More Tea, Please: All of our children are patients at Three Story, and the doctors and MOA have been absolutely amazing. These were the first doctors to listen to what the kids had to say, and they payed attention to what the kids weren't saying, as well. They didn't brush the kids off as being ill-behaved, which has happened in the past, but worked to find out what was actually going on and to support them in the ways that worked *for the kids*.Lynn, the MOA, is fabulous. I was bothered at first that the phone line isn't answered, but in two and a half years I don't think I've waited more than five minutes for a response to my emails during business hours. She's friendly and cheerful, is quick to help, and can decipher my awkwardly-worded emails no problem. She's miles above a lot of MOAs that I've encountered, and we so appreciate her effort.
Victoria Nash: Whoever responds to their emails is extremely rude and aloof. They don't even answer their phone so there's no way to bypass this person. Terrible bedside manner, and in a profession where you'd expect much better.
Sarah Gilmour: thank you to Lynn for always answering my emails for prescription help! My doctors are the best too!
Matt L: Not sure about the other reviews on here, but i have to say DR.Naidoo is the best doctor our family has ever used. She treats both of my sons with ASD and she is caring, intelligent and helpful. She has helped our family on her own time on many occasions and genuinely seems to care. Couldnt recommend a better doctor.
Deb L.: Our family has been fortunate enough to work w several on the therapeutic team over the years. Each therapist and psychiatrist has been professional, supportive and has helped immensely. The office would not run as smoothly without Lynn at the front. She is courteous, personable and goes the extra mile to ensure appointments are booked promptly and that clients feel well taken care of. Highly recommend.
Charlotte Guo: I liked my psychiatrist Dr. Naidoo, she was very helpful and insightful.Getting paperwork done took a long time. A few months back asked receptionist if she had any availabilities for my psychiatrist in the following month as I was flying back from across the country from school in the next week. She asked if I could make it on the day of in one hour. Right on, let me just teleport over. It's not her duty to magically create availability but that was very questionable.Additionally does not understand how to deal with patients tackling anger issues. So I decided I'll let another more capable team take care of my BS 😖
Deanna Livesey: I am super disappointed with the appointment that we waited 6 months for. My son has been experiencing anxiety and depression for years with medication being managed by a family doctor who recently referred us to the clinic for help. The psychiatrist asked all about my son’s history and took a lot of notes then asked what he could help us with. I told him that I was hoping to get some tools for my son to help manage his anxiety and depression as well as things I should look out for or be concerned about as his anxieties have changed over the years. I also wanted input on his medication and if it is the correct dose. He said he could only address the medication and that my son’s does was low so he could increase it. The rest of what I wanted to know needed to be addressed by a counsellor..... but he did not give me any guidance on what to do next.... he didn’t even offer advice on who would be a good counsellor to see to address my son’s problems or even give me a name of someone who specializes in helping children. I thought the clinic specialized in helping children??? But all I left with was an increase in the same medication my son was already taking.
Krista Long: Great clinic, super understanding of my needs. Staff and practitioners are so friendly and helpful, highly recommend!
Alexandra Montoya: They cancelled my appointment as I hadn't confirmed it, however, never asked for my appointment to be cancelled. I work full-time and go to school full-time so am pretty inaccessible during regular business hours. I serve so had to take the day off work for this. No apology or remorse over the incident, only a justification of why it was cancelled. Not even a hint at an apology. Needless to say, really annoyed at the lack their of consideration or validation of my frustrations. I'll save this for the shrink though. Currently rescheduled two months from now. Hoping too o change my opinion and this review but an annoyed over the way this was handled.
Lauren F: Wonderful clinic. Dr. Greenaway has created such a beautiful and safe space for all of the young people and their families that walk through her doors. I feel so fortunate to be a patient there. Also Lynn (the MOA), is awesome!
Samantha Pearson: Went and saw Kelly (Counselor) at this clinic. Terrible experience, stay away!

Clobberella: Complete waste of time. My 60 minute appointment was over in under 10 minutes. Asked very superficial questions, cut off responses, didn't ask follow up questions. Made assumptions, and called it a day.
Mikey: Do not go for RTMS here. Going on day 3 of headache, extreme pain behind eye and my ears ringing technician not properly trained. Do better research or do it a UBC as I feel you would be in better hands
Carah Holmes: Dr. Brost is very caring, kind and efficient. He has truly helped me through my journey during the highs and lows. The receptionists are also lovely. They are patient and informative.
Broderick Griffey-Krist: They will get you in fast, and it's a subsidized clinic by the Provincial government meaning you'll spend less money than anywhere else.If you feel comfortable with being provided rTMS for treatment of depression without diagnostic imaging such as Quantative Electroencephalagraph or fMRI, then go here.Personally I would suggest using diagnostics before treatment your most precious organ, the brain.QEEG Neurofeedback or Cognitive behavioral therapy, Hypnosis, EMDR, Emotion Code, or Tapping, as it's called are better alternatives to begin researching into & doing.
Elizabeth Haley: Consistent, caring and reliable. Provided services in the most accessible way I have ever seen an organization do. Highly recommend for your mental health recovery to reach out to MDABC.
Becky Donoghue: Dropped me as a patient when my issues became too much.
Will T: This is a failed experiment, as is evidenced by the Centre's recent closing down of the Robson St. clinic and the association's merger with another dubious charity. Furthermore I am told by staff that the doctors have been fleeing the place in droves and patients are being purged from the system. This decline and fall is what is deserved. As a patient there for two years, attending their goofy "Group Medical Visits" (GMV) I have yet to witness anything like "group therapy" happening in the meeting rooms. It's just a crowd prescriptions filling! The doctors - not all, but many - are barely "there" in their minds. They refuse to communicate with patients individually. The docs rarely respond to patient email messages. Likewise, they refuse to communicate with pharmacies when something goes wrong with a prescription, such as when a patient misses a "GMV" but needs his prescriptions anyway, or when a patient inadvertently forgets to request one particular med at the GMV.They say they are performing a wonderful new innovative service to mental health patients. It's baloney! Since most of the docs there are working pro bono, it is unclear just WHO is being served! The only imaginable winner is BC Healthcare itself, by way of a sizable reduction of doctor visit fees paid out when one doctor sees a dozen patients at a single consult.Don't waste your time with these people.
Jay Omega: Worst psychiatrist I've ever talked to. Recommended the strongest most dangerous drugs after a 1 minute conversation. Was incapable of listening. Terribly unprofessional and 100% bound to the tainted body of information coming from pharmaceutical companies where actual good psychiatrists are better listeners, more open minded, and have respect for the intelligence of their patients.
Michael Sarvari: This organization does some of the most meaningful work I've ever seen for those struggling with a mood disorder. I would recommend their services to anyone.
Jillian Robertson: I have been a participant in the Food and Mood, Group Therapy and Medication consultation. I am so impressed with the kind and sincere caring treatment I have received. My journey has been long but I feel like I can cope so much better with this team.
Ingrid S: I also am thankful that I have found this place. My doctor referred me here after I had a difficult time finding the right psychologist fit. I went to see one of the counselors and found him very helpful in my particular situation(s) and went back to see him again a couple years later. I found my session very helpful.
Alice Knowlden: For almost 5 years this place has been a safe haven for me and has helped me through the toughest times in my life. Thank you to all who make this place run and, especially Dr. Remick, for helping me find myself again.
Sarah J.: This place absolutely saved my life. Dr. Torbicki is the best psychiatrist I've ever seen.
Paula: I am so glad that this Assoc. is available to anyone - you only need a referral and that can be from any walk-in clinic etc. They really do get individuals immediate help (often with a needed medication), and then the group visits are very useful. Remember, these are highly trained Psychiatrists who are interviewing you and following up with you in the group sessions. There is no easy way to see a Psychiatrist by yourself on a regular basis. Although I have not been to any of the Behavioural sessions offered by the Psychologists on staff (these are the ones you pay for), I am sure some of these 'courses' are very useful. Someday, I hope most G.P.'s offices will have a Clinical Psychologist on staff to assist with patients closer to home. There is still a long way for Canada and the world to improve Mental Health access and assistance. My one constructive comment for the association is that : The new location's waiting room is small and the clerical staff and others engage in 'office chat & laughter' which is normal in an office, but disconcerting in this type of place where clients who are waiting are frequently very depressed and unhappy. I would really appreciate if the staff in the waiting room area were mindful of this and chatted etc. in a quiet tone so as to be respectful of the clients. At the other location, it was very calm and quiet, which is best for such a setting.
Robb Hogan: Continued support and I have always felt listened to.
S. Regis: I've given this extra star only because it's a necessary alternative to an inexcusably long wait list for people needing help.I feel for Camille, the Borderline dx seems to be the diagnosis du jour for women, yet despite the lip service, it leads to prejudice in any other clinical setting yet it's handed down from on-high in 10 minutes? In itself, the group visit was awful I felt any disagreement or discussion with the psychiatrist running the group would have been given a pat answer, well I was, and there is an implied "That's enough from you" No matter how you feel. there's no one to see after, you're rushed out, and your choice is the E.R. No one should leave a psychiatric visit crying with no follow-up.I was in emotional agony, but had to put on a brave face and after one protest, nod yes whatever the Doctor said. "See you again in three months"I left feeling alone and scared, not knowing where else to go. I heard another woman sobbing in the bathroom, she had been at the same visit. It feels like a McDonald's drive through. Shame on the system.
Dorothy J: The doctors are down to earth and practical. I have never been promised a "cure" but I have been heard and allowed input to my own mental health concerns.I don't care for group visits much, but prefer it over no help or paying through the nose for just a med change.I just wish my chosen doctor was not booked fully so often; I would like to just stick with the 1 rather than whoever has an opening in 2 weeks.
A Scott: Honestly, I'm so grateful I was referred to this clinic because I've had nothing but great experiences here. I've been seeing Dr Gorman for the past year and a half, and he's helped me diagnose my disorder, understand/how to cope with it, and aid in my "recovery" process. The wait times can be a little off-putting, but I promise that it's probably worth the awesome psychiatrists.
Camille o'rourke: At best, this organization is a mental health assembly line. I've been struggling with depression and anxiety for years. Was given a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder after a 10 minute interview with the doctor.
Sacha O: I started out at this place by having an intake by a cold but professional woman, who immediately prescribed me medication, which i am grateful for. Since then she has left the practice and I have been volleyed between a few different doctors for group medical visits, which just are not for me.Its uncomfortable enough speaking to a stranger about your issues without a room full of people judging and hearing about your personal issues. The last meeting I attended i spoke to the three psychiatrists that were there and all i left with was a book recommendation for mindfulness written on a scrap piece of paper. The prescribing doctor kept looking at the clock while i expressed how my mental health was hindering my success and how awful I felt. I was looking for support and coping mechanisms, or a referral to an ADHD specific Dr. and he let me walk out of the office crying with a book recommendation. Mental health support in this city is dismal, and I shudder to think what people with more severe mental health concerns go through to get the bare minimum of support. Won't be going back here. I feel as if I wasted a year trying to get support from doctors who don't care.

Raziel Aguilar: This is the best we can do for mental health? Joke
James S: I was hesitant to go here because of all the negative reviews, but I’m so glad I did. It quite literally saved my life. I think a lot of the negative experiences might be due to not understanding what the A&A Centre is. What it is: a last resort, bandaid solution for mental health crises. What it is NOT: a long term solution, a doctor’s clinic, a counselling service. You cannot get meds prescribed here. You will initially be seen by a nurse or social worker who does a basic assessment (the ones I saw were actually very caring, kind and non-judgemental). If warranted they may sched a follow up appointment. They can provide info about various mental health & addiction services; but they do not provide those services in-house.If you are feeling like you are close to attempting, I would urge you to either call the suicide hotline, visit an ER or even call 911 before going here. The A&A Centre can’t provide any immediate or direct help, but they can be useful if you need someone to talk to / organize your thoughts / plan next steps.Only reason I gave 4/5 stars is because most of the front desk staff are mean, rude, impatient people who should not be working in healthcare. However the nurse, social worker and psychiatrist I saw were the complete opposite.
G reals: I first attended AAC at the beginning of the summer 2022 as a walk in and later in the summer returned as a walk in. I understand the reviews where people have felt slighted or angry afterwards, I won't say that every single interaction I've had there has been amazing BUT I genuinely feel lucky to have been able to access the services and help I have.I had asked my family doctor to refer me to a psychiatrist and she told me in Canada it can take up to 18 months to be seen. I didn't have 18 months to wait and going to AAC really was my last ditch effort to ask for help. I had a friend who told me it was terrible and not to go there. I couldn't be happier that I didn't heed her. I've had repeat appointments with physiatrists, had safety calls from clinicians which were invaluable and was referred to outpatient therapy. Public health (especially mental health) is so under funded and under-resourced and so I couldn't feel more grateful to have been able to access what I know, for me, were life saving services.Update: I wish people leaving reviews telling people not to go here would consider how helpful that is. I feel so sorry for anyone who had a negative experience but a review containing all the negative things you experienced may be far more helpful without including "don't go here". That simple statement could very well steer someone away from a service that may save their life. At least provide an alternative that you have found helpful.
Emma: I walked myself to the AAC late at night in the middle of an episode just to be told I'm not sick enough, my BMI is not low enough to get help for my ED, and I'd have to wait up to a year to see a psychiatrist. I attempted the second I got home.
Golden Mushroom 64: Was left on hold indefinitely. Abhorrent services from sheer narcissists who do not respect your time nor care one bit about helping you
Ad C: Terribly slow, do not go here in-person for anxiety it will make it worse. Security was useless, allowing smokers inside the doors and directly outside the building. People inside were fine, but if you have anxiety this is not the place for you. Better to just get a phone call.
sophiemarin: My experience with the AAC was wonderful. I arrived at 7:50 AM and was seen by 8:30 AM. Christine was the nurse I spoke to. She was kind, patient, and very understanding. She spent over an hour speaking with me and helping me understand my situation better. I felt incredibly cared for and heard. If possible, arrive early so you’re able to be seen quickly. I would recommend this place to anyone in a crisis.
Georgia Finley: Don’t come here if you are suicidal. They will give you the final push to end your life. I was told I have the skills to cope and will receive a follow up phone call. No use in a phone call if your dead.
Tom Foolery: Do not go here for mental health help. It does not stay between you and the psychiatrist- it ends up on your permanent medical record that follows you for life. I was shocked when I went to emergency at st.Paul’s a week ago and the emergency room doctor told me I had OCD (in front of everyone waiting in the waiting room) - which I don’t and asked why he thinks that. He told me it is on record from the time I went to this center. Dr Asiago saw me for a half hour and diagnosed me and didn’t tell me and put it on my permanent record? I do not have any diagnosis and having had any mental health issues since. Also the reason I went to the access and assessment Center was also noted (I was having a rough heartbreak when I was younger). All these years later apparently any doctor that has ever seen me has had access to my personal information that I shared with a psychiatrist.
Sky Ning: My girlfriend went in as an outpatient to seek help with PTSD and anxiety disorder and they told her that they can’t help her.
yara yozef: Zero stars. Met with Karyn the clinician, she ripped my safety plan, dropped the pen, and is generally very rude and hasty. She mispronounced my name and laughed. Im not sure why somebody like that is hired to deal with cases of suicide and mental health. She made me feel worse than ever and when i figure out her last name im submitting a report about her.
Good Vibes: This place saved my life.
Meg Meg: The people here are very kind and extremely professional.
Alan Smith: Brought someone to this center three years ago. Mental health intake is very challenging and needs to be done differently. This center makes enormous sense. They had a psychiatric nurse available within 15 minutes. Was looking it up tonight to recommend it to a friend.
Hoffer: This place is, no offence, but a joke. I was made to wait just to fill in forms and then I saw a person of lower rank than a nurse. All I learned was the name of a sleeping pill I could ask my GP about. For this place to run properly, like for example the RAACs center at St. Pauls, the patient should see a psychiatrist.
Renée LaFlam: The AAC has had a hand in saving my life.TW: I felt suicidal and the counseling they've provided to me has helped anchor me. It's so nice to have a rapid access clinic for mental health emergencies so that I don't have to go to the emergency department at the hospital like what I used to have to do.A big thank you to all the employees that make this place possible! They have a first come, first serve basis clinic if you urgently need to speak to someone. Otherwise, if you call in, I believe you can make an appointment. Keep in mind when calling in that the phone lines can be very busy. But don't let that stop you. Keep trying and stay strong!
Sylvia: Got the support I needed. The Segal Bldg is very well designed with private rooms and outdoor spaces. You have to open up to accept the help.
Len Peters: Do not, repeat, no not have anything to do with this place or any VCH mental health facility. They are rude, condescending and paternalistic in the extreme. Visiting VGH psychiatry destroyed the therapeutic relationship I had with both my family doctor and psychiatrist. The trauma the cause is still with me and they don't remotely care when they do it.I will never trust a doctor or hospital again. They rate ZERO stars.
S L: I had a very bad experience with Dr.Akpokiere the phsyciatrist. She was rude and judgemental because I had a criminal record. She basically only focused her questions on my back ground, family history and my past charges. Acted like she had no interest in helping me and was only going through the motions. Acted like i was lying about my issues and interrogated me about the timeline and order of events happening. Spent more time on asking about my siblings and parents relationship than she did about identifying my symptoms, what i have wrong with me and how it negatively affects my ability to work or live a normal life. She breifly touched on a few things that have caused me severe trauma. I started having panic attacks right in front of her. Shaking, sobbing, muscle spasms and tears streaming down my face....then she asks....when was the last panic attack i've had?!Does this woman know what she's doing at all?So long story short I left there with her trying to put me on paxil or celexa or prozac. These are things that havent worked for me. I am already on Zoloft and its not good enough, it helped hugely but not so much that i can work or do therapy. I havent been able to work, go to a movie, eat out or go shopping in a mall for more than 5 years because of my anxiety and panic attacks. I wasnt about to try and argue with her about it when im not feeling well. So i left very frustrated and discouraged. I thought this was going to help me get to a place where i could get better...do therapy....go to work again...live normal.Ridiculous when your trying to get help and people screw you around. Im ashamed that i let her get away with that but i really cant be assertive when im having panic attacks. My experience with the Phsyc. nurse during my first appointment was great however. She was very considerate and helpfull. And she seemed genuine and that she actually cared. She understood what I was going through with panic disorder and took the time to really talk and even read my journalling to understand how things were for me.The front desk was for the most part helpfull definitely conducted themselves professionally.
B C: Please, if you value your one precious life, stay away from this place. I am so ashamed I referred others here through my volunteer work and that I trusted the staff here myself. I came in with post-viral insomnia & fatigue and found myself on 3 medications including an amphetamine after just 4 months seeing a psychiatrist here. The medications nearly killed me - literally - and the subsequent withdrawal (which I had to do with no support, at home with my family by my side) has left me hardly recognizable 2 years out. It is not in my nature to write anything disparaging about anyone, but for public safety I need to state here that the receptionist, ASTAT nurse and doctor I interacted with here should not be allowed to work with the public. I feel sorry for the good-hearted people who fund this institution, not knowing how much it is harming people who come in genuinely thinking they are doing the responsible thing for their health.
Susan Small: The AAC is a great idea, I felt too much pressure to "get better' as soon as possible. It felt (to me) as if they get you in, assess, if your lucky you'll get to talk with a person with an alphabet after their name. But after a few weeks calls start from them asking do you need more help? We want to close your file. If that happens, you have to start the whole process over again. It's taken me 15+ yrs., to ask for help. PLEASE don't expect me to 'know if I'm better in a short 8 weeks. AAC is a step in the right direction.

Wyatt Cameron: The doctors and staff here have been amazing in helping me through my mental health issues. I'm not sure where the bad reviews on here come from, but.. it is a place that deals with people with mental health issues that have gotten in trouble for criminal behaviour (such as myself!), So take that into account for the harsh and outlandish claims made. I have had nothing but an amazing experience and they have gotten me into a stable state of mind through some effort on my part. Amazing people.
