We sought multiple different quotes and Millwall was in the middle price-wise, but for the price that included much higher quality materials than anyone else was offering. Because my house has a pretty steep driveway, and there were a big load of materials to remove and bring up, I expected the project to be the most complicated given the experience I had with other contractors for smaller installations like heating and piping. However, the team hired by company did an excellent job. They were always on time although they had to travel everyday from Surrey to Lions Bay in three weeks. They just came and left everyday till the whole roof was done. The only thing they asked from me was to open my garage for power supply. The company did inspection themselves after completion and did not find any problem. I waited almost a year to write this review because I wanted to make sure that I had no leakage with my new roof. This was after extensive research and interviews with other stratas who had already replaced their roofs in our area, Penfold's won our confidence and the job. They were so great to work with and their team was courteous and professional in every way. They've stood behind their products and workmanship. We've only had one issue pop up with a faulty vent cap and Tumi and Ron in the office were quick to send a team at no charge. Their technicians Ian and Phil went above and beyond fixing the little problem and making sure the rest of the roof was issue free.I recommend Penfolds and these 4 individuals for maintaining integrity in their company's promise to stand by their work.As a follow up a year later they are still standing by their word and no hassle fix to replace any reoccurring issue with this vent cap product.

Antonio Cayonne: This company takes ZERO accountability for their negligence.They left the fence to my back alley wide open and, as a result, my bike was stolen while they have 4 workers on the job site, in broad daylight.Insult to injury. The following day that that they completed work on the house, they left the gate open TWICE before I went and yelled at them (this is after they were contacted TWICE by their own management).Then a worker took a piss next to my car in my driveway - I guess they weren't provided anywhere by the company to relieve themselves - and he felt this was appropriate.Then, when a "supervisor" came to check out how a theft would occur he a) did not understand the fundamentals of how locks workb) lied to try and make it seem as though there were many ways the theft could have occurredc) went out of his was not to engage with med) did not have the decency or courage to call me directly and instead made the office administrator call (she was lovely).Their absolute lack of humanity, professionalism, and common sense led to a theft on my property under their watch, and days of frustration.This company is not reputable and takes no accountability for their mistakes.Service:Roof repair

T Leung: Had Penfolds install a steel seamed roof 7 years ago and then solar panels 4 years ago. Roof was installed on time, and on schedule. Solar panels took a while but definitely worth the wait. Both times the staff was very professional and kept me in the loop every step of the way.They also did an excellent job sizing my panels for my house. With a slight change to my habits, I have not paid the electric bill in the last 2 years.I would definitely install the panels and steel seamed roof again, if I had to do it again. Richard Parsons: I have never written a review before but I have to take my hat off to Penfolds Roofing. They put a new roof on our home. Our home is a 3500 SF rancher. We bought it knowing there were issues with the roof and learned last winter it was worse than we anticipated. Parts of the roof are metal and parts are flat. There is an interior drainage system under the roof and lots of skylights. It was an extremely complicated roof to re-roof I am told and I believe it. There were crews of Penfolds guys here for 3 weeks doing the job in the height of their busy season. I was extremely impressed with Penfolds and in particular Jason Pistawka. I frankly think they may have under quoted the job given the unique nature of the roof and the complexity of it. They didn't complain. They stood by the deal and did an excellent job. They even added some improvements to the job for material costs only to avoid ponding on some areas of the flat roof. It looks fantastic and we feel great we can rest assured there will be no more leaks this winter over our kids' rooms. I was really concerned the mildew might form. I highly recommend this company to anyone considering a new roof and Jason Pistawka in particular. Jason organized all the crews, and skylight removal/install people. Fenimore Cassidy: We had a raccoon damage our roof one evening. I called Penfolds the next morning and staff were extremely helpful and accommodating as it was forecast to rain that day. They fit in the work the same day, arrived promptly, repaired the damage and cleaned up. It doesn't even look like there was ever any damage. We used Penfolds 10 years ago to replace our roof and the quality of work and service has not changed in those 10 years.

When we needed a new roof in January this year we received a personal visit from their rep who took us through all the details (cost, timing materials).The crew showed up on the first dry spell in February and had the whole project completed in 6 working days including our shed. One of their workers came on a Saturday and did a fantastic and creative job on that as well. We are very pleased also with the way the payments were handled. I would score 9 out of ten!

Don Livingston: I can't say enough about how helpful the Penfolds staff have been! We recently discovered an access point for critters on our roof, and a call to Tumi in the repairs service centre quickly got us help. Within days she had arranged a service call, and Phil and his partner did a wonderful job solving our problem. Phil showed us the close-up pictures of the damaged section, explained how he would customize a repair, and got it done. He also identified a couple of other minor roof issues and had those repaired as well. And all of this under warranty, 9 years after the original installation! Thanks Penfolds!

JWS: Best West roofing did a repair on my roof last year, several months later it was leaking in the same spot. When I called them I explained the problem and was told that it likely not the same problem, we are really busy right now so it will be two weeks or more to come, and there is no warranty on this type of work. So, this has left me feeling that my previous business with them did not result in my receiving any priority for what is very possibly the same problem. S White: We had a significant leak in our roof. After calling two other companies and not even hearing back. I contacted Best West Roofing. Tyler contacted me the same day. Told me when he would be there, arrived on time, figured out the problem, explained what needed to be done and why, gave reasonable estimates, got the work done quickly, answered any questions I had and took photos so he could further explain the work. The current practice of many contractors now is to Google Earth your house and not even bother showing up to actually look at the work before giving you an estimate. This was not the case with your company, which I really appreciated. After explaining that we were trying to get a few more years out of our existing roof, he didn't try upselling a new roof to us. He offered workable solutions instead. It is clear he cares about doing a great job. He is professional, courteous, efficient, competent and reliable. And has a great sense of humour to boot. When I had to call him back about a problem towards the end of his shift, instead of putting me off to the next day, he explained he was on his way back from Maple Ridge via Langley and would get to our house in New West as soon as possible. Aissa Keulen: We first called Rob from Best West roofing 3 or 4 years ago. We have an old house with a leak and needed a new roof. He helped us patch the leak right away, and when his team replaced our roof they were all very professional and respectful, as I was home with a 6 month old at the time. They were tidy and made a point of picking up every nail at the end of the job that dropped around our house, as we had a toddler at at time too. They even helped dispose of an old Christmas tree from the side of the house that my husband had failed to remove lol. A few weeks after we got our new roof, there was a big wind storm and a massive tree branch dropped and broke one of skylights. We called Rob and he was over within 45 min ( over the holidays), and secured the skylight to keep us dry until the replacement was ready a few days later. Flash forward to 3/4 years later- again, we live in an old house and a leak has sprung up. Nancy Blatchford: Tyler from Best West Roofing is a pleasure to deal with. He originally came out in January 2020 to address a leak we had coming through our kitchen ceiling. At first, I was a bit disappointed that Brock didn't come out when we called (because most of the reviews referred to him), but Tyler was extremely professional and took great care with his work. We are really glad he was assigned to us as he is a pleasure to deal with.He fixed the leak we had, and then advised us what work needed to be done to prevent future issues from arising. We never felt pressured or like he was trying to make us spend unncessarily but that he sincerely wanted to help us maintain and extend the life of our roof as much as possible before having to replace it or encounter major issues.We took our time thinking about it and had the suggested work done in September 2020 to prepare for the rainy season. We should have done it right away as there was a small wait once the busy roofing season hit over the summer, but Tyler kept us updated as to where we were in the queue and we love the extra care and attention he provided. He even removed some chicken bones that crows had carried onto our roof and caulked a small area of our gutter that was leaking. Ron: I can't say enough good things about Brock and his crew. They were honest, professional and, overall, just great people to work with from start to finish.For me, hiring trades is like going to the dentist. Since I'm 100% at their mercy, it's critical to find someone I can trust. A few months ago, my wife came across BestWest Roofing through a closed Facebook group. We were looking for the "go to" guys on the North Shore for torch-on roofs, as we wanted a quote to replace ours. It wasn't leaking or anything, but I was pretty certain it was nearing its end-of-life (our wood ceilings have water stains throughout from the roof failing on the former owners and I didn't want a repeat performance).Fast forward and, a foot of snow later, our roof starts leaking. So I called Brock. He came out the next day and said the roof's in pretty good shape overall and that he wouldn't replace it if it were him. What?! I figure he's using reverse psychology on me, so I go through all my concerns about our current roof (small downspouts, pooling water in places, etc.). He took his time to go over the various issues, explaining them one by one (as well as what could be done about them). In the end, he convinced me it would be better to simply repair the leak and fix those issues down the road when the roof needs replacing.As for the "fix", there was no hard sell--at all. He said I could wait to see if the leak might have been a one-off caused by the snow, pointed out where he thought the leak was coming from so that I could caulk it myself to see if that would do the trick, etc. I ended up pressing HIM to do more work than was strictly needed to fix the leak, and he suggested a custom metal chimney wrap to deal with some crumbling mortar on the fireplace that was bugging me, which would also deal with the source of the leak.Tyler came out to measure up the chimney, checking the colour against our current flashing using a swatch (to ensure as close a match as possible), and even fixed up our crummy interim "saran wrap" job on the chimney without saying a word.  When I asked him about it, he said he couldn't just leave it like that (and wasn't sure if it was us or someone from BestWest who did it--talk about grace, because I knew he knew exactly who did that hatchet job!).  That pretty much says it all.  Fix something that isn't right, even if it's not part of "your job".  Not because you're looking for credit (he didn't even mention it), but because it's the right thing to do.The next time the rain stopped, Tyler was back out to fix the roof and everything is now dry (and looks great!). Being curious, I had a quick peek (with a flashlight!) while the job was being done and could see the attention to detail in places that will never see the light of day with the chimney wrap in place!I know this is a pretty wordy review, but I didn't know how else to convey just how great these guys were, from the original call/quote to the final communication/bill, everything was prompt, thorough and professional, and I was kept informed every step of the way.

Roofers wore all the proper safety equipment, the entire roof was replaced in two days, communication with the company was excellent and when the job was completed, the clean up was amazing. Job was not done properly which I discovered randomly 1 month after the initial visit, yup i trusted these guys very much that I didn't even bother to check. Found a small issue and send a picture to the customer service, they send me tech team right away, tech showed me what they have done this time, problem seems to be elimiated and they also did another complientary roof checking and fixed a little problem with the skylight free of charge. With all the questions answered we went with Canuck Roofing. He thought they would be able to replace our roof in March but they had an opening last week and asked if they can do the roof right away. They came over and had the roof completed in one day. The roof looks great and they cleaned up after the installation. No trace that they were even here. Great job by Scott and the installation crew. Mark Cormack: I've used Komo twice, once I had very good service for a reasonable price to replace a roof. My second experience was much, much worse. The company installed a roof vent system. It was both incorrectly installed and poorly done. The company owner claims that he installed the vents as per the contractor's design, even though not to code. As a roofing specialist, one would hope that this is the kind of thing that would be marked and fixed.Their poor work, along with an insulation job poorly done by another contractor, resulted in a wet roof and necessitated a significant and costly repair. Komo came back to inspect the roof and denied all responsibility. A third party building envelope engineer found Komo's work to be faulty. The company still refused to accept responsibility. The owner of the company called me at 8:oo in the evening, five days after the invoice was presented (not overdue) and yelled at me to the point where I had to hang up. He told me that he doesn't like working with contractors, only directly with the client. I suspect that this is because he doesn't like his quality to be checked.The owner of the company claims to be one of the good guys, but the was he treated me and the quality of his work says otherwise. I had a very poor experience with this company. The owner is a hot head who does not work well with others and harassed me for a bill that was not even a week old. Based on my experience with them I would not recommend this company. He treated me, the homeowner, and my crew incredibly disrespectfully and refused to accept responsibility for poor work.If you want shoddy work and to be yelled at, hire Komo. Rob Florio: At first I had trouble believing all of the great reviews that I was reading about Komo roofing. But I gave Kevin a call and didn’t regret it. He was responsive, professional and friendly. Kevin came by within 24 hours, gave me the best quote of any company that I called, and had a mason come by within a few days to repoint my chimney. Not only did they do a great job, but they put up safety equipment so the workers were safe and I felt comfortable. Probably the best thing about the experience was that Kevin and his two workers were really nice people to each other and to me. Boris the mason did a thorough, first rate job on the chimney. It looks like new. He took the time to do it right. They also added a bit of caulking and fixed a few pieces of flashing that needed fastening as a courtesy and didn’t ask for any more money on top of their modest fee. I really was impressed and would hire them again in a heart beat. Highly recommended.
