in their possession (and therefore my situation was a case of us missing the additional holes that must've been present at drop-off). I inspected the suit meticulously to decide on what was to be mended and the current holes (that are painfully visible) were obviously not missed (they're worse than the holes we actually targetted for mending). They simply don't want to stand behind what they do (they don't just do mending, they should prevent damage to garmets while in their possession).I'm not sure if it's poor care of gamets or they have their own infestation. Don't bring natural fibres into this place (at the least). What a waste of $200 in addition to having a suit that's now completely useless.
Dmitry Ochug: they take a long time to get your clothes done but the quality is really good. If you're in a jam to get it done I wouldn't go here but otherwise totally worth itSurprised how very few people know how to sow including me :(
Stephen Darling: a very professional tailor shop - who accommodated both my requests promptly and they were well done.I would not hesitate to use Kerrisdale Custom Tailors again.
Rachel Sand: I was charged $500 for an alteration I was told would be $200. I don’t recommend this place.
michael Klein: Too Messy!
Tahlia Knight: They were amazing. They worked with me to make the alterations to my wedding dress in the short time frame for a reasonable cost. So thankful for them.
Katrina: NOT RELIABLE AND EXPENSIVE!!!If you need your items by a certain day, do not come here!I dropped my jacket off on November 13th, 2021 and was told to pick up on November 27th, 2021. Went there today at 3pm and was told it wasn't done yet and to come back at 5pm. I returned at 5pm and was told it was still not completed yet and to return on Wednesday, December 1st.I needed my jacket for an event in a few days and 2 weeks for tailoring a shouldve been more than enough time. My jacket costed about $120 only but the tailoring was $131.25. I was willing to pay more than the cost of my jacket because I heard this place was good. They also lost my garment bag and kept insisting they didn't take it. If I were willing to pay more than the cost of my jacket, I would not lie about a garment bag. This place wasted so much of my time and now I don't have my jacket ready for my event.
Yenne Y: This is the best custom tailor in west end. Dropped off kids uniform for alterations and forgot to pick up during weekend. Monday they are closed and I called Lynn the owner if i can go pick it the uniform as an emergency , and owner is so nice to come to open the door for me. Always recommend to all my friends for this tailor that has been great to customers for many many years in Kerrisdale. 👍🏻👍🏻
Denise: Excellent professional tailors, very good service. New location at West Boulevard and 42nd.
Allan: Disappointed with their workmanship. Coat not salvageable unfortunately.
Derek Smith: I needed to get my dress pants widened (a simple task) and a new 28" zipper put onto my skydiving jumpsuit (a more unusual request) before my departure to Alberta about 6 days later. I knew this was a bit of a rush but was told they could do it and simply to call the day before to confirm. Both garments were finished on time and ready for pick up. Pants fit perfectly, and the zipper sewn on fantastically, matching the existing stitching. Thank you for the rush service and quality work. Gonna make sure you get all my future tailoring needs.
Bryson Dutzi: Michael and his team are super friendly, helpful, and do excellent work at reasonable prices. I will always make the journey from White Rock down to Kerrisdale in Vancouver to see Michael for any of my tailoring needs!
Angela Liao: Lynn and her team are professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. I've had my pants hemmed, blouse shortened, and bridal gown altered and I've extremely pleased with their service.
Hailey Kjaer: Great service! I took in a difficult dress to be altered. They did an unbelievably good job. At first I thought the estimate was a bit more than I was wanting to spend but after seeing the alterations I got a deal for sure!
Sean Olthof: 5 stars because I can't give them 7. They gave good advice, made us understand what and why, and always delivered on our expectations.
Kenneth Watson: Took pants in to Kerrisdale Custom Tailors to have the waist let out. Was charged $35. Next day went to an alteration shop 2 blocks away on W 41st - they charge $10 to $15. Confronted C T the guy at Kerrrisdale on what he was charging me and he just shrugged. Would strongly suggest avoiding this shop - it's a rip-off!
Dáithí Horan: So expensive if you need a quick repair on jeans or tops. Double the price of the cleaners and altercation place down the street with a slower delivery time. Note: I cannot comment on the quality of the service in this tailors.
D: 1st time - they are good and the price a bit pricy but it was worth it, 2nd time it was ok but very pricy, they gained your trust by now, my last few time the work done is not everything I asked for and for the high price I paid it was not that good. Asked them to adjust a dress for me nothing much just around the chest the dress was my mom's so not sure how much she paid for it but is one of the things I kept of hers I paid 160 and when I told them it is still big they convinced me to take it, good luck if you want to try them I suggest you go there once every year and find another tailor for hemming specially.

Marisol C: I had forgotten to review Brascia's! But we've had only great experiences with them. My now husband has had 3 suits made there. (By Russell) one of the suits was for our wedding. They had a great deal at the time and the price was very reasonable. Cannot recommend them any higher!
Michael Frost: Wonderful. Great service and excellent selection of clothing and accessories. Highly recommend.
Grant Atwood: Visited here a couple of times and enjoyed all of my purchases! I bought a fantastic rain jacket and a suit for a Christmas party in 2021. Also purchase some high rise sneakers that I love. Love the brands, the service and really the entire experience. One of the best spots in Vancouver!

Lindsay Erikson: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueHands down the best menswear in Vancouver and incredible service!!! These guys know their stuff, highly recommend.
Veera Grover: Good
Karen Rai: Brascia Tailors is one of the best shops in Vancouver for men's attire! My father has been shopping at this store and every piece he has is absolutely beautiful including the recent winter sports blazer he just got! The quality of professionalism, honesty and quality you get from the whole entire Brascia team is absolutely phenomenal! I highly recommend all men should visit this shop for there wardrobe needs! Also Ladies if your looking for a nice gift for your loved ones, this is the place to visit.
FRANK PASACRETA: The best menswear store in Vancouver
Jakeb Jonas: Brascia's does some amazing tailoring. They took a pair of pants that were too small for me and made them bigger and they look amazing. Saved me a couple hundred dollars and were able to finish tailoring the pants under a tight deadline as I am leaving the country. The staff are polite and very knowledgeable.
Carlo: Excellent tailors and many years of knowledge and experience . I will admit I had no clue how to wear a suit or what to look for. Mike helped me out every step of the way, and now I know what it’s like to look good in a suit! Thanks !
Nigel Boeur: Incredible service, excellent selection, great value on Canadian-made high quality suits.I was looking for a suit to wear to my wedding, and I heard from a friend that Brascia's Tailors would be a good spot to check out. My fiance and I walked in at opening on a weekday morning and were greeted by a wonderful employee named Russell. He gave us a quick overview of the different options available from off-the-rack/tailored to bespoke, and once I explained that I wanted to stay at the low end of their price range, he provided a bunch of options to try on. I really liked that Russell's emphasis was on finding a suit that fit well, rather than just trying to upsell. After spending an hour trying on the different options, I narrowed it down to one suit, which Russell graciously put on hold for me for 48hrs as I wanted to think on it a bit more before purchasing (this was because although it was the least expensive suit in the place, it was still over my budget by a decent amount... first time suit shopper here!). After much consideration and crunching of numbers, I decided that due to overall budget restrictions, I needed to purchase the cheaper suit I had previously found elsewhere which was obviously of a lesser quality, but did also fit me well. I called Russell back to let him know that I wouldn't be moving forward with the suit he had put on hold, and he was extremely understanding, and happy for me that I found something elsewhere that would work for my budget. I won't forget the incredible customer service exhibited by Russell and will certainly visit Brascia's again for a suit when my budget allows. I highly recommend that you visit the store and see what they have to offer!
Brad: Custom suit. Just went through the process with Mike, with his 40 years of knowledge and attention to detail I can't wait to get my wedding suit!

Townline Tailors Inc: what do users think?
Khalid S: I decided to checkout this place to get two pairs of dress pants hemmed and tapered. I was greeted by the store owners, who were both very kind and attentive. They made sure they understood how I wanted my pants altered and offered their suggestions as well. Shortly after, I picked up my pants and was pleasantly surprised with the alterations. This will be my go-to tailor going forward!
Jacob Bragg: Very friendly service, quick work, and very well done! Thank you, and see you next time I need something altered!Services:Men's clothing alterations,Formal wear tailoring

Kat: Great service and skill, saved my dress that was ruined by the other tailor shop. Friendly staff too! Highly recommended to everyone who is looking for the best tailor in town.Service:Alterations
William de Courcy: One of the last true tailors! The very best in Vancouver - this is the only place I take my fine clothing for alterations. The quality and detailed work done here is unmatched. I’ve had too many issues with other alterations places in the past, it’s such a blessing to know about Townline.
Michael Job: The work Hana and Najib do is amazing. They are always very professional and all the clothes they have tailored for me come out looking perfect. If you need tailoring work done in Vancouver, I strongly recommend their services.
Isabel Thompson: I broke the zipper on my coat pocket, a tricky pocket to fix. They were able to fix it perfectly and right away - within an hour. They even fixed the other zipper which was on its way out. Great service and lovely staff, thank you!
Logan Peters: These guys really saved me with a same day tailoring. Other places I called that advertised "same day" tailoring flatly refused as they were "too busy". Towline took the job and got it done same day even though it turned out to be more complicated than they initially thought. Thanks!
P P: Ive been coming here for about 16 years and seen the ownership change hands serval times. As I was about to leave the past in the past, the new owners really took me by storm. The new head tailor puts love into his work he which resulted in beautiful finished work. Ive lost about 35lbs and had them alter several pieces of favourable clothing which had been brought back to life, to fit in my daily wardrobe.Highly recommend this tailor to those that need their services.
Avery King: The most AMAZING STAFF! I ruined the zipper in my dress 1 hour before an event, walked in and she had me good to go in minutes. I cannot recommend them highly enough, so courteous and calm in a crisis
Theo Sirohi: I had a group interview with a few friends at a financial firm in Vancouver. The suit which I had recently bought for this new position looked great, but it was missing something. I stopped by Townline Tailors and was greeted by kind employees. They were very helpful and knew exactly what to do with the suit jacket and pants. Townline employees only took about a week and then had my suit ready. It fit perfectly and I felt like David Beckham. The well-fitted suit coupled with new confidence clearly helped as I got the job. Ill definitely be coming back.Services:Suit tailoring,Alterations,Formal wear tailoring,Pants alterations
roham: I was looking for tailoring in the downtown area and I came across Townline. I got a suit a couple months ago that needed alternations. Service was great, alterations were finished much faster than I expected.Service:Alterations
Vicki Hansford: The service was first rate! Thank you Jude! And the craftsmanship on the re-lining of a man’s cashmere winter coat was excellent. I highly recommend on all counts.
Don “Dino” bidin: Just happened to visit this amazing shop and had wonderful quick service and the staff where more than helpful. Overheard this young girl complaining about the service I gather she was trying to get her service for free... look lady if you can't afford the service maybe you should try sewing it yourself...and then I see her review trying to discredit a reputable business. Some peopleServices:Alterations,General repairs
Linda Ding: Had a terrible experience getting my coat sleeve shortened here. The coat I got back had obviously different coloured stitch, asymmetrical and croaked stitching. There were open stitches everywhere (see picture). When I asked if this was the expected result post alterations I was told point blank this was because they do it with machine and to expect croaked stitching. It is one thing to have poor quality work, and another to stand by it! Is there no pride in your work?Additionally when I first took in the coat I was told to pick it up on a specific date in 2 weeks. I went in just after 2 weeks and was told it still wasn't done and to come back in a few days. A curtesy update would have been appreciated if things were going to be delayed??? And to get this result back after 3 weeks... I was absolutely shocked and disappointed. The only good thing about the experience was how readily they offered a refund, but only AFTER I went to Holt and had it reassessed there and told them what they said. Thankfully I was able to get the coat fixed at Holt, for half the price no less.I am willing to pay and wait for high quality work but you can't have poor worksmanship AND slow turnaround time AND be pricey.I see there are other reviewers who has had a good experience so maybe they do a good job sometimes. But I will not be returning to this place nor will I be recommending this place to any of my friends or family. The worksmanship is too variable and you just don't know what you will get back from them.
Kevin Mancherjee: With bags stuck in transit, Townline Tailors really help us out. Would recommend to everyone.Service:General repairs
Anisa Kassam: Really great customer service! The new guy there was very friendly and helpful and had my garments done before the set date and even called me to let me know they were ready for pick up. They did a great professional job.Service:Alterations
Grace Severson: The service was impecible, the staff really friendly and they altered my pants on a rush so I would have them for a special event. This will definitely be my go to for all my alterations needs!Service:Alterations
KOCHANSKI V P: Had my new suit fitted at Townline Tailors. They were quick, reliable, and dependable. I recommend this shop over any in the downtown core. No complaints! Mr. Jude at the shop was great!

Modernize Tailors: what do users think?
Neek Davy: Extremely thankful for Modernize Tailors. They tailored my suit beautifully! Tailored the suit jacket, paints and shirt. They then saved the day by making adjustments to my wife’s dress. Not only did they save us upwards of a thousand dollars on the dress alone, they were extremely time efficient and the customer service was amazing! Highly recommend
B Patterson: Mia and her team are excellent tailors - the best I've ever worked with. They expertly altered my Prince Charlie and Argyle jackets and vests making off-the-rack look custom tailored. I have no hesitation in providing the highest recommendation for them.Service:Men's clothing alterations
Joyce Robinson: Excited
Matt Williams: Grade A friendly service even when you show up hilariously uniformed yourself
Amelia Sun: The dress was too long for me, they cut it perfectly, nice and clean, look like brand new. Thanks so much! The lady I was talking to is very friendly and helpful, highly recommend their service!
Stephen Millen: Always quality work, easy to deal with, ready when scheduled
Ralf Maynard: I accidentally bumped into this place whilst looking for someone to do alterations on a pair of new jeans. Modernize does not do alterations to denim, however, they deal with high end, classic, antique fabrics. If you're looking for a company who will care for your great grandma's wedding dress Modernize is the place for you!
CA W: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueI bought several masks from here and asked for unique alterations to each and Mia was incredibly responsive and helpful with getting the alterations done and getting them to my house quickly! Super great service, the masks fit excellently, exactly how I want, would highly recommend.Services:Alterations,Design
Fred Strong: Critical:QualityMy experience is based on alternation: very disappointed. The service was decent, to be fair, but the work is horrible. A simple hemming, I can do MUCH better myself with a sewing machine.Service:Alterations
Munkster Funkster: Amazing staff and high quality suits
Jerry Lee: Awesome.Support Small Business
Grant Grinnell: Quality work and lovely staff.
Rob MacDonald: It's unfortunate that "I was with my tailor" is a sentence that too few men are able to truthfully say. When you buy clothes 'off the rack', you are limited to other people's choice of fabric, colour and style - and the clothes rarely have a proper fit - and thus when you dress to make a statement you are at best quoting other men's words. When you choose to be tailored you are enlisting an expert - an artist who "will enhance what nature has(n't) provided",: you will have the luxury of choosing cloth, style, placement of pockets...your clothes will be an exponent of your personality - and they will FIT!Nothing equals the Bespoke Experience.
Lisi Feng: I was so excited to find that Modernize Tailors also makes cloth masks, and Mia absolutely exceeds my expectations. She's always prompt to respond to my inquiries. When I told her the masks she sewed for my 3 year old son were a bit too small (which has nothing to do with her work but rather due to the fact that my son is quite big), she offered to make two bigger ones for my son for free. I can't thank her enough for her professional work and how much she cares about her customers. Would definitely recommend to friends and families around!
R Low: Positive:Professionalism,QualityWe brought their face masks. Good quality material and attention to details ! Comfortable to wear. My 8 year old loves his junior mask too 🤗
Darren Scott: I took my suit pants here to have them fixed after having sub-par alterations done elsewhere...Mia and Chris were excellent! The pants turned out perfectly, and it was very easy to do business with them. I would highly recommend them for any tailoring needs. I've been to several tailors in the past with disappointing results...so it's very nice to find somewhere that's doing things properly.
Gordon Havelaar: Excellent local business selling masks and supporting the community. Thank you!
Aimee Greenaway: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueGood quality and fast service! The mask I ordered was shipped quickly and I'm happy with the product.
Mary Salas: I stumbled upon Modernize Tailors Instagram page as I was looking to find re-usable, fashionable and comfortable masks to use during the pandemic and what will most likely be our new “normal”. I inquired via their direct message on Instagram and Mia was very helpful and replied promptly. She sent me pictures of the different fabric available to choose from. When I arrived to pick up my order, Mia and her assistant (didn’t ask name, I’m so sorry) were both helpful and friendly!!! Very satisfied with the service and with the product I purchased (i especially love my Winnie the Pooh mask) !!! I hope to be able to do business again with the Modernize Tailors team as I had a really good experience. I will definitely be telling my friends and family about them!! Thank you again Modernize Tailors :)
Briany Tai: Had the opportunity to go in for a custom suit consultation with Mia and Chris. It was fun to exchange some idea and gain so much knowledge on suits and how to mix-and-match as well! Can’t wait to see my suit and looking forward to impress my peeps!
Alex Nesterenko: Thank you a lot! My wife’s wedding dress was amazing. Tailors are the nicest people in Vancouver. They helped with altering my pants as well :)

Seville Tailors: what do users think?
chan mok: Place is great. I would say it's not budget friendly but my gosh these are some nice suits can't go wrong
Diljeet Hundal: Pat is a true Master Tailor he has attention to detail most could never appreciate. I consider myself lucky to have a suit tailored by Pat, he makes sure his costumers are 100% satisfied something you don't see much of these days.Services:Design,Suit tailoring,Custom made clothing,Cuffs alterations,Shirt tailoring
Ronald Klarenbeek: Pat is a legend and truly one of a kind. Pat is a gentleman and a man of his word. I value all his knowledge and love that he took the time to show me his shop and where the work is done. Very hard to find a master at his trade these days !Thank you Pat, I look forward to seeing you soon.Services:Suit tailoring,Alterations
Matt Moradi: Sorry that I have to write this bad review! I usually write only good reviews online and if something is wrong with a business, I prefer to talk to them in person and help them to fix minor issues!!!But this one was a real bad!!!Worst Tailors in town, no joke.awful job, awful attitude and absolutely zero customer service!!!How a business like this is even operating!? Maybe he was “SOMEONE” someday, but those days are gone! Don’t get fooled people
Aman Nijjer: Best Tailors in town, no joke. U have to walk in and look at the walls, you'll know when u go in for yourself. It's an amazing spot. He does all styles of suites. Anything u can think of. He's truly talented.
John Henry: Excellent experience, very professional, I will be going back!
Gabriel Vitus: Pat has a huge amount of experience and knowledge. This is not about only cutting and stiching, it is about designing an outfit including shirts and accessories. . Excellent! I would give more stars if possible.Service:Design
Paul: The suit turned out great, too bad he missed the 2 month deadline and I couldn't wear it for the event I wanted... So it'll just sit in the closet now. He initially told me we had plenty of time and it would be no problem, then there were constant delays and poor fits, needing more tweaking... I've never needed so many visits for a custom suit before. I'll take my business elsewhere.
al y: 3.5/5He's old school and doesn't believe in slim fit suits. If you have your own ideas about how suits fit and they're on the slimmer side, I wouldn't come here.Customer communications are very frank and he won't make any efforts to be nice.Price is standard but scheduling seems a bit long on the month of July. I'm not sure about other times.
Jacky Ly: fantastic suits by Pat. I would give Pat some patience given how many suits he's got orders for, plus everyone is a little slower with age. However, he doesn't miss a detail. He's done many suits for celebrities.
Eman Sip: I purchased two suites. Both were three piece suits and two shirts as well. They fit perfectly and the service was impeccable. I received so many compliments at my sister’s wedding. I will definitely be going there from now on.
Aaron Smith-Hayes: Amazing service and quality!!
David Peter: Great service! Great quality!
De Fault: Always first class!
Loi Todesco: About 8 yrs ago I started looking for an Italian tailor that did everything “in house”; nothing farmed out. I purchased a 2 piece suit, and 2 shirts. Exceptional! Pat is a Master Tailor. He learned the trade as a child in Italy, and has been doing it for 64 years. All the wool material is imported from Italy and England. I’ve purchased 2 more suits and 3 shirts since the first one. Again, EXCEPTIONAL !!! There is nothing that surpasses a tailor made suit for a man to look his best, and Pat is the Best!
Riley Giasson: I'll tell you what the best part of shopping at Seville's is: Pat Cocco and his team. Pat has helped me with my wedding suit, but I enjoyed his services so much that I've gone back for more. He's fun, passionate, and has over six decades of experience. His personality is reflected in his choice of fabrics and design. Overall there's great prices and quality to be found at Seville Tailor's.
Steve Li: COVID19 has resulted in me wearing suits much less this past year, but I thought now would be a good a time as ever to add to the wardrobe. So over the past few months I've ordered a number of dress shirts and suits, my first time dealing with Seville Tailors.Pat Cocco provides friendly, knowledgeable, top rate service. The quality of the materials, the fine workmanship and of course the perfect fit ... all I can say is WOW as words can't properly describe how great it feels all coming together.Seville Tailors is truly one of a kind and Old School in this changing business. Thanks Pat, I'll be back for more and my only regret is not finding your shop 20 years ago.Service:Design
Joseph Cocco: One of a kind experience! They dont make fine clothing like this anymore unless you visit the master tailor Pat Cocco. From beginning to end the process is done by hand and scrutinized along the way. Custom tailored to your body big, small and in between. He is flexible and is willing to make special orders available to your busy schedule. He made be a beautiful tweed hunters/ sport coat for my wedding it is a timeless piece! I love it, highly recommend for all fine clothing needs. From alterations, weddings/whole groomsmen parties, uniforms, high profile occasions and special orders. He has extensive experience in the trade and is the only one locally I know of that does all his work in house. He has crafted suits for many high profile actors featuring in movies, 2010 Olympics and much more! This is the professional, Master tailor Pat Cocco.5 star experience
Poker Account: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueVery authentic service. Pat makes you feel like an important person and makes you look like a statement. All my suits come from him thank you pat keep up the good fight
Michael Johal: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,Value

Albert's Tailor Alterations: what do users think?
Simon S: Located on the 2nd floor. You have to buzz #0227 to get in and use the elevator within a minute or so. I got 3 jeans hemmed here. Two raw selvedge denim and one regular. He did a pretty good job, the hem line could have been a bit straighter. Probably due to how rigid the denim was (~ 15oz). He doesn't do chain stitching but it looks practically the same on the outside. He was able to use two different colors, orange on the outside and red in the inside like the original stitching. The jeans didn't have any distressing on the hem so can't speak on that. It was $10 a jean, cash or e-transfer, and only took a day to get them back.
Sheldon Danielson: Hidden gem! Very professional and fair. Clothing always fits perfectly. I've used Albert's Tailor exclusively and have never been disappointed. He has adjust more than 20 dress shirts for me at good rate. Thank you Albert.
Aaron Winston: Albert is amazing. Needed a top coat and pants altered before an upcoming trip in a few days and he delivered with perfection!! Definitely coming back. Thanks for everything.
Daniel L: Straightforward and friendly, did a great hemming job on my lululemon pants for cheap.Service:Pants alterations
Kathy Nguyen: Such a nice/welcoming man who is so great at what he does. I dropped two pants off for hemming that were ready for pickup the next day and they turned out perfectly. He only takes cash or etransfer.Services:Pants alterations,Alterations,Women's clothing alterations
T KH: I wear suits to weddings and special events, that's it. Albert's tailored the 3 different suits I've ever worn, and he's always done a good job. That is, they fit better after he's done some work on them. Also patched a hole in my jeans. In my experience, he charges fair prices with a quick turnaround, can't complain!Services:Alterations,Clothing repairs
n n: Really good alteration, and really quick turnover too. Had to get hemming fixed and it feels as good as new now. I also got some pants shortened, and it was very professionally done. The price is also very reasonable. Would definitely go again if I needed to.
Dearbhail Cotter: Cheap :)Services:Coat jacket alterations,Pants alterations,Alterations,Blouse alterations
Pickleback Rock Band: Amazing value for high quality craftsmanship. I’ll always return hereServices:Cuffs alterations,Alterations
Taylor Epp: I've had three different alterations done with Albert now – all traditional menswear stuff. He tapered a pair of wool trousers, shortened the sleeves on a couple of sport jackets, and took in several dress shirts for me.Each time, Albert did an excellent job. The garments fit great, and the stitching is durable. Moreover, his prices are generally cheaper than anywhere else I've seen in the city.Albert's shop is very small and unassuming – but it's clear to me that Albert knows what he's doing, and takes care in his work. I'm going to keep coming back.
Toufan Chapari: Professional; Kind & generous
Brian Tse: Albert is amazing. I brought in my suit jacket to shorten the sleeves and he was able to turn it around in 3 days. He also helped taper my pants which were really baggy. Prices were extremely cheap.
Catherine Weller: Albert is a Vancouver staple. He has been altering my clothes for 14 years and he is always so sweet, courteous, and no one can beat his prices, and efficiency.I tried to go to busy bee one day to save myself a trip downtown and they wanted to charge me 3x the price of what Albert ended up charging me.Don’t be fooled by dry cleaner + alteration places. Go to a specialist like Albert!Services:Pants alterations,Blouse alterations,Alterations,General repairs,Women's clothing alterations
Damion Ceniccola: This is the only place I go to get my clothes altered. Albert is very accommodating and friendly and his prices can't be beat!
Silvana Rivadeneira: I've been going to see Albert for alterations for the last two decades, not once has he returned items done incorrectly. there might be loose threads here and there but nothing a lint roller won't fix. Consistent work, fair pricing. I usually go at the end of the day as he is always there at this time. I just don't trust anyone else after having had several bad experiences when i get clothing altered elsewhere.
Shawn Williams: Quickfast and cheap. Big time worth it.
Michael Bonneville: Brought a pair of my 19oz Japanese denim here to get tapered. Service was extremely fast, very reasonable priced and the result was awesome. Highly recommend.
zip none: Nice denim work!
Steven Lee: Very affordable & quick turnaround. Always my go to place for dress shirts or suits. He knows exactly what needs to be done.
Lai Arguelles: Reasonably way cheaper than the rest of tailor shops. And he did an amazing job on my bridesmaid dress.
Rozaan Labuschagne: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueGreat service...highly recommended. Had selvedge denim tapered. Great job.Service:Alterations

Samson Shirt & Suitmakers: what do users think?
Ian L.: I've known Steve for a few years now - initially during my formative years when I didn't know any better and had ordered a suit from Indochino (and subsequently enlisted Steve's abilities to fix!) to now having Steve look after me and my groomsmen at my wedding. Long story short - Steve made a gorgeous suit for me and absolutely nailed the fit and finish; while my wife was the star of the evening, I looked every bit the part (in a classy, complimentary way) and felt amazing in my custom suit. If you have an eye for well-fitted, made-to-measure or bespoke menswear that is timeless in style, Steve is your man. He'll give you his time and honest advice to get you looking your best. A word of advice: give yourself enough time before your big day; the process of finding the right fit and finish is iterative - some would say an artform - so expect several visits, because Steve will give you his time to make sure the fit is perfect. I highly recommend Steve's expertise and services!Services:Formal wear tailoring,Men's clothing alterations,Shirt tailoring,Custom made clothing,Coat jacket alterations,Design
Amir S: I got a dress shirt shortened by Steve and he’s very friendly. The shirt looks greatService:Alterations
Marcus Drewry: I came to Steve for help creating a new suit that I could wear for an upcoming wedding, and I was thoroughly impressed with the service he provided in walking me through every detail of the design process. I had never had a custom suit before and didn't know exactly what I wanted but through our consultation we developed something that fit all my needs and I was excited to wear. The end result was a beautiful (and comfortable) suit that exceeded my expectations, all on a very reasonable budget.I highly recommend Samsons and will definitely be coming back for all my future custom menswear.Services:Suit tailoring,Custom made clothing
Kevin Zhao: For my wedding, Steve made tailored suits for myself and my groomsmen. He taught us about what a proper jacket and pant should be, with a focus on appearance and comfort/function. He listened to what we were looking for and was not shy to provide his expert opinion, which I valued. The product was the best suit that any of us have owned. The suits looked great but I was most impressed by the comfort. A well-made tailored suit truly feels different. I have since had another suit recut by him as well as shirts and slacks. I highly recommend Steve, his service and his product. I will be a repeat customer in the future.
Jason Mohr: Visiting Samson Shirt & Suitmakers was an incredibly productive experience. After introducing himself, Steve, a very knowledgeable tailor, helped me develop a concept for my wardrobe. Though I have past experience with design Steve did an excellent job of translating my concept into a realistic, budget friendly, and attainable reality. When I asked for his opinion on the decisions I was making he shared his honest thoughts, as well as valuable input on why or why not certain products and materials may or may not work well with my lifestyle and work space.Let's face it, entering a business with an idea and no clue where to start can be daunting, though Steve made this experience a breeze. After visiting Samson Shirt & Suitmakers, I feel that I have a trusted adviser in Steve.
James Sutcliffe: Steve fitted me for a custom suit and and did a fantastic job all the way through the process. He took the time to show and discuss a number cloths and patterns to work with, and then followed through to a final product that looks and feels great!
Thomas Girard: Great stuff here.. I really wanted a black suit jacket, a kind of all purpose thing. From the fabric to the story, the piece arrived - beyond what I could imagine. Felt a thousand times better after. Shop here!
Chris bryant: Best suit I have ever had the pleasure of being dressed with. Unparalleled materials and tailoring. Yes...he is a little bit of a character, as are most all of the highly creative people in my life.30 years is a long time to wake up each day and smile at the clothes made by this man.
Matt N: Alteration Testimony: I purchased a 'custom measured' suit when I was in China and the sizing was all off, the arms in the jacket was too tight, chest and mid section was too wide. This was back in January 2020, and I didn't want to ship it back to get it altered. I had heard about Steve from a friend and also looking around online. There were terms and concepts clearly shown from his years of experience, but more importantly he made me feel SO GOOD in the suit when he was done fixing it. Total costs to fix were about the same price as a new suit (understandable given the time needed to fix it), but I liked the colour and texture already, and there's 0 point to wearing a suit if you're not going to feel your best :) Thanks Steve!Services:Alterations,General repairs
Roy Scott: Steve was awesome to deal with. Offered suggestions for colors/materials that would compliment my odd little shape. Delivered on time as promised and fit was very good. I am very satisfied with the product and the service and will be back again and again. Thanxx Steve.Service:Design
Jeremy P: What once was a suit shop I would recommend, I can no longer. Unless you wish to have your suit come with a side of “Qanon Weekly Newsletter”, I wouldn’t come here.Do not give him your email.
Jamie Buis: Positive:QualityI received a suit as a present and after much research my wife found Steve online. Steve helped design the perfect suit for me and after several visits he got the fit correct and the suit fits me beautifully. Thank you so much Steve!Service:Design
Dean T: Overall, this was a bad customer experience. Not only was the workmanship and the ability of this person was in question but his social skills need some work. Pelman was always regurgitating some facts he heard from some obscure online media sites and talking about his political views during our fitting sessions and it got annoying. He would talk so much and get so worked up that he would forget to write things down or take down my requests or measurements. There was no focus or attention to detail in his work. As a result, whenever I came in for a fitting, there was always something not done, overlooked, or something he forgot to do.Even after waiting almost 6 months and coming to his shop for FIVE fittings, here are some things that are still wrong with the jacket:-The jacket is now too small around the waist and seat.-One front panel is longer than the other by a quarter to half an each.-The sleeves are now too short.-Remnants of chalk markings on the garmentI would gladly pay someone else to work on this garment and fix his mistakes just so that I don’t have to deal with someone as loathsome as Pelman. I will get someone else to work on the jacket and bring it up to my specifications.Needless to say, I will not be getting my three-piece wedding suit made with this man. The number of mistakes he made and the amount of time it took for him to fix them were too many. If I had ordered my wedding suit from him, it would have taken longer and maybe not be finished in time for my wedding. If you want a suit made, avoid this place and don’t waste your time and money.Services:Design,Alterations
Adeel Khan: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueSteve made me the best custom suit I could possibly have imagined.I sent him a few pictures and a description, made an appointment and he completely understood my concept and made it reality. I wouldn't recommend anyone else!Service:Design
Jamie Hennessy: Great tailor, nice guy. A nice pair of tailored slacks is way better than a suit.
C B: I came across Samson's while searching online for a place to purchase a made to measure suit for my daughter's wedding this coming fall. I watched Steve's YouTube videos on his website and I was intrigued. When I called to make an appointment Steve did offer to do an online consultation because I live 130 kilometers away but I wanted the first hand experience.I met Steve at his store and thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of choosing the fabric for the suit, fabric for the inner panels and lining and the buttons. I haven't received the finished suit yet but I'm confident that I won't be disappointed. If you're in the market for a new garment for your wardrobe at a fair price I highly recommend Steve at Samson's.Thank you Steve, it was a pleasure doing business with you. I'm looking forward to meeting again when the suit arrives.
Tom Bremner: I first came to Steve after having an underwhelming experience with one of those $500 custom suit chains. And, boy, was I happy to find him. He's been my go-to suit and shirt maker ever since. Can't recommend him more strongly.
Nic Sun: I first visited Samson to get my existing suit checked for fitting/alterations about a month prior to my wedding. It was a suit I had purchased while traveling in Vietnam, which I thought was pretty good at the time, but something about it just didn't seem totally right, it didn't feel "groom-worthy". The material was pretty good, construction seemed OK to me, but the shape and fit just wasn't quite there. Steve showed me what separated that suit from a properly shaped suit. The difference was very apparent. He offered to help me out in light of my situation, saying he could have a new suit made to measure and delivered within 3 weeks. He offered a very reasonable price which was appreciated as I wasn't really expecting to buy a new suit that day. In the end, Steve presented me with a beautiful classic 3-piece suit that looks and feels great. We worked together to pair it with the right bowtie, and he helped me choose the best ties for the groomsmen as well. Steve takes great pride in his craft, is eager to share his knowledge, and takes time to express his philosophy on the importance of dressing well in modern society - something you may not get in most sales/service interactions, but I feel is appropriate for the personal nature of his business.I will be returning to Samson the next time I need a classic garment made, and would recommend him to any tasteful man looking to invest in quality menswear at a fair price.UPDATE: Returned again a year later to have a sports jacket made. It was a very easy process as Samson already had my measurements from my last suit. I went with their new lightweight canvas construction. The result is a beautifully shaped jacket that remains comfortable and conforms to the body naturally. The Donegal tweed is wearable almost year-round makes for a very versatile piece which I will no doubt wear very often! As always Steve provided great service and quality product at a fair price. Even amidst the COVID slowdown, he was readily available and delivered on time. Thanks again!
David Biesok: I very highly recommend this shop. Steve is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. I had brought in some suits that I took to a tailor that seemed to make them more ill-fitting. Steve knew exactly why the pants weren’t fitting and suggested a few simple fixes that made a world of difference. I had initially paid to have the seat taken out per his advice, and when that wasn’t enough, he also added some strips in the thigh and then redid the legs and hem that the previous tailor had done, and he didn’t charge me for the additional work! Steve cares that you look good and feel confident in your suits above all else. While these were off the rack, I’m definitely going to have a suit made by Steve next time. I’m excited to see the difference.
Adam Tuck: Steve fit me for a custom suit for my wedding last summer. It’s the first suit I’ve had fitted in years, and I was searching for a business that would have a bit more of a personal touch. I’m so glad I came across Samson when I was shopping around. Steve gave expert advice and work was quick and professional. He also helped with a custom shirt in addition to the three piece suit. The fit is perfect and incredibly comfortable. I looked sharp for the wedding day and I love wearing the clothes for other dressy occasions. I highly recommend his work, and will definitely be going back again to treat myself with more quality clothes.
raymond: I made an appointment and visited Steve when in Vancouver for meetings last January as I had been wanting to get a fully canvassed suit for some time. Steve spent the time to ensure I got the suit I wanted. He shipped the suit to me within 5 weeks and after 5 minutes hanging in a steamy bathroom I put it on and it looked terrific. It feels good wearing this suit, the fit, fabric, and style are wonderful. It is an experience working with Steve that is challenging and rewarding and about more than a piece of clothing. Looking forward to checking in at the end of the month if possible.

James Custom Tailor - BY APPOINTMENT ONLY: what do users think?
tracy smee milton: BOTCHED my jeans. Says that these pockets are equally distant from the centre when they are clearly NOT. Brand new Joes Jeans. I was charged DOUBLE the usal rate ($40 plus tax) for a waist take in because it was 4” and they had to take from the side too. FURIOUS.
Drew Scott: Did me a favour and got my pants perfectly hemmed, same day. Quality, quick, value priced, and polite. What more can you ask for?
Peter Pi: This is a good place to get your stuff worked on. I needed to attach two ribbed cuffs I bought myself onto my jacket. We discussed the sleeve length and my concerns. The jacket cuffs turned out awesome and the stitching good. The prices are reasonable as I would have botched the job if I were to do it myself.
robert ambardar: Knows what he's doing and price is reasonable compared to some "high end" tailors
Greg Yoshida: Always happy with the work done here.
Mickle Pickle: Friendly, knowledgeable and quality services. From a bespoke suit to updating your current suit, this man has been doing this for years and the quality of his work shows.
Gareth Bowley: Great service. Always happy with the quality of work done and James Custom tailor. Pricing is excellent for the work that is done. Definitely recommend this shop for any alterations and tailoring.
Phil B: I first started going to James years ago when I needed a suit made. After an awful experience elsewhere, where I got the "Pretty Woman" treatment of being ignored at a large chain of suit stores, I instead took my money there. The personalized service was fantastic, and I got a great suit made that fit better than anything I would buy off the rack, and for even less money than the suits I was looking at. It was cheap enough, comparatively, that I had several shirts made too.Since then, I have gone back several times and had more shirts, some pants, etc, made. I even had a vest made to match my suit, and even though this was a limited fabric that they weren't sure they could get anymore, they actually called England to see if it was still available. They keep meticulous records of what they have made for you, specifically so they have your measurements and fabric swatches stored away. I brought one of my shirts to measure to have new ones made (before I knew of the records they kept), and they found a small defect in the material (it was starting to fray on one seam), and they fixed it for free.Highly recommended. They have my business from now on.
