Ame Toy & Gift Store Japanese toys: what do users think?
Alvin Ho: Easily the store with the most complete selection in town and extremely knowledgeable staff. The low reviews all target the high prices and don't do the store any justice. Keep in mind that this is a local store in West Vancouver with very real costs: (1) ever-increasing rent in the highest cost of living city in Canada and (2) import fees. Staff were very friendly. I stayed for a good 1.5 hours before buying anything and they didn't give me any attitude.Give them a chance, and you'll be positively surprised. Will definitely come back in the near future.
chris rossi: Doesn't update his website regularlyI drove one hour to his store for something that was on his website as "in stock"Only to get there and find out it wasn'tAlso he was not very helpful or engaging in conversation, such a shame, it could be a great store otherwiseAs an addition to my comment, I am not bullying your store I am complaining that your store said the item I wanted was in stock and I had to drive an hour to get there for you to tell me it wasn't, you need to update your inventory so nobody else makes a useless journey as I did
shaypeezy marie: Was so excited to come here after hearing from a friend but was very disappointed. Was treated with extreme disrespect which caught me off guard because I wasn’t expecting that at all. Didn’t spend $1 in that place and I never would it’s way to high in price anyways! Save your money and order from somewhere else or visit another store. Not worth your time at all
TC TC: If i could give a 0 i would. Worst japanese collectible store ive ever been to. Super high in price. Super rude staff. After leaving the store seeing the item i wanted was super expensive, i left and purchased the same item online DIRECTLY FROM JAPAN for $25 cheaper and that included shipping. Never returning and you should never come here either
S MP: Terrible TERRIBLE customer service. Tried to overcharge me for something that CLEARLY had a price tag on it already. In no way would I pay OVER $50 for a tiny keychain lol. Literally ridiculous. I’ve been to plenty of Japanese toy stores & have NEVER paid that much. The staff were INCREDIBLY rude and I don’t even leave reviews but I had to make one for this place because I just couldn’t believe my experience. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF IT WAS THE LAST JAPANESE TOY STORE ON EARTH.
ECJ RAPS: Racist and aggressive to whites. Not sorry for saying so. Never Been spoken to so rudely in my life. You'd be best to just order their over priced junk on amazon
Laser Beam: A shop jam packed with neat stuff, but so overpriced it would be physically painful to actually buy anything. I wanted to support a local shop but the mark up for items that are still in production is nearly 400%. Far cheaper to buy directly from Japan even with shipping and import fees.
Stanley Shi: Way overpriced
Nao: This store is amazing and i like it so much, lots of things to choose from!! I have came here 2 times already and i enjoy every visit, thank you staff also for being so kind and helping me find what i wanted :).
David Ozawa: The owner of the shop, Sean, is extremely knowledgeable about what he does. Everything down to the what he sells to how the industry is ran. I spent almost two hours just hanging out with him talking and it was truly a joy to do that. I specifically came up from Seattle to check his shop out and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. Walking through his store reminded me of some of the older shops in Japan so it was very nostalgic to be in the shop. He had so many rare gundam kits, figures, and char goods and it was hard to choose just a few things. I walked away with a handful things I’ve been looking for so the visit was definitely worth it. I’m more than willing to make the trip up here again to visit Sean and look through more rarities.
拓哉千翼: One of the best stores I’ve seen here in terms of stock. Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing amount of rare, new, old, and so forth items. I could spend my whole day here just looking at stuff had the items not be extremely overpriced and the store itself be very claustrophobic. And on top of that, they don’t allow photos, which I think is a bit ridiculous but it is what it is. The prices are so high that it would be cheaper to just buy it directly online from Japan and pay shipping, I’ve did the math. But I still recommend coming here, just to look at their cool items.
Izzy Hohol: Quality products, great selection and wonderful staff
S E: A hidden gem to find authentic anime products/gatcha! The owner is well knowledged about the products he carries and is friendly and fun to talk to!
Owen Post: Very nice selection of anime merchandise that is hard to find in BC
Col Key: Amazing anime figure store!!!!Some figures we have been looking for after years, we found here.Owner/staff is very nice and knowledgeable.
Chih-Yi Yang: this is hilarious, i bought a gift for my friend and found out he has the same one and therefore i wanted to return it. I asked and you said you can only refund store credit while the product is overpriced compared to the one my friend bought. Why would I buy a stuff I already knew he has and waste my time here telling you my opinion? I did not lie nor bully your store but only reflect my true opinion about my experience here. how does thing count as bully if I only said what happened?
Marcus Wang: The place was too small and selection were okay but the staff provided excellent service and he is friendly.
TheEquivalentXchange: If you are looking for something in particular from Japan, they will have it. Definitely worth the extra $$ especially if you factor shipping.
selina yuan: Treasure Japanese toy store actually has a reward. I didn't expect it. I searched all over Vancouver but I can't see a second store that can win a reward.

I found exactly the doll I needed for my girl, and it was at a much more reasonable value. Friendly customer service, and it was easy to get to.
yvette y tang: Not much selection.....
kchowa: Great cute little toy store. Small but still can find great gifts and gift ideas.Covid protocols , they limit # of people coming in. There's also divider at the cashier which is pretty standard these days.We found some of those popular jellycat stuffed animals and found some that are apparently rare to find. Also some fun fruit and vegetable jellycat plush toys. Also lots of little odds and ends
Siqin Liu: There are lots of cute toys there! I love how many Jellycat they have. I go check regularly every season.

The Granville Island Toy Company: what do users think?
crywalkr: This is a neat little toy store on Main Street that's packed full of modern and retro toys. They had some cool toys from the 80s like Slinky, an Etch-A-Sketch and Lite Brite as well as the latest Playmobil and Lego sets. My one disappointment is that they didn't have a traditional Jack in the Box. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I hope to go back one day
David Wu: Great service and great unique selection. Definitely a place we'll be going back to.
Cosmo Kwan: Love this store! Great toys and clean and friendly staffs. Well stocked and organized!

Macaw: I went to diecast hunt for siku. I was dissapointed to find only a couple. Store is small

McTy: Great toy store with the perfect amount of variety. Premium Legos with limited supply are available here currently.
Kirk Chantraine: Great selection and very nice staff 😊

Kurt Zellner: Really cool bookstore with a good variety of books. Had the books we were looking for!
Arsh Raina: Great place to read books!
Sebastian J. Smith: Was looking to kill some time before happy hour, so my gf and I went here to browse around. We had a fun little photo/edit challenge while we were here. They have a fun selection of knick knacks and books, plus they have a Starbucks on the top floor. Each space of this location is different, which made venturing around the store even more fun!
Jessica Adam: Have not received my refunds after over a month AND their chat feature just sends you in circles when I just want to talk to a person. Pathetic.
Amer qureshi: Excellent place for shopping for family & friends.
Jessica: A nice clean store. Sometimes the staff are less than helpful, other times okay. It is best to go during off hours as during peak hours, the store is uncomfortably crowded to be in.
Jay Laxdal: Found what I wanted and wasn't too busy.
Monika Sage: Good
Fei (Fiona): Giant store, loved the selections
Ralph William Kausen: ...batted 0 for 8... had nothing I searched for ... and Starbucks was gone.... (good customer service though!!)😐

MOKO Kourechian: Very friendly staff
Michael Brooks: This is truly a literary experience! Staff is always friendly, good selection of niche items. Starbucks here is great. Always come and always leave with quite a few items. Too much to describe here. You have to see it to believe it!

Veronica Romay G de Quevedo: My kids and I love to go to this store! The variety of toys is really good and the service from the staff, amazing!
Williàm White: Not enough models.
Kathleen edwards: I would very much like express my delightful experience from ordering on line. I ordered a very hard to find Playmobil Advent calendar on Saturday. This item was sold out everywhere in all of Vancouver and surrounding areas. My grand daughter wanted one very badly. I placed the order last Saturday afternoon and received it this morning with Canada Post. I had sent 3 messages to their support team and my messages were answered almost immediately. I was very impressed. They went above and beyond to help me and make my grand daughter one very happy girl . I HIGHLY recommend and I will be doing all my toy shopping for my 4 grand children from here for many years to come. This was my first experience shopping with them and I’m a happy grandma . Thank you 😊
Jordier Hillicci: Called twice to put something on hold. Bussed all the way there that day to be told they sold it...

Baaad Anna's Yarn Store: what do users think?
Jeffrey Wonser: SUCH a cute store! Excellent selection! We arrived right at 1100a and found the store open. The lady inside was very nice and cheerful! We're tourists, but always like to take in local stores. This one's a gem!
Katie Morgan: Recently took a trip to Vancouver and stayed downtown. I was hoping for walking distance which wasn't the case. I was unable to visit the store as I would have to drive and there was a large homeless population on the street around the shop. 5 stars regardless as I'm sure I would have loved it. I hope they change location soon.
Rebecca W: Incredibly helpful staff and great selection.
Nicholas: Really nice and took the time to explain the differences in materials to me
Becky Bub: Thus is the best place for me to buy my fibre for felting. I love to come to buy what i need for my felting hobby. Staff r very friendly they have a good selection of fibre and yarn and whatever u need to felt, knit, crochet, weaving or spinning. This is my go to store. I love coming here.
A Lavoie: Always a fantastic stop in Vancouver, not just for knitting but most fiber related crafts.
Chad Rattie: Excellent experience! Very helpful staff and lots of yarn 😊
Lynda Marie Neilson: Awesome LYS with tons of cool hand dyed and local dyed yarn! Leave your credit cards behind and window shop!
Catherine Rogers: There is a very nice selection of unusual yarns, well organized. Other related wool products to such as felting g kits are also available along with gift items and accessories. I found just what I needed, very pleased.
Mia Thegreat: Smaller then desired selection of hooks and needles but huge selection for parts to spin, twist, weave yarn. Considerate and knowledgeable staff and lots of locally made nick nacks like stitch counters and darning needles for sale.
Carolyn T.: Great variety of merchandise (including needle felting supllies) and super helpful.
Tania Colina: Fun yarn shop with a great variety of local yarns, books and lots of knitting accessories. Great selection of needles and crochet supplies, fun embroidery kits and very knowledgeable staff.
Barbara Hoodspith: I thought I had found my new local yarn store. First 2 visits were great. Today? Infuriating. I was there at 5 minutes to opening. 2 others joined me. 2 clerks in the store. Great …. Nope. They looked at their watches and walked away ( 1 to straighten tags). Kept me waiting (why???) until exactly 11 am on Christmas Eve. The 2 other customers left. Acknowledgement would have been nice. Better = to not walk in front of the door several times. ( just yo be sure we saw they were ignoring us) Best = open 4 minutes early ( before the other 2 customers left). So …. New customer = gone. I’ll drive to my favourite or shop online. Tags come first here. No accommodation for customers. Had I not Needed the yarn I bought today ($100+) I too would have left. But I won’t be back. I want to shop where customers are wanted … not an inconvenience to tag straightening. Were they wrong. No. Just zero accommodation to customers. They can do so much better.
Andy Sandberg: Extremely helpful!I needed a very specific yarn to mend a jumper, and at first I wanted to browse on my own (that's my default preference anywhere) and the woman attending the store left me to it with zero fuss, but as soon as I did need assistance she was immediately super helpful and found me exactly what I needed. The selection is fantastic, and the people are Wonderful. Also important to note that the shop recently doubled in size (they haven't moved, just added the nextdoor shop) so the range that's out and available is even wider than before! So exciting.
Jeannie Magenta: This store is full of the most exquisite yarns in so many fabulous colors. The staff are super helpful and great to answer any questions you may have. I would highly recommend going for a visit.
Peter Rolfe: Totally Bodacious Yarn Shop! Fantastic selection! Great Prices. LOTS of hand dyed yarn. Amazing staff!
Kevin Wu: Lovely little shop for all things knit related. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Sarah LeSage: My partners go-to yarn store. They have tons of varieties and colours and brands, and they have recently expanded their floor space. They also have equipment rentals, just ask! We rented a spinning wheel once and it was a lot of fun. :) They sell instructional booklets, accessories, felting needles, embroidery and cross stitch kits, buttons, and many different knitting needle sizes and types. An excellent store for the knitter, crochet-er, felt-er, and general craft lover. 👍
Emma: Gonna be nice place for those who started crocheting🤟🏻
Sylvia vanderHeide: Great selection of locally made products. Very knowledgeable owner. This place was very worth my detour!
Mia November: Loooooooooove this store and adore the name. Super helpful staff and just really nice people in general. Great yarn selection!

OOMOMO Japan Living: what do users think?
Hamid Attarzadeh: Nice place with unique and cheap items you won't find anywhere else. The staff are very nice and kind.
_-_-: Love this place! Things are mostly 3$ and they have a good variety of snacks. Not everything is 3$ though so please watch out when putting stuff into your cart! Although you would want to buy almost everything there which is tempting, they come at different prices. I got a lot of great stationary here for a reasonable price though!
Sadiqa Ansari: Staff is rude and seems angry at everything. It was store closing hours and the usual procedure is to close the gates 15 mins prior and not letting in anyone new. But the ones who were already inside do get billed on things they buy. I just had a single item to buy and the woman kept yelling no multiple times. Not going in ever again.
Octavio Rodriguez: OOMOMO Japan Living is yet another iteration of a very successful business model that other chains from Japan brought to Vancouver, among these DAISO, MINISO, etc. In all of these, the concept is similar to that of a dollar store; however, prices are higher than that, but still very affordable. Their 2 floor location on Robson Street is well stocked with a variety of items: housewares, kitchenware, office supplies and even a make-up and snack & beverage section. Quality is pretty decent, comparable to other similar businesses, always fun to check out their selection, worth a visit...
Jennifer S.: I found Romand lip tints and they were 5 -6 dollars cheaper than amazon!
Shannon Richmond: Very cool Japanese store! Street parking only, but it is an accessible store.Wide variety of products from beauty, kitchenware, school supplies, candies, home decor, toys etc. There Is a 2nd level accessible by stairs at the front of the store as well as by an elevator at the back of the store. We will go back for sure!!
Michele Barrett: Terrific variety of Japanese items: two floors with sooo much to view. Cute cute cute stuff here, decent prices for these imported products. Beautiful and practical housewares and fun gift items as well.
Abigail: Lots of reasonably priced items for beauty and home, I could take an hour browsing the aisles
Bing Z: Great selection of stuff!
Ava Yeganeh: A very amazing place where you can almost find almost everything.
American Diesel SA: Nice store
Susie: Terrible quality things, don’t waste your money here
Rene Wang: I really didn't want to leave a bad review because I think the store is cute, and I usually love stores like this and try to support small local businesses. But I feel like it's important to warn people. We visited the store and bought 8 soy sauce plates. I was on the fence about them and didn't love them. Since I was only 60% sure about the plates, I wanted to make sure they are refundable. So I specifically asked the check-out clerk about refund policy and she confirmed with me that they have a 1 month refund policy. And then I doubled-checked again and she confirmed it's refundable in 30 days. I thought ok if there's a 1 month refund period, then I can buy them, and go home and think about it.At the end I still didn't love them and didn't want to keep them. My husband brought them back to the store within the refund period they told us about. They were all completely brand new. I didn't removed any of them from the original packaging and none of them was ever used. And the store now changed their tune and said that all sales are final and no refunds for anything they sell.If they were consistent and upfront about their no-refund policy when we purchased the products, we wouldn't have been unhappy and would've respected their policy (I wouldn't have purchased them). It just feels very dishonest to tell the customers that there's a 1-month refund period to lull us into buying the products and then take it back. It felt dishonest. It's very unfortunate because I LOVE Japanese stores like this (I LOVE Muji and Daiso) and was hoping this would be a new store I could frequent (we did buy quite a few items from them). But we will not be going back.
N HAYER: Great product selection and service
Erica Fritch: Fun, cute, unique gift and home decor items.
Lindsay K Reid: Just stumbled on this place and I found lots of cool little things - great for stocking stuffers!
Wu Hong hong: In this store you can find some interesting things
Holly: So cute! I want all the items haha
Jo W: You can find a lot of housewares here
loxanoxa: I loved this place. I dropped like 50 bucks on kitchen gadgets and candy 🤫🤪

ODIN BOOKS: what do users think?
Scott Musgrave: Lots of selection. Easy to order anything they don’t already have. Knowledgable staff.
J: Kind and helpful staff with a good selection of mental health books. Free parking in the back for customers.
Daniel Jordan: The sales staff at ODIN are exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to their collection of mental health books. I appreciate Catherine’s continued dedication to educating mental health professionals here in Vancouver.
Sia Shaygi-Nik: Good service and professional. They followed up with me as soon as my online order was ready for pick up.
mike schmidke: Best place to buy books. Great amount of books for everyone
Life in Glow Wellness (* a bit of Miracles *): A wonderful store for those who are looking for self-development books and tools for various ages. Can be especially of interest to practitioners of helping professions, parents looking for ideas for meaningful gifts for kids, and anyone interested in psychology, therapy and wellness. Also it is the only store in Vancouver (as far as I know), which offers a collection of MACards ( metaphorical associative cards ), especially many decks from the OH-cards series which I highly recommend to anyone as it is a fantastic tool for storytelling, therapy, counselling, life coaching and self-development.
Vlad Ovalle: Besides been a great book store +,their service is super, couldn’t find Pop it fidget anywhere but found it here and cheaper that We thought, thanks a bunch...
Erin W: What a gem of a bookstore, with books for mental health, special needs, anxiety and much more. I am so grateful to have found this amazing store and am happy to be able to support a local business They also have other great resources such as posters, card sets, sensory regulation tools/toys and many other treasures to be found.Prices are good and the staff is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I happened across the store's website while looking for a particular resource and placed an online order for pickup. I was promptly called that day to inform me that one item needed to be ordered but I could pickup the rest of my order at any time. This will now be my go to place to find the resources I need to work with my clients with autism..
Camtono: Nice place
Sergio POCTOB: Thank you for supporting people with disabilities and Autism. Life is too short to be small-minded. Couldn't agree more❤
Tempo S: What a wonderful store. I’m so happy to now know this place exists and that I can find such fantastic kids’ books here (among other things!)
Asli Kucukbumin: A wonderful bookstore and my go to place to purchase sensory tools and educational toys for the children in my life. I hope that during the pandemic and always, local bookstores such as Odin Books receive much support from the community and stay with us for generations to come.
Katie Yk: I walked by this bookstore today and decided to check out their selection. I work as an SLP with a wide population and was VERY impressed with their selection, which included books for kids and adults about anxiety, autism, social skills, and a range of mental health topics, etc. Owner was very friendly. Overall a great little store!
Natasha Fairweather: Amazing resources and fun stuff for adults and kids of all kinds.
April Tao: Lovely selection and staff. We need resources like this in a city like Vancouver.
t thom: Just very good all around
Cindi Jones: We had looked for a specific book on autism and were unable to find it. Odin not only ordered it for me, they shipped it to my daughter in Alberta! They even included a note with a smiley face 😀. Great, friendly, efficient service. Thank You.
Bee Higgins: A really great little book store for those who struggle with mental health ailments. An amazing selection of books for all ages combined with a stim-toy section really makes this a one-stop shop for those seeking some guidance on their journey with their mental health.I was delighted to see some stim toys I have struggled to find and picked up some of my favourite mighty putty mini’s!Staff was ready and willing to help, and the environment was calm and welcoming, making it perfect for those with autism to get what they need without having to deal with social pressures and high noise levels.
Alvin Wong: Very helpful and knowledgeable staff which knows and emphasizes with their products. Wide range of specific topical products focusing around mental wellness and child development.
Gina: Very caring and knowledgeable employees for special needs items. They back the product they sell.
Heather Dale: Awesome resource for special educators assisting learning different students !

Kaboodles Toy Store: what do users think?
Aoife Dowling: Great selection of games, toys, lego, crafts, all squeezed into a fairly small space.
Ellen Wong: They have one of the best selections of stuffed animals around...although the prices for these are generally higher than what you'd pay at some other stores (like Miniso 😅), they probably have a larger selection of the more traditional, soft, and slumpy teddies and bunnies, and a selection of fruit and veg stuffies that's harder to find elsewhere. Store staff were nice. The store was kept well-organized. The only thing missing: On the day I went, I didn't see any hand sanitizer at the entrance, which I would've appreciated, seeing how everything inside the store is tempting to touch and check out.
Mandy Ellis: Great toy store and the staff are very helpful.
Macaw: Very kind staff and unique toys that bigger companies like ToysRus don't have. Highly recommend checking this place out
Kareyna M: Fantastic toy store for all ages!
Quinn Middleton: Ordered a hard to find Lego set online... The shipping was cheap and it was delivered way faster than I was expecting! Great customer service I've the phone to boot!
James Yang: Very friendly staff. Got some cool nostalgic toys for kids from the 80s and 90s.
Jacky Chin: Quaint little place with lots of selection. Shouldn't go in with my kids, they go wild!
Katharine Ng: Great local toy shop! I also appreciated that they had easy curbside pickup options, very flexible and friendly service.
nada Purlo: Great collection of jigsaw puzzles and Lego. Along with other toys. It is a great place with great staff.
