Welcome to UBC Aqua Society! Located in the center of the University of British Columbia, the UBC Aqua Society is a dive club proudly run by students since 1957! Here, we offer dive courses, club events and rental packages to inspire diving in the pacific northwest. Our purpose is to build a community among local divers, channel people’s adventure spirits towards the ocean!

Absolutely amazing experience with such a fun group!! I did my open water dive cert and dry suit cert with Paul and couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. I was anxious about certain skills but Paul was always patient and made me feel safe. He was very thorough and besides from teaching us PADI standards, he also gave some tips and tricks from his own experience - clearly a lot of passion for diving! Also shoutout to Taylor and Amanda who were assisting Paul during the course: they were also super helpful and supportive throughout the course.


I’ll definitely be coming back to join their Group Dives!


I had my private dive on Aug 26, 2021. I have to mention that it was my first time diving in Vancouver area. Lacey, my divemaster, was very professional, extremely patient and super friendly from the beginning to the end. It was lots of fun to dive along side with her, as she is quite knowledgeable of marine flora and fauna. She is super proficient communicator under the water and I have learned several new tips from her. We dived at Whytecliff Park, Horseshoe Bay - Amazing experience! Every moment of the event was very pleasant I will definitely do it again, when I am in Vancouver the next time. I will not hesitate to recommend Rowand's Reef store to anyone, who wants to experience enjoyable diving in Vancouver area, and obviously would recommend to choose Lacey as your divemaster. Thank you guys!

My snorkelling experience has never been better! Originally had all sorts of troubles with masks for years. Decided to finally get some help and a bit of an education from a pro shop. Within 5 min, the attendant (wish I could recall the name to give him credit) had found me a mask. At first I was skeptical with the quickness and cost. That was quickly washed away when I went and did my first swim. Feels like a whole new hobby now!!! Very happy with the service, recommendations and result to the older gentleman with the accent, thank you very much!!!


Fantastic customer service. When my snorkel mask started leaking, they did a leak test and repaired it at no charge.

I rented quality dry suits here. Personnel helped to fit the gear and provided with recommendations and even borrowed me a book with local dice sites. Thank you.

I purchased surf gear today from this shop. I have a minimal amount of knowledge regarding what gear I needed, but I went in there, and they gave me amazing advice and did not rip me off. I did some research and the gentleman that helped me was aces. He sincerely helped me and didn’t upsell me. I feel better prepared leaving there than I would at a larger shop. I truly appreciate the service they provided and I strongly support their help. Cheers!
