Vancouver Art Gallery: what do users think?
Julie Erin: I was rather a little shocked by the entrance price. Typically, an adult pays over $30 to spend a day here. The first Friday of every month is free, but the line is ridiculously long (literally snakes around the entire block), so thought it would be better to pay the full price for one afternoon. The only redeeming qualities would be the building itself and the giftshop.First floor had an exhibit of Canadian artist, Boyle, which I personally find many of her pieces to be rather on the creepy side, yet to each their own. The adjacent rooms had more modern art (basically paintings of lines and blobs). Again, not my thing, yet I was hoping that there'd be some classic art on the other levels. The next level (the only one that was opened) had a lookout to observe some fashion design students assembling outfits while the showrooms featured the biography of an Indigenous woman, which contained mostly of children's drawings in crayon...and newspaper clippings along with letters of correspondence! How is that art?! That exhibit was rather interesting but belonged in a community centre to promote public awareness rather than an "art" gallery.I've also read a few of the other Google reviews, and it seems that most of the levels have been closed forever because of renovations. I find that to be rather bogus. While I strongly support temporary exhibitions since it's nice to shake things up, there should be some permanent ones as well. Since Vancouver seems to be a rather modern city, perhaps some avant-garde classic pieces: Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Kiss, Magritte, Picasso, The Scream, Van Gogh...Basically, it was such a disappointing experience. Was done within an hour, and that included a pee break along with checking out a few of the showrooms twice to see if anything had been missed.
Ricardo Augusto Moraes Ferreira: Visit on the first Friday of the month, and free admittance. Should get the tickets online to avoid linesVisited on Weekday Wait time Up to 10 min Reservation recommended Yes …More

Rosa Yuan: I too loved the exterior architecture but what's inside definitely isn't much new or exciting. Compared to other art museums (MoMA or SF MoMa, Chicago Art Institute). I hope they can introduce more art works, exhibitions and events.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes …More

Manisha S: The Vancouver art gallery was a very strange place with a lot of strange "art". The exhibits at the time were nothing exceptional... Some geometric art just made in large canvas, which any of can do. Then another strange and creepy exhibit including sculptures of a headless person... Nothing inspiring or thought provoking or beautiful.. felt like a waste of my time and money. The tour guide was good and informative.. but then again the topic was very boring.
Behdad Best: This is supposed to be the prime artistic center for Vacouver yet totally disappointing. I'd say just close it, always good not to do things rather than doing it this way.
luke morrison: It's not totally bogus man..... says ted
Shatakshi Saxena: Only floors 1 and 3 are open. They are currently doing some construction. Overall, it is an OK museum but not worth it. The entrance is overpriced at $30/adult, especially when part of the museum is closed due to construction.I enjoyed the indigenous representation on the third floor, but I think they could have better conveyed the information. For instance, they could have provided summaries at every decade. Instead, it felt like all the information was just jumbled. The "art" on the first floor was not worth paying for. A lot of the "art" was just basic lines. There were some paintings and sculptures that were cool!
sekureh: No idea why they're selling tickets, maybe for charity🙄Nothing worth seeing.
Cristiano Nogueira: CAD 29 per person for a 30 minute`s worth of art. the 1st floor had Shary Boyle, excellent stuff albeit just a dozen works, but the other 5 wings had nothing worth while: 2 were under setup for a future exhibit. 1 had very bad op-art (like the left-overs of another real art museum) and the 3rd floor had 2 wings on with newspaper cutouts and old-timey interviews with lord knows who. ticket staff wouldnt give a partial refund, claiming I should have known the 2nd floor would be closed. I was expecting a whole afternoon experience and was done after 40mins. 10mins were spent trying to find the exit on the 3rd floor! IMHO a just price for this very short experience should be no more than CAD 9.
Ben S: Smaller than most, but great exhibits and staff.
Emily Fa.: Lots of events
Jooey V: I have travelled lots of countries, and visited lots of galleries.Don’t know about other exhibitions, but the first free Friday was not bad.Not too difficult, and well managed among tons of people.

Monte Clark Gallery: what do users think?
Johnson Li: Monte has a fantastic gallery. He is great to talk to and the place is welcoming in general. Must visit.
Donika Bacoka: Cool, free gallery that is right next to pallet coffee shop and Urban Winery. They had work by some great Canadian artists and the staff were super friendly and personable, they showed us some pieces that had just been stretched and not yet on display. All in all a great Vancouver art gallery experience
Ihor Zeiger: Great gallery with good exhibition always.
Vee CR: One of my favourite galleries in the city. While it is small, it is always filled with interesting contemporary art and it's worth the visit.
Kirk Chantraine: Always well curated and pleasant space. They almost always have great photography on show. Highly recommended.
mark smith: One of the few private galleries who represent relevent vancouver artists
Russell Liu: Smaller than expected, but free entry & interesting collection.

Contemporary Art Gallery: what do users think?
Andrea Terron: Great instalation!!
jennifer chen: Great space. Love Christine’s work seen here. Glad to catch it. She does prints too, she’s worked with El Nopal Press in Los Angeles.
Letícia Cristina: muito pequena galeria
Ilya Waisman: Very small place with a couple of tiny exhibitions, not very exciting to me.
Thanchanok Tangpinyo: Everyone is welcome to see the exhibitions free of charge. The space is nice and well informed. When I was there I got to learned about how deaf people are living within our society. It was an interesting topic I never thought about. If you are interested in art, definitely check this place out. There is a public parking close by too.
Sean Lee: 空間不大,有些有趣的小型藝術展覽,大概15分鐘可以逛完
Jin Huang: If I can give a 0 star, I would. There are only two rooms open. One room with a single display of a mudded hay lion, the other room with a fridge that has 4 bushes of flowers (apparently) bought from a nearby flower shop. There were a few groups of visitors who came in and were quickly confused if they had come to the right place. Someone stood in front of the receptionist/cashier/concierge, deliberately facing her to try to get her attention. But she's comparably deliberate, intentionally fixated her eyes to the computer screen to avoid a question. The pictures here on Google Maps are not the reflection of this place anymore. Those I believe are before the pandemic. Now the business that gets to this situation might be directly damaged by the pandemic. Contemporary art is a hard and fluent business. I hope this business can get itself up from the damage soon to live up to the name again.
Jessica Z: Not much to see, take 5 minutes to complete.
Samoa Woolsy: Very small but cute (free admission?)
Prince Z’s Shorts: There was hardly any art and what was there looked extremely basic and had no depth. The “art” was scotch taped to the wall. Yes art is subjective but it should also at least be interesting.
Mark Emery: interesting art and really welcoming staff, who encouraged conversation and answered questions with enthusiasm.
Rukchanita Olivia Wajitdouol: Alway have attractive Art and interesting event
Tony McDougall: Awesome as always!
Shashrvacai Cai: Small considering it’s a contemporary art gallery.. but works since it is in the centre of the city.
Jihan Carrasquero Uzcategui: Small gallery, not many thinga to see. Interesting nevertheless.
F: I hope they could have a bigger space in the future, always a great spot to go when you want to see some art.
Gerald Joe: Interesting exhibits. Sponsors exhibits at other locations eg transit busses
Jamie Learning: This tiny art gallery offers cutting edge exhibitions that will make you think and get ya right in the feels.
Kuang-Jui Hsu: nice and free
Melike: Good spot for art work that doesn’t sacrifice meaning for the sake of creativity. Plus some lovely people who are willing to have a nice conversation.
Janice Chau: It was much smaller than I expected, but admission is free/by donation. I enjoyed going through the exhibits. It's a quick cultural stop among shopping/eats nearby on Granville - It would probably take 20 min to go through everything.

Sharmay H: Many high quality paintings and various fine artworks there and the staff are friendly.
Connor Bushnell: Such a lovely gallery in the Yaletown area, very friendly and welcoming!
MsVictoria009: Terrible service from the gallery owner who was judgmental from the moment I walked in.I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Joan Wood: Beautiful gallery!
DDK DDK: Stay Away from this Art Gallery! The owner is a scam artist and a complete bag!You can’t walk out of there without being harassed to give your information to her. Sometimes I would like to just browse art without feeling like I’m being chased to buy a broken down Hyundai Sonata from a used car dealership.
Calvin Ma: Love the art exhibition here
Caleb Steele-Lane: Warm and friendly gallery
Kyle Davis: Terrible service and art
Alex Nurzat: so so
Frédéric Letullier: Great artists and wonderful care and availability! Several coup-de-cœur!

Equinox Gallery: what do users think?
M: I love it! So cosy yet well curated
Roger Griffin: I enjoy visiting this gallery. I love Fred Herzog's work in particular, and I never get tired of seeing the ongoing exhibition. I think they also rotate a few of his pictures to provide a lot of diversity. I was able to browse the exhibits today when I went to the Equinox Gallery to pick up a few books. The locals there are incredibly friendly and grin broadly as they welcome you. Of course, the Equinox Gallery is a fantastic venue for showcasing regional artwork. I would strongly advise visiting.
Favian Yee: I love going to this gallery. I'm a particular fan of Fred Herzog's work and can never get enough of seeing the permanent exhibit. I believe they also rotate some of his images to offer a great variety. I came to pick up a few books from the Equinox Gallery today and was able to wander through the exhibits. The people there are so welcoming and greet you with a beautiful smile. And of course, the Equinox Gallery is such a great space to showcase local art. I would highly recommend stopping by.

Donald L: This gallery represents various talented artists. Their works are exhibited in a bright open space. I get inspired by the works of street photographers, Fred Herzog and Vivian Maier. Free parking available.
Matthew Isherwood: Small space, little curatorial context to the exhibits. Work was beautiful, though.
Melissa Bonner: Beautiful. Very interesting space. Paid parking available.
terri moore: Very nice pieces. Loved the vibe. Very quiet. Thanks.

Karen Cooper Gallery: what do users think?
Nishaan Jugram: Wow. Simply stunning works of art for the home. Her use of light, colours, composition and framing are fantastic. Some of the pieces actually look as though they are backlit. The curved glass framing is really unique and will certainly be the centrepiece of your home.Karen is very friendly and is willing to chat about her photos and photography in general. Please visit her studio in Granville Island in Vancouver.

Very happy with my purchases from her -both aluminum and canvas prints. She also provides all the hardware for hanging your pieces. Such a wonderful place to find a gift for your loved ones or for yourself! Highly recommend visiting her gallery in-person.

Hannah B.: Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended NoMore
Vanessa Watts: Really neat little gallery totally work it if you like art work!
Jillian Robertson: An excellent experience.I learned more about how skilled Bill Reid was and his influence on young Indigenous people.
Stephen Rees: Even though they say they are not quite finished setting up the exhibits there is a lot to see. This was our first visit but I have a feeling we may well return. Reid was an amazing talent. I was amazed by one of his earliest works: a miniature tea set made from a stick of chalk and nail varnish. When I go to stay with people in other places I buy a Bill Reid framed image as a hostess gift. I also have some at home now. I wish I had been given one of the $20 bills when they came out but I suspect they all went to collectors. There are also works by other FN artists and of course visiting exhibitions. When you are in Vancouver this has to be on your list of places to visit. The staff are charming.
Foxx Cant: One of my favorite galleries in Vancouver, there is always a thoughtful exhibit by contemporary Indigenous artists. Also boasts a fantastic gift shop and a drawing area for children in the upstairs alcove.
Alyssa Davis: Very emotional. Ladies were super nice. The gift shop carries beads which are hard to find. Not bad pricing on the jewelry. Rings are 200$+ beads are around 100. The finer stuff goes up higher tho.
Sunset City Mushrooms Ltd.: Super amazing art, was a trip for sure 😊
Dave K: I learned quite a bit and while seeing some interesting art pieces. I enjoyed learning about traditional art as well as seeing more contemporary pieces with traditional influence. Would highly recommend!
Bruce Murdoch: Very interesting and beautiful art.
Robert Oney: For the Bill Reid works, absolutely take the time to work through the smaller pieces that are on display - though all of his pieces are equally worth your time!
Mike Pitura: Great educational experience
Jane Harrison: Wonderful exhibition of Bill Reid's work alongside his peers and more contemporary Indigenous art. Thoroughly recommend checking it out.
Leandro Bezerra (Suspiro): The art gallery is very nice! You get to know Bill Reid various artworks and the fact that the museum is not too big, you have time in one visit to read and understand about historical facts and all the intricate details of every art and its contexts.Highly recommended!
Robin Todd: Interesting displays
Bia Sales: It was fantastic to learn more about the Haida people and take a look at the exquisite artworks by many different artists ❤️
Andreas Pilich: Wonderful gallery. Man was a genius in my opinion.Nice atmosphere. Small though.
Byron Pelly: Nice place to check out First Nations art. As a First Nations person I don’t feel uncomfortable or unwelcome coming here. It’s nice to know how a normal person is supposed to feel in this country.
Paul Sasges: Wonderful exhibit. Go enjoy 😉
Katy Bee: A powerful experience, and well worth the visit. There are free hours on some Fridays between 2-5pm! The gift shop is very much worth a look as they have many beautiful things made by local Indigenous artists.
Brianna McNall: Stopped by on a whim as we headed for the Vancouver Art Gallery and absolutely fell in love. This is an amazing space with a thoughtfully curated collection. Such a wonderful celebration of first peoples art and culture. Definitely worth a stop for art lovers and educators - the lovely folks at the gallery provide some great educational resources both in-person and online.
