Amherst Funeral and Cremation Services: what do users think?
Peter J: Amherst staff were efficient, and understanding. Really appreciated the home visit afterwards.
Lisa Reino: Very kind and professional. Extremely helpful with respect to filling out paperwork and explaining options to choose from.
Bryan Potter: Amherst Funeral was recommended to me by a close friend and I am sooo very happy that I followed through and had them take care of my needs for my family member. They were very Professional, & caring and Jessica was so very Helpful and showed genuine Empathy for my loss and I would recommend them to anyone needing their services and hope my Executor uses them for when my needs when my time comes. Sincerely, Bryan Potter.
kim gerelus: Jessica the representative was so compassionate so kind and accommodating the funeral home treated me and my Family with respect and my Mom was looked after from the start I would tell all what a great Funeral Home Sincerely Kim Gerelus
Trina Killam: I gave them 1 stars for the decent service at first..Then they were THE WORST. staff named Jessica said they don't do services there. I found out they do. My brother was listed as my father on the condolences sheet. When my brothers ashes were picked up there was someone in lobby waiting for appt. while they were all eating on 5th floor. I complained and never heard back. They are cheap, but it shows in the quality.
Reiko Coldwell: The staff was condescending, disorganized, patronizing, and demeaning. Nothing we asked of them, could be completed. They did NOTHING to make the loss of our loved one a smooth transition. They ignored emails, and lied and said all their calls had been answered. Honesly, most childish group of people to deal with, ever. Shared screen grabs of facebook messages, and had little to no care that a loved one just had passed.I ABSOLUTELY love their response, and how they've helped to exactly show how ridiculous and childish they have been to deal with. You should try your hand at writing fiction, you absolutely have a knack for it.Don't use this company. They aren't about professionalism, compassion and caring.
Hannah Dunbar: I would give no star if I could. When grieving a lost one and trying to sort out family matters I expect to be welcomed. The way that Christian handled my family matters was incentive and completely unprofessional. I would not recommend their services.
Paul Donovan: I just need to say one thing to be very clear. The couple that are posting very negative reviews here are either from the competition or from people that dialled the wrong number or from people that have some kind of unrealistic expectations because of their grief. Let’s get something else very clear. These people helped our family. BIG time. Some years ago when I knew my Mother was not well and because I would be away for some time, I decided to make arrangements with Amherst to do what we wanted for her (in case she passed while I was away) before we left so my siblings would not be left in a lurch. It did happen, mom did pass while we were away and my siblings were with her at the end when she went to heaven and then the people at Amherst came to the fore and were great. They were HUGE stress relievers for my siblings and us. Thank you so much for doing what you do.This is a little bit emotionally draining so another time I will like to share with you my most recent experience with Amherst. Which was again more than five stars.Sorry for the grammar .
Fran Miller: I am absolutely impressed with Amherst company and service from my first inquiry to the delivery of Mom’s ashes. Everything has been done exactly as they promised, on time, and so simple for us. A very professional service and a fraction of the cost of some other companies. Thank you!
Terrence G: Professional and Thorough. Can't beat the Value. No surprises.
Jasmine Beierle: The staff at Amherst were so compassionate and professional. They made the process very easy during this difficult time. I used them for cremation services for both my mother and father and would highly recommend them!
John A: Amherst provided value and delivered on everything they said they would deliver on as an organization. However, I would advise that if you choose to go with Amherst (and I wouldn't dissuade anyone from doing so), that you ensure you are very thorough and meticulous with your record-keeping, and ensure that the staff you are speaking with is concise. So much confusion (and maybe a little bit of money) could have been saved had I just held my representative more accountable.
Dco: It was a blessing to find Amherst. Their website shows different packages with itemized breakdown. No surprises and no hidden fees. Easy to upload the documents needed. Jessica was so helpful, patient and compassionate. She explained all the details and what to expect which was very much appreciated. Everything was handled smoothly and with care. Thank you Jess for all your help in this difficult time.
Leslie Todd: The Amherst community was very kind, patient and compassionate during one of the most difficult times. They arranged everything and I knew my loved one was in capable, sensitive hands.
Mark Mags: Quite literally the most unimaginably unprofessional funeral directors we've ever had the misfortune to require. The choice of language describing our loved ones journey was simply horrifying. If you desire dignity, respect, compassion and a professional service DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY! Totally shocked this standard of service can even be licensed to operate. A disgrace.
Vivian Gerber: Having the ability to make arrangements online was very convenient as my siblings and I are all in different cities. They were professional and made the process easy in a time of unexpected grief.
Betty Carter: I found my friend neighbor and companion passed away at home nobody gave me support but Amherst did they provided with me step by step everything I needed to do constantly stayed on the phone with me the staff was so caring and compassionate fast and professional their services was beyond amazing I would highly recommend Amherst funeral and cremation the staff have great etiquette the delivery of the ashes was beautiful and respectful I can't thank them enough they are the Elite is the only word I can express and affordable classy and just all around a really amazing experience I would highly recommend them. Kindest Regards Betty
Stanley Chow: Very nice people, helped us all through a tough process. My only complaint is that they can be hard to reach physically (may be due to COVID).
Risa Bassetto: Great service when you need it the most, the staff was very respectful and helpful. Highly recommend
Leslie Brown: If I could give ten stars I would. The staff were always very compassionate and helpful. For the very reasonable price of $845, my brother was cremated and personally delivered to me along with his death certificate, including 10 copies. The package that came also had a list of what needs to be done next. I am forever grateful!
Daniel Chong: Great package selection, professional service!

Angela Harris: The staff was so kind, supportive and compassionate. I had my both my mother and father services held at Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home. I plan to make my arrangements in the coming year for my funeral that will not be for a long time. Thank you
Esperance Mukeshimana: I walked in at their door step in the most vurnerable state after being treated like a garbage woman by another funeral home. Julienne and Polly from Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home treated us with kidness, respect and compassion, to the point I felt so connected with them and able to trust them with my son's body. These two women became a part of our son's journey on earth, I will forever be grateful for their service and praying God to expend their services beyond boarders. Thank you so much for understanding our pain and grief, giving in enough time in planing, giving us time to spend with baby boy before the burial . You are not in business , you are providing service. Thank you so much Julienne for letting me cry on your shoulders🙏
John Leung: We lost my father a few weeks ago and chose Mount Pleasant Funeral Home from previous experience of others using the facility. Johnny was so helpful and helped my family during this tough time. When losing someone suddenly, it's a blessing to know there are services that can help with everything to relieve the pressure and stress a family is already experiencing.I highly recommend Mount Pleasant. They took care of everything we needed and explained every detail and option for my family. We're grateful they also took care of the correspondence between the cemetery and made some arrangements for us to ease us doing it ourselves. All staff were very professional.
Sherry Kallergis: At a time of intense personal upheaval Gillian and Polly brought efficient calm to the funeral planning of a loved one. From start to finish they orchestrated every component within one meeting. We are forever grateful.
Julie Connolly: When someone passes it can be a difficult time and often requires special care and attention. Tony Hicks, Funeral Director at Dignity Memorial, went above and at every turn to attend to our family's needs. The venue was beautiful as well and had many excellent amenities such as a built in screen and projector, podium and microphone and even a working fireplace, which my mother also had so it was a lovely touch to be able to light it during her service. Thank you so much for everything Dignity Memorial and especially to you Tony Hicks. We are deeply grateful.
Sandy Chau
Parker Yuan: Service and Experience were all great. Was able to say farewell to my loved one, one last time. Thank you very much!
Jim Platis: Very caring company and Tony is one of the nicest and sincere people I have ever met.
Shana Bain: Losing a family member, particularly a mother, is a tremendous loss to any family. From the funeral director to the staff everyone made planning and carrying out my moms service gratefully simple. The facilities and hearse were very nice. One would hope they would not need to return to such a venue but it is inevitable so when the time comes we will only use Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home. Thank you.
David: Gillian Wong was very helpful and professional from the first day I contacted her and managed to get me in to meet with her to make funeral arrangements the same day my dad passed away as I lived in the suburbs and I was in Vancouver. Her assistant Sara was also very helpful with the online obituary, webinar information, funeral pamphlets and signing register. Very helpful from start to finish.
Ben&Jenny Lau: Johnny is a very care concern director. He seems understand our tough situation, and do many favor for us, like dropping off the Death Certificate to my home at night time. We really appreciate his service.
Mike Cheung: Very disappointed. I had called Mount Pleasant Funeral Home while my late grandmother was still in the hospital to gather information and figure out next steps regarding funeral arrangements. Mount Pleasant provided useful information and was very helpful.Once my grandmother passed, I called them back to do the necessary next steps. To my dismay, I had called 3 times, left 3 messages with the receptionist for a funeral director to call back, and no one called back.It was a stressful time, and our family felt that time was of the essence as we wanted to make all the necessary arrangements for my late grandmother sooner rather than later. I was very disappointed that the funeral home had not returned my call. I ended up going with another funeral home in Richmond, and they provided fantastic service.
Anastasia Balomenos: During this difficult time Tony and the team at mount pleasant took care over everything . Their assistance throughout was amazing and seamless.
Maria K: Such personalized service and we had access to the funeral director immediately. He was able to organize and prepare everything that we needed for a service the same day we spoke. This was a huge relief! Thank you so much for your support on a difficult day.

Vancouver Memorial Services and Crematorium: what do users think?
Sharon Marshall: There is nothing that prepares you for the knock on the door that tells you your brother is dead. I contacted Vince @ Vancouver Crematorium and all I could manage to say is my brother died in Nanaimo and I need to bring him home… I need to see him! I gave Vince the bare details the RCMP gave me and his response was “I’ll take care of this” and Vince did! He walked me through everything I needed to do, and took care of the things that needed to be done that I didn’t need to personally do. My brother was a painter & Vince created the canvas for my brother to be remembered…. I know he personally set up the chapel for the viewing - there were so many personal touches about memories I had shared ….. I don’t know how I would have gotten through the first days & weeks without Vince’s guiding hand and compassionate ear. There is no amount of money that could ever be paid to say thank-you Vince - you honoured my brother and I a, forever grateful
K T: After a number of years, we could not locate my father's cremation certificate. Vince, the Manager, was so helpful and kind in providing a new copy for us. He went above and beyond in my opinion! Excellent customer service and communication skills. Thank you, Vince!
Mark Liu: Reasonable Price and Friendly Staff
Oscar Cope: Great! they even take walk-ins.
S John Kim: Our funeral director made a point of understanding the family's needs and wishes. The team was incredibly respectful and dignified during the memorial service in guiding everyone. I would recommend them especially Merv our funeral director.
nelskie M: I get nothing but love and compassion💖Kaz and Vince and Staff are wonderful people 💖
Elizabeth MacKinnon: If you are looking for a simple cremation this place is outrageously priced. 450 dollars for a cardboard casket . Affordable cremation charges 35. I had already paid them almost twelve hundred for some services and they wanted to charge me 4,000 dollars altogether i switched to affordable cremation they were faster and more understanding
Alex Lobozar: In a very sad and stressful time, we found the services of Vancouver Memorial to be very helpful and supportive. Would highly recommend their services.
TripleA Florist: We called this funeral home to ask the service time for the funeral. The man who answered the phone is very rude. He said he couldn't tell us. We asked if the funeral is not held in their location. He just hang up the phone. It's weird. The sender who is in the USA ordered the flowers for the funeral for his friend. YOUR STAFF IS VERY RUDE. If the service is not hold in your location, you can just tell us. Why do you just hang up the phone????We have funeral orders everyday, which deliver to funeral home and churches. We have never ever had this kind of situation before. Your company should change other staffs to answer the phone. We could give you 0 star if we can
Kenny Keddy: Kaz was excellent in getting things done in a speedy fashion that was professional and calming. Allowed me to do what I needed to in the 10 days I had.
Vince Man: They handled my Mom's cremation and funeral arrangements with dignity, respect and class. Merv, the funeral director, was helpful and made sure all my concerns addressed. The "business" of death is a sobering experience but the staff at Vancouver Memorial Services and Crematorium were amazing.
Jackie Boston: Vancouver crematorium was recommended to me by a friend when my step father passed away in 2021. Cremation services were arranged by Vincent who was so kind and professional. When my mother died a few months later I didn’t hesitate to call Vincent again. It can be overwhelming when a loved one dies and the staff here were so good at providing clarity, compassion and caring.
Kourosh Edalati: Merv, Vince, Sandy and the entire team at Vancouver Memorial Services and Crematorium are class act! They went above and beyond to help us with the funeral services for my father. The were accommodating with their time and expertise all provided with compassion and empathy. I highly recommend them if you need professional, compassionate and expedited service for your love one.
lara varona: Vincent - I just wanted to say thank you again for everything you did for my family during the most difficult time. Your kindness and compassion were so appreciated. You are definitely in the right line of work - I can't think of anyone more suited to assist grieving families navigate the challenging and heartbreaking time after a loved one passes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart especially, for our heart to heart talks and for sharing your personal experience with me. I continue to feel comfort through the signs my Dad sends.
VCMoongem C: Vince and the team at the Vancouver Crematorium were terrific in handling the coordination and cremation of our sweet mother. They were patient, kind and caring. Very easy to deal with and responded to inquiries swiftly. We're grateful for their assistance.
Thomas Tsang: Great service and follow up from the funeral director Merv.
A. James: The staff made the entire process seamless and effortless which is exactly what one needs during a time of loss and unusual stress. Thank you!
Kim Richmond: I was very touched and comforted by the care and attention given to me by Vince at Vancouver Memorial Services. He walked me through some difficult steps when my son died, quelled my worries and talked of my passed family member with respect and care.
David Ward: Top notch experience from start to finish. Highly recommended.
Colin Edmundson: The lady who helped us with my dear friend's memorial was very friendly and compassionate. I was only an attendee, so I can't speak to financial dealings, but it went very smooth, and she was excellent. Her presence during such an unsettling time was very much appreciated
donna dashner: Just want to mention the excellent service we got from Kaz Montgomery.

Glenhaven Memorial Chapel: what do users think?
Joy Chou: I highly recommend Alex and his team. They were very professional and took great care of everything. Alex guided us from the beginning and made it easier for us during this difficult time. He went above and beyond for our special requests for my father's Buddhist memorial service. It was very much appreciated. The webcam was a plus. Our relatives could watch the service from the States, Taiwan and Japan also to save the video afterwards. All went smoothly thanks to Alex and his team.
Marilyn Chew: Told me there was no charge, for them retrieving my mother from hospice care. When I didn't use one of their companies, they held the body for a $400 payment.
Esperance Mukeshimana: Glenhaven Chapel and its Directors are the worse people I ever met in my life. I will never forget how I got treated by its people after the death of my son. especially Robert whatever his name is ... talking to me standing while I am sitting , leaving me in a room full empty caskets as grieving mother, secrets meetings behind the doors between directors while unattended.. to name few... worse people never to trust with the body of my loved one. Thanks to Mountain Pleasant View Universal Funeral Home for the compassion and professionalism, we got the most beautiful celebration of life there . I would never recommend hastings location Glenheaven Chapel.I will have to spend time in counseling room to get over them.
Brett: Bob and Dan were very kind and compassionate. Their genuineness was very much appreciated during our families difficult time. Thank you

I will continue to leave reviews so indigenous people know not to use your services..

angela di giacomo: my family and I were very impressed with the service and staff at Hamilton. they did not pressure us into anything that we did not request or require and was very accommodating in our needs especially since we had to change the date of the cremation due to weather(snow). I highly recommend them as they take very good care of your loved ones and to your family with grace and understanding.
KC O: We have nothing but kind words for the services provided by Hamilton Harron Funeral Home's entire team. They offer not just a "package" of services, rather, they are truly invested in accommodating the family's needs and personal requests. At first, we had no idea on what we had to, nor where we'd have to begin after the sudden passing of our mother. We are very grateful that they have walked us through the process without having to make us feel that we are dealing a "business transaction" on top of our grieving. They made sure that we didn't feel burdened by the preparations. To sum it up, they truly exceeded our expectations. Our family and friends were also very impressed with how they've professionally delivered their services. We definitely recommend Hamilton Harron Funeral Home. Thanks again for everything.

Osagie Oviawe: First and foremost, I want to specifically thank Gerry (Ms.G), for all the support helping to have a graceful memorial. Look, people this lady is perfect in love for you to get what you need. She was hands on throughout the entire process. She cares! She loves! If it was not from the sound of her voice from the beginning, knowing that she cares. I won’t not have Hamilton the home for father’s memorial. She and her team was that great. She is like family..!

McKenzie Funeral Services: what do users think?
Shima A: I’m sorry to whoever is reading this, because you are probably making one of the hardest decisions of your life about what type of burial and service you would like for your loved one. Nine months ago we had to do so, for my father, who was battling pancreatic cancer and succumb to this monstrous disease. My family and I had been through anticipatory grief for 11 months prior to his death. So when the time came, my mother was faced with having to choose a funeral home to complete services upon my dad’s death. We had called several funeral homes, in North Vancouver, and the lower mainland, and we were flabbergasted at how unprofessional and rude and inconsiderate. Some of these funeral homes were. That is until we called Mckenzie funeral homes. They were by far the most professional, compassionate, and well-rounded people we spoke to. Finally on June 28, 2022 when my dad passed, my mother had to make the difficult call to the funeral home at roughly 3 am or so, I can’t remember it’s all a blur. That is when Mark Mckenzie came to the North Shore hospice, and met with us! I cannot put into words how compassionate and understanding he was. He felt like a member of the family, not a random strangers that was there to haul my dad away. We are Middle Eastern, so we are very loud and expressive, and not once. Did he make a face or act a certain way to make us feel uncomfortable. And he respected and waited and allowed us to give him permission before he proceeded with his job. I remember I was so distraught I said, please don’t cover his head. I don’t think he’s dead, in my manic episode. And he was completely fine with that and he said whatever makes you happy or comfortable we will do that. During a time of shock and grief, there’s very little that one can remember, but even on the date of the funeral service, Mark was absolutely incredible. He directed the entire service so beautifully, my dad arrived in a beautiful hurst, and as a beautiful, finishing touch, he recited a lovely poem which brought tears to everyone’s eyes.I hope you read this Mark. Your heartfelt guidance and sincere expressions of sympathy to each of us is genuinely appreciated. The extra measures of assistance you and your staff provided for us all is prized and will not be soon forgotten. I am amazed at your patience with us as we stumbled along, seemingly in a fog, at times. You valued our grief and, without judgement, allowed us to express it in our own ways and on our own schedule. I am forever grateful. Thank you for giving us that pocket of peace, during one of the most tumultuous times of our life. You were truly born for this role. I wish you every success!
Dave Crone: All of the McKenzie family members combine to make an emotional time much easier. Their kindness, caring and compassion was truly appreciated by our family. They took all the stress out of our lives. Their attention to all the details was amazing. They were always happy to accommodate any last minute changes graciously. Are family thanks the Mckenzie family for all their help.
Darcie Conrad: I wanted to take the time to thank Mark McKenzie and the entire McKenzie family for emulating compassion and human kindness while helping and guiding me this last week with my brothers passing. It was a whirlwind to say the least and your family made me feel cared for, listened to, and like I was as important as one of your own family members. That in turn made me feel so comforted knowing my brother would be in the care of your family for his final arrangements without questioning for one second how he would be treated right up to the time of his cremation. Thank you again for doing what you do. You are all nothing short of amazing!
HL Lau: From my mother:Dear Mark,My family and I wish to express our gratitude on the efficient way you and your family provided in the funeral arrangements for my husband, Laurence.Your professionalism and down to earth approach made a difficult time easier to bear. I was impressed by how you went out of your way to help navigate through the preparations to make sure things went smoothly and I felt a lot of care and sincerity. We are glad we chose you and I have no hesitation in recommending your services.Kind regards,Han, Lee, Lisa & Keen
Lisa Foucu: Excellent service and support from my 1st interaction. Mark has been great, very professional, and gave a lot of great suggestions to make the service beautiful and memorable. Thank you Mark!
Jennifer Abbott: I only have lovely things to say about Mark McKenzie and the McKenzie family. My grandmother passed away in 2016, and the McKenzie's assisted me with all the fine details. Recently my mother passed away unexpectantly. The morning she died, I left the hospital in a daze with all my mothers' possessions. The social workers gave me a bunch of paperwork on what I needed to do next. I called Mark, and I can't stress how he made things so easy for me. He gave me options and choices based on her particular situation, and it was all effortless. Whether expected or not, it can be an emotional time when someone passes away, so having a funeral home that makes things as simple as possible is so appreciated. A simplified process demonstrates the years of experience this family has. Also, they are kind. I felt it every time that I spoke to Mark. He had compassion and empathy, and I thought that he genuinely cared. I highly recommend the McKenzie family as the funeral home to assist you during your most challenging time.
matt dorlings: It was an excellent experience dealing with Mark and his family who own and operate McKenzie Funeral Services. They were very kind and professional at all times from the inception of our family gathering to the completion of the event. It was a first class experience and made everyone feel at home.I highly recommend McKenzie Funeral to everyone. An exceptional personable service from a family that has being family owned and operated for over 75 years in BC.
Kelly Fox: Responsive and sympathetic, McKenzie Funeral Services made a difficult time easier to bear. The community roots of the family business made them easy to relate to. Emails were answered promptly, in one case, within an hour on a Sunday. Special requests pertaining to the complimentary online posting of photos and information pertaining to my father were cheerfully accommodated. I recommend this business.
Geoff Graham: We recently used Mckenzie Funeral Services. They came highly recommended by a close freind.Losing a loved one is a difficult process emmotionally and logistically.Mark and Gord handled everything for us, no pressure just presented options to find what worked best to celebrate the life of our loved one (Dad)They even set up our graveside service in the midst of monsoon like conditions. We couldn't have made a better call.
fred shadian: Considering all the stress and decsions a family has to go through when a loved one pass on. McKenzie Funeral Service were extremely helpful in every step of the planning.Very caring Family and Staff.Thank You.
Helen Hall: Wonderful company. Very caring and non pressure. Mark and George were delightful all the way through. They have all the answers that you need and give you all the time you need at this difficult time. Also, they do not try and sway you in any direction or any pressure to spend more money. Very professional and most of all caring and just plain nice people.
Joanne Evans: McKenzie Funeral Services handled the arrangements for our mother, Joanne Evans. Mark and the rest of the team provided our family with gentle guidance and support; they were professional, efficient, and compassionate, throughout the entire process. Their fees are reasonable, and significantly less than other funeral homes we investigated in the area. We would highly recommend McKenzie Funeral Services to anyone in need - their service was top notch, end to end.
Wanda Pickell: Jim and I are so grateful to Mark McKenzie and all of the staff at McKenzie Funeral Services. In the early summer of 2020, Mark helped us set up any necessary pre-arrangements for that unpredictable, but sad and inevitable loss of a loved one needing more and more care. More than that, he was able to suggest funeral options in the horrible scenario that we may not be able to be there in person due to COVID 19 restrictions.Thankfully, this did not occur and Jim's mom did not pass away until June of 2021 and we were able to be with her before that. However, when that time did come, McKenzie Funeral Services were ready to complete all the necessary details both efficiently and in a very personal and kind manner. More than this, they were able to provide a customized funeral service for an intimate family gathering via Zoom.Mark was so accommodating in getting all the necessary paperwork and essentials done and in helping us plan the service. This was no "cookie cutter" service; our choice for music, our pictures and order of presentation for a slide show, of tributes, and general set up were all incorporated. George gave a wonderful prayer and acknowledgement - we were so pleased. At the end, participants were able to chat between themselves. It was a true "celebration of life" and so important to all of the family. I would highly recommend Mark and his team to anyone needing these services. First rate!
Correne Carson: My family and I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mark and family for the compassionate service we received when my mother-in-law passed away. They were efficient, caring, respectful and unobtrusive in helping us move through the process. Mark came to our home and communicated efficiently through email when necessary. We are grateful for your professional and caring manner in guiding our family through a difficult time and will recommend you at every opportunity. Thank you.
Aisling O'Meara: McKenzie Funeral Services were wonderful arranging everything after my dear mother passed away. Mark and George were extremely professional, answered all our questions and organized everything for the funeral and interment services, including flowers and the choir. They were so helpful during a most difficult time, especially with the pandemic and restrictions. We highly recommend McKenzie Funeral Services. Thanks very much for your help. Much appreciated,Aisling O’Meara and family
Karen T: After finding out my father was terminal and being transferred to North Shore Hospice I called a few larger ,well advertised funeral providers that were not forthcoming on costs nor where my Dad would be taken after his death, I was relieved when my first call to McKenzie Funeral Services reached George the owner. He answered all of my questions straight up with compassion for our situation. I was comforted to know my dad would be taken to their home in Squamish. Yes they live upstairs from the facility ! My call was followed up with a personal email from George's son Mark with all the prices and the necessary paperwork needed to have everything in order. My father was part of the planning and commented how relieved he was that we were supported by the McKenzie Family. Dad even cracked a smile when I said his last road trip would be on the Sea to Sky Highway with the rest of us in convoy behind him. When my father passed away a few months later George was the one to answer my call and arrange for his son in law to pick Dad up from Hospice. We were allowed to be a part of this process including the trip with Dad to Squamish for our final goodbye. The MFS website page and all newspaper obituaries were handled for us with no surprises or tacky up-selling. I recommend them whole heartedly for your or a loved one's final stage of this life.KTAn update now 5 years later, the McKenzie family have helped several of my friends navigate their end of life arrangements for themselves and loved ones.
Gillian Boots: When our mum died, we decided that we did not want to repeat the less than positive experience we had earlier with the other WV funeral home, so engaged McKenzie Funeral Services to take care of the arrangements. This was a breath of fresh air with attentive, understanding competent people, generously available whenever we needed them. The McKenzies guided us through every necessary formality and ensured that the load was lifted from our family during a time when things were overwhelming. We are hugely grateful for their services. We cannot overstate how different this experience was from that of a few years earlier when our dad died. Thank you Mckenize, you deserve the accolades and I would highly recommend this service to anyone dealing with end of life arrangements.
Sahand M: Geoff assisted myself and my family at McKenzie Funeral home on a Wednesday, and after reviewing some details and general pricing we were told it is possible to hold the funeral ceremony on the coming Friday. The next day we visited again to finalize the paper work. Geoff and the team worked diligently to meet make it happen on the Friday. The ceremony was beautifully conducted with the utmost level of professionalism. I am forever grateful, considering it snowed the next day continuing for a week.
Pat Turgeon: It was a pleasure having Mark walk us through the process of dealing with our Mom’s passing. From the first meeting to the last detail they made it their mission to carry as much of the paperwork load as they could. I would definitely recommend them to anybody looking for funeral arrangement services. They provided the personal touch that shows in a family run business.
Marc Baur: I can't thank McKenzie Funeral Services, and in particular, Mark McKenzie, enough. My mother died just before Christmas, which deeply affected our family. To add to the stress, my mother's rest home was experiencing a terrible outbreak of COVID 19 and the whole facility was in lock-down. I really didn't know what to do. Thankfully, McKenzie stepped in and handled every conceivable detail. They were caring, professional, and very quick to respond. Without reservation, I would definitely recommend their service to anyone.
Reza Shahidi: Dear Mark and McKenzie Family, Thank you for your professionalism, sensitivity, reverence, and comforting care. From the very beginning you patiently explained and walked us through every step. You were sensitive to our condition and made sure we were comforted through the difficult days. Above all, you made the time to listen to our concerns and wishes, and that is the most important support anyone could give. We applaud you with absolute gratitude and heartfelt thanks for the dignity and respect you provided for our beloved father.

KORU Cremation | Burial | Ceremony: what do users think?
Amit T: Really appreciated the guidance, options, and flexibility during a very difficult time. A human approach to a process that can seem overwhelming. Would highly recommend
Nina Winham: My mother passed away unexpectedly while visiting Vancouver from Nova Scotia. She also had duel citizenship with the US. So the situation had a few complexities, including the grief of sudden loss, the need to transport ashes across the country, and the need to handle paperwork in two countries. Ngaio was so wonderful, warm, knowledgeable, supportive and easy to deal with; she made everything a little easier. In addition, the pricing seemed very fair, especially given the sensitivity and personal touch we received. I'm grateful for having found Koru at a time when life took an unexpected and challenging turn. I highly recommend Koru.
Jenn Strom: I had a very kind and human experience working with KORU in planning for the passing of our family member. I felt they were well informed about both conventional and alternative practices, and environmental impacts. They took time to explain things and give me information, and I never felt rushed. We were assisted in making a plan, but they also said they would be available to help at any point if the plan were to change at the last minute. I was very happy with KORU's services and grateful for their support during a difficult transition. I would recommend them for anyone, but especially those who are exploring how to facilitate a life-death transition in a thoughtful, different or more self-empowered way.
Francine Regan-Pollock: Ngaio has helped us on two difficult occasions. We found her to be very knowledgeable and respectful. She helped us through the process and ensured we didn't miss details we didn't know about.
Don Morris: Ngaio, and the services KORU provided, were exceptional!
Christine Pilkington: I'm writing a review of KORU from a different perspective. I work with KORU very closely as a business advisor. I can tell you that the women behind this business are honest, caring and thoughtful. They have innovative and forward-thinking ideas when it comes to deathcare. While I haven't specifically used their services, I would not hesitate to recommend them.
sara hakkak: Emily & Team were so understanding and helpful that I couldn’t have asked for a better team to help us going through this difficult process . They did take a lot off our shoulders , Emily made the trip to our place and sat with us …went through step by step process which meant a lot , she did help us making the right decision during every step! Emily went above and beyond during our Mom’s ceremony ! Thank you all , I’ll definitely recommend your team to my friends & family 🙏🏼
Angela Kenyon: Koru meant more to me and my family than their knowledge and efficiency. It was the feelings of connection and compassion from Ngaio and staff that made me feel comfortable with letting them handle the final part of my husband's journey. We'd nursed him at home, so it was particularly challenging to let go. The chance to spend a couple of hours with him in that peaceful room that Koru offered before he went to cremation, was a treasured time of stories and tears and laughter that we will always remember. I highly recommend Koru Cremation Services.
Mackenzie Henry: I feel as if I don't have the right words to express how grateful I am that we found KORU to assist in honouring my fiance and his life. From the moment we met Ngaio, I felt comfortable and at ease and just kept thinking: "wait, you mean we don't have to deal with the standard, stuffy, expensive, weirdly formal funeral home processes?! there is another way?!". Let me tell you: there is most certainly another way. KORU is one-of-a-kind in its approach to honouring death - their philosophy was more patient, intentional, ceremonial, and meaningful than I could have ever imagined. Ngaio walked us through every part of the process and gave us the option to be involved in as much or as little as we wanted (i.e. bathing him, dressing him, sitting with him, etc.), which empowered me to feel like we were intentionally honouring him every step of the way. My gratitude to Ngaio and the KORU team is truly hard to put into words. In the most horrific time of my life and our family's biggest time of need, KROU stepped in and brought us a peace and comfort that I will reflect on for many, many years to come. Thank you, thank you, thank you Koru!
E. Kage: Funerals are pricey but Koru provides some options and flexibility in services which helps to make it affordable
Chris Bywater: Ngaio and the Koru staff supported our family through our mother's funeral with a personal touch that you would only receive from a local independent funeral services company. I have recommended Koru to friends and family.
Lindsay Nagamatsu: I cannot recommend KORU highly enough. At a time of sadness, Emily from Koru made the entire process as stress-free and easy as possible, sending us any resources we asked for immediately, answering emails within minutes, and helping us coordinate every detail within the tight timeline we were working with. Emily showed compassion, professionalism, and expertise. She was so wonderful to work with, and I would choose Koru again without hesitation. Thank you Emily for everything.
Sandra Nomoto: People are shocked to hear I've already made my end of life plans as I'm not yet 40. From my experience of family members (some who have and have not made end of life plans), if you know (or have an idea of) what you want to happen when you die, it's best to plan and invest ahead of time. I'm so glad to have met and worked with Ngaio as she made the entire process so easy and smooth. This is one major hurdle my husband and I don't have to worry about as we age, and it's nice to know we can always make changes to our plans later as well.
Sonia Huda: Emily was organized, efficient, knowledgeable. We connected with around 20 funeral service and she was hands-down the best! We are so glad to have her help throughout the process. we highly recommend her! She offered the best service, venues and price.
Rainier de Chavonnes: When my mother passed away in May 2019, my wife and I began looking for a funeral home. With both of us having negative experiences with traditional funeral homes, we wanted a BC owned service who would be more positive than morose. A quick search led us to Koru and we couldn't have made a better selection. From the initial contact to the in-person meeting to post cremation, every person was genuine and really cared for us and our late mother's wishes. We would both highly recommend them to anyone!
Margaret Moore: Thank you for the compassionate care.
eliza wong: They did my dad's cremation and their services were good and inexpensive. Recently my mom passed away. We found out ValleyView charged for a concrete vault for 975 plus tax. Then we checked with Ngaio and she only charged $330 including tax for a plastic one. In 2015, Valleyview charged concrete vault around 450 but now it's 975 plus tax. I highly recommended to use Koru Cremation service. Ngaio is very reliable, sincere, well mannered person. 👍👍👍
sasha B: Locally owned and operated, this progressive funeral home provided my family with prompt, professional and compassionate care. 5 stars.
