Due to my body type and gender, I was very nervous about fitting in in a place like this, but Tantra has broken all of the negative stereotypes I could have expected. 3I would recommend Tantra to anyone!!

Ella Dubé: Did the Intro to Pole class.The receptionist was LOVELY and helped me feel very welcome and the instructor was SO KIND.The only issue was how cliquey this was for a beginning class. It was obvious that there were a lot of people who had done many classes before and were doing tricks and stuff.Good for them but it was hard to book into this class because it is always full. It just seems like it’s okay for big groups and non beginners to book the class.It also feels like you’re on the outside looking in. Did I expect myself to be able to hold myself up or do any of the moves properly? No not at all. But it was very discouraging having people who look like professionals in an intros class.
Cleo Halls: Tantra is my home away from home! No matter what is going on in my life, I always feel better after taking class. Good energy, gorgeous studio, awesome pole, acro and aerial classes. My body and mindset have transformed since I became a student-Tantra is my favourite place to take class!

I have found friends, a home, a family, etc. here & I also have experienced tremendous self growth in EVERY aspect of my being. I can climb a pole, I can show up for myself when mental illness is a challenge, I feel confident in my plus size body, and above all, i feel loved. So grateful for AVA 💚

elle bee: I love pole! The classes are fun, the teachers are knowledgeable and the energy is great. A dislike is that they overbook the classes which leaves a few people having to share a pole. Also, a huge dislike I have is that their class passes expire. They only give three months to use all your classes. I paid hundreds of dollars for class passes, then I had some personal things arise and I ended up losing 12 classes after only 3 months. Most places give you a lot longer than that. Not sure why they are so rigid with this policy as their classes are always packed and have a waiting list. Because of this I won’t be going back.

Nicolette Abbey: I appreciated the teaching style of some of the classes I attended, however I did not find the studio to be up to cleaning standards for what a studio should maintain , especially since a lot of training requires being on the ground.The lack of boundary of walls between the pole studio and the other dance room also made it not that pleasant as the sounds from both rooms tend to crash into one another which takes away from the experience of a pleasant ambience in training. Lastly, some of the classes were just too packed for comfort. So i basically ended up in a $241.50 a month contract but not using the services because of the above issues (it was a far distance for me to get to and so the above issues made it unpalatable.) My advice is to definitely try out the services to make sure it is a good fit before going full into a contract as maybe it will be the place for you since many are happy/satisfied at Ava Fitness, but this is my experience with it, and also remember to give 30 days notice to end your contract if you are in a contract that has ended (i know, right?!) because it will just keep charging you after the end of the contract which happened to me.
ichigoblisss: A really good pole school that offers lots of interesting courses. I'm really enjoying their lessons. I prefer this school over others that I tried because from my experience their instructors are really good at paying attention to the students

I take regular pole dancing classes and they have wonderful, highly experienced instructors at all levels who are so patient, understanding but who also really encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and excel in something you never thought was possible in the first place. This is a lovely studio with beautiful people, both instructors and students and it is definitely a weekly requirement for me. Highly recommended!

It's been over a year since I've started and I've gotten so much stronger than I ever thought possible thanks to the great instructors and variety of classes that help me learn and improve specific skills, like my handstands. Eva Wright (Schleich lover 300): I paid up front for a package of group classes as well as private classes (around $600) . I am unable to attend as I do not feel comfortable showing my private medical information with strangers . I am not welcome at this studio anymore for who knows how Long. I understand this establishment is ‘following orders’ however they refuse to give me my money back which isn’t right in this situation. Regardless of ones stance on the current passport situation it’s not right to take my money , refuse me business and not make an exception for a refund!!!BAD BUSINESS
Pearl Cao: I’ve been training with Ava for about 3 years now, and every class has been an energy booster, and always makes me feel stronger afterwards. The instructors are awesome, knowledgeable and super friendly, but also tough enough to push you just outside your comfort zone. The students have a good vibe too. There’s always laughs, and cheers for each other during the class, which I think, makes the workout feels less than a workout.If you’re new to pole dance, they offer some super cheap new member’s rates for the first 2 weeks. But also be prepared for the bruises haha!

They show that they care by paying close attention to what students do. They don’t leave you unattended even when the class is full. I believe Jessa is a real coach and motivator! I came to Ava Fitness with ZERO background in dancing and gymnastics. She definitely boosted my confidence!I had so much fun!

Everyone involved with the studio has worked incredibly hard to make flexible options for all the changing Covid restrictions, and has been very supportive of different people having different comfort levels in terms of returning to activity. The online class offerings that they have provided have been a wonderful support in a difficult time. This hasn't been easy for the fitness industry, so I truly appreciate the fact that Tantra has prioritized student safety and wellbeing, even when it means that it's tougher to operate. 3

My New Year’s resolutions this year was to lose some weight and find my power again, and the gym just wasn’t cutting it. I truly think Syd was sent to me just when I needed somebody the most! I would highly recommend her to anyone, the private classes really help you improve quickly and you’ll always leave in a better mood then you came. She is so accommodating, kind and very very patient hahaha! Not to mentions she keeps an incredibly clean and tidy studio that makes all of her students feel completely comfortable taking a class, despite all that is going on in the world currently. I’ve been going for around 2 months or so now, and I won’t be stopping any time soon.
Sheena Essuah: Three words. Un. Be. Lieveable. If you’re new to pole, or are wanting to try... Sydney is the most AMAZING instructor. Trust me, if you were not feeling yourself before, you WILL BE after just one class! I kid you not. I’ve been taking lessons from her for almost a month now, and it’s been amazing having her by my side and watching my progress! I’ve improved so much technically, because she is willing to break it down in a way that best speaks to you. She is the most supportive and encouraging teacher, because it reaaaaally can get tough sometimes. But I honestly feel like I am fulfilling my best potential every time I walk out of a class. 15/10 would recommend. Experienced or not, she is absolutely fanTASTIC!

Jessica Park: Taking pole dance lessons with Sydney is great! She's very encouraging and skilled instructor. She encourages you with the right attitude so that you also challenge yourself every lesson. Sydney also takes well care of you during her lessons so that you can consistently improve your skills and feel safe doing so. I highly recommend taking lessons with Sydney.
Rachel Cameron: Taking pole dance lessons for the first time has been such a fun experience and it's all because of Sydney. With her positive energy from the very second you meet her, she makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. With her constant encouraging atttude, you never feel judgment or negativity upon yourself. She really does make wonderful effort to get to know each individual and puts their safety as top priority. I will definitely continue to take lessons with her. :)
Katie Iliffe: Sydney is the most encouraging teacher I've ever encountered. She doesn't make you feel stupid if you can't do a move the first try, she takes note of each student individually and helps in the best way possible. Its also nice that safety is number one and she never makes you do anything you aren't comfortable with, but she'll push you in your comfort zone.

Charlotte Vis: I had the same experience as other people who reviewed here. I emailed Nestor multiple times and said I had a Groupon and no response. I called him he said he emailed (obviously didn't) and that he would email me back again, which he never did.My partner contacted him without saying Groupon and of course he got back within two days.This guy is a sleezebag, do yourself your a favour save the headache, and don't buy lessons from this guy he's a scammer.
Tatyana Hernandez: I had a very bad experience with Nestor from BC Dance. I bought 10 passes for my friend and I for Salsa classes and when I emailed him, he never responded.I then called him, and he was angry I bought the passes, and told me I have to wait spots to be available. AND said he was working and can NOT talk to me. So rude! Zero customer service.I have followed up 2 times by email with no response! Do not go to this place.
roya shurouni: The are stealing your money. I registered for bachata classes and paid 3 months ago , but they never offered me any classes and kept bringing excuses that we don’t have any class right now. If you didn’t offer any class, why did you allow me to enrol and charge me???

Sarah Louadi: I have been going to BC Dance in various capacities for the past 2 years, as a student, an assistant, and to attend special events.I generally enjoyed the classes I took there. I would often see Nestor (the manager, who also teaches there) go out of his way to keep the space clean or fix an amenity. He also constantly strives to renovate the studio for various purposes, which offer variety to renters (exercising, boxing, dancing, massages, and even chess). Every time I go, I would find Nestor either working on a new project or thinking about additions to make the studio more versatile, welcoming, and efficient.When I assisted him in teaching salsa classes, we would talk about how to make the best out of the time allocated, so that people leave fulfilled. He takes feedback seriously, and is genuinely concerned about the students' experience. He would often go overtime because he cared more about transferring as much knowledge as possible than keeping track of time :)The studio is easily accessible (a few blocks away from the Canada Line in Yaletown Station) and nicely situated so you can go for drinks or food with your classmates after class.
Julie Hunter: I love this place - the zumba instructors are fantastic, super high energy and the classes are really fun. Done zumba in lots of places and the instructors here are my favorite of everywhere so far. It's a no-frills place but the groupon is a great deal and you get a great workout with nice people.
Ana & TJ: Nestor is an amazing dance teacher and he has a special talent for teaching beginners. My fiancé went from zero dance experience to assisting with the beginner class that we used to attend, within half a year. If you want a great class environment, with a knowledgeable, patient, and fun teacher, sign up for Nestor's salsa classes - beginner or intermediate. You won't regret it.

XQ Y: I feel so lucky that I found Idance when I first moved to Vancouver. There are different styles of dance to choose and the instructors are so kind and talented. The environment is very super supportive and you can meet a lot of creative dancers and beautiful souls here. It’s like a big family.

Many people have reached out to have the music turned down, and yet she refuses to be considerate or mindful of the community her building surrounds. Would not recommend supporting a business who can’t work cohesively with its community.

The studio's commitment to diversity is evident, from the range of dance styles they offer to the diversity of their instructors and dancers.One thing that really stood out to me was the fact that they have BIPOC immigrants instructors which is something that is unfortunately not always common in other spaces in Vancouver. It was really refreshing to see such a diverse group of people coming together to share their love of dance.Overall, I would highly recommend iDance to anyone looking for a welcoming and inclusive dance studio. They embrace diversity and provide a space where everyone can come together to learn and grow as dancers.

Giorgia Ricciardi: Coming to this studio as someone with no dancing background but who was so keen (and so shy) to start was the best decision. It is warm, welcoming, encouraging, and safe! A variety of fun classes that make it hard to choose from, too! I love it here.

Anh Tang: Amazing teachers, variation in genres, diversity, and overall vibe. Highly recommend for adult learners who are new to dancing. Don't get scared by the levels they offer. Lots of folks who are new to dance doing intermediate classes and are very comfortable in their own skins doing so, unlike many other professional studios.

Zandrew Claveria: As someone who danced readily 10 years ago, there was a lot of pride to get back into it. I started coming more frequently a month ago and got the best value out of the introductory unlimited month.Like other reviews, I can say this is a community focussed studio that is very inclusive of the many types of dancers that are out there. Each teacher I’ve found concisely debriefs the class, breaks down the moves and is available for any questions. There is camaraderie amongst the students and I have created new friendships. Each person wanting the best for themselves and others.It has helped me break out of mould of keeping regimented, rigid and feeling formatted from past dance experiences. Each class promotes that sense of critical thinking and understanding of what feels good for your body. I highly recommend taking several classes as a new student or beginner, as there are many ice breakers to meet others in class.A great first class to take is Stu’s open level grooving class on Fridays. He has the ability to connect with the class as a whole all at once, to bring out the best in everyone. Also recommend Jesse if you want to learn foundational hip hop dances like popping. If you want to be challenged, I enjoy taking Kiara, Leo, Chris or Kyle’s classes as well. Lisa has a great yoga class on Saturdays that is fun and energetic but also restorative.Thank you iDance for revitalizing this love for dance and keep up the great work.

As someone guilty often does—she prevaricates and falsely preaches about “respect and kindness” to unsuspecting customers.Meanwhile, she is intentionally wreaking havoc one lives of dozens of neighbours like a true hypocrite.
Jordan Halligan: I live in the building facing the dance studio and the noise is horrendous, we have tried to communicate to the owner about this on multiple occasions but have been met with rudeness everytime. She has zero regard for anyone living in the surrounding area. she preaches about how community driven she is but Cleary does not care about the community at all. James C: We took the 4 hour wedding package as we or should I say me the groom had not had any dance lessons since high school and thus we didn’t want to make a complete fool of ourselves during the first dance. We were expecting a very basic program but Corey amazingly came up with a perfect routine for our chosen song and skill level. I am amazed how much he was able to teach us in such a short period of time. The guests were impressed with the main part of the routine full of spins, dips and the beautiful parade of the bride routine with the big 90 degree turn dip and kiss finale. Corey is amazing to work with and has more patience than anyone can imagine especially with my two left feet. If you are looking to put a little extra into your first dance I highly recommend Corey at Dance 4 U Vancouver.
Kiki May: Friendly and fun team of professionals who will get you up and dancing in no time flat. I came in with two left feet and walked out of the first class some groove in my step. I really enjoyed it.
