Le Crocodile: what do users think?

Teresa Ford: AMAZING SERVICE, AMAZING FOOD, LOVELY PEOPLE, you will not be disappointed if you go here.
Janell Natekar: Food: I had been bragging to my family and friends about Le Crocodile since the first time I went there, so it was a bit sad to see some of them disappointed by their meals. My partner wasn't impressed by the large piece of cauliflower in a literal pool of olive oil for his appetizer, or the spinach drenched in oil with his salmon, to the point he had difficulties with eating it. My mother ordered a ribeye medium rare, and it came mostly well done to nearly overcooked in sections. There were a few misses for sure with some of the meals. But the others were just as rich and excellent as I remembered, and their specials were not to be missed! Here was the best of what we had:Appetizers: They had a white asperagus that v had been imported with a little seafood topping and sauce; my mother complained that the portion was small for the price, but the flavours were out of this world and I hadn't experienced anything quite like this sweet and savoury dish. My escargots were delicious as usual, and this is one of my favourite places for them (though there was a general concensus that there can never be enough garlic). The frogslegs were so delicious with a little sauce that really made then. The deep fried lobster was delicious; I'd never have thought to do that with such a delicacy and it was very good! Some must tries, all of them!Main dishes: I highly recommend that you get their special on the venison of you're going there soon! The sauce was rich and the meat was so tender! The veal was also an excellent choice from their main menu and had a thick and creamy sauce as well. I personally enjoyed the lamb shank and the truffle gnoochi, a strong rich flavour and very filling.Dessert: they started us with a small pear palate cleanser that was so delicious! And then finished with a chocolate crocodile that was very professional. I also had the meringue souffle with creme anglais. It was so nice, fluffy, and comparatively light after a rich meal, I highly recommend it!White Wine: I generally love a very sweet and smooth white wine, and their gerwurtztraminer hit the spot! I'm picky and this was so delicious, several others at the table also picked it up.Overall, if I wanted to save up and plan a special event here again, I would! Really delicious, still one of my favourite places I've eaten! Be prepared for the price, but I nearly had to be rolled out of there by the end of the meal. Very satisfying.Service: We had a large group of people booked in advance, and the table was ready for us as soon as we walked up. Please note: the cost of the reservation funds will be returned directly to your credit card, not removed from the bill the table, so you can more easily book through one person and pay separately. They were excellent with their service, and meeting requests for a caraffe of water for the table and replacement small plates and removing an alcoholic dressing on one their pallette cleansers. One drink was missed later on in the night, but they were good to apologize and made sure not to include it on the bill. They managed odd pairs of people paying and a restaurant gift card without any issue. They did an excellent job overall, and were a real pleasure to deal with.Parking: we parked at the lot across the street under the Scotiabank theater, about $8 for the evening after 6pm. Good for a carpool and a full evening.
Doretha Son: The wait staff was very nice. They were training some new people and were busy, but they made sure we were taken care of promptly. The food was good.
Kev N: Incredible food, service and ambiance. Always a must visit when in Vancouver with the familyScallop and lobster tempura dish is a must try. Duck with fois gras and pan seared scallops are so so good! Love the white asparagus special as well. The frites, pear sorbet and crocodile chocolate bites afterwards is the cherry on top of the whole experienceYou truly feel the traditional french dining experience from start to finish. Great wine selection as well and they are very accommodating

Gregory Feder: Simply the least pretentious and finest dining Vancouver has to offer. Always a pleasure. As impressive as their cuisine is the fact that their servers memorize daily specials that take them minutes to relay. Where I choose to celebrate my birthdays. Try the lobster tempura and scallop endive salad, it's superb.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Veal Medallions, Pan Seared Foie Gras with Sea Scallops, Shoestring Fries, Lobster Bisque …More
Sasha K: Le crocodile is a true 5 star fine dining experience; the table settings and greetings into the restaurant alone are always immaculate. From every detail of the service to food, dining here is always top tier. I truly appreciate the wine list and their sommeliers experience in serving and pairing the wines with dinner. The food is also always as exceptional as the service and atmosphere. The foie gras crème brûlée is a standout as well as the frogs legs, escargot, and wagyu steak. Though, all dishes are exceptional and make traditional French delicacies seem more approachable. My only critique from my most recent visit would be the accompanying toast to the steak tartare. The bread was very reminiscent of sliced white bread toast and was not the most enjoyable. A nice crostini or crouton would have been better in my opinion. All in all, le crocodile is a standout in Vancouver’s fine dining scene and a must try.

J Y: A very good meal where the flavours blend very well together. The tartare was excellent as was the onion tart and the classic tomato soup. Lamb shank was very good and scallops very fresh. My only displeasure was the souffle as it was not light and airy. It was very foamy and had strong egg taste unless to mixed it with the creme anglais. Service was impeccable. We very much enjoyed the dinner and will be returning in the future.
Dima Mekhlis: My favorite restaurant!
Alan W.: Absolutely phenomenal food and service every time! I recently celebrated a birthday here and brought my own cake. The hostess advised that there would be a plating fee of $4.50 per person. Fair enough, it is a hassle for the restaurant to deal with this. They plated the cake and used piping to decorate the plates with chocolate and caramel swirls. They also garnished the plate with mint and whipped cream! Wow! So impressed. The food of course was fantastic.

Burgoo: what do users think?
Tracy: Good and simple comfort food. Great customer service but incredibly overpriced.
Andrea Moravanská: I visited this place few years ago trying beef bourginon and remember it was pretty good at that time. Yesterday we visited again - I decided to try the tomato soup and it was the worst I’ve ever eaten. I hope it was just one off portion. The service could definitely improve - it took a while to order another drink, no one picked up empty glasses and plates. Two stars is for the sangria as that one was pretty good.

Andrew Lin: Poor experience when we visited last night around 8:50pm. First our waitress asked to take our order, but when we said we’re just getting dessert, she swiftly turned around and walked away as my partner was ordering. We were pretty confused. She continued to ignore us for 10 minutes, though we tried to get her attention. In the meanwhile, we watched her serve the people around us.We ended up asking the busser guy if we can order from him, but it took me 3 times to say, “Sorry, excuse me?”, even though the guy was standing right next to us collecting plates. Felt like he tried to ignore us as well. The whole service was rude and confusing. We don’t know what we did to deserve it. Our waitress only spoke to us again when we asked for the check.
Immo .Design: Really like this restaurant but seriously, one slide of bread for the soup ?
Delany Bramley: Best part of the meal... great server (Irish fella)! Mac n cheese was disappointing, kids didn't like it either. Grilled cheese sandwich, on a baguette?! Why. Disappointing. Mushroom soup was below my expectation as well. Add on top of all that the fact that the restaurant was baking hot, on a rainy cool day, made it uncomfortable all around. Our family would try other restaurants before we return.
Jeannie Magenta: Dinner was amazing, I totally loved every bite of the jambalaya. So tasty and flavorful. Burgoo is always a treat and their staff are welcoming and fabulous. French Table: what do users think?
Ron Therien: We have eaten in many French restaurants over the years and have travelled France a lot. We found the food to be very average and overpriced and the wines, oooh la la, soooo overpriced - 3x liquor store prices, so we ordered only 1 glass of wine each. The "Special Martinis" at $17.00 are small and not worth it. I had the cassoulet, it was ok, but definitely not the best. The duck leg and sausage were delish but the beans were undercooked, and of course not the same beans as in France (not available here). Having had many cassoulets is France, I was somewhat disappointed with this one. My wife had the Moules Frittes and they were good. The service was very good also. The bill with tip was $180.00! We did not feel like we received value for our money. Are all restaurants now overpriced since covid? Why do restaurants have to charge so much for wines? - it is definitely a deterrent to going out for dinner as it adds a lot to the bill.
robey H: Outstanding! That's all.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Ana Ayala: Have been to many French restaurants in the city and wanted to try a different one. Food was ok but definitely not good. The escargots were tasty but served cold. The coq au vin was dry and really lacked flavor. Service is ok. Value for money is not there. Will not be returning
Richard Forzley: Had a great night at this restaurant about a week ago. Excellent food, wonderful service by our waiter and a first rate wine list. We have only one minor complaint. Our waiter (can't remember his name -- shorter man) needs to pay more attention to his personal hygiene. Don't want to embarrass him, but it's something he needs to address. In spite of that we will definitely visit again.
James Ko: Very nice French restaurant in town. Nice and kind service. Will be back again soon.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Onion Soup, Pear Almond Tart …More
Mike Axworthy: You must order the Beef Wellington ahead of time and it is excellent!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Cici Duncan: We just had our dinner tonight, very nice… the food is very authentic French, and the desserts are beautiful… so many selections of French desserts there…
Ronen Wolf: Food was ok. Not more. Service was very good. Reasonable value for money but I don't think I will be back thereFood: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Rhonda Connell: Our experience at French Table was excellent. We were a bit hesitant after reading the reviews, very happy we went to check it out for ourselves. This is a classic professional style French Bistro with traditional dishes. The staff are seasoned and there to provide you with service. They take their jobs seriously, they are there to serve patrons and not to provide entertainment or friendship. If you truly enjoy traditional French fare you will not be disappointed. Can't wait to visit again.
Dylan Tech Studio (딜런 스튜디오): 좋은 와인에 좋은 음식으로 분위기를 내고 싶다면 추천. 데이트 또는 특별한날 가면 분위기는 자동 업 될거다.
Chelin Grabowski: We came here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday evening, which happened to coincide with Dine Out. Most of us ordered the Dine Out offerings- the coq au vin, the steak, and the fish. The people who had the chicken and steak liked it, but the fish entree was rather underwhelming. Presentation of the courses was okay. The appetizers and desserts were good. The server was friendly but rather forgetful (beverages that were brought out only after reminder, food items that never came at all despite reminder, and a number of errors on the final bills resulting in multiple revisions due to incorrect quantities of items or prices). It seemed like a slower night (not a full house) but it took quite a while for our food to come out. We ended up spending 3 hours at the restaurant, which is certainly longer than we had expected to be there, and a lot of it was time spent waiting. Overall it was an okay experience, but the price point compared to the experience didn't quite add up for most of our party.
caenip: Food: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5More
Pat Trinh: Coming in for Saturday brunch, my only regret was not ordering their mussels and side of fries as I saw them being served to the table next to us. Although their brunch is delicious, and also very well presented, I think that French Table is enjoyed best for their lunch and dinner items. Comfortable for groups for up to 6 people. Very cozy atmosphere and good quality service. Wheelchair accessible, no stairs leading into the restaurant or bathrooms. Brunch wasn't busy but I'm sure that their evenings can be, so call in advance to book a table.
Sophie Arnold Rosanvallon: Some friends and I came here for my birthday dinner last night, and everything was exceptional. Our server was so lovely; everyone was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The owner was there interacting with the tables and very involved with the on-floor restaurant operations; he is also very personable and fascinating. The food was delicious. We ordered the fondue and raclette, which were so flavourful and rich in the best ways. I have been searching Vancouver for an authentic french restaurant that makes fondue and raclette the traditional french way, and thanks to this place; I've finally found it. We finished our meal with four desserts which were beyond perfect. We had the opera cake (one of the specials that night), two creme brûlées with espresso cream, and the pear almond tart.Thank you for such a fantastic and memorable experience.
Laurie Mecke: Recommended dishes Beef Wellington, Mussels and FriesMore
Tim Parris: Parking: 4 free spaces available in the back, very handie
Maria Elena Martinez: Very bad fondue ,
Andy Ying: A great place for a fine dinner. We ordered beef Wellington and seared tuna salad. I also ordered their family wine (i.e. chateau de Chamille) which is very good.
gailirene: I visited the French Table with my sister for her birthday and made a reservation for 6:30 pm which was quickly confirmed. Upon arrival we were told that we had until 8 pm because I guess they booked in another reservation. The food, atmosphere, wine, service were all exceptional. However, being ushered out and told TWICE that we had to leave was so rude. I won't go again even though I loved the dish I ordered.

Sarah ingram-reid: Made a reservation over a month in advance for the patio, came to Vancouver from Vancouver island just to come to this restaurant. When I arrived they had told me that a large party has come in and the patio is no longer available. Y K: When it comes to comfort food, Burgoo is the place to be. They've got multiple locations in Vancouver: one near UBC, one in downtown Vancouver, and one on Main Street.
Elliot F: I've been to burgoo many times, tho think this might be my last. Years ago I remember taking home meals and leaving full. Today, $14.5 ($16.70 if ordered online) gets you just 6 wings, both inflation and shrinkflation at the same time. Atmosphere is unpretentious and nice (I like the real candles), service is generally good. Even so, giving half orders of wings for $14.5 without warning is outrageous.
