Cabin Lake: what do users think?
Salar Sedigh: Jan 22, 2023. Hard hike without any lookout, a kind of boring loop for me
Talid Jalbout: Pretty steady hike up, but not too long. Lake can be swimmed. It's cold. Dog friendly
Shahid ullah Khan: Gorgeous
j c: The hike was pretty easy and not too hard! Once we got up, the view was so nice and spectacular! I would definitely come here again!
Sukhman Sidhu: Worth going, easy trailerSuper easy on way back
Kulpreet Singh: Beautiful hike with beautiful along the way
ื—ื’ื™ ื”ืจืืœ: ืžืงื•ื ืžื“ื”ื™ื ืžืชืื™ื ืœื“ื™ื™ื˜ื™ื
Robert Dean: Short scrambly hike to a majestic lake. Great for dogs too
Melody Law: It's worth the hike! Kind of. Walking up is very steep and takes around 45 mins to an hour. The lake is beautiful and secluded. Kids went swimming and the water was cool and refreshing. We went on a really hot day so the walk back down was very dry and slippery. Overall fun experience!
swerk26: Excellent hike in all seasons. Ample opportunity to extend your adventure to Black Mountain and Eagle Bluffs. Awesome spot to snowshoe/ microspikes.
Gayatri Jena: A must stop point if you are hiking. Best view after a long 3.5km hike from creek lodge. You will get your reward of the hike.
K Kennedy: Easy access hike or snowshoe from the Cypress ski area, or a longer hike from the Baden-Powell trailhead in Horseshoe Bay. The lake is frozen & snow covered in winter, but frequent mild temperatures & rain make lake travel dangerous. Stay on the perimeter of lakes, carry the ten essentials, & avoid using North Shore Rescue as a remedy for poor trip planning & preparation. Record call volumes are being received due to simple issues like improper lighting, footwear, & clothing. Be prepared.
Mikasi Shawn Joseph: Nice visit
LL: Very rewarding short hike, pack your bathing suit and have fun.
Monalisa Paul: The view is spectacular, however the lake was a disappointment because someone left their cooler with food on top and let it rot, creating enormous flies that bit me and a persistent rotting smell. The hike is difficult and the lake is such a reward but lets not litter or leave garbage behind, if you could drag a cooler up you should take it with you so others can enjoy a beautiful lake at the end of the hike.
Meaghan Rentmeester: An amazing lake to visit for a swim on a summer Vancouver day!
Laris Grikis: Great hike up Black Mountain through the Cypress BAC (Backcountry Access Corridor). Pick up your backcountry pass to explore Black Mountain, Yew Lake, Bowen Lookout and beyond. Black Mountain is a well marked 7k loop up around and back down.
Natalie J: Spectacular location!
Jegook Lee: Very easy to reach there
AC CC: Good hike for kids
Barb Agostini: Cabin Lake is such a pretty spot on the Eagle Bluff hike. I highly recommend taking the path to it after / on your way back from the lookout. Beautiful water and surroundings with lots of little spots around it that you can sit and have space. The lake water is pretty cold (though welcome on a hot day). Note that it is very deep and not for non swimmers.

Ecoops 123: One of the best places to stay in Vancouver, if not the world. You go there and think wow.... look out from the balcony, and are just blown away by the views. I went there around one and a half years ago, but itโ€™s not until you leave and your back home, you realise how much of a life you just left there. Still to this day, everyday I think of Vancouver, and not only that, that house, and what could become of it, one things for sure, I will see it again.... (From the U.K.) Also (Edited) this has made me decide my life. Become a pilot for a Canadian airline and live in North East Vancouver, maybe even one day, probably not but maybe that house. It is inspiring from the moment you wake up, to the moment you go to sleep, and as I said, it's only until you go back, do you realise what's happened. If you remember me you may remember Pina liking me a lot. Not sure if that happened to many others, but no remember in the tour books it said not to go near her. (Lies). I think she liked me so much she brought me a mouce๐Ÿ˜€ seriously! I hope all goes well for the rest of your time, it was lovely, I remember when we arrived, Paul was there cleaning and gave a a really warm welcome, not telling my life story but for some one who's visited here, it's something your missing out on. Still thought of it today, waking up early and walking down to have some Canadian waffles then sit by the urm... beach? Coastline? River? It's just the balcony in the smoky sunrise on the first day that got me. Even created an Instagram account based on Vancouver which I'm slowly giving up after over double the followers I have now๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Teja S: Views are amazing here they give you nice memories and photos. Must visit place around Vancouver
Wendy Mclean: Beautiful scenery especially sunrise and sunset.
Klynt Martin: Clean, quite, amazing atmosphere for kids. Exceptional beach combing.
Tasha & Jay Gilbert: Excellent spot to stop when the tide is out to walk around the sand. Lots of parking and picnic areas.
F C: Small living room - lots of sleep space.
Ryan Sittrop: So this weekend I found myself staying at these quaint cabins in Porteau Cove, which are typically booked year around. With both cabins side by side (sharing a court yard)it was perfect for two families of four to spend some time together. With great hiking areas and lots of local attractions (shout out to the Britannia mining museum) its a great escape from the city with a minimal drive. So why only 4 stars.... the cabins are small, stuffy and awkward to live in but so long as you out and about for most of the time it's not to big of a deal. I also found the website very limited in information like you should know in advance that the bathroom has only a small shower stall. (See picture). In closing i would recommend these cabins during warmer weather and be sure to ask all your questions up front. Keep in mind for the price you pay to rent the cabin (minimum 2 nights stay) there is a really nice resort near by offering similar rates but it's definitely not ocean front.
Tasha S: Some communication hiccups: If you have NOT heard from Sea to Sky within 14 days definitely email them, we had not either and I contacted them, some sort of glitch perhaps as they said it showed as sent, but wasn't anywhere in my email/spam folders. It stipulates the NEW contract with COVID - bring your own bedding, different check in/out times, protocols. Super important as you have to be prepared to bring things. Also, different check in/check out times. The cabins themselves are great. They're super small, and I can't imagine more than 2 adults staying in them even though they sleep more, but perfectly cozy for 2. While the DVD selection was small, there is WIFI if you bring something to hook up to the small TV if you need movies. We actually enjoyed watching what was there, kind of a fun adventure. The kitchen supplies are very basic - definitely bring your own coffee making vessel, there wasn't one provided (luckily, we did!) The staff are super nice and helpful if you have an issue. The check in/out times are a bit of a hassle right now (5pm check in, 10am check out), and considering you are expected to leave it tidy, there are no beds for them to make (bring your own bedding/pillows/towels, dish towels!) and they cart off all the kitchen stuff in totes to be sanitized, it seemed a bit silly, but I suppose they have their reasons. The train did come by but if it came by in the middle of the night, we slept right through it, no train horn. So, that's good.I really, really appreciated that they decked them out for the holidays. That was a really nice touch.Overall, it's a really nice place. Very basic, but beautiful location and nice little cabins. Perfect if you just want to relax and go for short walks and more or less hunker down. Bring any special things beyond the basics you may want for cooking, and things like tea towels/paper towels, etc. Only TP was provided.
Sijia Wang: This is our second trip to Porteau Cove Cabin. Last time was uneventful and the location was generally beautiful so we booked again. When we booked we signed rental contract which stipulated that bedding, linens, towel, TV would be included. They unilaterally took away everything. No pillows, no sheets, no towels, and no TV. And they unilaterally changed our checkin-checkout time without any notice. They claim they emailed us but when asked could not provide any evidence of doing so.This is a breach of contract pure and simple. When we contacted them to address this deficiency they stalled and waited till after our scheduled departure time to even respond. Then they claimed that "we stayed" therefore were not entitled to a refund.Had to contact VISA for a dispute to get money back. Ridiculous. The location is amazing though. Minus the train noise at night but you need to expect this. Also expect critters in your room. Twice now there has been a rodent in our cabin. I want to say squirrel instead of mice but honestly, we are not sure. All we found were food with teeth marks in them.I have no complaints of Porteau Cove as a park location. It is beautiful day and night but the operators of the cabins leave a lot to be desired. Will not book here again.
C S: Critical:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueWorst experience. They changed our reservation 14 days prior to our visit giving us no option to cancel. Cabin was tiny, uncomfortable and missing a tv. Worst was we had mice in our cabin. Do not stay here. If you have any complaints you will be ignored.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 โ€ฆMore

Lazy Bowen Hideaway + Lazy B Waterfront Suite sleeps 2 - 8 guests: what do users think?
Holly Edwards: We loved our stay in the upstairs 2 bedroom cabin! Kitchen was very well stocked with ingredients and kitchenware/dishes. Very thoughtful layout and extremely comfortable/nicely updated. Jan is also a great communicator. She sent lots of helpful information. We also loved walking down the path and exploring the beach at low tide. Only thing that must be considered is the access road (which Jan gives great communication about beforehand). We have a 4WD super cab truck which was a bit too long for the road but we managed. A smaller 4WD would have been ideal. Mostly it was extremely difficult to turn the truck around at the parking spot because of its length. We hope to be back again. Beautiful place to get away.
Niki Cuthbert: We love this house. It was the perfect place for our family. The beach is so perfect. Waking up to the views and waves is exactly what we needed. Jan is a fabulous host and we can't wait to book again. Thank you!
Munro Stuff: There are some great things about this place: awesome covered and uncovered deck spaces, fantastic views, proximity to water and to Snug Cove, nice green/blue dรฉcor, well-proportioned shower with pebble floor, propane BBQ. But the road to get down is very narrow, steep, and slippery โ€“ lots and lots and lots of cautions from the owner about needing a 4x4 which is true, but it had better be a small one and youโ€™d better be okay with steep blind curves. Our stay felt transactional โ€“ tons of information thrown at us both in advance and posted all over the place, and nothing warm or welcoming like a note or treats. The kitchen is fully equipped, but thereโ€™s actually far too much stuff so itโ€™s hard to get things out of cupboards or find things โ€“ not ideal for renters. The bed is built on several platforms so the head clearance is tight โ€“ just over 5 feet on one of the sides โ€“ with sharp things (tacks?) sticking through the carpet near the bed. We were given lots of out of date information (barbeque, dvd, links) which was frustrating. Youโ€™ll hear every step taken by the upstairs rental suite residents. And they need to do more maintenance, like scrub the mold from the shower, sand the very rough outdoor chair arms, touch up paint, and deep clean. Awesome setting, room for improvement.
Maria Matthews: Amazing views!! Great get away...so serene!!
Christina Yorke: From the moment we walked in the door we were in awe. The cottage is beautiful, the furnishings and attention to detail in the decoration was amazing. The kitchen was the most well stocked kitchen I'd ever had when staying in a rental property. Such beautiful views and tranquil setting, it was perfect. I have already booked 2 more stays there, can't wait to go back.
trinalynnvenier Venier: The view!Perfect autumn getaway to recharge the soul.
Ellen Hsu: Our family of 4 took our boat stayed for 4 nights at the Bowen Is Hideaway the first week of Sept. The accommodations were good, the view was spectacular, and the house was well appointed. The hospitality from both Jan, our host and the neighbouring community of the cove was questionable and unwelcoming respectively. When we arrived, without knowing, we tied our boat onto a buoy in the cove. When Jan asked us to removed our boat off of the buoy, we did so immediately and anchored using our boat's anchor. However a neighbour mistakenly concluded that our boat was now on his buoy and informed Jan, who lives out of the country. She clearly relied on the inaccurate information given to her by the neighbours, and proceeded to text and email us a total of 9 times that night accusing us of being on a buoy, and insisting that we moor our boat at the marina in Snug Cove, a directive that she was in no position of giving. The lack of hospitality didn't stop there. Members of the cove community made odd innuendos and questions to our children when they were on the swimming dock expressing the general sentiment of "what are you doing in my space?" As paying tenants, we had every right of using the community swimming dock.We do want to say that one neighbour was friendly in helping us resolve our boat's outboard problem. He was the exception.
Ismalia De Sousa: My partner and I stayed for a couple of days. Great place, tidy and with amazing views. Good for relaxation. We did our food shopping in the mainland which was perfect. We didn't travel by car or brought our bicycles which wasn't a problem. The community bus worked just fine to travel between the Lazy B and town. Good places to eat out: the Snug cafe and the Tuscani restaurant. I also recommend the vegan ice cream near the Bowen Island Pier. For activities, check out the artisan and bowen bay areas, rent out some kayaks or do a tour in the Bowen Island Kayaking and, of course, hike :)
Emma Nelson: This property has everything you need to relax! Great views, large deck, lovely lounge areas, and a great kitchen for cooking. It has a cozy cabin in the woods feel as it is tucked nicely into the surrounding trees, but you also get the amazing ocean view and sound of waves. Great communication from the host Jan as well. We are already planning a trip back!
Morgan Landon: My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. The condo and view are so incredible, we would love to come back again. It is quiet and secluded, exactly what we were hoping. With the little restaurants and many hiking trails, Bowen Island is a gorgeous vacation spot. What is not included on the amenities list is the TREASURE TROVE of VHS tapes found in the armoire of the sea side bedroom. The collection features such iconic films as The Mask of Zorro, Sister Act, and the complete BBCโ€™s Pride & Prejudice tv series starring Colin Firth. I was devastated to have to leave before watching them all and urgently suggest you factor in adequate time to watch at least three movies into your vacation plans. The requirement of a 4 wheel drive vehicle to drive on the access road to the condo is not a joke or exaggeration. Be prepared -the neighbors along the road do not always fully pull their vehicles into their driveways, making it impossible to โ€œtake the turns wideโ€, as is suggested on the tutorial on how to best navigate the road.In conclusion, our stay here was one of the top highlights of our honeymoon and Iโ€™m really glad we came. There are many opportunities for hiking, kayaking, driving around the island to explore the interior, and cozying up in the condo watching VHS tapes while drinking champagne with breakfast.
Lauren Fielden: Our family of 7 rented both the Hideaway and the Suite. Despite living in Vancouver for 13 years we had never been to Bowen. That will change after last weekend's experience. Jan and her son Akira really do have a very special home. The setting is just perfect. Only a stones throw to the pebble beach. We brought our paddle board with us and it got plenty of use. We also went on a few short hikes. The place itself was super clean, very well equipped and very comfortable. We will be back!
Danielle Palmer: Stunning. Beautiful place to stay - the view is incredible.
Krissy G: It's heaven
Marnie Ellis: The suite was clean, nicely updated, had everything we needed and the deck and views were amazing!!Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 โ€ฆMore
Ron Botkin: It's our third time to stay and we loved it. It's always a special treat and spectacular view.Rooms: 5/5|Location: 5/5 โ€ฆMore
Farah Collier: When I walked in, I actually gasped....it was stunning. The view took my breath away, and I quickly opened up the doors, so I could hear the roar of the ocean. The reading nook became my little piece of paradise! The home was spotless, warm, and inviting. There was every gadget you could think of in the kitchen, and so much counter space! I had the most restful sleep, and woke up feeling fabulous! I cannot wait to come back, and bring the rest of my family, and friends. The only challenging piece was the trek up the road to get to my car. I guess need to invest in a 4x4, or go to the gym more often!! Thank you Jan for a wonderful stay!!!
Lee Whitmore: You can't go wrong - amazing views, lovely property, great kitchen and grill, affordable, and we woke to seals each morning. The property manager is responsive, the suite is quite, clean and well-appointed. High recommend.
lynda sheppard: We had a wonderful time at Lazy Bowen Hideaway. It was everything we were looking for and more. The location was amazing with breathtaking views. We saw two bald eagles that had a nest in a nearby tree. The accommodation was beautiful and immaculately kept. We loved the decor and the โ€œfeelโ€ of the place. The house had everything we would need with a fully equipped kitchen. I wouldnโ€™t have changed one thing. We will definitely be back.
Lisa Mulschlegel: We had an absolutely fabulous time in your place and it was just spectacular. Everything was so well organized and the instruction cards on various items were very helpful. The view was simply stunning and we really enjoyed being able to sit out on the deck and have our coffee while we watched the weather and the ferries etc.It was so peaceful and relaxing at your place that we never wanted to leave. The beds were comfortable and the place feels very cozy and welcoming.I think you have one of the best places on the island and certainly one of the best views.
Donna C. Martinez: Spectacular views, super amenities and a great host!
