Yatendra Sharma: This is a great place to go for your eye exam and glasses or contact lenses. Mount Pleasant display a nice collection Optometry instruments which impress me. The staff members-Ms Nora, Ms Jasmine, Ms Joan and Ms Baljinder are very friendly and helpful. They are beck bone frontlines of the business and are thorough and cares about making sure that the prescription is right and the patient is comfortable. They went above and beyond for me. They filed my insurance on my behalf, so I didn't have to pay and wait for insurance to reimburse me. Michael worked with me to make sure the fit of my glasses was perfect. He even custom fit glasses ordered online and fit into my existing frame . We're very happy to have Mt Pleasant Optometry Centre in our area and we're very impressed with their selection and their service.

Paisley Lafleur: Exceptional customer care offered by Stephen, my Dispensing Technician - he's patient, thorough and knowledgeable! Recently, I patronized his service for a pair of new eyeglasses with prescription. Well, I happened to change my mind after the order was placed; but Stephen was an absolute saint who patiently listened and recommended other choices for me. What's most impressive was -- besides ordering new frames and choosing the right colours; there was extra work to align with the lab for some technical challenges. But thanks to Stephen, eventually we got to the final fitting! Where else could you find such a level of professionalism and dedication? Yes, I am very satisfied with my new eyeglasses. So, if you are looking for an excellent team for your eye care needs, I'd recommend Mount Pleasant. Besides Stephen, Dr Jessica Chan is most wonderful and all other staff are always polite and helpful too. Five Stars for all of you, thank you so much!
L Oleksiuk: My experiences with the Eye Doctor have been great. Not so much buying glasses though. Customer service and communication is poor. My glasses were ready for almost two full weeks and I was not notified at all that they were ready. Take your prescription elsewhere.
Harry M: The optometrist that I have seen are fabulous (beyond 5 stars). The downside are the Optical Staff -- at least those that I've seen are more interested in higher cost sales than what is the benefit to the customer. For such a stellar optometrist to be let down by the optical sale is disheartening. However I would assume this is where the greater percentage of income is made, and there is no requirement for you to shop here for glasses.
James O: Outstanding customer care service. I have been a patient of Dr. So's for a number of years and could not be more pleased. Recently, I visited the centre to acquire assistance servicing a pair of sunglasses (purchased elsewhere). Charissa, an optician, provided me with exceptional and highly professional care. I will continue to recommend this facility to others in need.
Jennifer C: I had heard lots of great things about Mount Pleasant Optometry, so I went there to get help for a moderate dry eye problem. But part of the instructions I got from the doctor for treatment weren’t clear: I thought she wanted me to use OTC eyedrops that were preservative-free, and only learned during the follow-up three months later that she wanted me to use eyedrops that were both preservative-free AND contained hyaluronic acid. During the follow-up, the doctor called me non-compliant even though I (1) didn’t know I was supposed to use eyedrops that contained hyaluronic acid and (2) followed the rest of the treatment plan she gave me (2x heated eye masks per day, 2,000mg omega-3 per day, 2x prescription eyedrops per day, increased water intake, blinking exercises, etc.).To put in all the effort I did for three months and still get called non-compliant really hurt. If I needed to use OTC eyedrops that had specific ingredients, maybe list those on a sheet of paper and give it to me so it’s clear? The treatment paper I had been given only listed “Preservative free artificial tears” - which, again, made me think the only requirement for the eyedrops was that they were preservative-free.I will say that in general, the staff are very nice. But the experience I had was really upsetting, and I don't think I'll be coming back.
Adam M: Went to Mount Pleasant for a routine eye exam to be able to order new contacts. They provided a normal service, just a standard eye exam, but charged over double the price of any of their competitors. Not only this, but they provided me 5 contact lens samples, and charged me for them. Most other places would provide such samples for free. I would not recommend using this practice, save yourself the money and go literally anywhere else!
Andrew McKay: Stopped in not long ago for an eye exam and to have some frames fitted with new lenses. My experience with Toby, Vivian, and Dr. Plangg was thorough, pleasant and all outstanding concerns I’d had going in were resolved. Excellent and professional atmosphere in the shop!
Araceli Baena: I have been a long time customer of Mount Pleasant Optometry Centre (20+ years). They have been my go to for my kids and I've referred friends and family. I've read the reviews here and I have to say I agree UNTIL now.Essentially, I ordered glasses just over a year after their prescription and they turned out to be too strong. I called MPOC to see if they could revisit the prescription and their response was "Yes, we can see you for the $125 fee".I'm writing this to suggest a more customer-centric response cold have been "I'm sorry to hear that, let's revisit and if your prescription has changed, we'll have to charge you but if it hasn't and we gave you the wrong one, we'll take care of it."Best case out of this situation is that you earn $125 fee from me because I was wrong OR you have a happy customer because you fixed something that was a mistake on your end and continued referrals. But instead, I'm sharing with experience with a much wider audience. Update on my prescription - it was WAY too strong and has since been adjusted by our new family optometry.
Rob Davies: I purchased my first pair of glasses here. I found the staff excellent at explaining the process and what to expect. Charissa was particularly patient in helping sort through and advising the many styles of frames available. I'm thrilled with the result!

Joseph Chao: Long time customer, but last optometrist experience was quite mediocre (I won't go into the details). I was quoted $1100 just for the lenses I needed. I came back a separate time to order my glasses and even booked a 2:00pm appointment. I was told repeatedly that I was next and would be seen soon. After waiting more than 40 minutes (with my 5 year old with me), I just left. A few days later I went down the street to another optometrist where they honored the appointment time I set with them and got me a great discount on the exact same Zeiss lenses.
logan5: Updated post!!Upgrading my rating because they called and offered me another eye exam at no charge.The staff are great and all, but the prescription I got from the doctor after the eye test is too strong. So 140$ for eye exam wasted, and 200$ for new glasses that I can’t use. Not a happy customer.

I feel for them as they have the ongoing Broadway construction at their front door. Don’t let that shop you from going there. You just have to give yourself some extra time.

They have premium quality and thorough comprehensive eye check-up.I'm going down to three stars for some ethical concerns: the pushy selling of eye drops and supplements. Plus, I felt that MSP is being billed for unnecessary diagnostic stuff; I had to do blinking light test twice despite of being a "low risk" , which is a red flag. They also offer spec discount in exchange for review.

She answered all my questions and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.The equipment compared to the last vision center I went to is very up to date and modern. The staff ensured your visit is one to remember.After the eye exam, I chose frames and lenses that suited my visual needs. At no point in time did the opticians tried to up-sell or pressure you into buying products. The glasses came within two weeks and the contact lenses came shortly after.I highly recommend anyone who is needing their vision corrected to visit Avenue Eyecare and support your local small business. 5/5 stars!

Satneev Bhamra: As many people have mentioned in other reviews, wait times are a significant issue at Perspective Clinic - be prepared to wait at least an hour even if your appointment is in the morning as the Optometrist is always late most likely due to over-booking patients.We have been to this clinic over several years and having to wait an hour plus is a consistent issue. The staff are friendly and the Optometrist is pleasant but they don't seem to realize that waiting over an hour with kids for a 5 min appointment is not reasonable. The staff's default answer seems to be "they were dealing with emergencies causing the delay". Unfortunately, they also don't seem to respect people's busy schedules as we have had to miss other planned activities waiting for our appointment.Because of the wait times, we will be looking for a new clinic for future appointments.

MARY JOY DASALLA: Very good service! 👌🏻 Dr. Randhawa is great, she has a kid-friendly technique of communicating to kids to make sure they are comfortable. My daughter enjoys her check ups and the way Dr. Randhawa does it. The staff are also very accommodating, Rexxie is the best! Sometimes though it gets busy, a lot of people come here because of great service, so make sure to book your appointment and arrive on time. 👍🏻
Jennifer W: The wait time to see the doctor is too long. Even though an appointment was made, I was immediately told to wait upon arrival. After 1/2 hour, there were no updates. I asked the receptionist and was told to wait again. After that time was up, I still wasn't called in to see the doctor. I didn't have time to wait any longer so I let them know I had to leave. The response from the receptionist was "okay." Wasted almost an hour waiting for nothing.

Anne CZ: I've only been to Perspective Optometry 2 times now. The first time, I brought my daughter to get her eyes checked as a routine checkup. Long story short, we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes after her appointment time to be seen by Dr. Randhawa. A thirty minute wait would have been reasonable, an hour wait would have been pushing it, but 1.5 hours? I'm not sure how my 2 year old was able to wait that long in a doctor's office. Funny enough, another parent who brought her 2 kids was ranting to us about how they have been coming to Perspective Optometry for awhile now and that this unfortunately is the norm. I had asked the front desk to see if the wait is usually this long and they said that there were a few emergencies in the morning so all the appointments have been pushed back. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so I decided to book my routine eye exam here. I booked it for today at 3pm. I came in with an open mind, not dwelling on the experience from last time. The office didn't look busy at all so I was quite hopeful. When it came to 3:30pm, I asked the front desk about how much longer might I have to wait. They told me that there were a few more people ahead of me, and that it would just be another 25 minutes. They also said the same thing as last time that there were some emergencies in the morning which is why the wait is longer. After a few minutes of reflecting on this experience and the last experience, I decided to leave because I don't want to make this my primary place for eye exams if everytime I make an appointment for myself or for my family, that we are expected to wait at least an hour beyond our appointment time. A lot of us live very busy lives and unfortunately don't have the luxury of making extra time for these kinds of situations. For new customers, please be aware that this is something that you may experience as well. My review is solely based on the waiting experience. On a side note, the doctor is very pleasant and seems to be quite knowledgeable. The only downside was that during the first visit, after waiting for 1.5 hours, she only needed to see my daughter for less than 5 minutes...

melis k: I didn't have a problem with my visit but more so the billing portion. With a condition that MSP partially covers, I expected my bill to reflect the coverage amount and to have a total less than the standard visit amount. But this clinic charged me more than what a standard visit costs (even though my appointment was a standard visit) so when MSP coverage was applied, it brought my total back down to a standard visit amount. This is a dishonest practice. If a patient has a condition that is partially covered by MSP, that needs to be honored and followed thru with, not charged extra to waive the coverage amount. This makes me feel like this practice is purely profit driven and not patient or care driven. Would not recommend, especially to those with special conditions that qualify for MSP coverage.

I can not compliment them enough. I started with them in my 20’s and will be with them until forever is up.

But my last experience with the frames specialist was less than stellar, as when I stated my budget, she laughed. I got a complete set of progressive glasses at my budget elsewhere, and is still the best glasses I’ve had. That’s why I gave them 4 out of 5 stars. The optometrists are the best.

Dr. McDougall is thoughtful, kind, and thorough, and fantastic with our two young children. On several occasions the front office staff went out of their way to help us with an issue--whether that was helping repair a broken frame or replacing a lost set of glasses. I would emphatically recommend them to anyone looking for optometry care in Vancouver.

Eric Doelling: Following recent cataract lens replacement surgery I was in eyesight misery and needed some understanding of why I was having issues with my eyesight. My surgeon asked me to have an OCT scan performed of my retina and I found Downtown Optometry had the specific equipment. The office is modern and extremely well equipped with state of the art modern optical examination equipment.During my next visit to Vancouver and being impressed with the office and state of the art equipment I booked an appointment for an examination. Dr. K performed an extremely thorough examination and was very patient with explanations and all of my questions. His experience and knowledge is fantastic and he was able to help me to diagnose the issues. Experience and determination to solve my problems. I could not be more happy with the place.I also purchased two pairs of inexpensive glasses and John who aided me in selection, constructed the lenses. He was also truly magnificent. From making appointments to getting world class examinations a pleasurable experience and worthwhile investment. I found the costs fair and very reasonable.
Paul Priest: I have been going to the Downtown Vancouver Optometry Clinic for over 10 years now. I feel I am in good hands with Dr. G. S. Komarnicky. I have never bought my eyeglasses here as I have found better prices elsewhere. And there have been occasions where the staff performed tests in a slapdash manner.
JUNE SANYAL: I went to visit this place today.After examining, Dr. Jordan Chou advised me that if I “get a blurry vision, just ignore it, its not a big deal”.And Downtown Vancouver Optometry Clinic has hired him as an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist, whatever !
A G: I have been a patient of Dr K for years on years. However, I am so disappointed with this clinic. When our child came here, we were charged the full private insurance cost, even though MSP covers the cost. It was also exorbitant. After a few tries, Dr K gave up and told us to come back in a few years. He still charged us full cost. I went to another optometrist later who charged us only the MSP amount and commented how dishonest Dr K was. He also was much more patient. I agree - DVOC never told us once about the MSP and had no qualms charging us for nothing.
Emily J: I saw Dr. Gafur for my eye exam and was very disappointed. He was in a huge hurry the whole time, did not have any patience with answering questions and even the eye exam itself even was hurried. I asked him if my particular health condition would affect my eyes and he answered very confidently that it should not affect my eyes at all and then brushed me off. I've gone to 2 other optometrists since and both have told me that this health condition can indeed affect my eyes and properly educated me on what to watch out for. I do not recommend if you want someone who takes 2 minutes out of the appointment time to address relevant concerns related to eye health.
Karen Blair: After an eye exam and glasses fitting gone really wrong with an optometrist closer to my home, I have returned to Dr. Gafur and will continue making the trip to see him for myself and my daughter. He has a gentle disposition, exceptionally professional, and took the time to ensure that the glasses prescribed were comfortable upon fitting. He easily related to my shy daughter, chatted about having a bunny rabbit with her and explained eye health and what the tools can do. Great at what he does, and a lovely person.
Kim Legler: This is the only place I'll go for my optometry needs! I usually see Dr. Jordan Chou who is very thorough, informative and friendly. He explained my diagnostic and preventative measures for my eyes very well and since then my eyes seem to be doing much better.I also needed to get a pair of my glasses fixed and it was Annie who had assisted me. She was very friendly, and professional to deal with. My glasses now fit perfectly and aren't falling down my face. Would definitely recommend visiting! I'll be back again!

Gerald L: DR KOMARNICKY is really the contact lens master!!! I originally saw him upon a recomendation from a client. I have a difficult to fit cornea for all contact lenses exacerbated by dry eyes. I saw three other optometrists who couldn't fit me properly with rgp lenses. Dr.K fit me with rgp lenses bang on the first visit. Ive seen DR K for 15yrs + and he just refit me with MULTIFOCAL rgp lenses and I can see clearly near far and everything inbetween. I highly recommend Dr.Komarnicky and his staff are also amazing too. Dr K will give you the best care possible for all your contact lens needs.

Allen Lin: I don't really have time to write reviews, but when it's good, I stop and make the time. Dr. Melody Tong and their Optician Jessica helped me out so much, and unexpectedly so, that I really just want to rant and rave about my experience.For starters, Dr. Tong is good with kids, as she was patient and adaptive when checking my little toddlers eyes. Kids don't always patiently sit and follow instructions but Dr. Tong got it all done!Seeing the patient and thorough exam procedure reminded me that I hadn't had an eye exam in a while so I got mine done a few weeks later and was not surprised by how good my own experience was. As I get older, my eyes are changing, and Dr. Tong patiently explained where my prescription changes arose from, and what to watch out for when filling out my prescription.I had the choice to fill out my prescription here at Eyelab with Jessica, but I work from home and rushed back to take my next meetings. As such, I filled out my prescription with an online place (not Eyelab) and when the glasses came, I put them on and was incredibly worried that I had filled out my prescription wrong. Before heading out on vacation a day later, I stopped by Eyelab and Jessica met with me and my online glasses. I explained how my vision was blurry and disorienting and maybe did my online prescription order wrong. After some testing, she patiently and helpfully explained the kind of lenses that I had bought were Media Lenses (not simple Progressives) which would confine their use to just the office desk, and nowhere else. She also assured me that it would be fine with a few adjustments and even helped fit them for me. Throughout it all, I reminded her that I hadn't bought the glasses with Eyelab but she still insisted on making sure I was OK.I'm wearing my glasses now and I'm feeling super relieved and confident that these new glasses are going to work out OK! I promised next time to book extra time after my visit with Dr Tong to ensure I'd get my next prescription filled out at Eyelab with Jessica... there is so much more to buying glasses than I had anticipated and I'm so glad they went above and beyond for me.

With the help of high-tech equipments, Dr.Tung identified her eye-sight issues and proposed different solutions. We then chose the OK Lenses for her. Dr. Tung has been very patient and well-explained to my daughter the procedures of wearing the lenses. And he was very responsive to answer my email questions on a late Saturday night. Dr. Xiao also did a comprehensive eye exam for me, detected some issues, and referred me to an ophthalmologist so that my eyes could be treated in time. Dr. Xiao is very professional and thorough. Even known it's nor even closing time or rather suggest that there's another branch that will still open. We're dissatisfied. I have a seniors whos with me who's that needs the service. You're new to the areas but the attention to customer is very poor. 👎

Then the girl who served me forgot what type of lenses I needed and called me by telephone to ask "we're you getting normal vision lenses or graduated lenses?" it was as if she hadn't even written the information down. Lousy record keeping, not an efficient person
Vladimir Reshetov: I bought two pairs of prescription glasseses, which didn’t suit me right away. I felt dizzy and everything was moving while wearing the glasses. Specsavers team said: “It’s normal, you must get used to it.. give it a couple days..” but I almost crushed my car driving in those glasses!! My doctor said they gave ma a wrong prescription or lenses are very poor quality, makes sense to me. I tried to call and figure out the situation, how could I possibly get it fixed and the lady on the phone, who is the manager of Broadway location, was extremely rood and hanged up on me without even letting me to explain the problem.. it’s insane! I just wanted to get the proper lenses..

Peeu Banerjee: I got the reference from UBC's coverage website and I went there for my eye exam. I was asked to hand over my spectacle to the staff to check the power, the usual process.After coming back from my exam, I was feeling uncomfortable wearing my glasses and after checking its position on a flat surface I realized that the spectacle is not aligned anymore, has been bent pretty bad, the temples are way broader than it was before. When I called the store, I was told "I'm not sure, we have not done anything to the frame, we just check the power and that doesn't involve the temple, but we can help you if you bring it to the store. But in the process of fixing if something worse happens to it, we'll not be liable. You can try xyz place, they can fix your frame at a cheaper rate." WORST EXPEREINCE. It was expensive frame and they just screwed it up. Not going again.

Wednesday Addams: Tried many times to book appointment online and found their booking system a mess. I've never had such a problem creating an account as their system kept saying I don't have proper credentials. I called today to see if my appointment went through for tomorrow and the lady said no and she didn't even bother trying to make me an appointment for another day. I guess their big advertising campaign didn't work as I will now have to use another optician.

I was trying contacts for the first time and my tutorial session a few days later with them was incredibly helpful and staff were patient and kind with me. I’ve been back twice since and every time it was a great experience!
