Andrew Tijerina: Wonderful experience! Great food, great atmosphere, great service! If you want a slightly more upscale vibe while not feeling stuffy this is a great option! Our server Ryan was a delight and if I ever am back in Vancouver i’ll be enjoying this spot again, hopefully with the same server!Dietary restrictions: We had a Gluten free person and the accommodations were top tier!

R A: My friends and I went to The roof at black and blue to celebrate Easter. The ambience and even the servers were good. Our group ordered oysters, flat bread and a beef dish. I was the only one that order blackened ahi tuna and everything was going well until i started vomiting through the entire night. No one else had problem as they didn’t have it. I was the only one among my friends ordered this dish.The edges of the tuna was cooked but the insides were raw like i could taste the rawness of the fish. I have had the blackened tuna before from other restaurants and this was the first time. I had a upset stomach and was puking for 3 days.The manger called and said they talked to the chef and couldn’t find any problem it seems. This experience scarred me and i dont think i will ever go back.Attached is the picture of the dish, you can clearly see how raw the center of the fish is.
Y K: Went to The Roof at Black & Blue for work lunch for the first time and loved its rooftop decor. I think the salad that I had was a Cobb Salad, but looks like they took it off the menu now because I don't see it anymore! My colleagues said the flatbread was really good, so I might try that next time.

Catherine Li: The manager of this restaurant was very unfriendly.1⃣️We brought a service dog and they checked service dog Id. After that the waiter said everything is good and free to come in, but the restaurant manager disagreed and said the restaurant has strict food requirements. We still cooperated and do what they ask us to do.2⃣️We also found hair on the prawn during the meal.3⃣️Before we prepare to place an order, I asked waiter if we could change the sit to the window sit, the waiter said yes. But the manager rejected. He said it was already reserved (I didn’t get that. I think first come first serve). I think the manager soooooo mean. Even we finished the dinner there still No one came to the window sit.The manager said he from Filipino. He name is DK

taylor brown: I had family visiting from out of town and went for dinner here for a special occasion and the staff here really went above and beyond, our server was amazing and the food was great, our favourite was the steaks, (we tried a few cuts and they were all tender and cooked perfectly), and the Mac and cheese, all the sides are for sharing so we got to try quite a few, and for dessert we had the butter cake, it was a great end to our meal. It was a cold and rainy night but next to the fire was nice a warm and the ambiance was unbeatable. I want to note also our server was a true professional, she really made the night for us, we will definitely be back soon!

Cristal Ortiz: Had such an amazing time here on a trip to Vancouver from Seattle! We stopped by for happy hour in the afternoon on a Saturday and we’re seated right away. Every staff we encountered was welcoming and accommodating, but our server Sasha stole the show! Sasha was extremely attentive, kind and made our experience even more incredible. The vibe is impeccable, and the food is top notch (please try the Mac & Cheese sticks). If we lived in Vancouver, there is no doubt we would be regulars here, learning Sasha’s schedule to be served by him every time!!

We were pleasantly surprised that everything had improved when we came in on Valentine's Day for my birthday! Decor, food, drinks! All much better than it used to be. We can't wait to come back. Chocolatitto: I like the atmosphere here, always good vibes around. We tried dine out 2023, the appetizer I chose scallops and bacon, I liked it. The main steak I ordered as medium rare, inside was perfect, but bit overcooked outside for me….it was hard. The sauce was good as well the side. I wish I had a more variety of salad thou. The dessert crème brûlée was bit sweet to me. Overall, it was good, but not the best this year.

aflod afled: We are returning customers and the drinks and food are always good! However, this time around , we were surprised by the rude service we received. We came for trivia and each ordered a drink, with some of us ordering food as well, and stayed approximately 2-2.5 hours (the time trivia took). Midway through, our server came over and let us know (rudely) that we were expected to order more to stay for trivia. We asked her how much we were expected to order and suggested that they list this somewhere on the website / menu as we weren’t aware of this and she again responded very rudely, telling us off and saying this should be « common sense » and that we were cheap for only ordering one drink. Her tone shocked me, as it was very condescending and sounded angry. As she delivered our receipts, she also told one of us that « she didn’t think he would tip anyway ». I understand that places can expect customers to spend a bit more, but this should be communicated clearly somewhere before rather than being told off rudely halfway through trivia. I hope this is a one-off as we usually love Darbys, but will likely not be coming back.

Jordan P: These guys have some of the best beer selections around. Nothing like coming to Darby’s on a hot day, getting a flight of beers and discovering a new favourite. Love the patio, the atmosphere and the service is always top notch.Unfortunately I’ve never eaten anything here that I’ve really enjoyed. They used to have these great polenta fries on the menu, that were really well priced but they don’t have them anymore.The prices are just a bit too high for what you get. I also wish they had some better happy hour offerings.Best plan of action is to get a flight at Darby’s then head next door to Chewies for food and/or happy hour beers.

Laura Taylor: I've loved this local watering hole for many years. This week they went above and beyond. They were able to host my work Christmas party with about 25-30 people. They were easy going with the large group and the sharable appies and food were a big hit. Sauana, our waitress was excellent... she maneuvered the big group bill and all the single bills with ease. She made everything stress free and was enjoyable, efficient and a clear communicator. I definitely recommend this venue and to ask for Sauana by name. Also, get the white Sangria... delish!
Mackailyn Arnason: Pizza was tasty and a good price, atmosphere was fun, and I felt the service was okay. I think they could have checked in with our table a little bit more, but otherwise a decent spot for some drinks!

Amy Brittleton: My fiancé proposed to me here and was messed about a lot in the lead up to it even though he had booked the secret room 4 months in advance. We expressed our issues after the engagement and heard nothing back from the general manager. Very disappointing service.
Rony Nehme: minimum charge obligation is ridiculous.. we already ordered a bottle of vodka 2 bottles of wine 1 bottle of champagne and a lot of food.. I think it’s enough even if we were a large group of people. You don’t send a waiter at the end of a fun night to tell customers they need to order more food and bottles and take them home with them.. I mean our tab was already $1000+ leave us alone! We will definitely not set foot in this place again! Service is great the staff are very friendly but I think this minimum charge policy is too harsh and greedy! no wonder the place was half empty on a Saturday night.
John Sweeney: Do not book events with D6. Extremely disappointing experience.Booked the secret room 4 months in advance for a proposal. Was contacted 1 week out from the proposal date that my reservation was given to someone else so had to change time to earlier. Agreed to this then 2 days before was told I need to have a shorter time in the room and be out earlier. Completely unacceptable for a reservation made 4 months in advance.The GM called me to go through my plan. When I hung up he accidentally pocket dialled and I heard them talking about I should be charged more, its a lot of work etc. Very unprofessional.Lastly on the day of proposal I had the room set up to surprise my girlfriend. I went through my plan with 3 separate employers about the surprise. The employee brought us in and Said "You guys want to see the secret room"This ruined the surprise for my proposal. The best part of a secret room is the "Secret" aspect of this.Just overall it was a nightmare. During a stressful event they made it worse with changes, poor communication and overall lack of professionalism.Have no trust in theis bar, would not recommend.

Jocelyn Liu: The place is nice, but wasn’t impressed with being charged a full cocktail price when I had ordered one with no alcohol. The server said I have to be charged full price because they don’t have an option in the system to charge me as a mock tail. I don’t understand why I had been offered the option to order a mock tail but then not be charged accordingly. This has never happened to me anywhere else. Very disappointing.
Dylan Siciliano: Skip this place! I work in the industry and this was some of the worst service I have ever experienced. No exaggeration, I didn't get my cocktail for 35 minutes. No one came to the table that whole time after the initial greet. The server then pretended like nothing happened and then put 18% gratuity on the bill. So many great cocktail bars in the city. Don't make the same mistake we did. Never again.PS. On a happy note, the DJ was good.

Jason Dhaliwal: I contacted D6 to schedule a private party for a birthday. They told me the private room was available for my date. When I was inquiring about the policies via email, they were not prompt with their responses and a few days later they said that that date is now all booked. Frustrating that they booked the room while I was inquiring about it, and the only reason I could not get it booked sooner was their slow response time. Then when I emailed them in response to them telling me the room is booked, my email did not send and I got a message saying: "The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now. Please try resending your message later, or contact the recipient directly." In conclusion, absolutely incompetent work by D6. Vanessa Renaud and Sevan Keurdian were the individuals I talked to.
Merlin Drzymala-Bokitch: We had our company holiday party at D/6 and it was so amazing! The atmosphere is super cool and there is lots of space. Extra shoutout to Sevan and Theo for being incredible organizers. Also Jay and Mar made our night being so fun and even surprised us with "burger bottle service" Such a great team overall!
Prabh M: I went to D/6 a few weeks ago where they lost my coat with their complimentary coat check. They tried to give me someone else's completely different coat which they had left over at the end of the night to make up for it.I e-mailed them off the business card the manager handed to me and I never got a response back at all. Disappointed.

Derrick B: It is so unfortunate. This place has been run into the ground with poor management and shady bouncers who require cash at the door to get in and make female patrons feel uncomfortable. It's surprising that Parq Hotel and Casino is allowing this conduct in their building. We saw several guests being spoken to rudely as well as racist conduct by the 2 men who work at the door. Service is also terrible once you get in with long waits to order. Manager David has a terrible attitude and acts like he owns the bar. He needs training in customer service. D6 also allows shady promotional companies to take over the venue and sell tickets for entry. This contributes to the terrible experience.
Nicole C: Absolutely horrible !!!!!!!!! We went there for my birthday and they had an event which we had to purchase tickets for. It’s fine spent 500 for 11 people and reserved a table for $1000. We got there and it was so unorganized. They kept taking us to tables that were already taken by random people who didn’t reserve it and kept leaving us to deal with it ourselves until we got a drink thrown at us by a drunk girl. We decided to leave , been trying to call for a refund but no one has gotten back to me. It was the most horrible experience and it ruined my birthday!

Devon Guzzi: Slow service so slow we left before our drinks showed up after waiting 45 minutes.
Vyan Vu: Came for happy hour and got a red wine. Interior wasnt very wow; was expecting a classier ambiance but nonetheless I got what I asked for. Wine is wine! :)

Fred Raputznik: A West-End destination for a reason: this funky turret-shaped bar, with a stunning view of Vancouver’s English Bay, should be considered mandatory for visitors and locals alike. The drinks are very good (Caesars are amongst the best in Van), and the food is great. Sometimes the service can be a little slow, but not a big deal. Definitely check this place out; perfect for a date!

Hesam Rezaei: A few friends and I decided to head to this lounge during their happy hour for a couple of beers. The establishment had a decent selection of beer, however, the service left something to be desired. Perhaps it was due to the crowded nature of the lounge during that time, but the waiter and waitress were not readily available. In fact, I had to request water twice before it was finally brought to the table. Additionally, my second beer took longer than expected to be served.Despite the lackluster service, the atmosphere of the lounge was enjoyable. The view of English Bay through the window was particularly impressive and added to the overall ambiance.

Matt Cox: My girlfriend and I stopped in for after dinner drinks on our last night in Vancouver. The round room works great for relaxed people watching while staying close to the one you love.The music was loudish but whoever was picking the playlist had done a great job and the drinks were very well mixed. We both enjoyed ours immensely.The woman beside us ordered a shot and ended up finding something at the bottom of the glass. The server took special care to go and figure out what it was with the bartender and then brought back another round of shots for them which seemed to be on the house.Next time we're in Vancouver we'll be going back and trying food. I highly recommend the smoke show cocktail. It was perfectly blended so the smoke wasn't too overpowering but a beautiful after note to a delicious drink.

Just wanted to drop a line to say how commendable both the Manager Des and Justin were.After helping a young woman who looked like she was ready to retire from the bar and making sure she had the means to get home safely they offered to bring her belongings to her and had their doorman get her belongings.Unfortunately he grabbed a coat from a near by table thinking this was hers.Turned out the other table didn’t realize it was a genuine mistake by the doorman.I overheard both Des and Justin apologizing and saying it was their mistake and were willing to make amends as they had given the wrong coat. They did resolve to make sure the right items were with the right owners before they left.Once again I love the professionalism and courteous nature all of the staff treat me and other patrons with. Des Justin Jack Hugo Jamie Carolina Nicole and all of the rest of the crew are amazing.Bayside is such a great place to call home away from home .Sincere thanks guys.You rock as always.Tom

Sharon Richards: Dockside has improved again. Last time we were there was a couple of years ago and not great. Last night we had a lovely meal of starters. Pork belly was outstanding. Potatoes also delicious. Great cocktails. Great service. Even young Rex was very attentive by keeping our water glasses full and clearing our table. A wonderful night!

Jordan Reid: We came on a day that wasn’t very busy. Our server took a very long time taking our order. She didn’t come to even take our drink order before going to take a table of 16’s food and drink order. Our two person order would have been very quick. After this she went and billed out another table before finally coming to take our order. This caused us to wait almost an hour before getting our food- which was all we ordered.Overall, the food was good, nothing to write home about. Wouldn’t recommend. Mediocre food and not great service. But a lovely view.
Nicole Harpold: Weird and disappointing. We stayed at the hotel and we’re so excited when we checked in to see a waterfront restaurant right at the hotel. After wandering all afternoon around Granville Island and shopping, we were looking forward to dinner on-site. At check-in we even received a promo coupon for a “chef’s choice” happy hour appetizer, happy from 3pm - 5pm. We walked into the restaurant at 4:40 and were seated no problem, they even had a high chair for our toddler, no problem. We put our order in for our promo appetizer, plus two other happy hour appetizers to share as well as 2 cocktails at 4:45. Waitress brought our drinks and our first appetizer (marinated olives) no problem. About 5 minutes later (4:52 by my watch). Waitress came out and apologized, and said our order had been cancelled by the kitchen because happy hour was over. Excuse me? You still have happy hour menus in the table, the signs and the cards you hand out to guests all day until 5pm, but at 4:45 the kitchen starts cancelling orders? Okay. Check please, we’ll take our business elsewhere. One star for the nice view and the very apologetic waitress who was highly embarrassed by all of it.
Thea: Food was good. Wasnt happy with our server victoryia though. She was nice but her service wasnt the best. We didnt get side plates when our appetizers arrived and we were starving so we ate it right then and there with no plates to share. She didnt even ask how our food was until she gave us the bill to pay. We asked for refils but they came 10 minutes later. She took our napkins away when she took our appetizer plates away and didnt give us new ones. My mom ordered clams (which were delicious) and she sat there for 20 minutes with no eyes on our server to get a napkin. It turned out to be so cold so we asked for a blanket and she took 10 minutes to get that. We asked to sit at a table that wasnt wobbly. I even said if its a big issue we can stay its no problem but she totally avoided the question and never came back woth an answer whether we could or couldnt move. For a dinner that was 300+ $ especially on mothers day it was such a disappointment to have a server that seemed to not care. We asked about 2 other servers to get us our bill because we couldnt find victoria and they all said theylle be right there but then go to their pos system and then walk right away far away from us. I understand we might have been annoying and asked for too many things but its expensive eating out and we want everything to go perfect. We most likely will never go back to this restaurant just because of the service we received.

Ghalib Dhalla: Its been a couple of years since I was last here and I had forgotten what a wonderful waterview this place has! Halibut, salmon and humus appetizer were all delicious. Very reasonable prices for the amazing location. Highlight was Lara's amazing service! She was efficient and attentive with a warm genuine smile. Joel McCooey (The Tough Critique): We decided to dine here since we we’re staying at the Granville Island hotel. First impressions were good and the service staff were attentive. The first plate we had was the Wagyu Beef Carpacio. This was delicious and well plated. Accompanying this plate was the smoked olives these were very good although only some of the olives on the plate were smoked. Ok, good start. The mains were overall lacklustre in all ways. Lacking in presentation, flavour and overall composition. I can guess that this could only be attributed to the fact that cooks in a kitchen are only as good as their training. Perhaps if there were just a little more over the shoulder looking by the head chef these plates would come out cleaner. I will say that whoever wrote the menu did a fantastic job. i did want to order everything on it.

I didn’t add as a special occasion when we book online, however through the conversation they found out is my bday, I didn’t expect a card and a tasty hazelnut chocolate cake.The wine ! One of the spots, the white wine was very fruity with clean after taste, fruity as actual fruity not the sweetness, it is very pleasant pairing with my cream sauce halibut. The halibut was just cook right ! Not too cook or raw, it’s just prefect .The red wine as I rmb is from California, its buttery and a little spice, very good with the sirloin steak, the sauce is also a hit, a very good recommendation of the wine pairing from the server Todd.Sorry to mention your name here but I truly appreciated your service with heart and in details.You did shown your passion of what you are doing. Lisa: Celebrated my bday here early April and had a pleasant experience with my sons. Food was tasty and fresh. Oysters were delicious but a pricey at $5 a piece and they were tiny. Not sure what kind of oysters. Truffles on the pasta was quite expensive, I didn’t realize. Service was friendly and prompt. Nice if you can get a window seat. But walk outside of the restaurant by the water is refreshing.

We ordered some sharing plates and most of them did not seem fresh or had a very unpleasant taste. We were given a discount and had some plates taken off the bill but the bill was still high even though we did not touch barely any of the food. I hope others don't have the same experience.

It seemed strange as the kitchen wasn't busy, and I asked the server for an update.It turned out that our food was missing(?) and the server was not even able to track the order. No one knew what had happened, and it felt strange as the server had to double-check whether we had actually ordered the food correctly. Anyway, the server went back to the kitchen and punched the orders.Our team was extremely frustrated, and when we complained that it was taking forever, the server gave us two options - either wait for the food or get a refund for food (as we've already paid!) Of course, I could not let my team members starve, so we decided to stay, but I wondered who could compensate for our wasted time of almost an hour.When the food finally came out, the server told us that he believed our food must have gone to a big table on the other side of the patio. That was his excuse. And of course, the kitchen missed our Guacamole on nachos, so we had to ask for it again. It's clear that their system is messy and not organized at all.Thank you, TAPshack, for helping our special occasion turn into an awkward waiting!

Elizabeth Barker: I hate writing this review because we have lived in Vancouver for over 2 years and have enjoyed coming here in the summers. This summer has been a huge disappointment. The location is great for sure and the food is pricy but has always been fine (plus it wasn’t the main reason we would come). The issue is the service this summer. For some reason it is now order at the bar or on the app so you don’t have a server. That means every table is dirty and even if there aren’t dirty dishes there the table hasn’t been wiped off (and you can’t find anyone to do it). You don’t get water served at the table (again, you can’t find anyone to give it to you). The only vodka available was Grey Goose which was almost $20 (they said they were sold out of everything else). Then the drinks took forever to arrive and they were warm and watered down. Just tonight the person dropped off our drinks and we tried to get them to wipe down the table and they ignored us and just walked away. We ordered food and had no utensils. The floor is disgusting—dirty napkins, pizza crusts, crushed up crackers, etc. The workers dropping food and drinks off just step right over it. This is such a change from last summer when there were hosts, servers, and definitely more tables. Tonight both our entrees arrived cold (over $20 each). The bottom line is this is a great location with a beautiful view but obviously they don’t have the staff to run it properly. I hope by next summer it is back to way it has been in the past because for the price of the food and the drinks I feel there are WAY better restaurants that are clean and provide at least a basic level of service—like clean tables and floors. (Only giving 2 stars because I love the location and have enjoyed it in the past—otherwise if I were a tourist trying it out for the first time it would definitely be less).

But worst service I’ve had for a long time, said even with post covid empathy.But now changed to a QR code to order at the bar… then took ages (30mins) to get our drinks and watched the server wandered around aimlessly to find our table eventually. Loads of others waiting as well and all paid up front (Inc tip!). Pizzas looked alright (but table next to us were waiting for 45mins to get theirs and sounded like they were in holiday) but rest of food looked very poor (nachos, yikes!??!) and lots of people had not eaten what they had ordered (the crows were happy). Sad as we’d brought out of town visitors and this was a very disappointing experience. Won’t be back unless a big improvement unfortunately… hope management is reading this.

We have the carne poutine that was just a blob of gray meat and gravy and tasted like greasy KFC, and the spicy agadashi tofu.... which was, no joke, a block of tofu cut diagonally, deep fried and served with a side of FRANKS HOT sauce.... It was honestly pretty comical and we were tipsy and starving enough to eat it, but that will certainly go down as one of the most bizarre and gross meals Ive ever spent $20 on. Service was slow, but they were clearly overwhelmed. Id say wait for a table nextdoor at Mahoneys, its much more worth it!
