HOpe Centre - The Greta & Robert H.N. Ho Psychiatry & Education Centre: what do users think?
Dan: dr. hong is the best doctor in this clinic.
Brenna Phillips: I've been attending the centre's knitting group for about 5 or 6 years now, as well as receiving treatment. The therapists and personal are compassionate and understanding, and the many community activity groups are fun and welcoming to everyone. It doesn't matter your age, ethnicity, or experience, all are welcome so long as you're open and compassionate in kind. The centre has a great atmosphere because of the people who work there, and I've never felt so welcome outside of my own home.
Emily K: Saved my life
Rose Black: Call it "Useless Therapy" at "HOpeless Center"!After 3 sessions of I speaking whole 1 hour - called "Intake"-, she said on the 4th session "because we did not have time to plan for the rest, we continue Intake in this session too". Then, it went to the 5th, and 6th, and 7th session of Intake. On the 7th session she asked me "what do you expect from me/us?". I replied "I assume that you are an expert as you call yourself a "therapist" and can analyze what I have said in those 7 sessions so far and advise me with a tool, method, program, therapy, or so on". She said " Do not expect we do a magic". I replied " I don't expect a magic, but at least you may analyze whatever I have told you so far!". She said "You have passive-aggressive problem". I said "that small piece of information is important for me. Please elaborate and explain for me". She said "I don't have anything to add to it!".At the 8th session, she repeated that "2 words" and mentioned that she does not have anything to add to it and she will give me the name of some centers in Vancouver on the 9th (and the last) session!!So, the outcome of 9 sessions of my talk at this multi-story building became only 2 words from a so-called therapist who earns her income from the tax I and their other clients pay!! I doubt even she is eligible to work there!
colin hughes: Get your amazing mental health care of my life!!!!
Katelyn Nanka: Worst experience of my life. I was only able to sit through 20 minutes of my intake before I couldn’t take the mistreatment anymore. The so-called psychiatric nurse treated me with disdain and was so hurtful. I haven’t felt so small in a long time.
Denise Derksen: A beautiful building, but it is a disgrace for the North Shore!!! I agree with soooo many negative comments here and agree, I would chose NO STARS if I could have. I know many people who have had horrible experiences here!!!
Amir Alizadeh: This is hands down “The Best” help I’ve received since last year when I had a nervous breakdown from too much going on all at once.😙The personnel are always there for you, no matter how many times you knock on those doors. Cream on top is Dr Lim (my psychiatrist); The best I’ve ever had a chance to talk with. He is there for you and helps you figure yourself out before you go wonder around trying to figure others. All you need to do is to be smart enough to stop fighting and start acknowledging.Kudos Hope Centre!
Cyrus Kalantari: I wasted my time more than six years. I got nothing from them except for more anxiety and depression
sara saeedi: Great!!
Kevin Bouwsema: The nurses and patients were all really nice but the social worker that I had did not advocate for me and lied about how they were trying to “help” me and rather help my ex instead. My doctor was nice enough but when asked for a letter that he offered to write for me I was just ignored for months and then told he won’t write it for me anymore.
Valerie Cayer: Very helpful and kind people! Especially Jesse Pare MSW.
Elizabeth Smith: I have attended this place as a patient
The Girl With The Lighthouse Tattoo: I spent a year and half wasting my time here every week and they don't even have the records and apparently I have no diagnosis. What?Hilarious how bad they are. They don't help, they can't file paperwork, and if you have a complicated diagnosis, don't even walk into that godforsaken building. They cannot help you unless you are a textbook case.I'm honestly disgusted by how badly this place functions. I will never forget being told to never have children because I am such an awful person, I would only ruin them in my assessment.
Rowan Dickson: I was nervous going into the appointment due to all the low ratings but was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Iro was very professional and kind.I would give 5 stars but I never got the zoom link and a front desk attendant hung up on me mid sentence when I was double checking my appointment date which was kinda rude.
alexei haws: Dr. Lim is the only reason vancouver is still alive!
Stevie Wonder: Totally useless - do not expect any serious help from this place. Difficult to reach them to book appt. they get your phn number wrong even when you call to update it, quote you the wrong appt time, long wait to see psychiatrist, psych will only see you for 30min and reccomends meds and silly group therapy sessions before getting rid of you. meds can help but therapy is important too, if you want help get your doctor to refer you directly to a north shore psychiatrist outside hope center often it is covered by government if done this way, unfortunately most psychiatrists are booking way ahead in future or not accepting new clients if you want free services.
Sheila Hume: No help whatsoever. The most they do is direct you to another place altogether.
Daisy Oh: I had an amazing doctor from middle east. Very warm heart with care and pure love. Bit displeasing I want to release faster. Knowing patients like to help less fortunate patients reminds I was like them biginning of my h.addmissions. They are actually makes them better because their any kind of genuine unconditional love, I think I did witnessed some. I'm Vancouverian for so many yrs. Getting to know N.V. people was good. I felt people are bit judgemental strangers easily but I know they mean all good intentions. Moving forward for a better creation each day. Renewing good person from my past. Anyone I offended apologized to them. Wish all get better and all the best. Grazia!
Josh Reid: If you find yourself getting nowhere with the services here, invest in private counselling. We put our faith in the system and they failed us; my mother ended up taking her life after being turned away; saying there’s nothing they can do for her on multiple occasions. She was horrified of this place; the counselling lacks any humanity and the counsellors and doctors speak to you like robots.
Paul H.: Should be called the Hopeless Center instead. Management and staff are utterly incompetent. If only they spent as much money on the quality of service as they did on the building. But hey, at least it looks nice.

Vancouver Coastal Health Detox Centre: what do users think?
Jeremy R: To Whom It May Concern:I would like to share my experience with the staff members of Vancouver Detox located at 377 East 2nd.I have a loved one who is suffering from substance abuse, and has chosen to embark on treatment modalities frequently in order to tackle the addiction, and seek long term recovery.Given the nature of the recovery process which is often gruelling, and disorientating, the staff have repeatedly abused their positions during this delicate period of time. At several detox stays staff have administered increased dosage of medication without consent from the patient. This is an abuse of control over the rights of the patient. Many medications are extremely potent, and take long periods of time to taper off. Increasing doses without the full consent of the patient is a violation of human rights. The staff treat this facility like a jail, as opposed to having empathy and compassion for those seeking recovery. There is no ability for those who smoke cigarettes or cannabis to engage in these substances, and this makes recovering from lethal drugs incredibly difficult. In addition, to the concerns around abuse of power, staff have shown little to no understanding regarding basic requests from loved ones.I personally was mistreated while the intake process was underway staff would not allow time for a proper goodbye and rushed off the patient leading to anxiety and stress to all involved. When I called to request I give a proper goodbye to my loved one, I was approached aggressively by staff member Francis, who ordered me to leave and pushed the door, closing it in my face. Followed by ignorance of subsequent phone calls and then a threat from the clinical educator Karen, that they would call authorities if I didn’t leave. This all happened within five minutes, mind you.Furthermore, these staff notified my loved one my visitation rights were revoked. What exactly did I do except request to see my loved one a minute after intake, to warrant revoking visitation rights? This is not a prison, it's a rehab facility. There are absolutely no grounds for this. Please provide me a legitimate reason as to why requesting to see my loved one is grounds for ceasing visitation?During this interaction, a patient Denis who was exiting from being discharged, and witnessed the entire incident, was appalled at the treatment I was receiving and further testified that this place was “more of a jail”, and “the staff treated them like inmates and lack compassion”, and “they really push pills there”. Not to mention after a week of detox he left feeling as though he accomplished nothing. This lack of regard for the delicate circumstances surrounding recovery, and understanding to the complexities of making the process smooth and peaceful, is clear evidence that the staff here are lacking the needed level of compassion for this position, and instead are only concerned with financial gains.I’m greatly disappointed with the treatment of several loved ones who have spent time recovering from substance abuse at this location. I will be forwarding this letter to any outlets that will listen, and will be making a formal complaint to Vancouver Coastal Health. These issues must be addressed, and I will continue with this recognition until proper steps are taken.I will be speaking to the Vancouver Civil Liberties regarding the discrimination I have received today, and specifically regarding staff members Francis and Karen and my unjustified revocation of visitation rights.
A Maillet: I would like to thank the Doctors,Nurses, Social workers, and cleaning and cooking staff you guys literally saved my life. All of you were very kind and understanding.
jess Zaeus: PLACE Was excellent..Nurses Doctors Social workers & Staff.. You guys truly made me believe in myself..Love is in the air .You're friend JESSETHANKS SO SO MUCH
nela h: It seems to me these people dont do what is best for the patient. I've mentioned multiple times a translator is needes so there is no misunderstanding or miscommunication. They have someone there that speaks the same language and yet there was no translator, ESPECIALLY when the counselor has a heavy accent. I don't trust the workers there one bit. If you need detox, go to another place and avoid this particular location.
Monique CRETE: I want to thank everyone for the help and love I received while at Vancouver detox for 4 days, it only have been a week that I am out, but for the first time in a very long time I have hope....thank you

South Mental Health Team: what do users think?
C. T.: They are extremely kind, caring and generous individuals. ALL THE STAFF MEMBERS whom I have had personal interactions with have not only treated me very well, but have also gone above and beyond any expectation, that I may have had, to help benefit my lifestyle through increased activity, community exposure & available programs that are suitable; along with encouraged employment & personal fitness opportunities. I feel very blessed to have been introduced to the team at South Mental Health. I highly recommend & encourage to anyone to show-up with an open mind and integrity in the form of an honest description about your current life & background.
