Sula Indian Restaurant, Commercial Drive: what do users think?
Ratheesh k.r: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sula, an Indian restaurant in commercial street that left me truly impressed. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. The first thing that caught my attention was the restaurant's inviting ambience. The interior decor beautifully combined modern elements with traditional Indian accents, creating a cozy and sophisticated atmosphere. Soft lighting, tasteful artwork, and comfortable seating added to the overall charm of the place. Sula managed to strike the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, making it an ideal venue for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. Now, let's talk about the service. The staff at Sula truly went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the cuisine they were serving. The servers were quick to offer recommendations, patiently answering all my questions about the menu. Throughout the meal, they made sure that every need was met promptly and courteously. The level of professionalism and friendliness displayed by the staff contributed significantly to the overall enjoyment of my visit. But what truly stole the show at Sula was the food. The menu showcased a wide array of Indian dishes, each prepared with meticulous attention to detail and bursting with authentic flavors. From the aromatic spices to the vibrant colors, every dish was a work of art.To complement the meal, Sula offered an extensive selection of beverages, including a variety of cocktails and a well-curated wine list. I particularly enjoyed the mango lassi, a refreshing and creamy drink that perfectly complemented the spices in the dishes. In conclusion, Sula is a gem among Indian restaurants. The combination of exceptional service, inviting ambience, and outstanding food creates an experience that is second to none. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, I highly recommend visiting Sula.
Alfred De Costa: Nothing against the restaurant or the staff (most the them are quite friendly). The reason for the 2 star is for one particular short guy working there wearing a white necklace at the time, thinks he’s Cinderella. His customer service and attitude is the worst I’ve ever come across in my life. I’ll change my review once the authorities have taught him some etiquette and means of service quality. Thank you.
Metehan Mustafa YALÇIN: Everything is delicious. Just you should clean your dishes properly.
bhavna silhi: The fish and chicken pakodas batter was very thick and bitter and the achari chicken was too sweet and their service was was both quick and slow but in the end the ambience is a 10/10 and very cozy
Jacqueline Maloney: Fantastic food, fantastic service. Great place for group celebrations
Jessica H: Georgie ran a marathon and we came here to celebrate. And YES he won.Vegetarian options: Yum yum yum I love the vegetable coconut curry and the vegetable samosa chaatFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Coconut Rice, Nan …More
Aditya Tiwana: Ordered dal makhni, shahi paneer a garlic naan and a tandoori roti. The delivery fee was reasonable, unlike door dash ($5 to coal harbour) The online ordering system they have set up is easy and quick. The food was better than the stuff I ate at Surrey yesterday in a place called Chacha’s ay little india. To everyone in downtown craving Mughali/Indian food, order from here.
Sunena A. Gill: The food was really good but the service at this location was awful! Our dirty plates after appetizers weren't picked up, our mains arrived and no dinner plates came. No one came to follow up if we needed anything after mains arrived because all the servers were busy chit-chatting at the front. And to top it off, I was lied to! I had original resos for 7:15 and when I called to move them to 7:45 I was told they have a reso for our table for 9:30 so we have to leave the table by 9:15. When I checked after our horrible experience turns out the CLOSE at 9:30. 10/10 would recommend the main street location.

Shivam Gupta: Best indian restaurant i have tried so far in canada. They have a huge variety to offer. Must try their railway slider (vada pav). All of the entree’s that i have tried so far were just amazing. Must try once. Highly recommended
Lucy Sherwood: The decor inside is so lovely. Servers are great. Great food, so flavourful! and cocktails were also delicious! We loved it here. Highly recommended! 🍸
Yair Leibovitz: Had lunch today and it was OMG delicious. EVERYTHING was done really well. The service was friendly but the star is the food - worth coming across several Lower Mainland bridges and traffic (marathon today) to get to.
Leanne Asante: Both Sula locations are great but the original on Commercial has a special atmosphere. Never had a dish I didn’t like at either spot.Vegetarian options: Tons of vegan and vegetarian options.Parking: Leave yourself time to find parking on weekend evenings.
John Mah: Great service and decor. Lots of drink options.Vegetarian options: A lot of DF and GF options too.
ਹਰkirt Singh: Bad staff
Alex Migdal: Beautiful space. Food was flavourful and came out fairly fast. Service was poor. I asked our server for a Coke when he brought out our meal. More than 25 minutes went by - he didn’t check in on us and had clearly forgotten. That’s fine. But then he came back with a Coke as we finished our meals and were ready to go. I suspected he had charged me for the second drink. The server provided my partner her receipt but withheld mine. He then passed me the machine with my total. I had to ask for my bill. When he gave it to me, I realize he had charged me for the second drink. I asked him to remove the drink and said it had come after we finished the meal. His behaviour felt sneaky and dishonest. A restaurant with good service would have simply apologized for the wait and comped the drink.
Daisy Jassar: Delicious, authentic food and friendly staff!

Sula Indian Restaurant, Main Street: what do users think?
David: This is an amazing restaurant. Best Indian food I’ve had. Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. Service was excellent. Sula you gained some regular customers. Those visiting Vancouver, it is worth the drive or short ride to either one of their location. Thank you Sula :)
Hitesh Shah: Was there before the closing time of 10pm, but didn't get to dine in. So ordered a take away. We're vegetarian so we ordered Paneer kadai, but we were given chicken kadai instead. We called the restaurant and they said I can come the next day to sort things out (but there was no apology). I couldn't go there again as I was just visiting for 3 days. So vegetarian folks - beware!
Dennis Sware: Amazing food atmosphere and drinks
Katrina Phillip: Incredible. We haven’t had food like this in quite awhile. We’re still talking about it. Definitely order the street food as apps, and the curries are out of this world.
Nguyen Giang: It was my first time eating at the premise and the food I ordered was recommended by the server and it was an excellent choice, the chicken curry with paneer bread were best due, the hospitality was great. It was an amazing experience and definitely will come back for more
Courtney Peddle: Divine food!! The two of us had the chicken korma, lamb vindaloo, basmati rice and garlic naan. We had quite a lot left over to take home. Cool decor and the staff were awesome. Can’t wait to go back to try more dishes.
Clarissa Nuttall: Fave for cocktails and Indian food in Vancouver!Recommended dishes Garlic Naan, Coconut Rice, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka …More
Julie Deng: I like their vibe and drink. Curry is better than Tandoori.
Linda: The best South Asian food I've ever tasted. Excellent staff too. Look forward to another visit soon.
Amey Bhalerao: Sula Indian Restaurant in Vancouver is a delightful dining destination that offers a wide range of flavorful Indian dishes. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying some of their delectable offerings. The paneer fingers I ordered were a true delight. They were perfectly crispy, and the coating had a wonderful blend of flavors reminiscent of chat masala. The paneer itself was incredibly soft and added a delightful creaminess to each bite. It was truly a delicious appetizer that I would highly recommend.Another standout dish was the aloo peas paratha. It was expertly prepared with a perfect balance of roasting and spicing. Each bite was bursting with the flavors of the potatoes and peas, and the paratha itself was wonderfully flaky. It was a truly satisfying and delicious dish that left me wanting more. The tandoori and garlic naan at Sula Indian Restaurant were also noteworthy. The garlic naan, in particular, had a genuine garlic flavor that added an extra dimension to the bread. Both naan varieties were soft and freshly made, complementing the main dishes perfectly. One of the standout curries I tried was the Kofta Dil Bahar. The curry itself was amazing, with a slightly sweet and tart flavor profile combined with a creamy texture. However, the koftas, unfortunately, were a bit hard and could have been more flavorful. While this aspect slightly affected the dish, the overall combination of flavors was still enjoyable. In terms of the ambiance, Sula Indian Restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. The decor is beautiful, creating a pleasant and inviting dining environment. It adds to the overall dining experience and enhances the enjoyment of the meal.To summarize, Sula Indian Restaurant is a pretty good place to satisfy your Indian food cravings in Vancouver. With its delicious paneer fingers, flavorful aloo peas paratha, tasty naan varieties, and wonderful ambiance, it offers a satisfying dining experience. Although the koftas in the Kofta Dil Bahar dish could have been improved, I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine.
Raquel Ortega: Great place. Great ambience. Good was superb. I got chicken Tikka masala and my husband got paneer masala. So so good! From out of town and the only thing that caught me off guard was that entrees don't come with rice. In my hometown, most Indian restaurants serve rice🤷But, the food was delicious. Would go there again.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka …More
Pawan Dhananjay: Awesome Indian food. Loved the ragda pattice. Reminded me of food from back home
Chia Ching Wang: I ordered from UberEat, overall the food taste is good, but is a little pricey. It might be better to dine in for the atmosphere.I have ordered the following:- Garlic naan does not have much taste.- Chicken 65 taste good, but portion size is quite small.- Lamb biryani is large and taste good.
Abhay Verma: One of the best Indian restaurants in the city.Tried the branch on main street, and got a table right away. We tried the portobello mushroom, chicken 65, dal makhni and garlic naan. Excellent service, we asked for bowls and were given some even through they weren't stocked. Found a dish spicy so was given some raita on the side. Would visit again just for the 5 star service ⭐The dishes had good flavor but the texture on the mushroom left me wanting. Was tasty for the first few bites but got soggy really quick because of the gravy (not sure if this appetizer should have gravy). The chicken 65 was better, but the chicken could be juicier, and the flavor was mostly thanks to the chutney rather than the chicken. The dal could use more malai, and I've had better but not bad. The naan was some of the best I've tried in my life.Easy, great meal but maybe had a few areas of improvement.
Aleksandra Siudy: Tasty and affordable!
Brock Lumsden: Love this place - both locations. We went for dinner last night and loved everything. The decor, food, service are all impeccable. The appetizer menu is extensive - the puri, Bajhi we’re wonderful. The Ragda Pattice is delicious. We had shrimp Korma, and Ghar Ki Bindi Ocra and Channa masala. All great. Service is impeccable. Lots of seating inside and out. Thanks Sula!!
Audrey: Food was good but a bit pricey. Garlic cheese naan was alright, could not really taste the cheese.. not really worth paying a bit more. You can choose how spicy you want each dish to be.Recommended dishes Chicken 65, Tandoori Chicken, Garlic Naan …More
Sahithi Yarlagadda: Food taste was bland. We ordered lamb rogan joshy and chicken jalfraize. Both the dishes tasted exactly the same kit the meat has been swapped. Service was great but I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking to try authentic Indian food.Food: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Brian Carew: High quality, amazing taste! I order the lamb curry with rice and really enjoyed it.
Chandra Chisholm: The most delicious Indian food, many classic and creative options. Not too loud, great ambience. The heated patio is cozy.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
J. F.: Great food, good atmosphere

Jessica Costello: I ordered the double cheese pizza. Wow! I want to add that I'm from Chicago and deep dish and tavern style is not a thing in Vancouver. However if you're from the Chicago area or want to catch a glimpse of what that pizza is like and you are craving a traditional pan (pan, not deep dish, huge difference) pizza from the chicago area I'd suggest Olympia. The cheese is salty like I miss from home and the dough is crispy but airy just like our pan pizzas.Thank you so much Olympia for giving me a little memory from home. If you order take out finely grate some Parmesan and grab some chili flakes and it's the closest to Chicago pizza you'll get in Vancouver.
Jonny: First time trying out Olympia Restaurant on Denman, an old school Greek spot. There’s a second location out in Kitsilano. There’s a lunch menu (12:00pm-2:30pm) with $14.00-20.00 entrees.- Pita- Roast lamb ($20.00) - good amount of lamb, didn’t see much fat. Not much taste to the salad. Potato had a nice bite.- Moussaka ($18.00) - basically, a Greek shepherd’s pie.- Beef souvlaki ($18.00) - one skewer of beef. Not bad but fairly standard.- Greek pizza ($22.00 medium) - slightly thicker crust, not greasy. Wished onions were cooked down more.No frills, classic Greek eats. 3.5 stars.
Jossue Jimenez Espinoza: Excelente pizzas, excelente servicio y muy agradable el lugar ❤️

Marc Trottier: Went in for the first time and met the owner, Miso, and he's a super nice guy. Got a pizza to go.Pizza was great, I highly recommend it.
Ruben de Luna: La comida es rica pero el servicio es mejor.
Savannah Heelis: I went on April 28th 2023 with 3 friends for dinner and the service was beyond terrible. We were not greeted at the door but rather yelled at from across the restaurant. After a few moments of being seated the server came over and ignored my friend trying to ask a question about the menu. When the server came back, my friend asked what is the difference between baked and steamed spaghetti, to which the server responded "The menu's were written by someone who doesn't speak English and no one proof read it". We ordered and after waiting over 40 minutes I kindly asked how long our food would be and he said that they were backed up with deliveries and then walked away. The food finally came and a bit later while we still had food on our plates, the server brought to-go containers and said "you haven't touched your food In a while so I brought these". The only time he tried to be nice was when we were paying so that he could get his tip... It felt like a very hostile experience and I have never been treated so poorly in an establishment. As a paying customer I was extremely disappointed with my experience here.
Alex Kokke: It was good at the beginning. Now it’s a restaurant for older people or going with your family. The food is okay, nothing great and different.
Megan Hoy: Ordered the roast lamb and calamari dinner, and both were excellent. The lamb was super tender and well seasoned, and the calamari was lightly battered and fried nicely for a grrat crisp. The Greek potato was delicious, I wish they served two on the plate. The rice pilaf wasn't the best I've had - could've used more flavour and unfortunately it was cold. However, the lamb and potato were warm so it was fine to eat with the rice. They also served free pita bread which came out hot and fresh and great with the Tzatziki.Great patio setting, I like that they have the plastic barriers up to separate the tables - it makes it more intimate and quiet. The place was packed on a Saturday night and they only had three servers. Waited about 15 min for a table at 8pm and many people were stopping in for pizza take out. Table service was a bit slow but our service did a great job and was friendly.

Basil Pasta Bar: what do users think?
D Milburn: If you want to feel a good authentic positive vibe, appreciative staff, and a big bowl of housemade thick noodles with an Italian mixed American culture. This is where you want to go. No joke...this one is a feel good experience in your soul.
David Burton: This place is dank. Cheap and great. I’ve eaten here like 5 billion times if I’m being honest.
shahvir patell: I recently visited Basil Pasta Bar and had a great experience. The food was delicious, the prices were affordable, and the ambiance was decent. It's a counter-service type of restaurant, which adds to its casual and laid-back atmosphere. The alcohol prices were also quite reasonable. We tried the Penne Arrabiata and the lemon chicken fettuccine, and both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. However, my personal favorite was the lemon chicken fettuccine—it had a zesty and refreshing taste that really stood out. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring we left the restaurant feeling satisfied. While the food was excellent, I found the vegetable minestrone soup to be a bit underwhelming. It lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for, and it didn't quite match the quality of the pasta dishes. Unfortunately had to throw most of it.Overall, Basil Pasta Bar is a great spot if you're looking for delicious pasta at affordable prices. The counter-style ordering makes it quick and convenient, perfect for a casual meal. I highly recommend trying their lemon chicken fettuccine—it's a delightful combination of flavors.

Ava L: Ordered through Uber eats. I did not like the taste of either dish- got the coconut ravioli and gnocchi. I don't understand how a pasta restaurant can get a pasta dish wrong. I feel like it is a delicious yet relatively easy dish to get right.... Don't think I'll order again. Two stars because food was edible and fresh tasting.
Eric Grant: Avoid this place unless you're really hungry and low on money. My girlfriend and I ate here. I ordered Lemon Chicken and it had too much lemon. The cheese was like cement and the meal had no taste. It was edible though and I finished. My girlfriend enjoyed her meal enough to finish it, too but said she wouldn't come back. Staff were nice enough. The food is not expensive and a good portion size, but I wouldn't pay to eat their food again. It was not just a one off. They have many negative reviews, but don't seem to improve. I can't forgive the horrible wall decor.... Who approved it??
Suha Khan: this pasta was literally the worst pasta me and my friend have ever had. it had no taste, we ordered pesto and it was just the most disgusting pesto ever. it had hair in their chicken, and the whole thing was just terrible. the cheese wasn';t even cheese, it just stuck to everything like concrete. we couldn't even break it. i feel like the ingredients they used were expired. i really want a refund for how expensive this was, because it was actually the worst thing i've ever had.
Saleh Alimadad: Best Pasta in town

Veer Joisher: I got the Penne Arrabbiata. It was pretty decent, although the goat cheese was forgotten but that’s okay.
Carmen P: If I could give negative stars I would. Ordered take out and the meat on the pasta was literally raw. It looked like a brain aka they slapped the raw ground meat from the package onto and didn’t even cook it. When given feedback to the restaurant the manager was very unprofessional and refused to give a refund even after we sent pics of the nastiness. It was so disgusting and makes me worried what else kind of sabotage they do on your food. Just warning!! Don’t always trust the good reviews.
Tanveer Singh: Guy who was serving order didn’t speak nicely to customers. He was very rude.
Manpreet Rai: Staff is not good.Server is very rude.Need to change.
Jake Dawson: Top notch service and delicious food! Thank you for the excellent experience
Rubén Rodríguez: The food is okay, the price is fine, the service is rude and a very bad attitude.
Dee M: Does the robot at the front also cook the food? Overpriced and pretty low quality dishes. Go to commercial for real Italian food.
