Wesbrook Parent Participation Preschool: what do users think?
Lauren Zaremba: I love the play-based curriculum at Wesbrook Preschool. Mondays, Wesbrook Preschool offers soccer lessons taught by Happy Feet at nearby Trimble Park. Tuesdays involve music & movement, with yoga being offered. Wednesdays, teachers lead the class in baking/cooking activities. Thursdays are for science/STEM activities, with the class doing hands-on experiments. Both of my kids are always excited by the learning provocations provided by the teachers. Thank you Teacher Debra and the Wesbrook team!
Lynette McClenaghan: My son is in the 2's program and we absolutely love it! When we walk past the school he asks to go in. The structure of the school is great - but the teachers and the parent involvement aspect are what make this school truly special. Teachers Jasmina and Nalini provide guidance, have the utmost care for their kids and make every day special for them. Parent involvement brings this community closer together. If you're looking for a place for your kids to learn and explore, teachers that guide your toddlers, and a great community, I encourage you to check out Wesbrook.
Lisa LaFleur: We love being a part of this parent involvement preschool. We remain super connected to my son and have found some amazing friends in a new community of families. Teacher Jasmina is a wealth of knowledge and experience. She was amazing at helping my cautious boy become comfortable in the classroom. It took us a few months but with patience, kindness and a slow approach we were able to leave our son for the morning class and he felt safe and happy being there. He was always very happy when my partner or I came for duty days but he felt safe in Jasmina's care when we were not there. Very excited to start the 4's class this fall.
Gloria Wang: Jasmina is an excellent teacher and it is a great group of kids!
Lara Osen: I love this school! The teacher, Jasmina, is enthusiastic and engaged and is so interested in the children; who they are and what they can accomplish. I believe my children are the kind, generous people that they are in large part due to what they have learned at Wesbrook. In addition, this school builds the most amazing community and lifelong friendships….both for my children and myself. It is truly a special place!
Jennifer Hardy: Our family has found Wesbrook preschool to be an incredible school for our children. Through Jasmina's careful and thoughtful teaching techniques she allows the children to express themselves, and helps them to discover new areas of learning, play and social fun. My kids could not wait to get to school, and never wanted to leave at home time. I would absolutely recommend this preschool to any parent considering it.
Thomas Pan: It's not easy finding a good play-based preschool. I have no words to express just how much I wish I found Wesbrook when my son was 2.The class starts outside across the street from the school. It's a sizeable play park with many different play areas. There is a shed full of trikes, a triple wagon and sand toys. The teachers often bring a new element of play outside (ie: tents, parachute, even setting up the sand area to dig up dino bones!). The teachers conduct head counts repeatedly during outdoor time. After an hour or so, earlier on music Tuesday's, the class walks in formation to the huge preschool room. A great deal of thought, organization and care goes into the indoor program. There's a new theme every month (ie: space, insects, etc). A new art or craft to do daily. What I love the most is how much Jasmina encourages discussion during story time and show and tell. In fact, what sets her way above other preschool teachers is how much she encourages communication between all the kids. I noticed immediately on the day I first checked out the school, the incredible difference between this group of kids compared to those of my previous preschools, and I have observed many different preschools in the city. I was truly impressed by the way the kids readily and respectfully communicated their needs, intentions and resolutions to conflict. Of course, the teachers would intervene on occasion but again, mostly to facilitate communication between the kids. Sometimes, Jasmina would have to find out what was bothering a child and then would walk the child over to the other child announcing that she had something to say. She would guide the discussion between the kids to the end. Sometimes, she would have to sit down with a child to discuss her actions. I have never seen a preschool teacher so actively guide children in communication. Children really need this hands-on guidance. Children can work out many conflicts on their own if given the chance, but not always. Jasmina will always provide guidance and modeling when needed.I have never known a teacher to know her kids as well as Jasmina knew her kids. I have never known a teacher to know what was going on in her classroom as much as Jasmina did. The preschool room is huge but not so huge that she can't keep a watchful eye on everything, which she does more than any other preschool teacher I have met. She's human, of course. She doesn't see absolutely everything and for anyone to expect it is unrealistic, but she catches most things.I have also never known a teacher to put so much care and thought into a preschool program. There are many field trips (ie: library, fire hall, beach days, UBC gym). The Mother's Day and Father's Day events are so lovely and wonderful, and a significant amount of work for the teachers. There is so much of a variety in the activities at Wesbrook compared to my previous preschools. My son has been around the block. He started at VSOCC and I pulled him out after a month. I pulled him out of Waldorf after 8 mos. He lasted 3 mos. at another PPP school. At each school, my son had bad experiences with another kid. By the time my son started at Wesbrook he was always intensely anxious and did not trust other kids at all. He started at Wesbrook in February. He trusted Jasmina and Ann. He came out of his shell during story time and show and tell, especially. He grew to trust some of the other kids. Kids would act out in this class, too, of course, but Jasmina was all over it. In just a few months, under Jasmina's vigilant influence, my son's anxiety started to ebb for the first time since he started preschool at 3 years of age.Jasmina is the teacher of the 3's class in the morning and 4's class in the afternoon. She has been teaching at Wesbrook for almost 20 years. You couldn't ask for a better, more loving, more experienced preschool teacher or a better program with so much variety in activities.I drove to Wesbrook from downtown. It was worth it.
Frank Heinzelmann: Gread play-based preschool - teacher Jasmina is very experienced with kids, collaborates well with new teacher Ann - all our kids have been there (our youngest is in her last year) - great location with Trimble Park right across - this PPP business seems overwhelming initially, but it comes naturally once you get the hang of it - duty days are great fun and educating (for the parent) - I love this preschool!
Melissa Kanavos: My third daughter is now in the 4's class and is having the time of her life! She is so happy to go to school and I know that it is because she feels safe and loved. My older kids cherish their memories of preschool and still play with the friends they made when they were 3 and 4!
A Giesen: Wesbrook Preschool is wonderful. The teachers are excellent and create a nurturing, fun-filled environment which really instills a love of learning. The facilities are bright and well-equipped and the parent community is fun. I can't say enough good things about it!
MA G: We love Wesbrook! The teachers are kind, caring and fun. The arts and music program is outstanding! Huge, bright classroom and the park across the street is good for daily outdoor time.
E Thornton: My son started his preschool experience in 2011 at Wesbrook in the 3's program, and has continued through the 4's class. This program has been very rewarding for him in a multitude of ways, and has been an invaluable experience for me as a parent. He is such a confident, happy and curious little man - very much supported and nurtured by the play-based learning program and the wonderful teachers at Wesbrook.I am grateful for the opportunity to be involved in his preschool education and social network - Parent Participation is definitely worth the (surprisingly manageable/flexible) time and effort. The location is wonderful - right beside a large park, which is used extensively by the program, and well integrated into the community. The indoor space is quite large compared to other preschools we "shopped", and the staff are both creative, affectionate, encouraging and supportive to students and parents. Bonus - being new to the area, I've also met some wonderful parents and made some lasting relationships myself! Thanks again Wesbrook Preschool - I know Kindergarten will be a much easier road to travel, with your influence under my son's belt!
A Gibson: Our family LOVES Wesbrook Preschool. We started at Wesbrook in 2012 and have really loved becoming involved in our son's education and the community. The school itself is fantastic with two large classrooms, a kitchen, and is located directly across the street from a playground that they visit often. The teachers approach each child as a unique individual, taking time to know how to best support each and every child. We truly love Wesbrook and look forward to being apart of the school for many years.

Extra Steps Preschool: what do users think?
Selena Tang: My son has a very good school life here. He has fun everyday in school and the teachers are so caring. He loves to go to school since we changed to Extra Steps Preschool.
Jessica Lau: We family loves Extra Steps! My elder son was originally attending one academic preschool and not happy so that we changed him to Extra Steps another year. It’s not only about the happiness (of course he couldn’t wait to be back everyday) but he just became a brighter, kindhearted, open mind kid in the single year with all the perfect teachers and friends, this is the most important foundation for kids I believe. Few years later we sent our younger kid there and receiving much more loves. All the teachers are amazing, they give all their love and care and support to their kids and, parents!! They are real people with flexible work. I would be way more happier to give more stars to Extra Steps than 5.
Amanda Regamble: This preschool has been perfect for our son! The teachers care so much about the kids. Our son is always excited for pre school - what more can you ask for!
Scot Sustad: We've sent both of our girls to Extra Steps. They are a couple of years apart, so the fact that we sent both of them says a lot.The teachers are kind, caring, and consistent. Our kids really loved the teachers and we appreciate how fun and attentive they were. The school is well organized and they've been doing this for a long time.
Chrissi Vi: Our daughter is now for a year with Extra Steps and she just loves it and she can't wait for each day to come on which she goes there to see her friends and teachers. This paly oriented preschool is just amazing, the teachers are super lovely and very engaged.I really appreciate the outstanding communication the teachers provide to us parents, anything and everything gets announced and shared ahead of time or if something comes up (positive or challenging) with our little ones, it will be discussed right away with us parents. What I personally extremely value is that this preschool takes our little ones outside to nearby playgrounds and parks every day, shine or rain, for a good amount of time.I can't be happier that our little one is able to enjoy this loving, engaged and fun environment. Thanks so much, Extra Steps Team!
Amos: Pretty great little place. My daughter goes there. It's a bit expensive.
Lloyd Burr: My son has been attending Extra Steps for over a year; he loves the teachers, his friends and the environment. Robb and Sarah run a great program that gives the children lots of fun & freedom while teaching routine & social skills. Weather permitting there are local excursions outside and when inside there are many activities to engage with. Looking forward to sending my youngest there when he's old enough.

Montessori World Preschool: what do users think?
DK: Montessori World is a special school. My son was shy but over the course of the schoolyear he has become much more social. Now, on weekends he asks why he cant go to school. I am impressed with the curriculum, field trips and extra curricular options. The school even has Mandarin and French lessons. Jelena, the principal, is devoted and passionate about engaging with her students and was very available to speak with.
Sandy Wong: My eldest went to Montessori World two years ago and now my 4 year old is attending. Ms Jelena is the school principal and she is absolutely amazing. She truly adopts the Montessori method into the classrooms in the most traditional sense. There are so many other schools we’ve experienced where they claim they are following the Montessori method but are not. This school is truly the gem in the haystack. The only downfall is that they only offer half day but despite that, I feel like my son is getting so much more out of 3 hrs at this school verses a full day at another school.
Isher Litt: All the staff is supportive and friendly, especially Ms. Yelena. They care for each student and it is a safe environment for the kids to be in. Excellent school, that is clean and tidy. With field trips being organized every month that the kids are happy to go on, where they are able to learn something new. Pleased with the amount of knowledge my student has picked up from Montessori World Preschool. Would definitely recommend the school to other family and friends.

Julia Du: Six years ago when I was looking for a preschool for my boys, all of my neighbors recommended this preschool. It has been in the neighborhood for almost half a century and all the teachers we met are amazing !My boys made so many friends there and me too.I am so excited that they still hang out with their preschool BFF and me too:-)
L J: Great teachers with love..I think here is the best preschool in Vancouver..!!
Jen Lee: Love the school and teachers! We are so lucky to met teacher alexandra and janice!!We will miss this school.
Helen Shen: The teachers are very supportive and nurtures an environment that encourages learning through play. Monthly speaker series are fun and informative. Our child loves coming to school. We love coming to school with her!
Tyler Sork: Excellent preschool! Really love the fact that they have a class for 2 yr. old's since not all preschools do (Parents/caregivers have to remain onsite). Teachers are great and there's lots of different things for kids to do. Large outdoor playground for when the weather is nice.
Shauna Begley: My son has just started at Little People and we have definitely made the right choice! From the space, to the teachers, to the other parents & kids... what a great environment. Learning through play... it's a concept we should all live by!
A. Barner: The teachers and parents are amazing. Everyone is dedicated to making sure the children are involved, interested and excited.
Stephanie Kauffman: Both of our boys have attended Little People's Preschool and we feel so fortunate to have found this gem of a school in our neighbourhood. Every day there is something new to explore, whether on the science table, the "office" and house play areas or climbing apparatuses - perfect for curious young minds. The teachers are not stuck to a stagnant calendar routine, but circle times are full of lively, age-appropriate discussions about what is happening in the world and in the kids' lives. They go on really neat field trips and incorporate many different cultural celebrations. As a mom, I have loved being involved in the preschool and for the opportunity to watch my children interact in the preschool environment. Little People is a school where the whole family is involved and supported.
Jill Wood: Great school, great teachers, and great parents! We've been there for four years and have two more years to go, and we love it. The teachers are creative, interactive, and love to do just about anything with the kids. We've experienced Hawaiian parties, making pasta, painting with potatoes, playing dress up, sawing/nailing wood, and the list goes on and on!!
Jill Karlen Fletcher: This will be my fourth and final year as a "participating" parent at this great preschool and I know I will be extremely sad come next June when it ends. Both my sons have gone to Little People's Preschool, my youngest currently in his last year. I would highly recommend this preschool to anyone who loves being a part of their child's education and who appreciates a play-based curriculum with teachers who really care and who are extremely creative in their thoughts and how they teach the children. The children learn by doing. It is a very hands-on preschool with a very go-with-the-flow attitude that suits me and my boys. I have met some great people here, some who I know will remain friends for years to come. There is never a dull moment at Little People's Preschool.
Rebecca Pitfield: It is our daughter's second year at Little People Preschool. We can't say enough about this preschool. The preschool itself is spacious, cozy and clean. The teachers are fantastic and it attracts a fabulous group of parents that are all devoted to the their kids and the school. Our daughter comes home full of new knowledge and bubbling with stories. Most importantly we see her thriving socially and gaining confidence by the day thanks to devoted teachers that really understand what it takes to turn toddlers into bright, curious, caring young children ready to face the challenges of elementary school.

My Whole Earth Academy: what do users think?
Cici Lee: New review..The principal here truly put the kids education first before anything.. we’ve missed classes or missed coming to school then because of Covid but unlike other school .. she understands and put priorities of kid’s education..she kindly let us coming back and forth or even went online classes to work things out… both of my kid love the Principle and teachers here.. they loving coming to class. Principle is amazing and you will know that kids are in good hands.Thankyou jennifer…..My whole earth academy isan amazing school, with wonderful friendly staff and good principal. Both of my kids love going to the school , before Covid existed I use to bring my son to class and spend hours with him together in the classroom to learn and to play. The environment is clean and the teacher is very nice kind and helpful. Now with my other son that is older in kindergarten , all I need to do is drop off to class for few hours and pickup (sign in and out with app on the phone )very safe and convenient. My son love going to school. Ms Margaret is always there to help when I reach out. Wonderful staff Thankyou.
Rex Liao: We were supposed to be there for a trial class and our son started crying in the elevator. There was an Asian lady who turned out to be a staff/teacher there, was also in the elevator with us. She looked at us with disgust/despise. When we were at the door, she blocked us and told us to wait outside as the class start at 9am, a tone and expression that no teacher should ever have. It was 8:54am, but ok. Then we got a missed call at 8:55am; before we realized this, Margaret came out and told us that their teacher called in sick and that she had already informed us with a call (5 min before class starts?). She told us a reschedule is necessary, but never informed us a day. Margaret was nice enough to let us in for a tour despite our child was crying, but we don't feel that there is empathy or responsibility from all staff and I assume there is a 0 tolerance policy for crying kids.
Inderveer Mahal: My son recently started here and teacher Asma and Ken are so great! We are in the prep class and my nanny loves the environment for him. I’m so glad we found My Whole Earth!
M K: My daughter loves this school.Edit: I'm adding to this review now that my second daughter is attending (3 years later). We loved it before and gave 5 stars, but this school is even better than before. The teacher's are so great and my daughter is learning so much. Teacher Miss Mekdes Gete is a real score for the school - she is fantastic. Administration/communication has improved with the new office administrator.
Daniel Andrew: We sent our daughter to My Whole Earth Academy for preschool last year after a difficult situation with another preschool and we couldn't be more happy with the care and attention she receives from the amazing teaching staff. Ms. Jenn is an absolute rockstar of an early child educator and has developed a program that teaches cooperation and compassion. When COVID first started, they were quick to develop a Zoom program for the families that couldn't have kids in the classroom - no easy feat for a class of 3-4 year olds but they have done such a good job. Our daughter loves all the teachers and has made great friendships. The school families are all very welcoming. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND for anyone looking for a preschool/JK program for their kids.
Bahar Hafezi: My Daughter has been attending the school since she was 18 month old, she was on the prep side all the way till this January. We decided she is ready to move to the pre school side the teachers made the transition amazing and smooth. I feel very comfortable leaving her in the morning. She loves the school and enjoys attending very much. The programs are great and with the pandemic I must say it is very clean and they do follow all the sanitary pre caution necessary. I highly recommend this school. Thanks to all the amazing teachers and staff.
Coco H: I love this school not only the location but all the teachers and all the activities! They are so thoughtful and professional and not just baby sitting, actually teaching them based on Montessori and playing. My daughter loves going to the class each day from the prep class since she was 2years old. There are different theme each week or month to learn about by exploring and playing(like The Earth, Ocean, Planets, Animals, Culture, letters and numbers) It seems like the 3hours class is always fully filled up with all the activities which is I love it as a parent. It was a fortune that we could find MWE and meet miss Jen, ms Elvina, ms Basma, ms Thi and ms Mekdes for my daughter😊
Liang Lingling: My son was having virtual zoom classes with My whole earth academy for a year now. I don't know how to use my words to express how grateful that we meet Miss Jen. She is the best teacher we have met ever. She is patient, enthusiastic, peace and love. She cares every student in the class, cares all of their feelings and improvement. We are now in US, during the pandemic, my son did not go to school for safety reason. But thanks to My whole earth academy and Miss Jen, My son enjoys learning in Zoom for this whole year. I will give 5 stars for the teacher and the service we have.
Krysten Casumpang: My three-year-old son attends the Montessori Inspired Preschool program at My Whole Earth Academy and it’s been a wonderful experience so far. The student to teacher ratio is low, the classrooms are bright and clean and they are filled with lots of toys and learning materials. The school does a fantastic job of working with individual families to meet each child’s needs. The teachers are the best part of My Whole Earth Academy. They are kind, caring and supportive and they never hesitate to fill me in on my child’s progress at the end of every class; my son absolutely adores them. The level of education my son is receiving is quite impressive. In a short period of time his letter writing and counting skills have increased dramatically and he has become so much more self-sufficient. Choosing My Whole Earth Academy was a really good decision for my family and I cannot recommend it enough!
Angel Leung: During this pandemic year, Saffi has started her pre-school program at MWE. We feel so grateful that teachers and all school staffs are being so patient and making extra efforts to provide a safe and wonderful learning environment for the kids. Love their programs too!Kids are encouraged to express themselves, to learn to communicate with each other while arts, music and reading elements are well introduced to the kids at school. Saffi has learned and grown a lot throughout the year!Lovely kids and friendly parents as well!👍🏻
Maggie Hou: Both of my sons have been in this school for 3 years, and had many good memories throughout the years. We joined their Parent Participation class when they were 18 months old. As a parent, I found it was a quality time to learn with your kids. At the same time, you will develop a close relationship with the teachers, children and other parents, and will also learn many useful skills such as parenting, kids behaviors and activities. Teachers there are very caring and willing to help every single families' needs. They also have a great way to transition your kid to their preschool class. They will spend time and prepare your kid's readiness before transitioning to preschool, so that you don't have to worry about separation anxiety. Even when you are in the preschool side, teachers will allow parents to stay if they worry about their kid. One of my favorite program is their monthly field trips and themes. From solar system, weather, nature, transportation to botanic study, they inspired kid's learning with their curiosity at an early age. Their class activities are very fun for kids including science experiments, STEM, cooking, yoga, arts and crafts. Kids learn something new and practical everyday. Not only that, during our virtual classes in this pandemic, the school did not just send us home, they actually offer many creative activities to do online together with all classmates. They plan every week's theme with very innovative activities, and keep children interactive in front of a screen. We are very grateful that we found Miss Jennifer and her school team. My sons will always remember the fun time in this preschool.
Brittany Alda-Copeland: My daughter has been attending this school since she was 2.5 years old. She is now going into Kindergarten in Sept 2019. Thanks to Jenn and the teachers at My Whole Earth, my daughter has been able to surpass the developmental milestones typically set out for her age group from the moment she started going to this school. As a parent, my favorite things about this school are their teaching methods ( I have to admit, I've learned a thing or two about parenting and child development during this time as a result of the level of care for each child ), along with the collaboration between parents and teachers to ensure the child's success both at school and at home. One of the highlights of my day is when my daughter comes home from school and shares with me what she has learned, often in song form. She has learned many life skills in addition to the required academic building blocks. She has excelled in english, math, art, and science all thanks to the teachers at MWEA. I think her proudest achievement is the ability to read and write her own name, along with being an early reader practicing simple words in children's books. All before Kindergarten! Thank you Jenn and MWEA Staff for providing a safe, structured, and encouraging environment. I will be sure to send my youngest to this school in the near future.
YR R: Worst school experience, on our first day, my 19month child was playing with some musical instruments and one the the teacher was afraid that my child will break it, so she grabbed the tambourine out of her hand and put it behind her……The teacher was playing a plastic box as a drum, and she’s not worried if it will break since it’s already half broken? My child is only 19 month and she took the chance to let her discover and learn, without teaching her with patience. After circle time that teacher stood up walking with out care and bumped into my child and kicked her into a very sharp table corner, dented her forehead and my child started bleeding. The whole classroom wasn’t protected, but right after this happened they started to put up all the protection for sharp corners……I was very upset and disappointed. The principal also called me after, but her phone call made me felt worse, and she said she was going to check back with me and I never received another phone call from her!My child has a scar on her forehead and the dent is still there after more than a month.I have taken my child to many daycare and community center, and we are still waiting to be called on a few wait list, since this school has opening, I thought I could take her there for the time being, but This is the worst school we have been to, and I suggest moms that wants to apply think twice, because they are very unprofessional. If this system could let me choose no star, I wouldn’t have given one.
