The butter chicken, fish & chips, and seafood chowder are all recommended. Even on a cold and rainy day, there was great beauty to be seen, and the gracious hospitality at the restaurant made for great memories.

The wagyu beef patty house burger is delicious. The soup could have used a little more flavour, but it wasn't bad. The salmon was cooked to perfection (not overdone, and the fish was delicate and moist). Apple crumble cake to be a little dry without the help of vanilla ice cream, and not enough caramel sauce/apples.The drinks were not the best, but they weren't the worst either. The blackberry ice tea mocktail i feel would have been better if fresh muddled blackberries were used, & personally, perhaps i would have preferred lemonade over ice tea... the caesar's flavour was lacking worchestershire sauce but we enjoyed the garnishes.

Barbara Paul: What a stunning place to have a wedding! Our arrangements were looked after perfectly by the Brock house staff. The bride's room was a great place for everyone to get ready, and the house provided a lovely setting for the first photos. The big tree made a beautiful backdrop, along with the ocean and mountain view. When the service was over, servers were ready with punch while the guests mingled on the lawn. At noon, a delicious buffet lunch was provided and the tent looked beautiful. After postponing for Covid, it was wonderful to finally have our dream wedding. Demian Mcrae: I got married here. Really nice venue with an outside area as well. In wetter colder times a tent can be set up, there is a really nice background for all the wedding pictures plus some nice indoor areas that look fantastic. Food and drink package was great and the best part was that all set up and clean up was taken care of by the staff, all that was needed was the decorating and then take down of that. It was totally worth it, we got married off season so it was cheaper that way.

Michelle Morris: Brock House is a beautiful location. My criticisms are due to poor execution and post accounting administration. We learned the following the hard way. Now you don’t have to:Make note of the earliest access to the site (if having an early day meeting) is at 8:30am. But that doesn’t mean that they will have any staff there, or the building open at that time. It just means you can stand in the lawn at that time and wait for their staff to arrive. You can’t get into the building until 9am - that time is not just for the bridal room but the whole building.If you are planning your wedding there, have a good understanding of how many service staff they will have on that day. We found that the bar was often closed because the bartender was serving food at the tables so our guests could not be served by the bar.Be sure to confirm with the planner, that your guests can order drinks from the bar at their table or they will not be able to get any drinks like my guests. Our guests went thirsty.The servers are only allowed to fill wine glasses up to maybe 5oz and they are not allowed to leave the bottles on the tables when guests ask, and no server or coordinator will pass on that request to you if it does come up.Make sure you take photographs of the food and drinks, so you can compare with your final bill when it arrives. (I have photographs showing they did not put out the infused strawberry water, but they’re still charging me $50 for it anyways, and won’t respond to my inquiry).Make sure your plate numbers are what you asked for on your bill. They mentioned that two more plates were ordered at table #2 on the day but my guest list never changed and my guests at the table say no plates were ordered. The kitchen/chef overrules your photos and accounts.Make sure you know that the walls on the tent are fully down with only one door that faces the house open, restricting the flow from the tent to the lawn. At least they told me you can’t open those tent walls but that’s not what I see in all the photographs on Google of past weddings there.Make sure that even though they tell you the microphone is available in the tent for speeches you still need one if you don’t have a DJ.Make sure you create a rainy day floor plan as well as a sunny day floor plan. They won’t tell you to do this but if it’s a rainy day your plan will not be the same and they will make-up your floor plan without consultation.There are million of other issues that we encountered that they refused to acknowledge or respond to. So do realize that is their level of customer service on the back end.We had a beautiful wedding in spite of it all but it’s because we decided to think that way. When thinking too much about the execution and post accounting it can taint the day. However, it is a wonder that an establishment whose only job is to manage events like these doesn’t have these issues worked out and operates like a finely oiled machine.Good luck!

Their lack of attention to detail, lack of willingness to compromise, and disturbed attitude, etc, was despicable. The amount of money versus what was actually supplied was embarrassing. Whoever intended this to be a magical place for people to celebrate their love should be mortified. A beautiful location and that’s it. I would not recommend this venue for anyone to get married.

Danielle Douglas: We had our dream wedding at the Brock House Restaurant. The Brock House exceeded our expectations. Here are just a few reasons you should book your wedding at the Brock House:1. The views at the Brock House are incredible, our out of town guests were especially impressed - gorgeous sunset. This also meant that very little decor/florals were needed for the ceremony.2. Everyone we dealt with at the Brock House were kind and seemed to care about ensuring the wedding guests had a good time; service was excellent - always making sure guests glasses were full. They made sure there was enough staff so everything ran very smoothly.3. The food was also exceptional (particularly the sable fish and the late night mac and cheese), and exceeded the quality from our tasting.4. They accommodated different dietary restrictions - with even a meal for our guests who were gluten free and vegan.5. They were very flexible, willing to order in special wine for us.6. The tent is already decorated with chandeliers so it makes decor very easy. They have nice chairs so you don't need to rent others, they even printed off menus for own guests and have nice table numbers.7. The lead up to the wedding was relatively stressful given the ever-evolving public health orders; The Brock House was very transparent with us and provided lots of options in case the public health order wouldn't allow us to have the wedding we wanted.We are just so thankful we had our wedding at the Brock House and cannot recommend it enough!The photos below are by Scott Little photography.

Andrew Liu: Paradise Events is one of the best vendors to work with! Liting is so genuine and thoughtful and really puts in effort to get to know you as a couple and what your vision is so that she can bring it to life. We started planning out our wedding pre-COVID, and then eventually made the call to do a micro-wedding on the original date and save the big reception for next year. During this time, Liting really helped guide us on making a decision that is what we really wanted, and gave us inspiration to do something intimate and sweet which really resonated with our personalities too.Eventually we came up with a unique and personalized design for the micro-wedding as you can see from the picture. Liting is so talented and there's no one we would trust more to take care of everything. The florals were way beyond expectations and everything was absolutely perfect before we even arrived on-site! The attention to detail was spectacular and the execution was flawless. Don Reyes: My better half and I have experience in organizing events, but we wanted to keep wedding planning as stress-free as possible. We chose the Wedding Day Essentials package and we were paired with Cayenne - we knew we were in great hands from the first conversation as she demonstrated equal parts of calm, humour, and the willingness to learn about her clients. On top of this is her deadly precision in knowing what to do/say and when with ourselves and our vendors and we realized just how lucky we were to have her on our side.From reviewing contracts and providing commentary, to keeping us on track with timelines and deadlines, to always thinking about the "what if..?" or the "how about...?" situations and scenarios, the planning process was pretty darn low stress and this was definitely the case during the big day.Our wedding was approximately 125 guests - Cayenne and her assistants made the entire day FLAWLESS! We were ahead of schedule in cocktail hour, group photographs, and the tea ceremony to the point where we were able to get an extra 90 minutes with our photographers before the sun set!

Emma V: Matthew and I hired Alexa with Dreamgroup for day of coordination for our wedding. She was a referral from a friend who used her services in the past, and boy are we happy we chose to work with Alexa and Dreamgroup! From the beginning of my 2 year wedding planning process, Alexa was open to any emails or phone calls that I had, and sent a very comprehensive checklist of things to do up until the wedding day, which I used “religiously”. During our planning meeting a month before the wedding, Alexa was super organized, discussing and finalizing little pieces I hadn’t even thought of, and made sure to follow up with any vendors if necessary after our discussion. Leading up to and on the day of the wedding, Alexa and her team were extremely organized and made the environment super relaxed and stress free. I know how much was going on behind the scenes with Alexa coordinating the vendors, the venue, etc., but based off the way she acted, you would never know! She was extremely relaxed and it was fun to laugh and smile with her to ease my nerves as well. Everything went super smooth on our wedding, and I can say so much of that was because of Alexa. I couldn’t recommend Alexa and Dreamgroup MORE - they are incredible!

Lynita White: Hiring Alexa at DreamGroup was the best thing we could have done for our wedding! Alexa is professional, but also has a funny and sweet personality that makes her so easy to get along with. She was a welcome presence at our rehearsal dinner and wedding for this very reason! Alexa is so easy to communicate with from beginning to end, and she was also able to take complete control on the wedding day to make everything run seamlessly. One of the biggest priorities of our wedding was to make sure that both we and our guests did not feel like we were working, and Alexa made sure that we achieved that and more. She did so much work behind the scenes to make feel pampered on the day. She made sure all VIP guests were fed before and during the wedding, ensured that we were on time in the limo and shuttle, and kept the timeline of the day running smoothly. Alexa wasn’t hired to decorate the event, but went above and beyond with setting up our personal belongings - the set up looked better than I could have ever imagined.There were a few mini emergencies on our day (venue front door locked when we were supposed to arrive! Difficulties corralling guests!), but Alexa handled them easily. She is someone to depend on for sure.All of our other vendors loved working with Alexa. We also had guests taking Alexa’s business card at our wedding because they plan to hire her for their events! I would love to see her at a future event, and if we need any events planned in the future, Alexa will be the first person I reach out to. I highly recommend hiring a month-of coordinator if you plan to get married, and if you can, you should definitely work with Alexa.

Deborah Hong: We were looking for a month-of coordinator as we had done a lot of the preliminary planning and booking and wanted someone to take the lead at the end so we can enjoy the time with each other and our families. After meeting Cayenne in January, we knew she was the right person for our wedding as she was so friendly and very organized. The questionnaire was a great way for us to see where we were with our planning and see what was still missing. Once she got all our previous planning down, she was on top of all our wedding details and made everything seamless.The meetings and check-ins starting two months before the wedding were perfect as it allowed us to get any last minute tasks completed and really helped us be stress-free leading up to the big day. On the day of our wedding we were really able to enjoy the day as we knew that everything would run smoothly because of her. I have told everyone they need to have a coordinator for their wedding and highly recommended Cayenne.

Claire Demner: We worked with Olivia Woolwich with DreamGroup and she was amazing. We had a COVID wedding, so got bumped twice, but Olivia was available throughout the process, helped us move the date (twice) and then once we actually got married in 2022 she was exceptional. She made the process so easy for us, to the point where multiple people commented on how stress free I was. Olivia helped us with arranging everything the day of, making sure we didn't forget anything, set up, take down, as well as was fantastic in helping with our decor. Barbara Paul: Wow, it has been such a long time since we first contacted DreamGroup to look after our wedding, which was postponed due to Covid. We were finally able to have our dream wedding at Brock House on August 6th with our full complement of guests.I am writing to you to sing the praises of your planner Jill Bryan. I cannot say enough great things about her calm and reassuring presence. Jill met us ahead of time at our home and took photos and notes of all our decor plans. I knew my vision would be recreated well. We met her at our rehearsal two days before the wedding, where her amazing SUV managed to hold all our decor plus 100 wrapped tea cups! Once everything was loaded up, we knew we could relax, knowing it was all in such capable hands. The day of the wedding could not have gone more smoothly. The bride's room was all set up and waiting when we arrived, and so was Jill! The decor was set up exactly as I had envisioned. Dëmin Photography (Wedding Photographer): I've had the pleasure of photographing several weddings at this stunning venue in Vancouver, and I can confidently say that it's one of the best choices for a memorable wedding day. The heritage house is brimming with character and offers ample space for both indoor ceremonies and receptions. Additionally, the lush green lawn provides a perfect backdrop for larger ceremonies, especially on sunny days. One of my favourite features of this venue is the upper deck, which provides a breathtaking view of the sunset and makes for an unforgettable photo spot. I'm always excited to return to this venue and capture beautiful memories for happy couples on their special day.

Derek M: We held a reception after a funeral at Cecil Green, and it was a very nice venue for such an occasion. UBC's Sage provided the catering, and everything went very smoothly and uneventfully. Having been to Cecil Green many times over the years, it is definitely an excellent venue for all sorts of occasions - weddings, social gatherings, other celebrations, and well even funeral receptions.

Lucas Herrenbrueck: 2022 wedding here. Beautiful venue - would highly recommend on that count. Communication with venue staff was fine.Docked a point for having Sage as the exclusive caterer - see my (3★) review of Sage on their page. That said, the wedding itself was wonderful. If you're prepared for a cost overrun and a bit of micromanaging (and I suppose you are if you're planning a wedding), I'd very much recommend Cecil Green, and I'd recommend them even more enthusiastically if they offered a choice of caterer.

Cherlyn Cortes-Manderson: “THAT'S THE BEST VENUE IN VANCOUVER”. This is what a long-time event planner told my friend when she told her my wedding was going to be at the Cecil Green Park House. And I believe that she was spot on. We loved getting married and celebrating with our loved ones in a beautiful home, and many of our guests spoke about how they felt as if they were a part of one big family in the intimate and gorgeous setting of the Yorkeen dining room. We planned our wedding during what should have been a very stressful period – amidst a pandemic with evolving restrictions. But it honestly never felt that stressful and this is partly because of Gordon, Gordon, Gordon! Gordon Purchase was our person! At the time, he was our event manager and he was always there to respond to our many questions, listen to our concerns and calm us down - in the kindest way. We were also very fortunate that Cecil Green is one of the few wedding venues in Vancouver with its own covered patio. Despite some light rain, we said our I do’s outside, with a view of the Salish Sea behind us. Wendy Li: We had our wedding at Cecil Green on Aug 12, 2022 (booked in Jul 2021) and it was everything we wanted and more! The house and grounds speak for themselves, but are even more beautiful in person. We worked with Amber as our venue coordinator and she was SO professional, friendly, patient, and helpful--answering our many questions and working to ensure that all of our details were as we wanted. We weren't involved in behind-the-scenes on the day-of, but the on-site staff we interacted with were also professional, friendly, and helpful and everything went according to plan! All in all, a fantastic experience working with Cecil Green from beginning to end and would recommend to anyone who is considering having their wedding there!

Alison C: Excellent, quick service. My questions were answered very quickly, even during prime events season via email. The ventilation stayed under 800ppm (even in the washrooms) - meaning the space is well-ventilated (note that it goes up with more people in the space), and the risks for catching airborne diseases are lowered. Isabel Rodrigueza: Where do I even start?! As somewhat of a Type A bride myself, I was very particular about who my planner would be. I was looking for someone experiences, competent, and someone who truly understood my vision, and wouldn’t overtake it with their own. After interviewing and meeting with several (it went into the double digits), I had almost completely lost hope until my first call with Stephanie. Literally, there was an instant connection and I called my fiancé immediately after letting him know, “ I FOUND HER”. We went with the Partial Planning service, and are SO glad that we did. While I was very hands on at the beginning, I definitely started to lose steam the last few months leading up to the wedding, however Stephanie was there to pick up all the pieces. She is so organized, is literally on top of everything, and makes you feel like you’re the only wedding she is working on. When we voiced concerns about our videographer, he took the initiative to follow up with his team to ensure things would go smooth sailing during the wedding week. That was a huge relief! He was always just a phone call, text, email away to answer our questions and put our worries at ease.2) He was very kind and courteous to guests, other wedding vendors, and the pushy aunties in our families! My brother in law who got married 2 years ago still hasn't made his wedding album. His biggest complaint is that he received pictures in raw format on a usb stick, which require a computer powerful enough to open up the files. Sachin on the other hand, uploads your pictures onto a user friendly gallery website for you, AND gives you a separate link for family and friends to view your wedding pictures! He even made us a slideshow full of his favorites! Ryan & Shalyne Bond: We hosted our 10th anniversary party here and enjoyed the location and staff so much, we booked and hosted my parents 50th anniversary party 6 months later! We appreciated their flexibility and how we could to tailor the event to what we wanted. For the first party we brought and barbecued our own food. The staff offered and used their serving utensils and dishes. For the second party we used their catering and the food was delicious.For the first party we had our own DJ. For the second party we used a playlist, and we also had a zoom call using their A/V system. We also really appreciated being able to bring our own alcohol to have available what our guests wanted to drink, and to keep costs down.My parents arrived very early (much earlier than the party start time) yet were welcomed beautifully. They had wheelchair accommodation which was an important feature that we needed. There was ample street parking and some of our guests used the Skytrain which they said was easy.Can’t say enough about how awesome the staff were. From the guest check-in downstairs to the bartender to the hosts, everyone was friendly and so helpful. It was a real treat not to lift a finger or have to monitor everything. We really were able to just enjoy ourselves as guests. All our needs were met!

Venue has beautiful setup outside & inside such as sofas, tables, chairs, centre pieces and so many other decor pieces to add on to tables.I would recommended this place for all types of events.Great view and lights as well.

Mona Shirkhani: It was amazing place for your big day .everything decorated so beautiful and modern special lighting at night. I love rose who is the manager of this wonderful place. She is so kind, patient and responsible about her job. I recommend u 1000 times 😊 Literally they made me so satisfied.

Sandeep Jain: It was a wonderful experience to have my close friend’s celebrations at Terminal Ave penthouse on August 2nd where I was the host .The decor was great & the staff service was impeccable. I would especially like to thank Ms Rose - the event Manager who was available every time I had a question before the event and she handled the event so well that I cannot thank her enough and I wish I could have given 7 stars here - I will highly recommend this place for small to moderate gatherings of 40-60 people

Bao Tu: Beautifully set venue with even better staff! We've hosted multiple event gatherings here and this venue always has what it takes to make those evenings the most special! This venue has a wonderful outdoor view of the Vancity skyline as well as interior amenities to keep your guest continually entertained. Rose and her staff always go above and beyond to keep all of the guests happy and they are always so pleasant to deal with. Looking forward to booking again.

Sarah O'Brien: We had our wedding here Aug 6/22 and it could not have been more perfect! All our guests loved the venue. The views, the decor, the large plants, the outdoor lighting, all created a very magical vibe.Then there's the staff! Wow!!! Every single person was so lovely, friendly & professional. I was able to just enjoy the day while they took care of everything around me.This team knows what they are doing and you will be in good hands. We definitely recommend!!!!

Robert Craig: Hosted a very successful summer wedding at this venue. Very impressed with not only the venue but the attentive and supportive staff.They communicated extremely well and helped provide an amazing wedding experience at sunset complete with catering and set up. I couldn't be happier. I would 100% recommend this venue and will likely book here for birthdays in the future.

Rashminder Kaur Sandhu: This is an excellent venue located near science world. You will have access to a beautiful view both indoors and outdoors. Its definitely more worth than the price you pay. The whole team was very helpful and was available for assistance at any time. They went out of the way to help set up my decorations even though they didn’t have too. If I didn’t have the team to help me with my arrangements, I wouldn’t have been able to set up the baby shower on time like the way I had envisioned. You will have access to bar tender, servers, helpers, table decor, cutlery, and catering along with the venue access. Make sure you book with them because it will definitely be worth it. Again I would like to thank Dee and Rose for their wonderful service and support. I really appreciate it!!! Can’t wait to do another event at this wonderful place ☺️
