Connie Ono: If this is your first time visiting Vancouver, Miku would be my top recommendations on your itinerary list for places to eat. Now, this isn't your typical sushi restaurant, in fact, I would consider this to be fine dining and here's why.When it comes to Japanese food, presentation is the most important next to customer service level, and they are bang on. I absolutely love how intricate their sushi layered to simplicity on a plate. Reminds me of a zen garden. The waiters/ waitress' are knowledgeable of their dishes being served and super friendly! Dishes are, at minimum $20, but the portions are decently sized. (Anything with Wagyu will always be expensive).They do offer gluten -free and vegetarian dishes and non alcoholic drinks.(I had their Shiso Nojito and it was the most refreshing non-alcoholic I've ever had. Keith C: We had the 7 course Kaiseki dinner and were very impressed by the taste of most of the dishes. Also, the portion is very large and we found it quite heavy.Favourites are the insanely tender fillet, the Hokkaido scallop, oyster, and fresh sashimi.Few of the menu items were a miss, such as the Uni (Sea urchin) which we found not fresh at all. And sake pairing was late for one of the courses.Overall, this was a delicious meal and definitely recommended. We would have liked some lighter dishes that were not fatty-protein-focused, or slightly less portion for lower price (like the omakase platter at the end). Bring a large appetite if you are ordering this tasting menu!

t t: Sushi in Vancouver is an obvious choice and I visited Miku recently for the first time. Due to its popularity we weren’t able to get a reservation for dinner but came as a walk in at lunch time!! Great service and atmosphere, views right in the harbour. If you love sushi you 100% need to go here.

Joel Chan: This restaurant was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious and had surprisingly large portions. Our server was professional and attentive. My ribeye steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the sablefish was also delicious. The surf and turf role was excellent and I would order it again. The view was also lovely during dinner.

Claire Blair: Dinner here was great, as always. Amazing food, service and ambience. Was expecting to have steak frites but when that wasn’t on the menu we ordered the bison carpaccio and it was sooo good. The Congolese mussels and broth are so delicious and I’m always surprised how many are in there! Very filling. They have such a great liquor menu too, including hard-to-find Belgian Trappist beers, and Fortaleza tequila. Fun to sit at the bar and converse with the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Mark: Moules Frites - Congolaise - Probably the best/freshest/largest mussels I have ever had. Fries were kind of an afterthought and nothing special but would recommend getting a side of sourdough bread so you don't waste all the sauce.

Aimee & Jenna Hobbs: We were in Vancouver this past weekend and went to Chambar Saturday evening for dinner. Our server Dylan was just lovely. She was knowledgeable about the menu and able to help our thirteen year old who is celiac navigate each of the dishes that could be made gluten free. Several people at our table had mussels conglaise and really enjoyed them. My niece and I had the lamb which was delicious and my son had the steak and ate every single bite. Pablo Santos: I had probably one of my best dinner experiences last night. The restaurant was elegant and cozy, with a beautiful atmosphere. The food was delicious and creative, with a variety of dishes to suit different tastes and preferences. I especially enjoyed the Kobe style shortribs, the fish and the chocolate cake. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made me feel welcome and comfortable. I want to give a special shout-out to Adrien, who was my guide for the night. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list, and he gave me great recommendations based on my preferences. He was also very charming and witty. He really went above and beyond to make my night memorable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a 5 star dining experience in Vancouver. It is worth every penny and more.

Winston Mew: A delicious dinner with excellent service from Liam. A great place to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The seafood plateau was a tasty appetizer sized just right for 2 people. Just love the special fork they have to aid diners with the assorted oysters, mussels, clams, and other tasty treats. The halibut was firm and juicy, and although the steak was medium rather than the medium-rare we requested, it was still juicy and very tasty. We didn’t leave much room for desert, so settled for tasty strawberry & raspberry lemon tarts. Highly recommended for a memorable night out.

Chef Welbert Choi is quietly driven. Everything he does is steeped in his innate creativity. As a Chef he brings a humble, but generous spirit to everything he cooks. His main motivation as a Chef is to have his food be a part of memorable moments.
Welbert was born in Hong Kong. He and his family moved to North Burnaby during his teenage years. He trained at Dubrulle Culinary Institute. His resume includes catering at the Hilton Burnaby, working in the kitchen at Opus’s former restaurant Elixir, and he helped open Forage in 2012 as Pastry Chef. After 2 years, he was given the title of Forage’s Chef de Cuisine. He has run daily operations in the Forage kitchen since that time. Now he is the Executive Chef of Forage, BeSIDE Forage, Forage Shop, and Forage Catering.
Fostering the menu at Forage has deepened his relationships with local producers. He believes that it is the responsibility of all Vancouver chefs to help build long term farming, fishing and foraging legacies in BC for generations to come by working closely with local producers.
He believes that food should bring people and families together, build communities, and be a flavourful part of gatherings and celebrations. He chooses his ingredients with respect, considers the environmental impact of what he brings into the kitchen, and approaches food in a way that celebrates the whole ingredient.

Joanna R: I had an excellent, hearty breakfast here, as I would not get lunch due to travelling at lunchtime.I had the bison hash with sauerkraut, kale, eggs and toast, it was delicious. I felt it was let down by Forage not having freshly ground pepper; the only pepper option was ground in a little shaker; this is a curious decision given the attention to curing meats in-house, and making fresh sourdough etc.If you are in Vancouver and want a hearty, well-prepared breakfast Forage is worth a visit. When I am next in Vancouver I will quite likely eat breakfast here again.

Maira Malik: Went for brunch this morning, the waitress spilled a bowl of berries on me. I was very shocked she didn’t help to clean it, they did not compensate me at all, or do anything to make up for the mishap. Schubert: Start to finish, front to back, great experience on every level and vegetarian friendly!If you are like me, farm-to-table is your go-to criteria for eating in a region you have not been to. For this reason, I picked out Forage for a family dinner during my first visit to Vancouver. Everything we had was just varying degrees of amazing.We started with the Cast Iron Pan Bread which is served in the cast iron. It is warm, sweet and savory, made with local cheddar and spicy honey. It is somewhere in between a mini Detroit style pizza and a sweet fried bread like an apple fritter. From the starters, I assume you should try everything, but do not miss the cast iron bread.Next up we ordered a trio of mains: Mushroom Steak, Pork Crépinette (our one meat dish), and the gnocchi. All three may be the best version of each that I have eaten.The mushroom steak was perfectly tender. Lion’s mane over a celeriac puree with mushroom jus. Topped with crispy onion rings for some crunch. I have a love-hate relationship with mushrooms and this dish is way over on the love side.Two out of my top three all time meat-eating experiences have involved a farm-to-table pork sausage, and Forage’s Crépinette is one of them. The pork crépinette is divine. The loin part is tender and juicy, and the ground sausage is on another level all together. It was topped with an excellent peppercorn sauce as well as a parsley coulis and an apple purée. Three sauces is bold, especially when sausage brings so much flavor to the table but this whole dish was perfectly balanced. Everyone who tried it was blown away.Lastly we had the gnocchi. They were pillowy and soft, topped with brown butter crumb for some crunch and tossed in a delicious nettle cream. The Alpindon cheese also brought some nutty flavor to the dish.To round it all out we had the whiskey spiked vegetables as a side. This was a fine plate of roasted carrots and parsnips. Not that we needed more food, but they rounded out the meal.Finally, against some protest from very full and content diners, I ordered the spice cake to share for the table. This was possibly one of the best desserts I have ever had. The cake was perfectly moist, topped with pickled apples, buttermilk gel, candied orange zest (which blew all of our minds), and a pecan crumble for crunch. Surrounding the cake was an orange custard that we almost came to blows over. I cannot sing this dessert’s praises enough.Our service was fantastic. We were here on a Saturday night and never once felt like we were rushed or off pace with the meal. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful and really made the whole experience great for each of us.Eat at Forage. I know I will return when I am back in Vancouver.Vegetarian options: There are lots of delicious vegetarian options on this menu. We had a great meal and ordered just one dish with meat for the table (out of six).

Haritos Kavallos: Spent a few days at the Listel Hotel and Forage was recommended to me by several folks. The restaurant has a nice modern feel, the staff were welcoming and helpful in their recommendations. If you are into locally sourced and sustainable foods, Forage might be up your alley! I should also mention…. Their sourdough pan bread is an absolute treat and definitely a must if you visit (it’s great as an appetizer or dessert!).

Jeffrey Robinson: We used to come for celebratory dinners pre-pandemic, and came back for one more tonight and left after appetizers, and hungry.The food didn’t disappoint, except the gluten free option for the carpaccio. Freezer burnt udis bread, even rice crackers from no-frills would have been a better option, but honestly at your price point we expect better. My partner decided to endure tomorrow’s pain of gluten in the really tasty sourdough crisps, instead of tonight’s pain of eating the horrible toast.We decided to sit at the bar, because we appreciated the product knowledge and friendly service Forage bartenders have provided us in previous visits. Tonight was a bust - the bartender was abrasive with us, we felt as though we were putting him out by sitting there. We’ve never had a bartender need to warm up to us, this was a first. He did have a great product knowledge and was cheerful, but he saved that for his co-workers. To top things off, he put his hands down his pants at least 20 times to adjust his shirt - is that even food safe?We had a couple of drinks each and three small plates for $150. Honestly, had the service been better our bill would likely have been more than double and his tip significantly larger. Forage and the bartender lost out tonight.Peter the general manager came over to introduce himself early in the (almost) dinner. It was a nice touch, had his standard of service been matched by staff, the night might not have ended up in a stop at McDonalds on our walk home. FYI, the service at McDonalds was much more friendly.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free substitutes were not up to the same standard as the rest of the food.

I'll be back again.Had higher hopes for Forage. 30 mins after we ordered the server told us there was a "glitch" and the order didn't get submitted. We waited a long time for food and they didn't comp anything for the long wait. Food was decent for the price, but not great.
Alois Callemyn: I hate giving a bad review, but this restaurant is the worst place I’ve been to for breakfast. The service is very bad. Our waitress didn’t come very quickly and then couldn’t speak English. She then took forever to bring us coffee. Most restaurants I’ve been to for breakfast greet you with coffee. We then had to flag down someone to ask for a coffee refill. Food came out after a short wait, but no salt and pepper offered.The staff seemed overwhelmed and the tables were way to close, the loud conversation from the couple sitting less than 2’ away was very disturbing.Again, I hate giving a bad review (98% of my reviews are 4+) but feel that future visitors need to be warned.

CutestKitten: Food was average but way overpriced for the quality. My 60$ steak was tough as a glove. The water Mellon salad was half a tomato placed whole on a plate with a piece of feta and Mellon. And to top it off the bar sent me a flat coke with a one inch shard of broken glass that I drank into my mouth and cut my lip. I didn't make a big deal about almost dying because I was in shock and was offered a free desert. But cried alot later in the evening of my bfs bday dinner as I could have died overall not impressed might come back though in a few years

Nicholas Quintillan: Certainly a terrific experience. I’ve known the lead bartender my whole life. He recently won some well-deserved accolades and he truly is the best bartender in Canada and even perhaps the world. A strong statement for sure, however, his cocktails are creative, unique, balanced, and ridiculously flavourful. The service was outstanding and the food was unbelievably great. If you want an “out-of-this-world” experience, come have some drinks and food at Botanist. Highly, highly recommended! It was the best Burrata and Duck I’ve ever had.

Kianna Kho: Came here for dinner. Food, drinks, and service were good during the dinner, but I have to deduct stars because they charged my credit card twice for the $250 dinner. It took 5 phone calls to finally get the refund. I never actually spoke to anyone from the restaurant, only the hotel. Never received a note or apology for the inconvenience, the charge was just quietly refunded to my card and I noticed on my statement.
Joel Chan: We got the three-course brunch and it was delicious. I ordered the charcuterie plate as my appetizer followed by a croque madame and the strawberry coconut panna cotta for dessert. The food was fantastic and I don't know which dish I liked more because it was honestly all good. My wife ordered the hand-cut beef tartare, butter poached lobster benedict, and the milk chocolate coffee mousse. We also got the antioxidant juice, orange juice, and blue moon non-alcoholic cocktail which paired very nicely with our food. Overall great experience with a very friendly, courteous, and professional staff. Even the washrooms were gorgeous.

The food and service are excellent. I ordered the vegetarian dish for my main course and was quite disappointed with the portion size - it was laughably small, fewer than 10 small bites. Kimberly Stephenson: A week after dining here, I'm still trying to wrap my head around how amazing this place was! The drinks, food, atmosphere-- EVERYTHING exceeded expectations. Even the journey to the bathroom was pleasantly surprising; I found myself lingering at the hallway photography exhibits, and feasting my eyes on the bustling lounge below. There was also a live pianist, whose effervescent fingers doled out jazzy covers to pop songs like something out of a 40's noir film. The lighting was perfect (not too bright, not too dim). It's impossible to say the service was inattentive-- they anticipated every refill, every wanton desire for more oatmeal sourdough bread (which was scrumptious). The other culinary standouts were the lamb shanks/belly (which now rivals bacon for me, lol!) and the sour-cream ice cream for dessert. Be prepared to crave another visit! 😝

High Society: The effort is really strong. But execution was disappointing.Expectations may be higher as a European, but don't tell me I'm having 7 courses and one of them is a bread roll. Bread should be standard in a fine dining restaurant. Additionally don't advertise the menu as being all about maple syrup, then bring me samples on a small plate. Include it in the food as that's what was being sold.Online pictures of this restaurant make you think it is a small romantic intimate restaurant. Intimate yes as you know everything that is happening with the table next to you as you're less than metre apart.Service - attentive is an understatement. Serving staff were more of a pest than help. I understand that hospitality doesn't get paid what they should and tips are everything. But being interrupted constantly to be asked non important questions very frustrating. I'll tip you more if you leave us alone.Food that was served was lovely, but nothing I wouldn't expect in a bistro in France. Foie gras does not need to be in every dish it's a luxury item that ruins the other flavours . Don't serve fancy peasant food then slap a ridiculous cost on it.Would I recommend?: Maybe if the costs came down.

Mark Cheng: Finally went to this restaurant after wanting to go since it opened. At the time, it was their Cabane à Sucre set course meal. It was a lot of their classics plus dishes with a maple syrup theme.For me, it was worth the billing as the food overall tasted very good considering that many of the dishes could be overpowering. But the best way I can describe it was that the food was balanced. Nothing too sweet, too salty, or too heavy.Glad I went, definitely will come back another time and definitely deserved as one of Vancouver's best restaurants.

Mark Steinfeld: Food and service was great. My only complaint is that when you reserve a table - they charge you a mandatory 20% tip (on top of taxes). This is an outrageous practice since tip is suppose to be based on service AFTER your meal. Please don't make your customers subsidize your employee's wages. Won't be dining here again unless they drop this silly charge.

We made the right decision to come one week before otherwise we wouldn't have been seated by the window.The view of coal harbour and the snow topped mountains were incomparable and serene. The ambiance and decor was also excellent.Our server was attentive and welcoming.We ordered the $65 pp high tea service which came with a small selection of tea. Certain choices required additional cost. We also ordered a la cart caviar. The variety and portions of food was perfect. We even had left overs!I would've given 5 stars if the tea selection was larger.Overall I'd recommend visiting this restaurant and would definitely come back for other special occasions.

From the GM Jason to his Greeter and to Jordan our server The staff was warm. Friendly. Knowledgeable and attentive. And hugely welcoming. Thanks so much.The tea started with a wonderful glass of bubbly. Followed by tasty tea I tried the Nutcracker black tea. Flavours of hazelnut and vanilla. Yummy. And the food which followed was exquisite Presentation alone earned outstanding marks. But the variety and flavours and textures of the offerings was outstanding. I even tried some of the caviar Bit of a rookie on that but it was very enjoyable. Definitely worth trying. Neat taste sensationsJason. Thanks so much for hosting the three of us. Josh Bateman: We went to Five Sails to celebrate our 3rd year anniversary. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived and the hostess accommodated my reservation requests and gave us a great table with the most amazing view of the harbour. Shawn was our Waiter who was very friendly and attentive all evening. Shawn went above and beyond to make sure we both had a memorable anniversary. They surprised us at the end with a happy anniversary dessert. I would highly recommend Five Sails!
CHANEL SATTARA: If I could give this amazing place, view, and the exceptional service more than 5 stars I absolutely would. This the was the best dining experience I've ever had, and I'm a major foodie so that says a lot. The view is breathtaking, the service is so personal and warm, they also have VEGAN options. Sahiba Speaks: Honestly this place definitely impressed me. Their customer service was above and beyond. Very loving and make you feel more than comfortable and accepted. Everyone was treated with the utmost respect and love. The customer service they gave us was just incredibly beautiful to the point where I was simply touched. We need more places like you. Thank you for treating us with love and giving us an experience where we want to come back and tell others how amazing you are. The food was fabulous and so were the drinks. I am in love with the drinks... gorgeous... The atmosphere and the energy are just breathtaking. You will leave feeling apreaciated and like a king. Bishop’s has been on my list for a while and glad we made it.An amuse bouche (croquette) compliments of the chef was a nice way to start our meal. We had their Dungeness crab and sockeye salmon cake with grilled asparagus and a lemon-basil mayo. Very nicely done and perfectly cooked & bursting with flavour.For the first main, we enjoyed their pan roasted halibut fillet with watercress, broccolini and pistachio sauce. Beautifully prepared and the sauce paired very well with halibut.I loved their roasted duck breast. A stunning dish and perfectly cooked with apples, carrots and pomme purée.A beautiful way to end the meal with their earl grey madelins, maple almonds and candied ginger. Their service throughout is excellent and made the experience so much better!
Maling Sun: Bishop’s is the restaurant to celebrate special events in a romantic setting. The food was exquisite and beautifully plated. The service was impeccable with multiple staff ensuring our dining experience was perfect. The amuse bouche was a nice touch. The Dungeness Crab and Sockeye Salmon Cake was yummy as it was moist with forward crab and salmon taste. If you enjoy fish protein you won’t be disappointed with Pan Roasted Halibut Fillet. I enjoyed the pistachio sauce and spring vegetables with the halibut. Roasted Duck Breast was rich and decadent. We thoroughly enjoyed dining in at Bishop’s Restaurant.
