Uphoria Yoga: what do users think?
Annelies Tjebbes: I absolutely love Uphoria Yoga. I found it an amazing sanctuary when I was pregnant and needing movement for my body and solidarity with other pregnant people for my soul. I now go to baby and me classes with my little one and it's such a special experience. The Uphoria team is amazing and makes you feel so welcome, cared for, and supported. I hope all childbearing folks consider going to Uphoria, they won't regret it!
Kimberly Little: We hosted my daughter's 2nd birthday here and it was so much fun! The staff were so kind and accommodating, the space is beautiful and the kids had a lot of fun! I would highly recommend this place for a birthday party and for other yoga related activities!
Emily Munro-Russel: Had our son’s 5th birthday at Üphoria Yoga. Excellent space, great activities for the kids, would highly recommend it.
Rita Farkas: We held our daughter's 5th birthday party at Uphoria. The staff are lovely and managed a large group of excited 5 year olds no problem. Beautiful space with fun activities. Highly recommend.
Elizabeth Peters: We had our son’s 4th birthday party at Uphoria Yoga and it was such a wonderful, memorable celebration! Tara and the Birthday team were so helpful, friendly and accommodating. They were super flexible based on the kids interests and energy levels. They offered a superhero mask making activity for the kids, which was a hit. The venue is beautiful and accommodated the kids and adults very well For food, cake, presents, art, dancing and yoga. We would highly recommend Üphoria to anyone hosting a kids yoga-themed birthday bash!
Jason Liu: We had our daughter’s 7th birthday and Tara went above and beyond. She curated all of our daughter’s favourite songs, made sure she knew everything about mermaids — it was the theme of the party. She supported us with decorations as we were trying to blow up the balloons and thread the sign. I forgot to bring a knife and she even went to a near by store to grab it while we hosted. Her hospitality was amazing, and the yoga with scarf was a hit with all the kids. Everyone including the parents were wow by her. Thank you for making it her best party ever quotes our little girl
Janice V [she]: We booked our child's birthday party here and it was the best money spent to make the celebration stress-free and enjoyable for everyone, including the parents. Tara was a pleasure to work with and the space is welcoming, unique, modern and calming, just as one would hope for in a yoga studio and a relaxing space for a fun celebration. Loading food/decorations into the space was fast and easy with parking right infront of the studio (even when there is snow they kept is cleaner than most other streets). Before this party, we've always hosted at our house or outdoors in a public park. Just imagine not having to clean your house before or after a party, to be able to prepare only lights snacks and minimal decorations and have an enjoyable time catching up with adults while the party activities are child-focused guided by an ECE professional. The value is better than comparable kids' birthday packages in the region.I have also attended a sound bath event here in the past and a parent-tot yoga class. My 5yo has enjoyed week-long yoga camps and looked forward to going and returned happy and calm each day. There's good reason Uphoria was voted Best Yoga Studio in Vancouver. Because they are, especially for families with young children. Thank you Tara and the Uphoria Yoga team for all you do for our community.
Diana Kovač: We celebrated our daughter's 3rd birthday at Uphoria and had a great experience. Tara organized the kids and kept them engaged with yoga, dancing and crafts in the big yoga room, while parents could choose to either join in with kids or mingle in the other party room where we all later had cake. It was a fun social event for both kid and adults.
Sonali George: After having a bad first trimester, I joined Üphoria yoga from my 13th week of pregnancy and it has been a wonderful experience. For someone who hasn't practiced much yoga before, Teresa made me feel very welcome and guided me well on how to do the exercises.I enjoyed going to the classes here, learnt really helpful breathing and labour exercises, and felt more confident in managing my body during pregnancy,I highly recommend Üphorias prenatal classes.
Jordana Shani: Our kiddo recently did both part time & full time camps here over the summer and had such a wonderful time! Every day he came back home super happy and so proud to show us all of the cool new breathing techniques, self regulation strategies and fun yoga poses he learned. He's already asked if he can go back for winter break camps :) Our family cannot say enough good things about the kid programs here! It's really awesome to have a family studio like this in the city.
Robyn Smith: We attended their summer camp and had a great time! They were very welcoming and accommodating. Our little one had a blast!
Krista Macaulay: Wow, my girls had an amazing time at Summer Camp with Tara and staff. They always ask when we are going back. Thank you Tara for such a great program.
Fabia Leoni: So nice! Very welcoming, friendly and warm enviroment. The staff is great and the owners are so lovely. Did some prenatel Yoga sessions there and can't wait to go back with baby to do some more classes.
L R: I’m glad to find this place. Prenatal yoga class is very helpful for relaxing my body.
Vrinda Sharma: I have been sending my daughter to Uphoria Yoga since she was 3 years old. This is the perfect place for a wholesome experience of yoga and fun! Uphoria Yoga has created programs that suit your child’s need which is a great way to introduce yoga to your child. Their methodology is simple yet fun. They teach lots of poses/ postures by way of music and songs which makes the program very attractive for 3-5 year olds. Summer gets more interesting With “summer camps” where children stay engaged the whole day with arts and craft, music, dance parties and finally the much awaited obstacle course. All in all as a parent I would view Uphoria yoga as a good mix of physical and fun activities!
SH H: We held our sons birthday party here on Sunday and had amazing experience with Tara. Highly recommend to talk to Tara if you want to do birthday party. Tara is super welcoming and helpful from the beginning to end. we had some different decoration ideas and Tara is very patient with me:) Kids had so much fun at yoga class and dance party with Tara and the other instructor. There were also arts and craft too! Thank you for the amazing team Uphoria yoga!
Jennifer Maloney Adab: Our son loved his yoga camp and keeps asking to go back! He's now teaching me deep breaths and all his favourite poses. Thanks for the awesome intro into yoga! Can't wait to come back with him:)
Jonathan Polak: The kids camps here are amazing. Tara and Emma are great with kids. My two kids love it here. We've been back two years in a row. Thank you!
Maria Peixoto: I’ve enjoyed very much my pre and post natal classes at Üphoria yoga. They have knowledgeable teachers that help you exercise in a safe way. It’s also a great place to connect with other mothers and share experiences.Try their yoga in the park! Loved it!
Doris L: My daughter has been attending their preschool yoga class. She came home and told us the yoga poses that she learned from the class. I'm so glad that she had so much fun there. The owners and staffs are always friendly. Awesome teacher and very clean and beautiful studio. Highly recommend!
Rimi Hans: We held our daughter's birthday party today at Uphoria Yoga and had an amazing experience. Tara was so helpful throughout the whole process. She was ready to assist logistically and checked in during the party to see if our needs were being met. The kids had a wonderful time from the yoga class to the craft activity and the dance party. The facility is amazing and the yoga space is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this facility if you want to hold a unique birthday party for your little one. Thank you Uphoria Yoga for such a great memory!

YYOGA Yoga Teacher Training: what do users think?
Ghazal: I went to a Flow class with Emily and I absolutely loved it. Emily is really knowledgeable and she guides the class really well. The room was spacious and we had enough room to move. The studio is cozy. They have lockers by the entrance and a nice changing room with washroom and showers.Overall, I had a great experience. I do recommend YYoga West Sixth.
Tyler Standen: Fantastically clean and pleasant facility. The sauna is a nice touch before class!
Chris Ho: Just my favorite yyoga studio
Jo P.: The front desk on duty on 3/23 was very helpful. She was patient, detailed and very efficient. I look forward to go back to studio practice now!
Sera A: I have been to many different YYOGA studios and while I love the studio and chloe who was teaching, I was concerned about the cleanliness and health and safety during my entire class. The front desk did not check vaccinations, there was DUST, HAIR, and foreign DEBRIS all over the floor.. so while I was trying my best to get through the class..I cannot help but be annoyed and grossed out at the floor. It literally takes 30 sec to take a swifter duster if anything. This was definitely not the experience I expected from YYOGA as I have always thought of it as being a luxurious studio.
Teresa: I really like to show my appreciation for Quynh Mi who takes the pandemic seriously, probably one of the few with my experience with Yyoga classes. She reminds the class to nose breathe and because she is talking she keeps her mask on. She is already a great instructor but my regard for her is definitely increased because of how mindful she is during this difficult time. Thank you, Quynh. I have been with Yyoga for years and, unfortunately, will not be renewing when my membership ends because I find it really frustrating instructors are not more vigilant.
Andrea Lyman: Fantastic studio! This is a hidden gem.
Amy S: Haven't been since covid started but love this yoga studio!
Rebecca Neild: Beautiful studio space, the props and mats are wonderful quality. The instructors are great, I cannot recommend Lisa enough. The demographic of the people is very particular therefore I don’t always feel welcomed in the space with my tattoos and bright hair. Because of this I’ll move on to YYOGA at home.
Mehdi: Just fine.
Jean Robson: Great classes, polite staff and nice studio, but the floor in the studio was terribly dirty, covered in hair and dust bunnies - pretty disgusting.
Taste Creativity: Very small studio. Great class. No bike storage but was able to leave my bike inside after a struggle.
Coral Lewis: My favourite yyoga studio, small and quiet with a beautiful peaceful yoga room.

Dancing Star Birth: what do users think?
Ilenia Dal Castello: Great course! Our instructor Michelle was very inclusive :) Highly recommend it for LGBTQ+ families
Andrea Šrolová: I can’t imagine a better prenatal preparation. It helped my partner to get involved and both of us to communicate our thoughts, hopes and expectations. Apart from that, the course was very informative and practically focused.I recommend it!
Anees Khorram: Highly recommend this class for all expecting parents. We had Bethany as our instructor. She was amazing. Kept things very engaging, a lot of room for questions and discussion, and kept everything light and fun.
Karina Chumachenko: My partner and I had an amazing experience with Dancing Star Birth prenatal classes. We loved that we had a chance to learn about birth from absolutely different perspectives and experiences. Every class we had a safe space for a discussions with other couples expressing their concerns and opinions about birth. Best part is how respectful everyone is in that space. We felt how our couple became closer after this experience of learning about birth. We want to thank Bethany for being an amazing mentor all the way through ❤️
Eilis Whelan: I took prenatal classes with Dancing Star for the past 6 weeks. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. My instructor, Dori, was extremely kind, approachable, and welcoming. I loved the small class sizes as we got to know all the other couples a bit, and have even formed a group to stay in touch and have a baby meetup in the future. My only wish is that a bit more time focused on newborn care and a bit less time focused on labour. But overall I would recommend Dancing Star!
Canan Alsaihaty: We attended a prenatal class with Dori and she was great at validating everyone's feelings while also preparing us realistically for birth. I was NOT looking forward to having to give birth and I can say that the class took away a lot of my anxiety and made me have more realistic expectations. It also helped a ton in giving me confidence when it came to my birthing plan and taught us strategies on how to make sure that we make informed medical decisions.Dori made sure to include the partners and their roles, which I loved as talking about birth is often centred solely around the person giving birth.I would recommend taking a prenatal class with Dori to any first-time parents-to-be!
P L: Niki does a fantastic job teaching! She teaches with enthusiasm, passion and humour. I highly recommend Dancing Star Birth!
Tarra Horsfield: We attended the 3 day prenatal class at Pomegranate midwives on the weekend with instructor Jessica Medrea who is also a birth doula. Both my husband and I were very impressed. The class was focused on education and advocacy regarding the whole birthing and postpartum process. Leaving the weekend, my husband and I feel more empowered and unified as a team than ever before. Jessica was amazing, she used an evidence based approach to examine birth decisions and offered multiple perspectives. As a holistically minded couple, we appreciated this critical thinking and examination of informed consent and how to assert this. I would 100% recommend this class.
Agata Osinska: The classes were excellent. Morag is a fantastic instructor who provides very practical and comprehensive information. We had started the classes not knowing much and came out of the 6 week program feeling a lot more confident. Morag provides a very good overview of all the options empowering future parents to make the best decisions for them and their baby.
Martina Bolcic: We learned so much from Morags class! We did the zoom classes from the comfort of our own home which was awesome. Morag kept us engaged the entire time and allowed us to ask as many questions as we wanted along the way. We felt very confident going into our homebirth and were realizing what stages of labour I was in along the way.Hubbs felt way more confident and was the BEST birthing partner ever!I also love that Morag was a doula..(sorry not sure if she still is) and really understood the physiology of birth and not fear mongering the process.Highly recommend this course!
Evada Perón: My partner and I just completed the birthing class instructed by Morag and I could not recommend it more! Morag kept the atmosphere fun and relaxed and initiated conversations and shared resources that have really opened up our perspective and helped us confidently create our birth plan/preferences. We both feel equipped, empowered and excited for our upcoming labour/birth. Thank you Morag!
Rob Williams: Thank you to Dancing Stars Birth for giving us all of the information we needed to prepare for our baby!Going into this class we were acutely aware of all of the known (and unknown) unknowns surrounding the birth of our first born. On completion I am happy to say that we felt fully prepared for what was to come and confident in our options and rights. The class is informal and informational and a great forum to build connections with other expecting parents. On a personal note, we would like to sincerely thank Morag for all of her generosity and connections with her community. You have helped us in our greatest time of need and we will be forever thankful.Tara and Rob.
Linla Messin: WOW! Five stars does not give justice to what a beautiful experience my husband and I had at our Dancing Star Birth class this past weekend! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were welcome-Dori had set up a cozy, inviting space for us with candles and pillow seats, and a kettle ready for whenever any of us wanted some tea to warm our hearts. We all sat sitting in a circle facing each other, which I was pleasantly surprised by and found much more conducive to an intimate learning environment than the modern, impersonal classroom style of students in chairs just facing the teacher. I believe this was a subtle but powerful detail that really helped us six couples get to know each other better in the three sessions we had together. Dori taught us how to cope with pain, what to expect with each stage of labor, how to approach interventions, and postpartum skills such as breastfeeding and keeping our babies happy and healthy, and so much more than I can cover here. Most importantly, she taught us how to trust in our innate wisdom and to tap into our instincts as we navigate the fears and anxieties we have surrounding birth. We learned that birth is not just something that “happens” to us, but a process that we can have an active role in. She helped us know how to make informed decisions about interventions so that we can still feel like we have a say when a birth may not go as planned, whether that be a home birth or a hospital birth, or whichever in between. As we all were first-time parents, this empowerment that Dori gave us was invaluable. Dori is a very warm person who makes you feel relaxed and known when you’re around her. She was so patient and gave each person time to think about their questions and she never hurried her answers. Not once did she make us feel like our questions were silly or dumb. My husband and I were particularly impressed with how she fluidly adjusted her teaching to tailor to the specific needs of us six couples in particular, rather than teaching a rigid curriculum with information that does not apply to us. She also used a variety of teaching methods, such as props, videos, and group brainstorming. Her lovely birth-educator-in-training, Jessica, is also a doula and helped roleplay and share her wisdom with us, and it was just a wonderful bonus having her there with us! The 12-13 hours we shared in that space were filled with laughter, fun, enlightenment, and heartwarming stories. I believe I can say that we all walked away from the class as couples more committed to welcoming parenthood as a loving team, as more compassionate human beings towards our babies, towards each other, and towards ourselves, and having a greater respect for the gift of birth. The birth lessons and life lessons you will learn from this class…wow…you cannot put a price on it. It’s worth the investment. My husband and I would love for more parents out there to share in the transformative experience we had this weekend! :)
Jenna-Lee Tuttle: This class was incredibly informative and full of information that was very useful. Our instructor had a wealth of experience and knowledge. They were really good at answering any questions we had. I found that it really helped prepare me for my birth and early parenthood. I’m so happy that we attended and would recommend to all expectant parents! A +++++
Martha Lanphear: As a local doula, Dancing Star is my go-to recommendation for prenatal education for my clients. It's important that I refer my clients to a class that will prepare them for their birth with evidence based knowledge from instructors who know the system surrounding birth first hand. My clients who take this course come out with such a solid foundation of knowledge around physiology of birth, options available to them and tools to have informed conversations and questions surrounding their care. Can't recommend this class more!
Morgan Edgar: We loved our weekend class with Dancing Star Birth a few months ago. The class prepared us for our birth and helped my partner support me during our long hard birth. The baby care and breastfeeding information was invaluable. The class was fun and very informative and the instructor was very knowledgeable. I also connected with some of the other parents in the class and meet up for walks in the neighbourhood. I would highly recommend this class to others.
Radu Medrea: We took these classes to prepare for the birth of our first child and are so glad we did. The most valuable parts I think were all the information we received about the choices available to us during our labour and birth, and the information about medications and epidurals. It was so useful to hear in detail about how it all works!
mason lemons: Total waste of time and money,12 hours class that could be done in 4 hours. The instructor Dori is completely ignorant on important topics such birth phisiology and pharmacology, she wasn t able to answer many questions on that. Also the teaching method is very weak, lacking any visual or digital support.I would not reccomend this classes, total waste of money and time, read a book instead
GUY STOWELL: We did the Zoom course with Dori, she is the best! She is very funny and great communicating things, we actually really enjoyed it and for sure we are a lot more confident having more knowledge on what's to come. Wait until you see her performance of someone having contractions , haha so good.
Daniela Szary: My husband and I registered with Dancing Star because we had heard fantastic testimonials about their services. We were so looking forward to our classes but were informed that given the risk of covid, classes would be hosted virtually rather than in-person. While we understand the rationale behind this decision, we were disappointed because in-person learning was a very important element for both myself and my husband. I had expressed my concerns to Dancing Star and asked for a last minute withdrawal and refund as this wasn't part of our birthing plans. Dancing Star didn't challenge our request but honoured our decision and promptly withdrew us and refunded us. I am so thoroughly impressed with how they handled what could have otherwise been a tricky situation. From this experience alone it is obvious that they put the MOM, DAD, AND BABY FIRST and because of that, I can only assume that they provide excellent prenatal services and education. Thank you!
Jim Chisholm: Judy is a fabulous facilitator and provides comprehensive information on the full spectrum of birthing options in an unbiased manner. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Pre-natal in a Day class. Had time permitted for us, we would have enjoyed an extended class as Judy does a great job in fostering a sense of community. I highly recommend Dancing Star Birth for anyone who is expecting a baby.

The Childbearing Society: what do users think?
Merri Bays: 11/10 excellent experience with Stephanie’s prenatal classes. Everyone should take these classes, pregnant or not. We found each class SO helpful and informative, I truly felt prepared and empowered during my birthing experience and was able to challenge recommendations from the birth team and turn a scary situation around. On top of that my husband is now fostering an awakened love for biology :)Also! Aside from the class, there is so much support for afterward; and meeting up with other members post kid is wonderful:) this place deserves awards from the mayor for sheer excellence.
Tara Drage: My husband and I took the 7 week prenatal class. The class was good but very basic and should cover more topics if pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding or other post partum issues arise that aren't as planned. I felt quite unprepared when I faced a c-section and troubles with breastfeeding and supplementation (pumping/formula) and getting a newborn to sleep, when co-sleeping is not an option. A regular vaginal birth and labour were covered in great detail but not enough info was covered on induction and what to do when things do not go as planned. Instructor was nice and I met a great group of couples but content is definitely biased, based on your instructor and their values.
Vanessa Konn: Highly recommend to anyone expecting! We took the full prenatal course with our first baby and the found it so helpful for labour and post-partum preparation that we also did the refresher course for our second. Evidence based teaching with really experienced and knowledgeable instructors.
Dominique Basi: Loved the birth refresher course, a great way to prepare for our second kid.But I can’t recommend their breastfeeding / chestfeeding class enough. It gave me total confidence in my baby and body, with the support to reach out immediately for any issues.Lovely people who do great work.
Lisa Yang: It was a pleasure having Stephanie as our instructor. The class was very engaging, informative and enjoyable. We appreciated all the time and effort put into the details of every class, down to the relevant information boards in the washrooms. I'm so glad we took this class instead of just watching online videos. There's just so much more that those videos don't mention, especially all the evidence-based information.
Aryana C: Stephanie was an incredible instructor! My husband and I felt fully equipped with the skills and knowledge for my birth and life with a newborn. I highly recommend the Childbearing Society as a place that will augment your preexisting knowledge around pregnancy as well as provide you with new information that will help your transition into parenthood.
Cody Rocko: Taking the 7 week prenatal course was easily one of the best decisions we made for our pregnancy. We are first-time parents who felt a little dazed by all the information out there. Stephanie was an amazing teacher. We went home every week with lots of new things to discuss that we simply didn't know anything about beforehand. This course gave us lots of options to consider backed by data and also just made us feel simply more empowered to advocate for the birth we realized we could have. If this is your first birth, I couldn't recommend this course more.
Anna Regev: Great little place that offers huge support to expecting parents! I have been a part of the baby circle & it helped me so much as first time mom — definitely helped me bond better with my babe through the connections created during the sessions & learning experiences. Thank you!
Sharleen S: Took the “Healthy Pregnancy” Seminar and Prenatal classes with hubby through Childbearing Society. They did such an amazing job with evidence-based information, practical ways to practice compassion throughout pregnancy and being overall supportive to any further questions. Will definitely be checking out their postpartum resources as well! Thank you so much 3
Anna Ikonostasova: My husband and I took prenatal classes with Stephanie and really enjoyed them! Although we did lots of research, reading and learning about birth before these classes, we still got a ton of useful information. Stephanie taught us pros and cons of different situations during birth and baby care, encouraging us to make our own decisions based on what we think is best for our family.
Victoria Barber: Recently took the prenatal classes with my husband - we highly recommend. We had agreed if we just learn one new thing, or get confident about what we already know - the class was worth it. But we got a wealth of brand new information, learned a lot of useful skills and information about stages of labour and what babies go through post delivery, it was a really great weekend of learning. The instructors were lovely, inclusive and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend to all first time parents or those looking for a refresher.
Eunice L: I’ve taken several classes here and it has been a great resource to connect with other parents. An important thing I took away is like every other resource to not just take everything at face value but use what you learn and hear as an invitation to find out more during your own independent research.
Bethany Dobson: My husband and I took the 7 week prenatal class and highly recommend it. We’d read various birth/baby books, and we still learned so much! Stephanie fit an amazing amount of information into each 2 hour session. We appreciated that she took time to explain how much a partner can do during birth and the newborn phase. We also thought she did a good job balancing “wellness” versus “medical” beliefs and assuring the group to make their own choice for their families. We didn’t fully agree with every point of view, but I think that would be impossible considering all the differing opinions about birth and health. We don’t fully agree with each other either!
Tiana Sharifi: This is strictly for the prenatal classes. I only gave the 2nd star because the instructor was a nice woman, however, these classes were the biggest disappointment and waste of money we made. We chose this class because their website provides such a detailed outline that we thought it would be thorough and detailed. "Rudimentary" is the word my husband used to describe it. If you are someone who naturally reads a book or two or googles information, you won't learn anything new in this class. Both of us heard no new information or knowledge- it was so basic and information was so basic that we gained nothing but wasted hours of our time and weekend. In addition, the instructor shared opinions that were harmful such as stating that newborns are very resilient and covid shouldn't be a huge concern.....hospitals and experts of course are stating the opposite given babies don't have an immune system when they are first born.Information regarding once the baby was born was missed as well- such as swaddling, burping, and colic. Instructor didn't believe in swaddling but research has shown it is safe with particular forms of swaddling sleepers.
Kyla Lalani: Critical:QualityA lot of very dangerous ideas and suggestions mentioned in this class. None of their philosphies are backed by science.
Marbie Alura: I highly recommend them! My partner and I attended the Pleasure in Pain Workshop, Birth Prep Class and Breastfeeding Clinic. All of them were informative, inclusive and well worth the time and money spent. It was also great to connect with other soon to be parents! Kudos to Jasmine and Stephanie, they were our instructors for two of the classes and they were both great!
Taryn Lalani: We took the 7 week prenatal class and the 3 hour home birth seminar. Instructors were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, generous with their time, and were so supportive of questions.
Katka Dojcakova: This was one of the best decisions I've done to register for these prenatal classes. Aleksandra was so captivating, I was looking forward to each class. Very informative and helpful.
Sarah Whittall: My husband and I attended the weekend prenatal and breast feeding class. We both valued the information that was taught to us, the instructors were very knowledgeable, and kept things interesting. This was a very worthwhile class to take.
Dikun Yang: Helpful knowledge. Great experience. Highly recommended!
Michael Dee: I highly recommend the prenatal class with Aleksandra Henderson. She has an excellent attitude and approach when it comes to birth and everything that goes with it. This was is a very helpful and informative class with practical advice. The classes are very well organized and well presented. Aleksandra is very knowledgeable and experienced with the birthing process. From pre-labour to post-partum, she has many tips and a lot of wisdom to share.I've always thought these types of classes would be kind of "hokey" and I'm sure many of them are, but this is not one of them. As a partner who feels very much like a spectator to the whole process, I now have a much better idea of what will happen, what might happen and what our options might look like. Aleksandra was very good about giving us time to ask questions, even outside of class time.Unfortunately, we aren't in the market for a doula, but if we were, we would confidently hire Aleksandra.

YYOGA Downtown Flow: what do users think?
Marjan Rouhipour: This review is not about the service in studio or teachers or quality of service. This is about hold request on monthly membership. I am a month to month members eligible for 3 holds per year.It should be easy process to ask for hold but it is, it is very confusing and you cannot talk to anyone. The north shore studio told me to fill the form and I did. After 4 ays I have not received any response. After submitting the request, there is no tracking number no auto reply email nothing that shows you sent that request. In summary:- you cannot do it over phone and call your studio- it is only through a online form, finding the right form itself is confusing, no instruction- you do not know if YYoga received it or not , no auto reply or tracking number- no response in 72 hours as YYoga claims.
Ghazal: First time at this location. Booked a Hatha yoga class through ClassPass for this studio and I was truly impressed with the studio aesthetics! This location is very spacious and has a huge lounge area to relax and unwind before or after your classes. What I like about YYoga is that teachers usually educate you about the poses and their benefits in addition to guiding you through the shapes.Jayme was an amazing teacher!Highly recommend!
Ivan Quintana: The 200 hour YYOGA Yoga Teacher Training program is second to none. I would strongly recommend it whether you would like to learn how to teach yoga or simply deepen your knowledge in the practice and increase your level of self-awareness. The program is very comprehensive. The instructors Mari, Jayme, Jasmina and Zander are very dedicated and passionate professionals, and are generous with their knowledge, experience and time. They attract similar enthusiastic and empathetic people. I was part of two different groups and both were full of incredible, wonderful people.
Gustavo Arruda: One of the best yoga studios in Vancouver. Nice, big rooms and a very welcoming atmosphere. Teaching is superb.
Maria N: Very good and clean studio!Staff are nice. Bernadette is a wonderful instructor,I attended her class 3 times and enjoyed it so much. She is very engaging, shows a lot of different postures for different levels. On the other hand, I was not very impressed by Jayme. Won’t attend her class again.
Justine Yiu: Love coming here after work to unwind. They have great facilities: showers, tea room, infrared sauna. I feel like I get a mini spa day during the week. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. The hot yoga and power classes are great. Be prepared to sweat. Haven’t had an issue with their online booking system. I just pay for the 10 class pack, which is great for my needs.
Rebecca Coastal: Very disappointing! From 2021 until 2022 they didn't let students enter without the Va.xx Passport. That's a violation of our medical privacy and the Canadian Bill of Rights. They even mandate the Yoga teachers to take the Jab.Many of them left.I understand that they want to keep the studio open, but it's OUR body OUR Choice! They failed the Great Spiritual Test that was presented to us. They are NOT authentic. No Body, No Mind and No Spirit. They ONLY have fear of breathing. Even after taking the jab.The decisions they made were to save their own selves and their business. This is the primordial reptile brain (fear) which is operating for those who failed to do the right thing; a lower frequency vibration (and operating on the 3 lower chakras). Not very ‘yogic’ if you ask me.
Rebecca Brewer: V nice facility and challenging classes. Mainly attended the yhot classes and had good experiences. The reason for the lower rating has to do with the relative inflexibility of the passes. After an abdominal surgery I was unexpectedly required to avoid all significant exercise for 6 weeks and Yyoga did accommodate me with a 1 month extension to my pass to cover some of that time. The problem is that it simply wasn't enough time to recover and I pushed myself too soon to attend classes again after losing significant muscle mass post-surgery . Long story short, the last class I attended was followed by an evening spent in the ER. Not a great experience coming out of illness to feel that pressure to use up paid credits, but I understand that they're a business. I feel a bit attached to the idea that yoga should have restorative potential but after this experience with Yyoga, I realize that I simply am not consistently able-bodied enough for this yoga studio. Sad because I had enjoyed the experience for the most part. Just a suggestion, but maybe given the mandate of wellness, it might make sense to be a bit less arbitrary about giving people extensions based on illness. Why the limit? Why not just accommodate your clients in this small way to help them in their recovery? I don't think I will be going back because of this feeling. Final note: In one of the post-surgery classes I attended and tried to struggle through, the instructor, speaking to the entire class, said to "ignore" me (not sure if some people were distracted by my deviation from or modification of the poses?) and that felt very off.
Samara: Nice space, staff are really friendly, and most of the classes I've attended have been great!
Trevor Baldrey: Great place to go for whatever mood you’re in. Whether you want a nice stretch or a solid workout. Teachers are friendly and most knowledgeable in the Vancouver community!
Stephen Smith-Gander: My girlfriend has had so many issues with them.First their auto renew policy is a joke. They actually sign you on to a contract and the only way to cancel is to call them. This is not clearly stated at all when you first sign up. So, your credit card will be continually charged until you do so.Second, their staff are extremely rude pretentious stuck up people. They lack basic customer service skills. Soulless vapid folks.Lastly, their late policy is absolutely ridiculous. If you arrive even 1-2 minutes late (no exaggeration) you will be denied entry. So, if Someone rushes to make a morning class and because of a transit delay they are forced to reschedule ? Complete non sense.Yoga is supposed to be about inclusion, fitness and giving people the ability to deal with their daily stress in a healthy way. YYoga just makes that stress worse.
H Yang: I was falsely charged a “no show” fee for a class I attended. I didn’t receive any notification about this charge from YYOGA and only found out after I checked my credit card statement. I was in touch with a “digital experience guest experience” staff about this matter. I understand mistakes happen, and I would have been perfectly content with a refund of the false charge and an explanation on why I didn’t receive any notification. They did issue a refund but they did not address my concern about being charged without notice, and rather, they explained to me "why this was my fault” and how I should take responsibility as well. I was registered for 2 classes and they assumed the error occurred because I signed in for the first and didn’t sign in for the second. However, if they checked the time of the classes, they could see that the class I was marked absent for was the first and not the second, so their explanation does not make any sense. Not taking ownership and unjustly pushing blame on the customer when they make mistakes is terrible. I ALWAYS make sure I check in each time before entering a class. I corrected this digital experience staff and asked to speak to a manager about my concerns about not receiving any notification before getting charged and I did not get a response.I mentioned what happened and my concern to in studio staff and later in the day I got an email from a supervisor. They said I was sent notification and copied the said email to me. I copied portions of the email in my email search bar and found nothing. Very strange since I have no issues receiving other emails from YYOGA. I can accept that it could be a glitch. However, in addition to this, the supervisor also included a lengthy segment on how I can prevent this from happening in the future and summarized the cancellation policy to me. They were not aware of the situation and just assumed that I was absent for a class and refused to pay the penalty because I didn’t receive the notification. I found this very offensive because I understand the cancellation policy, I respect the cancellation policy and I would expect to pay the fine if I violate the policy whether or not I received notification. I read and understand the membership contract I signed to become a YYOGA member. Very frustrating/disappointing that a supervisor would send this email without first taking the time to understanding the situation. How this false charge was handled showed YYOGA was more concerned with “protecting” themselves and pushing blame. I would have really appreciated and respected ownership. What I got was a “lengthy” defence and no reassurance on how they can prevent this from happening in the future.I guess the take away is always be diligent about checking your credit card statements.
Azi Jahan: One of the most amazing Yoga studios in Vancouver!Professional and caring instructors👍🏻Professional support and customer care team 🏻Energetic and smiley faces studio team!I recently moved to Equinox as my main gym but couldn't leave this unique experience.Try it and enjoy a great quality of service and package you will experience there🤩
Jie Zhou: Love the yhot and need it for my life!
Denis Semenov: I bought a pack of single use passes (1 month expiry) 3 days before the covid shutdown in Dec 2021. The studio was closed for an extended period of time and I was unable to use the passes at the time that I was expecting to. I walked into the studio and was directed to email head office and the staff there can't help with any membership issues. I was directed to email and would get a response within a few business days (great). I did get a shocking response from head office notifying me that my pass was indeed expired and I would not be able to use the passes that I had paid for. Naturally I sent back an extremely disappointed email reminding them that the COVID shutdown had nothing to do with me, that I had paid for passes and was not provided services at the time that I was expecting to receive them. I was even more appalled that they insisted that they would only re-instate my pass if I purchase additional passes. Are you kidding me? Goes to show that these guys have absolutely zero customer loyalty and their only goal is to siphon as much money out of you pocket as possible. Whoever is running that office obviously has zero business experience and no idea how to retain customers. Would have been better off to allow me to use the passes that I paid for and deserve to use and they could have retained a future paying customer. I will be taking by business somewhere else.
’Qátuw̓as Brown: Very exclusive and unwelcoming space upon arrival. There is white woman with dark hair who gives off a passive aggressive elitist energy. She made me feel so uncomfortable and unworthy to be in “her” space. The two others at the front desk were friendly almost compensating for her energy. Very sad considering the roots of yogic teachings “non-harm”.The two stars are for the effort and energy the rest of the staff offered.
Michelle W: Ive been out of practice for a while since relocating to Canada early last year. The uncertainties of the pandemic even prolonged by absence with practicing yoga. I tried going to this studio late last year where I ended up traumatized with how the class was held. As a long time practitioner, I am used to a certain type of disciplined environment where restrictions apply, so my disappointment with this particular studio was evident.I took another break and even though I've been aware of YYoga even when I was still back in Asia because I was doing my research on how I can continue my practice, the reviews held me back. But I miss yoga more, I miss the silence, I miss the heat and sweat, I miss that part of me where distractions dont exist. I miss my inner peace. So I hesitantly signed up for my trial pack with least expectations and paced myself for more disappointments to possibly come. I was wrong. I left the studio happier, I felt like I was finally back in the same community I was a year ago.The studio is aesthetically beautiful with its minimalistic approach. The front desk team has been nothing but warm and friendly upon my first arrival, they've answered all of my inquiries. The instructors that I have attended to are encouraging. Wonderful team!
Wholly Flow: If you want to flow; then this is the place to go
Etsuko Yoshimura: It has honestly become ridiculous how Yyoga or other Vancouver based yoga studios are strict with being late. To the point that I think it's not welcoming and inclusive. People have lives and things can happen, and even though I rushed as much as possible to attend the class, spending 40 mind commuting I was rejected of entry just cos I was 5 mins late. "We don't want people to be disturbed" like really, just cos someone comes in a couple of mins your yoga practice is ruined ?Yoga has become so pretentious it's just pure annoying. I rather do yoga at home with YouTube then
Aidan Cheung: very bad company culture and all about money
Manuel Lam: Aesthetically pleasing environment. Unfortunately, out of their control, several facilities are closed for COVID reasons, which is totally understandable. There is a yoga mat cleaning station in a common area outside the yoga studio . It contains a spray bottle, but no towels or anything to wipe them down with, which was inconvenient. Other studios I've been to have sprays and cleaning supplies available inside studios.Although they quickly check COVID vaccine QR codes, I'm shocked they don't actually scan them. In a fitness facility where masks are not required, I would have hoped more strict security measurements. As well, when the front desk staff checked my QR code, they just glanced at it, which defeats the purpose. The hot yoga class I took had a teacher who spoke too much and told anecdotes on his personal life. Although they were funny at times, it was hard to focus because he was very talkative. As well, he would check his phone at several points which was a bit distracting. For the most part, he only talked us through the poses, and rarely did them with us, which was hard to follow. Not naming the instructor because he seemed like a nice guy.

Open Door Yoga Commercial Drive: what do users think?
Connor Brodie: Beautiful vibes, space & teachers !
Shane McLoughlin: Great experience, yoga and people... a word of warning; be prepared to pay 28$ if you're only doing one class
super trash compactor: Employees misinformed about their own policies and offer contradicting statements when issues pro up.Responding to comment from owner: Haha that's what I've been doing and they prefer to argue and deny that there's an issue.
Scott Verbeek: Great spot for yoga
Robert Parkala: Contacted Lidija Martinović Rekert directly regarding help and guidance. I live in Calgary and she didn't mention that the introductory session would take place BC time, just that it would be at 12:30pm. Waited for an hour and after contacting her again received an underwhelming response that next contact should be paid and 90 minutes long. Rude, not compassionate and can't take suggestions well. Wouldn't recommend based on this experience. Georgina, this was sent by LR directly, I haven't contacted info@. Thank you.
David Bishop: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityGreat, clean locations and a variety of teachers and classes, so you can find one (or more) that suit your style of yoga.
Nicole Stoppard: Originally I gave this studio 1 star. I feel that it was slightly unfair because my review was for their 200hr. teacher training. The studio is gorgeous with everything you need. All of the teachers are great at what they do! If I lived downtown open door yoga would be in my top three studio list!.I attended the course more than 8 years ago. Since, I have attended many other teacher trainingings in the lower mainland. Overall my experience with open door was not good which, is too bad because they were highly recommended to me by a fitness mentor. I was upset, hurt and disappointed by the way a situation was unprofessionally handled by Charlotte Juras. Another student claimed that the criticism in my "sandwich feedback"was so upsetting that she spent the whole weekend crying. My words to the student were "i felt that you didn't hold the space during savasana." (She was picking her toes!) She, the teacher leading the class and other students did not react to my feedback negatively. I'd also like to mention said woman was clearly a menopausal wreck.I was completely blindsided.....Over the phone the following weekend Charlotte attacked my character without question. She inaccurately judged me, was rude and accusatory. She even threatened to kick me out of the course without refund 2 weeks before end, without certificate. She treated me unfair and made the experience awful. She was as ridiculous as the situationMore than 5 years later gossip follwed when A flight attendant student in the course spoke of the situation to a coworker/teacher teacher running a separate training..Why am I saying this now? Well, you don't get over 14+ years in the health/fitness industry making bad reviews and burning bridges.
Desire Olexy: I was quite confused to see the below comment regarding the teacher named Kristen. She is an amazingly kind and compassionate teacher whos classes are some of the busiest at ODY! Numbers do not lie :)Open Door Yoga has many teachers who are all so special in their own way!
Milan Wells: So fun!
Kim Lett: I've been coming here for many years, and it feels like a family. When I suddenly stopped attending classes (due to a broken foot) they called and asked if everything was okay! They helped me sell my pass and were there for me when I was finally able to return to my practice after several years of healing. Thank you Open Door! You have enriched my life and soul. 3
Scott Gardner: Great studio.
Rebecca Nolan: Having a great experience so far. Very clean and love the studio and all the equiptment provided (and the tea!) I would however like to request that the lady Krishna who subbed one of my classes on Sunday do more classes here. I thoroughly enjoyed her practise and would be amazing if she held more classes at Commercial Drive!
Axel Matfin: I have been regularly going to Open Door Yoga for nearly the past year. I have numerous sports injuries and broken bones, some highlights being a broken back, leg/knee, elbows, and the range of teachers and classes at Open Door have really allowed me to be free of pain and have a range of motion that I didn't think was possible. I have taken primarily the Hatha classes for their restorative value.I have enjoyed Jennifer, Veronica, Patrice, Lorena and Randy's classes a lot. Each of them has an unique approachable style of teaching that provided different mental and physical results.
Graham Douglas: Great yoga studio with a variety of instructors. The view out the windows is nice although you can hear the noise of commercial occasionally.
Sarah Wex: Teachers are hit and miss, great intro deals if you haven't been in before. Some people I know love it here; I may have had bad luck with teachers. None have been bad, but haven't found the right fit here.
Danielli Navarro: I love practicing there. The studio is always organized, clean and provides all the equipment needed for the classes. The teachers are all GREAT! Super experienced instructors, with a lot of kindness, patience and knowledge. Students with all levels of experience are very welcome. The prices are fair and they always make good deals for the ones who really want to improve and keep practicing. Open Door Yoga definitely made me enjoy even more my staying in Vancouver and added some very special people to my life!
Stella Domnich: I love this studio. The atmosphere of inclusion and non-judgment has really allowed me to grow in my practice.
lochleen macgregor: My mom and I walked in to get some more info and they rudely kicked us out. Wouldn't even talk to is politely. Just told us that we had to leave immediately if we weren't going to join the class that hadn't started yet. I understand schedules, but I don't understand why they needed to be rude. Open door yoga is anything but.
Ron Garcia-Fogarty: Open Door Yoga is a great place for hot yoga, Monica Shannon and her staff work with people of all skill levels to improve their client's health and mindfulness through yoga.

The Yoga Bar Yaletown: what do users think?
Ghazal: Edit: TYB has changed a lot since 6 months ago that I wrote this review. I decided not to go back there anymore because the prices have gone way up and their standards have dropped…———————————————Love love love this yoga studio! The vibe is amazing here and they have pretty awesome classes! I regularly go to their aerial class and I love it. I’ve practiced with Masha and Sara and both of them are amazing yoga teachers. I love how Masha adds variety to her classes and teaches new things every time! The LAAB class is intense but rewarding and the Deep Stretch class is healing and relaxing.Definitely recommend checking out classes at The Yoga Bar Yaletown!
M R: Typical bougie yoga studio in it for the money than for the yoga/the people. What kind of studio charges a $50 "enrollment fee" when registering for a month-to-month autopay membership? The monthly rate should be enough of an "enrollment fee." It's a shame that the clientele would never complain about it though - gotta keep up appearances, I guess.Nice enough studio. Too many people bring their phones into the practice space. Enjoy the hot classes. Injured my back during Aerial Yoga - cool experience, but won't be taking it again, personally.
Liyang Zhang: Very clean studio, has shower & lockers. Very cute vibe studio! Yoga instructor Ellen is great!
Chloe Booth: It's a cult but I still give it five stars
Brylee Sawyer: Space was beautiful, clean, welcoming. Hot yoga was hot for sure, but not unbearable. $5 to rent a mat or towel so best to byo. Gabriel was fantastic, really helpful, patient and kind, particularly for me as a beginner. Would reccomend to a friend.
Nadine: The girl at the front desk was unwelcoming and fairly rude. It's weird to have someone with such a bad attitude at a yoga studio .....
Alex Fournier: Thank you Victoria for the great pilates class. The front desk staff is also very polite and accomodating. Cheers.
Grace Everett-Jarema: I had not done pilates in years and was new to the city and wanted to find a studio exclusively for everyone, especially during these strange times. I came across this beautiful yoga studio, which happened to be a few blocks from my condo. The studio itself is absolutely stunning! There is so much natural light streaming in with tropical plants everywhere. The studio strives to be environmentally friendly in every way possible and has everything you need in house to support your healthy lifestyle when it comes to exercising. As soon as you walk through the doors, you can feel the amazing energy from the staff and instructors and you know once your class is finished, you will not be the same person you were when you first walked in...as Victoria Maybe always says :P Do yourself a favour and become part of the Yoga Bar family, you won't regret it. :)XX
os kar: Nice place and experience
Laura Bees: I had the best time at TYBs aerial yoga class. As a first timer I didn’t know what to expect and had a fantastic experience. The instructor was so supportive and helpful on more challenging moves. She initially went step by step which allowed me to succeed quickly and feel very confident!! I can’t wait to be back for more!!
Sky Edge: Love this place
Luz Alvarado: Tried the aerial yoga a few times and loved it! Unfortunately I dont live in Vancouver anymore but will definitely book a class when visiting.
Chi Chi C: The staff are always really kind and Victoria is a phenomenal yogi/instructor/human being. Highly recommend checking it out.
Mária Močková: Excellent yoga studio in the heart of Yaletown! Super clean, the atmosphere is incredible with professional services.I love hot yoga and I have found what I wanted.
Salina Siu: Just signed up and I’ve been going every day almost! I love aerial yoga which is rare to find at other yoga studios. It’s one of the main reasons I joined here, they have unique class offerings. The restorative yoga class also uses the aerial hammock and I love how much my strength and flexibility has improved.
Darnell Kebo: I travel for work so it's difficult to get regularly Aerial Yoga classes. I was excited to see Yoga Bar offers aerial yoga classes. The studio is very nice and clean. They offer mat and towel rentals, as well as lockers to store your belongings. There is also shower facilities. Staff is very friendly, I look forward to returning for future classes.
Lev, Natalya Gabuzyan: I don’t know why I waited so long to try Aerial Yoga. Wendy made my first ever antigravity yoga session such a wonderful experience. It was challenging, but she walks you through the whole practice. I felt deep stretch, stronger muscles, and better blood flow. Wendy is such an amazing and professional Aerial yoga instructor for so many years. And couple words about THE YOGA BAR YALETOWN: wonderful teachers, beautiful, lovely place, and a variety of classes that are perfect for anyone. Highly recommend.
Diego Trazzi: This studio in the heart of Yaletown is absolutely the most charming and heartwarming to practice your yoga rituals. I used to come here years ago when was still branded YYoga, but I recently rediscovered they have re-opened as part of the Yoga Bar and wanted to try all their classes.I have been practicing yoga for a long time and I absolutely felt in love with aerial yoga, as the silk can be used as a prop to deepen the stretches of your asanas, or can simply be used to perform cool inversions. All teachers have different styles so I would recommend to try all the aerial classes then decide which style/instructor you like best.I also tried Inferno Hot Pilates, Barre, 26/2, restorative and more. I loved the energy of hot pilates: it's an intense workout and you'll definitely feel the (good) burn on your muscles. Barre is a great workout too to complement with ballet technique and if you want to tone up your glutes and legs. 26/2 is the same Bikram series, but compressed in one hour, so some asanas are only performed once.Victoria, all three of them, and all the staff is super nice and wonderful. If you decide to try this studio try to attend a couple of different classes to find out what matches your style and level.I can't wait to go back
Renata Gabuzyan: All there is to say is that this is the cleanest, most relaxing/peaceful atmosphere and the service is top notch. There is an amazing selection of classes and the people are wonderful! I highly recommend checking this place out because I have nothing but good things to say about it :)
Brett Vilcu: The Yoga Bar Yaletown is amazing. I signed up for a year and I haven't looked back. The instructors are great. As this was my first yoga studio experience I didnt know the correct positions but the instructors show you and teach you and really makes you feel like your part of the group. The new heat panels that are installed throughout the room makes it next level. Love it?? YESSS!!!
Azadeh Goudarzi: TYB is a charming space and has a serene atmosphere in the heart of the Yaletown. They offer versatile classes from high intensity fitness classes with weights, to Ariel yoga (where you hang like monkeys from the ceiling via a silk fabric and let the inner child out) and at last but not least: my favourite class: hot Vinyasa yoga. All teachers and staff are amazing (to name a few of the teachers whom I tried their classes and liked: Oxana, Marcus, Victoria Maybee, Kimmy, and Rebecca). The highlight of my week is the Tue Vinyasa class with Rebecca. I’m pumped with so much good energy when I leave, I feel ready to face anything that life might throw at me. Very highly recommend TYB!
